We had my daughters baby shower in the upstairs of the club. It was a gorgeous setting with the water view. It was a brunch and food was fabulous and the service could not have been better. The Manager was absolutely the best and made sure that everything was exactly the way that we had requested. Many of the out of town guests went down to the beautiful bar area after the shower for a few cocktails and were made to feel very welcomed and treated with the utmost respect. I would definitely recommend GIYC for any events.

Poor service, cold food, angry staff, and rude members. Need I say more. If you are thinking about having a wedding here just move on. If you are thinking about becomming a member here beware...they need membership money badly and will say whatever they need to to get you to join.

It's very frustrating to have a great experience spoiled over a petty dispute that most likely occurred because of a lack of communication. If I had to do it all over again I would have my wedding at the Dearborn Inn, which is a little less expensive and they include a honeymoon room for the night and also the champagne for toasting.

Ford Yacht Club Heated Pool

• No lifeguard, all swimming is at your own risk.
• Enclosed bathrooms and showers for both men and women.
• Pool house also has a laundry area at the west end of the building with coin operated washer and dryer for members and guest use.
• Pool deck has lounge chairs, tables with umbrellas and chairs.  
• Permanent outside bar with high top chairs; food and drink can be ordered from the kitchen and enjoyed at the pool side bar when posted.
• Pool was built with a swim up pool bar which is currently not open yet.
• Pool season: opened in the spring through September, weather permitting.

• All guests are required to sign the guest book in the clubhouse if purchasing alcohol from the Lounge by State Law.
• Ford Yacht Club is a Private Club open to members, their guests and members of affiliated yacht clubs.
• Young children are not allowed on the stairways and balconies without a parent or guardian.
• Minors may dine in the Lounge if accompanied by a parent or guardian. They are not allowed in the Lounge after 9pm.
• Proper attire please. Shoes and shirts must be worn at all times in the clubhouse. Men’s shirts must have sleeves; no bathing suits.
• Clubhouse washroom facilities are available 24/7.
• If you have food, please take your dirty dishes to the Dining Room or Lounge when done.
• Please leave the room clean and orderly.
• Video games and controllers are available in the Lounge. Return them when you are done.
• Please register your boat with the Harbor Master or Lounge staff upon entry into the club.
• Our Harbors are a No Wake Zone.
• Boats entering have the right of way over boats leaving the harbors.
• Sailboats are to be operated under power within the channels/harbors.
• All Sailboat Halyards must be secured so they don’t slap the mast on windy days.
• Charcoal grills may not be used on docks or boats.
• Swimming is not permitted in the East or West harbors due to the potential of electrical shock.
• All children under the age of 12 must wear a P.F.D. while on the docks or within 10 feet of any shoreline.
• Please refrain from excessive or loud music. Quiet time is 11 pm to 11 am.
• Pets must be kept on a leash at all times. Owners are responsible for their clean up with waste bags available around the marina.

• Junior Member—This class of membership provides limited club social services with limited marina services to individuals between 18 & 26 years of age
• Basic Member—This class of membership provides all club social services with limited marina services.
• Regular Member—This class of membership provides all club services except the right to a permanent dock assignment. Launch ramp access and trailer boat storage is the key feature to this membership class.
• Equity Member—This class of membership provides all club services and the right to a permanent dock, dependent on availability.

Club has gas and a pumpout. Also has a kitchen open Wednesday through Sunday - and a bar open Tuesday through Sunday night. Great place great prices. Call in on channel 9 - boat sizes may be limited to 40' and below.

The Ford Yacht Club is a family-oriented organization located  at the southwestern tip of Grosse Ile, Michigan. The 174 acres of wooded grounds and Round Island provide a very beautiful and secluded setting as the Detroit River merges into Lake Erie. The complex includes a marina facility and a Clubhouse with all the necessary amenities. These offerings provide well-rounded boating and social activities for the enjoyment of the members and  guests.

The Ford Yacht Club is a not-for-profit corporation, owned and  operated by the members. A Board of Directors elected by the Equity members administers all financial and operating functions.

For the most part, member volunteer effort is used for small or  recurring projects and for equipment and facility maintenance. Each member is  required to put forth work hours, based on membership status.
