He explains that a genuine Rolex Yacht-Master, 116655 Rose Gold on Oys, is a significant investment, and the attention to detail can be the deciding factor between an original and a counterfeit watch. To spot a fake Rolex, follow these steps: 1. Check the bracelet and serial number of your Rolex watch. If you know what belongs to your Rolex, from the bracelet to the serial number, you’re on the safe side. 2. Check the Crystal Cyclops Lens. Since 1991, all genuine Rolex watches have been produced with a highly scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Discolorations in the crystal, such as uneven lettering or blemished finishes, should immediately trigger doubts about the watch’s legitimacy. 3. Be cautious when buying from a trusted secondary-market dealer or authorized retailer. Be cautious of the price tag on the watch, as there are both cheap fakes and expensive replicas. 4. Research the type of finish used on your preferred model and try to see if the actual piece you want to buy matches it. For example, a Rolex submariner might be a good example of a fake watch. 📹 FAKE or REAL? Rolex Yacht-MasterWe’re putting George to the test! How to Tell if an Yacht-Master is Real?It takes a good eye and close attention to detail to spot the real Yacht-Master. Let's discuss important differences between a real yacht master and a fake one so that you can be sure you’re buying the real one. Overview of the Rolex Yacht-Master - a timeless icon The Yacht-Master is a symbol of luxury and performance from Rolex, fit for the man who enjoys only the finest things in life, inspired by the sea. First launched in 1992, the Yacht-Master was designed to pay respect to the sailing world, merging elegance with solid functionality. It bridges the gap with ease from a sporty tool watch to a sophisticated luxury timepiece. The Rolex Yacht-Master is instantly recognizable with its signature rotating bezel, usually in precious metals such as platinum or Everose gold. It comes in a variety of sizes, and materials to suit anyone’s taste. Examining the Case and Bezel- Material: The real Yacht-masters are made of the highest materials like stainless steel, platinum, or gold. Finishing should be perfect with no rough edges.
- Case back: Rolex Yacht Masters normally would have smooth case backs.
- Bezel Details: Commonly, the Yacht-Master bezel would be made from platinum or gold and should weigh solidly assuredly not light, cheap feeling.
Image Source: www.rolex.com why every gram mattersA real Rolex Yacht-Master is made of high-quality materials. Every gram makes the watch feel rich and luxurious. The most common materials are platinum, oyster steel, and 18k gold. This kind of material helps the Yacht-Master’s weight and strength. This means that a real Yacht-Master will be stronger and heavier than a fake one since the fakes are lighter and not as well made. No matter how solid the platinum bezel or the links are in the chain, everything in a Rolex is there for a reason. Trust the right - it's one of the best ways to tell if something is real. A mark of perfectionTo tell if a Rolex Yacht-Master is authentic, the logo’s features are very important. The Rolex crown logo is on the face, the winding crown, and the clasp, which shows the logo should be in the middle of the dial, and the sides shouldn't be smudged or shaped in a way that doesn't look right. Most low-quality fake watches have logos that are blurry or badly done. Also, look at the Rolex crown logo on the clasp as it should be finely engraved. Movement CheckInside an authentic Rolex Yacht-Master is high-precision automatic movement. Checking the movement is one of the main steps in verifying the authenticity. Rolex uses its Perpetual Caliber movements that are noted for their silky-smooth operation and just fabulous accuracy. While inspecting the watch, pay close attention to the second hand - it should glide smoothly across the dial with no noticeable ticking. Another indicator is the sound. Real Rolex movements are practically silent, while the fakes tend to make louder, more irregular ticking noises. Numbers don't lie A Rolex Yacht-Master serial and model numbers are extremely important in determining the watch’s authenticity. The model and serial numbers of a Rolex are always engraved into the side of the case, between the lugs, and often under the bracelet. On an authentic Rolex, the engravings are clean-cut and deeply etched, in a fit that is even. The numbers should never appear shallow, inconsistent, or rough. The serial number on a Rolex designates the identity of the watch, and the model number designates the design and specification of the watch. Check whether the model number exists according to Rolex’s official catalogs for the Yach-Master line . Image Source: www.rubberb.com The original Yacht-Masters bracelet is made of high-quality materials like the Oyster bracelet and is made of solid gold, platinum, or oyster steel. The links are strong, smooth, and well-polished. They shouldn't have any rough edges. An Oysterlock clasp that folds up should open easily and safely. On the clasp, the Rolex crown logo should be finely carved. Check the inside of the clasp for an engraving of the Rolex name, information about the model, and the right hallmarks. The quality and material of the bracelet must match the case. The Date CyclopsOne of the first things you should check on a Rolex Yact-Master for its authenticity is the date Cyclops lens. Rolex sets a glass crystal with a Cyclops lens over the date window of its watches, This magnifies the date to 2,5 times its original size to be easily readable. A real yacht master would have a large date at the center that would be easily readable through the lens. Since they cannot exactly copy this magnification, the fake Cyclops also lacks the exact clarity of Rolex’s sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective layer. if you run your finger over the Cyclops, it should be slightly raised and easily blend into the crystal. If it is not properly attached, if it's crooked, or if it gives you the wrong magnification, it is likely to be a fake. Sapphire GlassAn Authentic Yacht-Master has a sapphire crystal that speaks much to its quality and durability. Rolex uses scratch-resistant sapphire glass that is very clear and resistant to wear. For authenticity, inspect the glass for scratches or cloudiness; a real Rolex crystal should remain perfect after regular use. Also, the real sapphire glass has a slight tint of blue when viewed at specific angles due to its anti-reflective coating. Mineral glass, used on lots of non-real Rolexes will be lighter, scratch easily, and not show this characteristic tint at all. Whether it i low quality or the crystal has some imperfections, that will also be a dead giveaway that it is fake Water ResistanceOne of the key features of Rolex Yacht-Master is water resistance. Real Yacht Masters are fitted with a resistance of up to 100 meters, or 330 feet, and a screw-down triplock crown with three sealed zones for extra procession. To check, the crown should screw down smoothly and tightly. Often, fake versions have a loose or non-screwing crown, compromising their water resistance. Besides that, each Rolex is highly tested for its water resistance and won't let the water in during regular conditions. If possible, have it pressure-tested by a professional to confirm the authenticity and integrity of water resistance. Common mistakes to avoid1.missing verification of serial number. Verify the serial number and model numbers are there. Verify both lugs and rehaut for their accuracy. 2.Cyclops Lens Many fakes do not provide proper 2,5x magnification, clarity, or alignment. The date should appear large and centered. 3.No movement checkReal Rolex watches have smooth, sweeping second hands. A ticking movement or loud noises can denote a watch as fake. 4.Poor craftsmanship Be sure that the bezel, dial, and bracelet are excellently finished. Misaligned details, uneven fonts, or rough edges raise suspicions of a fake. 5.Unrealistic prices If the price is too good to be true, most likely, it isn't. A Rolex Yacht-Master would still be high in market price even pre-owned. 6.Failure to request authentication Always request an official appraisal or have the watch authenticated by a Rolex-certified expert prior to purchase. - What is Extrabux?

Rolex Yacht-Master Real vs. Fake Guide 2025: How Can I Tell If It Is Real?Rolex is well-known for creating watches for professionals. Divers have the Submariner, racecar drivers have the Daytona, and even more niched experts like speleologists have the Explorer. And Yacht-Master was launched in 1992, it was a luxurious, nautically-themed watch; but it evolved over the years to be a professional regatta watch. Today, its elegant design has fans beyond yacht clubs and regatta courses. But The Yacht-Master is expensive that not all people can afford to own. This is why counterfeit Rolexes are everywhere. Sometimes, they are offered at prices that are too good to be true and gullible consumers fall into the trap of purchasing a Rolex watch replica. These days, some fakes are so good that they must be partially disassembled before they can be identified as counterfeit and can fool even the most well-versed Rolex aficionado or expert. This article will teach you how to identify the authenticity of The Yacht-Master from several aspects. Knowing how to spot a fake Rolex watch will save you from paying for a counterfeit watch. Cover Photo:rolex.com About Rolex Yacht-Master Inspired by the rich heritage that has bound Rolex to the world of yachting since the 1950s, the Yacht-Master and Yacht-Master II models embody the brand’s nautical spirit. The Yacht-Master brilliantly blends function and seafaring style. Presented in 2007, the Yacht-Master II is a regatta chronograph built for yachting competitions. The Yacht-Master is easily recognizable for its bidirectional rotatable 60-minute graduated bezel. This characteristic and functional bezel – which enables the wearer to read time intervals, for example, the sailing time between two buoys – plays a full part in creating the unique visual identity of the watch. The Yacht-Master II is a unique regatta chronograph dedicated to both yachting enthusiasts and experienced sailors. It features a countdown function with a mechanical memory programmable from 1 to 10 minutes which can be synchronized on the fly – a function that responds to the need for precise timing during the crucial starting sequence of a regatta. Rolex Yacht-Master Real vs. Fake 1. serial numbers. After 2009 Rolex decided to use a string of random numbers to create its serial numbers. You can check the authenticity of a Rolex by checking its serial number. Every Rolex has a serial number on it, and you can verify the authenticity of Rolex serial numbers through the manufacturer. A Rolex serial number is always engraved deeply into the metal, while the fake watches have serial numbers that may be simply etched with acid. The placement of the serial number is also a sign of whether it is a true Rolex or not. Look for the serial number on the 6 o’clock side where the band connects to the lug. On a new authentic Rolex watch, the serial number is seen on the inner bezel. 2. Caseback EngravingsFor Rolexes manufactured before 2007, a hologram of the crown logo is found on the caseback. Versions of Rolex manufactured after 2007 should not feature the logo. Most casebacks of newer versions are plain polished steel. With only a few exceptions, the caseback of authentic Rolex watches are usually kept clear of engravings and special features. To determine how to spot a fake Rolex Yacht-Master watch, you can examine the caseback. Some counterfeit watches have a clear back to show off the gears in an attempt to look like an authentic used Rolex. Actual authentic watches of the Rolex brand rarely have a clear back, as this was only used in a few vintage models. Similarly, some counterfeit watches have engravings with Rolex branding in an attempt to look like an authentic Rolex. If you want to figure out how to know if a Rolex is authentic, make sure that the back of the watch is clear. 3. Self-Winding And Mechanical MovementsRolex craftsmanship is of high quality, and often unmatched. Rolex creates top of the line precision watch components, while fake Rolexes tend to use lower-grade components that lack the Rolex stamp on them. The movement must have an engraved “movement model, Rolex logo etc” on it. The location of the engraving on the Rolex movement differs from one model to another. Unfortunately, you can’t usually tell the difference in components unless you open the watch up and view the clockwork inside. Luckily, there is one surefire way to identify cheaper components without opening up the watch: check the movement of the hands. A genuine Rolex has smooth movement of its watch hands, while a fake often has jerky movements that mirror other watch types. The precision of a Rolex is especially important for watches like the Yacht Master, which are used for racing purposes, so checking the movement of the hands is essential if you want to know how to spot a fake Rolex Yacht Master. Movements of Rolex Yacht-Master Movements of Rolex Yacht-Master II 4. Font ConsistencyAn authentic Rolex watch remains consistent in its crafting across the board. This means that the font type on all the text that appears on the watch should look the same. When you consider buying a Rolex Rolex Yacht-Master, how to spot a fake involves taking note of the consistency of the watch’s design. If you look at pictures of fake Rolexes, you will probably notice that different parts of the watch have slightly different fonts or spacing between different words. One of the best methods in how to know a genuine Rolex watch is to have a good eye for consistency and sharp attention to detail. 5. Date Appears BiggerThe cyclops glass feature at 3 o’clock is supposed to magnify the date number by 2.5x legibility. The cyclops glass always protrudes above the crystal, like a bubble—it is never flat and never fitted under the crystal. Run a finger over the watch crystal and feel the lens. You should feel a bump on the convex lens across the date. A flat Cyclops means that the Rolex watch is a fake. Another way to test it is to hold the watch sideways and look at the date without the Cyclops. If the size of the date appears the same, then it’s not a genuine Rolex watch. A other way to identify a fake Rolex is by observing its date feature. Rolex watches have an instantaneous date display, meaning the date changes precisely at midnight, not gradually. If a Rolex replica shows an in-between date (mid roll) on the dial, it is a telltale sign of a fake since the real Rolex would change the date immediately. This characteristic might not be noticeable unless you have the watch for more than a day, but ideally, you should have already identified the counterfeit before then. If you find yourself wondering whether the font or magnification on a watch looks right, take it to a seller or expert who you trust. 6. Weigh The Watch A genuine Rolex watch is always heavier than a knockoff. Before purchasing a watch, do some quick research on Google and check for the actual weight of the Rolex model you want to purchase. Then, weigh the item you are looking at. If it does not weigh the same amount as what you have researched, then it is surely a fake watch. 7. Water Resistance Although Rolex Submariner timepieces (along with the Sea-Dweller collection) are the only watches designed for deep-sea diving, all models like the Rolex Yacht-Master are water-resistant and perfectly sealed. Once you have the watch dip it in a cup of water for a few seconds and take it out. Before doing this, PLEASE be sure that the crown is securely tightened/screwed in. If there is any leaking of water into the watch on the dial or anything the watch is definitely a fake. All Rolex watches are 100% watertight and many counterfeit watches are not. However, it should be noted that a genuine Rolex watch that is in need of service or repairs may not be water resistant, so this is not a guaranteed way to identify a fake, and should only be done on modern Rolex watches, not vintage models or those that are visibly damaged. 8. Pip or PearlThe lume pip located at the 12 o’clock position on the authentic Rolex bezel is distinguished by a silver lining around it and fits seamlessly within the confines of the triangle marker surrounding it. Conversely, the lume pip on the counterfeit Rolex’s bezel has a larger, thicker border that extends outside the triangle marker’s boundary. Additionally, it lacks lume material, rendering it unable to glow in the dark like the authentic Rolex bezel’s pip. Knowing how to spot a fake Rolex prevents you from being scammed. Skip the pawn shop and second hand stores and always buy from an official Rolex dealer to guarantee that the products being sold are legitimate, even on pre owned Rolex watches. If the price is too good to be true, that tells you the watch is not the real deal. Rolex timepieces, after all, is made with high-quality materials and craftsmanship like no other, which explains its hefty price tag. In other words, the best way to figure out how to tell an authentic Rolex from a fake one is to consult a seller that you know to be trustworthy. This seller probably deals in authentic Rolexes and can help guide you on where to buy authentic Rolex watches if you can’t find what you need with that individual. The seller can also examine any Rolex watch you bring in to check for signs of a fake. To determine whether a particular seller is trustworthy, check customer reviews and examine the watches offered by that seller. In some cases, a seller might be able to show you the exact differences between a real vs. fake Rolex. Features of Rolex Yacht-Master Reviews: For those at sea, staying the course is a constant challenge. Defying the laws of logic, bearings can be lost suddenly in difficult conditions, thus requiring adaptability and the capacity to react quickly. Since 1992, the Yacht-Master – equipped with a bidirectional rotatable bezel – has become the established watch of masterful sailors who know how to react in order to keep their heading, in any situation. Technical and elegant, the Yacht-Master is a reliable nautical instrument. 1. Exceptional legibility Like all Rolex Professional watches, the Yacht-Master offers exceptional legibility in all circumstances, even in the dark thanks to its Chromalight display. The broad hands and hour markers in simple shapes – triangle, circle, rectangle – are filled with a luminescent material emitting a long-lasting glow. 2. Rolesium The Yacht-Master 37 and Yacht-Master 40 are the only two models in the Rolex catalogue offered in Rolesium versions: the bezel is fashioned from platinum while the rest of the watch is in Oystersteel. These versions also harbour a turquoise- or red-lacquer seconds hand echoing the colour of the Yacht-Master inscription on the dial. 3. 18 ct Everose gold This exclusive 18 ct pink gold alloy – created and cast by Rolex – features a slightly stronger colour than traditional pink gold and exhibits subtle cool tones. Its sophisticated and contemporary colour resonates particularly well on watches that combine gold and Oystersteel, known as Rolesor versions (a combination of Oystersteel and gold). 4. Cerachrom Bezel Insert The matt black monobloc Cerachrom bezel insert of the Yacht-Master is made of an extremely hard, virtually scratchproof ceramic whose colour is unaffected by ultraviolet rays, seawater or water that is chlorinated. In addition, thanks to its chemical composition, the high-tech ceramic is inert and cannot corrode. The numerals and inscriptions are moulded in the ceramic and coloured with gold or platinum using a PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) process. 5. Bracelets and Clasps 6. Calibres 3235 and 2236 Superlative Movements Features of Rolex Yacht-Master II Reviews: As a chronograph with a bold nautical character, the Yacht Master II occupies a singular place in the Rolex roster of Professional watches. It features an unprecedented mechanical function: a countdown that can be programmed and synchronized on the fly to adjust and re-adjust the watch to regatta start times. An essential tool for any coxswain and their decision-making process, as it allows them to take the best start towards victory. As for any voyage at sea, time management is vital in a regatta. At its launch in 2007, the Yacht-Master II features an unprecedented mechanical function: a programmable countdown with mechanical memory, synchronizable on the fly. A function that responds ideally to the need for precise timing during the crucial starting sequence of a regatta. This flexibility is one of the major assets of the Yacht-Master II; its development was a considerable technological challenge. The programming can be mechanically memorized, which makes it possible to start a new countdown without having to reprogramme the watch, for example in the next leg or a subsequent regatta with identical countdown duration. Furthermore, once the watch’s countdown is launched, it can be synchronized on the fly to match the official countdown via the ‘fly-back’ reset function of the seconds hand and adjustment of the countdown minute hand to the nearest minute. 1. Ring Command System Rolex achieved perfection when it turned its attention to redefining the purpose and functionality of the bezel. Typically, a bezel operates independently from the internal mechanism; however, the Ring Command bezel in the Yacht-Master II regatta chronograph operates in conjunction with it. As a mechanical component linked to the movement, the bezel literally acts as the key to the programmable countdown, allowing it to be set and synchronised to the sequence of race start times. Complex in design, but simple in use, it is functionally beautiful. The countdown’s sophisticated functions were designed to be easily set and operated. The preliminary programming of up to 10 minutes is accessed, and then locked, via the rotatable bezel thanks to Ring Command, a patented system of interaction between the bezel, the winding crown and the movement, developed by Rolex. A technical feat made possible by the brand’s in-house mastery of the entire watch design and manufacturing process, from the case to the movement. 2. A Distinctive Aesthetic The Yacht-Master II is equipped with a new dial, and new hands that are characteristic of Rolex Professional models, enhancing legibility and sharpening its aesthetic appeal. The dial now features a triangular hour marker at 12 o’clock and a rectangular hour marker at 6 o’clock for more intuitive reading of the watch. A luminescent disc on the hour hand clearly distinguishes it from the minute hand. The Yacht-Master II’s countdown can be programmed for a duration of between 1 and 10 minutes. The programming is memorized by the mechanism so that at a reset it returns to the previous setting. Once launched, the countdown can be synchronized on the fly to match the official race countdown. On the right-hand side of the middle case, the Yacht-Master II sports two countdown pushers, specially designed to suggest winches, the manual winding gear on a sail boat. The Yacht-Master II is always fitted on an Oyster bracelet with a Oysterlock safety clasp, equipped with an Easylink comfort extension link. The Yacht-Master II measures 44 mm in diameter, its large size contributing to the optimal legibility of the dial in all conditions. 3. Cerachrom Bezel Insert The blue monobloc Cerachrom bezel insert of the Yacht-Master II is made of an extremely hard, virtually scratchproof ceramic whose colour is unaffected by ultraviolet rays, seawater or water that is chlorinated. In addition, thanks to its chemical composition, the high-tech ceramic is inert and cannot corrode. The numerals and inscriptions are moulded in the ceramic and coloured with gold or platinum using a PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) process. 4. Oyster Bracelet The Oyster bracelet is a perfect alchemy of form and function, aesthetics and technology, designed to be both robust and comfortable. It is equipped with an Oysterlock folding clasp, which prevents accidental opening and the Easylink comfort extension link, also exclusive to Rolex. This ingenious system allows the wearer to increase the bracelet length by approximately 5 mm, providing additional comfort in any circumstance. 5. Calibre 4161 Superlative Movement The Yacht-Master II is equipped with calibre 4161, a self-winding mechanical chronograph movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. Its architecture, manufacturing quality and innovative features make it exceptionally precise and reliable. This abundance of Rolex technology includes a patented function – a programmable countdown with a mechanical memory – and comprises some 360 components. Some of them are made by UV-LiGA, a micromanufacturing technology entirely mastered in-house by Rolex. Is Yacht-Master A Good Investment? For a retail Rolex model, you will surely pay a premium – especially if you choose one of the precious metal models. Fake Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk crowncollection said: Fake Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Click to expand... Looks fake. Among other things the cyclop doesn't really magnify the date window. F A K E There's no part of the watch posted in the OP being authentic at all. I, too, doubt its authenticity, but I believe the model it's trying to be is the 16622. Releases early in the run wouldn't have an engraved rehaut. Finish and quality zero. Yeah even from the poor pictures that's immediately apparent to me. I'm wearing a submariner and one glance at my watch even though completely different model and it's plain obvious the fit and finish. ^^^ that, and the fact that one can tell from the picture that the metal is not platinum. There is a slight variation in colour tone between steel, white gold and platinum. I agree, the metal looks off Seen plenty of those in Mexico at street market stalls. Soooooooo, to answer your question.. lol It appears fake to my non-expert eyes, but I have not yet had several drinks which might make it look good and seem like a great deal. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Well guys settled, its Fake. Thank you all Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk F.A.F. The pictures are a dead giveaway too. The first completely useless and the second upside down - both common techniques used to confuse. At least Rolex is spelt correctly Thank goodness! I thought it might read as FOLEX [emoji23] the bezel has poor casting and machining. thats a red flag. Comes with a real yacht The red / orange writing on the dial looks wrong. Is there anything about it that doesn't look wrong? How could anyone who's ever seen one think it's real? The refief on the bezel (not to speak of other things) is so cheaply done, that you wouldn't find one of those in a bubble gum vending machine. This is an emetic. You need a master cast and not a cast taken from a bezel which came out of a master cast. If all fakes would be of that horrible quality, then we wouldn't have much problems with such trash, and whoever buys garbage like that, does really deserve it.
