Lil Yachty Rap Snacks flavors: The purple bag will be the hot chili pepper and lime flavor, and the orange bag will feature the hot Crunchy Curls!

Rap Snacks is on a roll: earlier this month hip hop recording artist and singer Lil Yachty used his Instagram account to announce he’s getting his own Rap Snacks flavor(s) as well. Lil Yachty is following Migos and Fetty Wap in getting a flavor of Rap Snacks chips named after him. The two flavors of "oowee" crunchy curls are "Hot Chili Pepper and Lime" and one named simply "Hot". Last month, Fabolous's “New York Deli Cheddar” flavor chips were revealed as part of Rap Snack's 2017 brand relaunch. Meanwhile, Migos wrote and recorded a full-length jingle for their iconic "Sour Cream With A Dab Of Ranch." So although there is no release date on when or where the Rap Snacks will be available, Lil Boat gave a hint on Instagram “Coming soon too *winky face*”!

Lil Yachty Links Up With Rap Snacks To Roll Out His Very Own Cheetos-Inspired Flavors

Uproxx authors

Lil Yachty is slowly carving out his own empire. With a Nautica collaboration and Sprite commercial already under his belt, the 19-year-old rapper has just announced a new partnership with Rap Snacks.

The Romeo Miller-owned snack company (yes, Lil Romeo) has already worked with the likes of Fetty Wap, Migos, Lil Boosie and Romeo himself on a variety of packages. Those affiliations followed faces like Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Master P and Meek Mill. Just a few weeks ago Fabolous got his own flavor (New York Deli Cheddar). Migos’s “Dab of Ranch” remains the most popular. Now comes Yachty.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BRW6cX0DLqD/?taken-by=lilyachty

Announced Tuesday, the partnership features two flavors of chips named “Lil Yachty’s Crunchy Curls” that seem to be takes on Cheetos. Both purport to be “oowee, flaming hot” while one offers a lime zest in addition to the hot chili pepper. While the release date has yet to be announced, Lil Boat indicates that they are “coming soon.”

This could really only be a start for Yachty. Not long ago he Instagrammed a photo of a cereal box called “Lil Boats” from Denmark. While the name was similar to the name of his debut mixtape, maybe this is another project he has in the pipeline? Only time will tell.

Lil Yachty’s Own Rap Snacks Flavor Is Coming Soon

On Monday night (March 7),  Lil Yachty  used his Instagram account to announce he's getting his own Rap Snacks flavor, and in a world where questions of morality pop up everyday, few things feel as unimpeachably right.

The  Lil Boat   artist's Instagram post includes picture of two colorful bags of Rap Snacks, each bearing an image of Yachty with his hands clasped on the side of his face. Just beneath the Rap Snacks logo, we see the words '"Oowee Flaming Hot." Further below that, we see the name of the specific flavor on each bag.

On the purple bag we see "LIL YACHTY'S HOT CHILLI PEPPER AND LIME." On the reddish orange bag, we see "LIL YACHTY's CRUNCHY CURLS." Yachty doesn't offer up an exact date for the release of his rap snacks, but in the caption for the photo he notes they are "coming soon."

Yachty's announcement comes just a few weeks after Fabolous revealed he was following in the Migos' footsteps by introducing a Rap Snacks flavor of his own . The  Summertime Shootout 2   artist's “New York Deli Cheddar” flavor of chips were the latest to be released in Rap Snacks' 2017 brand relaunch.

Yachty and Fabolous' flavors join a line of chips that include Romeo Miller’s flavor “Bar-B-Quin with My Honey,” Migos’ flavor “Sour Cream with a Dab of Ranch," ”Fetty Wap’s flavor “Honey Jalapeño” and Lil Boosie’s flavor “Louisiana Heat.” Now that sounds like good eating.

Advertising Week New York 2017

Universal Music, Mass Appeal, Spotify Execs Talk Branding In a Hip-Hop World at NYC's Advertising…

Lindsay says it’s the years spent working with Meek Mill where he saw changes in the music industry that signaled the time was right to bring Rap Snacks back. “I just noticed that with the internet these kids were really into items that were approved by the artists and I knew that I created a brand years ago that I could rebrand and make synonymous with what’s going on in today’s world,” he says. “Social media has played a big part in the resurgence of Rap Snacks, because people knew about it but everybody didn’t know about it.”

As far as the business goes, Lindsay says each flavor is a partnership with the artist. “I told these guys, ‘You make what I make,'” he says. “The new version of Rap Snacks is something just to teach these guys the power of their brand. Years ago they needed a lot of these big companies to pay them to do X, Y and Z, now they’re becoming the brand where they can sell through all their social media followers and they don’t really need those big companies anymore. They can make a lot of money just promoting their own brand.”

And, maybe in this case, their own chips too.

SPOTLIGHT :

When you’re coming up make sure you focus on something that you really love to do. Do your research, be innovative and outwork everybody.

My big break  came two years ago, when we relaunched Rap Snacks, because social media had caught up with the Rap Snacks brand. The Migos’ Rap Snacks jingle was the breaking point.

Dealing with musicians  is very different because you have to learn how to think like they think. A lot of times they are in a more creative space when it comes to business. You have to learn how to meet them in the middle in order to build relationships and get the job done.

I’ve learned  to move in silence. I’ve learned to also be patient and be very strategic about how you move.

The best advice I’ve received is to do you… Be you, believe in your talents and bet on yourself instead of other people.

Rap Snacks usually has portrait-style drawings from illustrator William Moses Floyd, but it looks like they’re going away from that formula this time. The photo of Lil Yachty doesn’t seem to be drawn, and we could be wrong, but this looks like an actual photo of Lil Boat.

Rap Snacks and Lil Yachty teased the collab in early March, posting mockup bags with  Hot Crunchy Curls and Chilli Pepper and Lime Crunchy Curls, but that was just a mockup. While it looks like they’re still sticking with fiery chips, it looks like they decided to go with hot cheese fries instead of crunchy curls.

The popular hip-hop inspired snacks have recently featured the likes of Migos and even New York legend Fabolous, but Lil Yachty now adds a little bit more heat to the roster.

Rap Snacks CEO Discusses The Black-Owned Brand’s 25-Year Rise From The Corner Store To Walmart

Rap Snacks CEO Discusses The Black-Owned Brand’s 25-Year Rise From The Corner Store To Walmart

It seems like out of nowhere, potato chip bags with rap artists on the packaging suddenly popped up on our favorite corner store shelves. Those chips are part of a company called Rap Snacks, Inc . Its CEO and founder, James Lindsay, told Blavity that eventually Rap Snacks will become one of the most recognized snack food brands in the world.

Only time will tell if Lindsay reaches that goal. But right now, one thing is certain, the Black-owned brand has one of the most distinct packagings in the potato chip industry — with bold flavors to match.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by James Lindsay (@askfly1) on Nov 6, 2019 at 6:37am PST

"Everything that we do is an original flavor," Lindsay said. "When I first started the company I was the first one to do a honey barbecue. Now, everyone has one."

Rap Snacks introduced its inaugural flavored potato chips, Bar-B-Quin' with my Honey, in 1994. Back then, rapper Romeo Miller, whom we called Lil' Romeo, graced the package. Now, the company is thriving with over a dozen unique flavor profiles ranging from honey jalapeño potato chips to habanero hot cheese popcorn. And with their expanded flavors, Rap Snacks has increased the roster of hip-hop artists on its packages and made its way into nation-wide Walmarts.

Some might be surprised to learn the chips have a history that exceeds 25 years. But Lindsay, who earned a marketing degree from Cheyney University, isn't new to the  snack food industry. He built the company from an idea into a five million dollar business, before hitting a financial cap that required him to take a step back and update his business plan. During the time away, he worked as a brand manager for rapper Meek Mill — both men are from Philly.

"It really helped me open my eyes to who I should put on the bags [and] who I shouldn't put on the bags," Lindsay shared. "At the time Meek was doing lots of music with the Migos."

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Rap Snacks | EST 1994 (@officialrapsnacks) on Oct 13, 2018 at 11:05am PDT

When Lindsay heard the Migos, he knew the rap trio would become breakout stars. That intuition led him to make Migos the face of Rap Snacks' Sour Cream with a dab of Ranch flavored chips. Consumers almost instantly connected with the image of Takeoff, Quavo and Offset, who were fresh off the success of their 2016 album Bad and Boujee. The Rap Snacks relaunch also came with a new business partnership with rap mogul Master P. All developments couldn't have arrived at a better time.

Fast-forward to now; Fetty Wap, Cardi B , Trina, Lil' Boosie, Lil Yachty and other big rap names have joined artists such as Meek Mill, Master P, Young Joc and Ol' Dirty Bastard on Rap Snacks' packaging. The brand even released an icon edition that features rap legend Biggie Smalls. While there's nothing novel about combining celebrity faces with commercial products, Rap Snacks has a greater mission that includes truly representing the culture. The company is just one of the 2.76 million corporations that make up the mere 9% of Black-owned U.S. businesses.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Rap Snacks | EST 1994 (@officialrapsnacks) on Dec 6, 2019 at 10:19am PST

When Lindsay brainstorms flavor ideas, he works with rappers to craft a taste they enjoy. But even more rewarding, Lindsay is building a company that elevates how Black and brown faces are represented on product packaging.

"If you could do a search of any item that African Americans are presently on, you have Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben," Lindsay pointed out. "You don't have any packaging that are people of color [who are] thriving. I look at Cardi B and Migos. They are thriving."

Rap Snacks seems to have an authentic and inspiring vision. Even better, they are leading by example and bringing everyone along for the ride — including the vegans. Lindsay shared that his company has partnered with the successful Black-owned plant-based restaurant, Slutty Vegan to produce vegan potato chips. The packaging showcases Slutty Vegan owner Pinky Cole, who made the news when she  paid off tuition balances for 30 Clark Atlanta University seniors. This is Black economic mobility and we love to see it.

Lindsay's intentional partnerships with hip-hop artists and Black brands reinforce his mission. Its bigger than music and food. He has positioned himself as a business and community leader who has the resources to pour knowledge into the next generation. With the Rap Snacks Foundation and its BossUp program, Lindsay is paying it forward by teaching others how to build successful businesses as well.

"Rap Snacks is out the box," the entrepreneur said. "It's something that I started selling at the corner store. Now it's at Walmart … it just gives people motivation that we have a market there. Instead of continuing to be consumers, now we are becoming producers. And we're creating our own brands that we can buy. And hopefully that money will go back into the community to help other people coming behind us."

Frito-Lay might have some competition this year as Lil Yachty is looking to get into the potato chip business. Last night, the young rap star took to Instagram to announce that he’s partnering with Rap Snacks to release his own line of potato chip flavors: “Lil Yachty’s Hot Chilli Pepper and Lime” and “Lil Yachty’s Crunchy Curls.” The Instagram photo also shows a picture of the two chip bag designs, both of which display an image of a surprised Yachty, complimented with an “Oowee Flaming Hot” insignia on top. No release date was mentioned, but the Instagram caption notes that they are “coming soon.”

Everything About Rap Snacks Is Amazing

Image may contain Human and Person

At Denny’s, my neighborhood convenience store in Southwest Atlanta, it’s not uncommon to find myself eye-to-eye with Fetty Wap. I’ll be shuffling through bags of mixed nuts and whoa—there he is. Though he looks much more like the video game version of a wax statue than his true self, his face—and a handful of other rappers—decorates the packaging of Rap Snacks . Each artist gets their own flavor; Fetty Wap’s got Honey Jalapeño . And then there’s Lil Boosie’s Louisiana Heat, Fabolous’ New York Deli Cheddar, Migos’ Sour Cream with a Dab of Ranch , and Romeo’s Bar-B-Quin with My Honey.

CEO James “Fly” Lindsay was inspired by his upbringing in inner-city Philadelphia to launch Rap Snacks in 1994 alongside hip hop star Master P , who he was brand manager for at the time. “Unfortunately, when you grow up in the inner-city, a lot of times snacks become your breakfast, lunch, and dinner,” he says. Rap Snacks were originally available in only Washington D.C., Baltimore, and Philly. Around 2011, the brand got quiet. “I never stopped making them,” Lindsay says. “...For a while we'd just kind of operate them in three or four marketplaces. You know, until I felt like there's a lot more opportunity to come back and repackage the brand.” That opportunity arrived in July 2016 and marked Rap Snacks’ relaunch. Now they’re found in convenience stores from Maine to Florida, some parts of the Midwest, and Texas.

“[As a kid,] I used to buy all these little small bags of chips and put them in one bag and shake them up,” Lindsay says, crediting the experience for refining his taste buds. That’s also part of why he prioritizes the chips’ small price tag; a 1.5-oz. bag originally sold for $0.25 and today, it’s around $1.29 per 2.75-oz. bag.

Rap Snacks’ original mascot was MC Potato , but he was replaced with actual hip hop musicians after a year of production following a deal with Universal Records to feature the label’s artists. One of the first bags featured the New Orleans rapper then known as Lil Romeo (now he’s just Romeo Miller. Also, yes, he is Master P’s son), a sweet barbecue flavor dubbed Bar-B-Quin’ With My Honey. “I was the first one to develop the honey barbecue chip,” Lindsay says. (Herr’s rolled out the country’s first barbecue-flavored chip in 1958 Pennsylvania, but Lindsay’s is honey barbecue.) Since originally debuting 20-something years ago, Romeo’s chip remains the only O.G. variety that’s still in production—coincidentally, Rome bought the company in August 2007. His flavor has undergone five different bag designs, Lindsay says. An early rendition suggests, “Stay in School.”

The chips themselves, it should be said, are standard fare. Romeo’s barbecue chips are like your typical barbecue potato chip but slightly sweeter. Fabolous’s cheesy chips have ridges and are a bit like SunChips basted in oil and rolled in cheese dust. Boosie’s spicy chips don’t taste like much until a slow burn blooms into full-on fire.

Rap Snacks’ real value is its aesthetic in packaging. Early bags featured stylized photos or cartoon versions of rappers, though the designers and artists vary. PSA slogans decorate the bags, ranging from the classic after school special refrain “Stay Away From Guns” on a bag of barbecue honey popcorn to the wildly confusing “Pimp education.” Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s Sour Cream & Onion urges consumers to “Think responsibly.” Romeo’s latest packaging nods to Master P, saying, “My pops taught me to keep your head on straight and do what you love.” Lindsay says he likes to give artists the opportunity and platform to spread whatever message they want.

Then, last summer, the sun rose over the dawn of a new era for Rap Snacks. Atlanta area trio Migos had already gained some mainstream traction by the time Lindsay approached them to help with a brand reinvention. He arranged a meeting to let them taste a new ranch flavor: “They really felt that was kind of funny at the beginning but I said, ‘This could be big for you guys.’” They were in, and even recorded an official Rap Snacks jingle for the July 2016 relaunch.

That’s about how most new chip flavors and associated cover stars are decided. Lindsay has a major hand in developing a flavor profile. From there, he considers who’s popping or about to be and approaches the artist(s) about collaborating. Then contracts are signed and we’re blessed with yet another bag of Rap Snacks. Currently, Lindsay preps to drop four new flavors featuring two artists this August: Lil Yachty gets Owee crunchy curls in both Hot Chilli Pepper and Lime and simply Hot; Trina will have cheese puffs in Honey Jalapeño and Honey Dew (yes, melon-flavored chips). There are some rumors Trina may release an updated jingle for the company.

And how do the artists feel about their chips? Both Meek Mill (who Lindsay has co-managed for the past six years, helping with some of the rapper’s branding) and Master P are very public fans of the snack food, posting videos to the Internet of kitchen drawers and a Rolls Royce trunk's full of the snacks .

Instagram content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

A snack company touting hip hop-themed potato chips with positive messaging (and, more recently, QR codes that lead to previously unreleased material from the bag’s star) is so remarkably niche, it inspires cult levels of fandom. YouTube user DJ Smallz Eyes 2 has a recurring series of artists taste-testing the snacks and giving an “honest review.” The official Rap Snacks Instagram hashtag, # rapsnacksigotchips , is a treasure trove ranging from babies housing bags of Fabolous’s New York Deli Cheddar to folks posing with their chips and grills.

In a way, Rap Snacks functions as both an extension of artist merch as well as necessary nosh. It poses an entry point for being part of a crew without the pretension of foodie culture. Maybe Migos’ was even talking about Rap Snacks specifically in “T-Shirt” with lines like “Do it for the culture/ They gon’ bite like vultures.”

Lil Yachty Fan Screams "F**k KARRAHBOOO" During Moment Of Silence For Juice WRLD

Sexyy Red 4 President Tour Official After Party

At a recent show, Lil Yachty asked the crowd to spend a moment in silence to honor Juice WRLD 's memory. Most people in the crowd followed suit and paid their respects, although there were some rowdy folks that started to yell stuff out. Moreover, one of these exclamations even made him laugh before getting into his next song. "F**k KARRAHBOOO!" someone shouted, which made both the crowd and the Atlanta artist crack up. His reaction indicates that he's still got some hard feelings for the former Concrete Boys affiliate... Or, alternatively, that he's possibly laughing at this beef not being as deep as fans think behind the scenes.

But sadly, the very nasty and combative interactions between Lil Yachty and KARRAHBOOO suggest that the former option is the more likely one. For those unaware, the two started to clash about a month after news broke that she left the group. They accused each other of toxic behavior, with Yachty also claiming that he wrote the large majority of her material. As for KARRAH, she also hinted at there being some skeletons in his closet that relate to darker industry secrets. Of course, this is all mostly hearsay, so take it with a grain of salt.

Lil Yachty's Moment Of Silence Interrupted By KARRAHBOOO Diss

They've kept throwing some shots back and forth at each other online, but things have mostly quieted down since a bit over a week ago. In fact, ironically enough, one of the last updates we got to this whole saga is that KARRAHBOOO sent shade Lil Yachty's way during one of her recent concerts . She repeated the phrase "Who ain't write it?" during one of her songs, addressing his ghostwriting allegations. Again, we doubt that these two will reconcile in the near future, although we can't act too surprised if this was all for show.

Hopefully we're wrong, and they realize that they can focus on their own endeavors without having to beef with each other. But with these other public interactions or statements in mind, an escalation isn't out of the picture either. At least Lil Yachty and KARRAHBOOO don't have much other beef beyond what's happening with Concrete Boys. People thought Big Sean sent some shots , but that was a false alarm.
