First one is the Episcopal Complex of the Euphrasian Basilica in the Historic Centre of Porec, with the earliest constructions dating back to 313. The basilica features outstanding mosaics and tiled illustration. The Cathedral of St. James in Sibenik is the second site on the list and represents a cultural mix of Northern Italy, Dalmatia and Tuscany of the 15th and 16th centuries. Trogir, situated northwest of Split boasts beautiful Romanesque churches and Venetian-era Renaissance and Baroque constructions. Split's Diocletian's Palace is another UNESCO monument and a historical complex built in the 3rd and 4th centuries by Roman emperor Diocletian. Moving onto the island of Hvar, although unknown to many tourist, Stari Grad Plain is also on the UNESCO list. This is an ancient stone wall that divides the land into twenty-four plots of grapes and olives, which have been continuously used for the past 2400 years. The Old City of Dubrovnik is also popular with discerning yacht charter tourists, with its Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches, monasteries and palaces, as well as fabulous atmosphere, lovely cafes, bars and a vibrant nightlife. The seventh UNESCO Heritage site are the Plitvice Lakes, located inland Croatia.

NATURAL PARKS IN CROATIA

There are numerous beautiful natural parks in Croatia well worth visiting when holidaying on a Croatia superyacht charter. Located on the western coast of Istria, National Park Brijuni consists of two larger and twelve smaller islands. Mljet National Park on the island of Mljet is perhaps the most significant protected area on the Southern Dalmatian coast. Mljet island is regarded as one of the most alluring islands to visit in Croatia, with the 12th century Benedictine monastery being one of its cultural heritage attractions. Krka with its seven amazing waterfalls is another famous and popular national park in Croatia, which deserves a day-trip inland. In addition to the waterfalls, historical monuments such as the Franciscan monastery on the little island of Visovac and the Krka Orthodox monastery are also sought-after attractions for visitors. Renowned for peculiar karstic formations - Hajducki kukovi and Rozanski kukovi, the Northern Velebit National Park offers biggest selection of flora and fauna in Croatia. There is also a pothole Lukina Jama (Luka's pothole) or a lovely botanical garden to visit.

Once you have landed in Croatia and picked up your rental car from the designated office, we wish you a safe and enjoyable journey!

In Croatia, driving is on the right-hand side. A valid driving license from your home country is required, and depending on your country of origin, you may also need an International Driving Permit (IDP).

The speed limits in Croatia are generally 50 km/h in urban areas, 90 km/h on secondary roads, and 130 km/h on highways, subject to change based on road conditions and signage. From November 15 to April 15 , winter tires or snow chains are mandatory on certain roads, especially in mountainous areas. By law, vehicles in Croatia must carry a reflective safety vest and a warning triangle. These should be used in case of breakdowns or accidents. But don't worry – we take care of those, if you choose our rental car! The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.05% for drivers over 24 years of age . For drivers under 24 years old, the limit is 0.00% . Penalties for driving under the influence are strict and can include heavy fines, license suspension, or imprisonment. Drivers must stop for pedestrians at marked crosswalks, as pedestrians always have the right of way.

In urban areas, pay attention to parking zones marked by different colors: blue zones indicate paid parking, while yellow zones are reserved for specific uses (like deliveries or disabled parking).

While fuel stations are readily available in cities and along highways, they may be less frequent in remote or rural areas. It is advisable to fill up your tank when traveling to less-populated regions.

Croatia has a network of toll roads ( autoceste ) that connect major cities and regions. Tolls can be paid in cash, by credit card, or through the ENC electronic toll collection system.

• How to reach: From Split Airport, it's a 30-minute drive (around 25 km) via the D8 road. Follow the signs to Split city center and head towards the waterfront where several paid parking options are available near the old town.

• How to reach: From Dubrovnik Airport, take the D8 coastal road north for about 20 km, approximately a 30-minute drive. There are several parking garages outside the Old Town, such as the public parking lot at Ilijina Glavica, from where you can walk to the city walls.

4. Krka National Park

Krka National Park is known for its waterfalls, especially Skradinski Buk, a massive, multi-tiered waterfall. The park also offers swimming areas, boat tours, and trails for walking or cycling.

• How to reach: From Split, take the E65 highway north for about 1.5 hours (around 85 km). Follow the signs to the park's main entrance at Skradin, where there is parking available. From there, you can take a boat ride into the park or walk to the waterfalls.

5. Pula Arena

The Pula Arena is one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world and is still used for concerts and events. It’s a must-visit for history buffs interested in Roman architecture.

• How to reach: From Rijeka, drive south along the A8 highway for about 1.5 hours (around 105 km). Once in Pula, follow signs to the city center where parking is available near the amphitheater, especially in the nearby car parks like Karolina and Riva.

6. Zlatni Rat Beach, Brač Island

Zlatni Rat is one of Croatia’s most iconic beaches, famous for its unique shape that changes with the tide and wind. It’s located on Brač Island, offering crystal-clear waters and a great spot for swimming, windsurfing, and sunbathing.

• How to reach: Drive to Split or Makarska and take the car ferry to Brač Island (about 1 hour). Once on Brač, drive to Bol, where Zlatni Rat Beach is located. Parking is available close to the beach, but it can get crowded, so early arrival is recommended.
