Revealed: Feadship's 72.6m superyacht concept Project 2024
Dutch yacht builder Feadship has teamed up with Nauta Design to present a 72m fast-track superyacht concept named Project 2024.
Revealed during an online press conference, Project 2024 was created in partnership with Nauta and features naval architecture penned by Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects.
The concept was created as an answer to various client requests, the yard said, and is specifically designed for clients who “have neither experience nor interest in the complex technical aspects of a new build”.
Instead, Project 2024 offers an “enormous range of bespoke premium quality choices”. All core technical elements have already been devised, with essential engineering and naval architecture complete.
This will allow clients to save on delivery time and leave them free to “create their own custom Feadship”. As a result, the superyacht can be ready for delivery in time for the 2024 summer season.
Speaking about the concept, chief marketing officer Farouk Nefzi said Project 2024 was inspired by a slew of futuristic superyacht concepts presented by designers throughout the market.
“We have been witnessing many beautiful future concepts where new technology and amazing fantasies have been displayed. But the big question is what is really possible today and what kind of innovation can be incorporated today.”
Feadship said the project is “very different from any other superyacht concept design available on the market” and has been “thought through to the highest degree of accuracy”
It came about when Nauta and the yard were collaborating on another Feadship superyacht project, as the yard explained: “Their warm relationship inspired them to consider how their shared ideal Feadship might look for prospective clients enquiring about how to bypass the early technical stage of a new build development.”
Together with Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects, Nauta and Feadship spent several months of design and development creating a “custom project that would integrate all their shared expertise”.
The result is the 72m Project 2024, a fully Tier III complaint superyacht built from a steel hull and aluminium superstructure.
Speaking about the concept, Feadship chief executive Jan-Bart Verkuyl said the design team had tried to incorporate a range of design trends dominating the market. These include sustainability, forward-thinking innovation and design, explorer yachts and futuristic features.
“We tried to create a platform for clients to spend high-quality time with their families. The result is a family-oriented yacht which is 70 metres and features all the design trends. We know people like to be able to explore from the yacht so we have a touch and go helicopter pad on the bow, lots of glass and lots of connection between the outside and inside.”
Key exterior features include large windows, a low profile and “understated” bulwarks, with the superyacht offering far-reaching ocean views and connecting interior and exterior areas.
The 564 sqm of interior space is completely customisable according to the tastes and wishes of the owner and includes accommodation for 12 guests across a full-beam master cabin, VIP cabin and eight additional cabins that can be arranged as either doubles or twins.
Positioned forward of the main deck, the master cabin is described as “an oasis of personal privacy and pleasure” with fine fabrics and laminated surfaces to create “an air of transparency”. The bedroom features walk-in his and hers walk-in wardrobes, a lounge and private balcony and leads into the upper deck, which features a sky lounge and outdoor dining facilities.
Forward of the upper deck has been earmarked as a touch-and-go helideck, however this could be developed into an additional seating area if the owner desires.
The sun deck above is divided into three different zones. The forward area is equipped with a Jacuzzi and set up for sunbathing while the central area is dedicated to a dining area for 12 guests sheltered by sliding transparent windbreaker panels. A bar area sits aft. Additionally, an elevator can transport guests around the yacht while a full-height food lift covers all decks.
Back on the main deck, the aft area moves “seamlessly” into the main saloon, which is divided into a lounge and dining area with full-height windows and far-reaching ocean views. There is also the option to include fold-out balconies here, extending the lounge over the water.
One particular standout feature – the beach club – is found aft of the lower deck. The design includes foldout side wings that extend the beach club by an estimated 80%. The area also includes a 3.3 metre swimming pool and plentiful seating. The beach club is closely connected to the main deck aft with gently sloping stairs – an intentional design feature that will allow parents to keep a close eye on their playing children on the beach club below.
Speaking about the beach club concept, Verkuyl said: “Lots of beach clubs are being developed inside the yachts but also we’re seeing the beach clubs opening up more and more. It’s an elegant space connecting you with the water around you - a place you would like to spend high-quality time with your family.”
Project 2024 includes accommodation for a total of 18 crew members, including a dedicated captain’s cabin and eight additional cabins on the lower deck.

The 141.6-metre Nord was designed with one idea in mind: she must cause strong emotions in every observer, not only through her sheer size, but with the design itself. Responsible for her stunning exterior and interior design is the Italian design studio Nuvolari-Lenard, who have given Nord her striking appearance with a bow design never before seen on a yacht. The 2021 delivered yacht Nord has implemented an exhaust after treatment system, which consists of the combination of a silencer with a selective catalytic reduction in the same casing, which can achieve a cleaning rate up to 97 % of nitrogen and additional reduction of acoustic noise – a Lürssen development.

New build yacht faq.
The yacht-building process is the ultimate journey for any prospective yacht Owner, allowing you to tailor every detail to your exacting requirements. New build yacht projects involve a considerable amount of creativity and freedom of expression, from pre-designed and semi-custom yachts to fully custom superyacht builds.
The yacht-building process requires a significant number of important decisions as an Owner, so having the support and expertise of an experienced yacht brokerage company is essential to ensure things run smoothly. At YACHTZOO, we coordinate your yacht build with key players across the industry to ensure we deliver the yacht of your dreams. Discover all you need to know about the yacht -building process to help you define your options.
What are the benefits of building your own yacht?
A custom yacht enables the Owner to build a vessel that precisely meets their needs. Whether you seek a cutting-edge sailing yacht designed for long-range cruising, an opulent superyacht designed for exploring luxury blue water havens or a state-of-the-art ocean explorer for navigating uncharted waters, a new build yacht can be made to match any lifestyle.
The main benefit of building your own yacht is the element of personalization it brings. When building a custom yacht, nothing is off-limits from the size, layout, amenities, interiors, and exterior design.
A custom yacht also allows for the option to choose a reduced carbon footprint by utilizing the latest eco-friendly technology, including state-of-the-art hybrid propulsion systems, wastewater recovery systems, and solar panels.
With the currently low inventory due to unprecedented yacht sales over the past two years, building your dream yacht may be the ideal option.
How long does it take to build a yacht?
The time of the yacht building process can vary considerably depending on the size, type, interiors, technical considerations, customization, and extra amenities you wish to have onboard, as well as the shipyard and their availability. On average, yacht construction can take anywhere from 18 months to 4 years. You can see below our estimations depending on the type of yacht you want to design.
What is a fully custom yacht?
A fully custom superyacht is pure luxury in yacht construction. Every aspect of aesthetic and technical design is bespoke and constructed to your specifications. A fully custom yacht build is an exciting yet complex undertaking, requiring 2.5 to 4 years to develop. The road from concept to the yacht-building process can be long and involves considerable research and planning.
Building a custom superyacht can be a superb experience when working alongside a reputable yacht brokerage like YACHTZOO. Our highly skilled agents can assist with all aspects of project management, from liaising with the shipyards, engineers, and interior designers, to the yacht’s classification and flag.
What is a semi-custom yacht?
A semi-custom yacht allows for the best of both worlds when it comes to the yacht-building process, offering faster lead times and reduced costs, as well as larger flexibility to personalize the vessel to your exact tastes and lifestyle.
Built on a proven platform – and sometimes on spec – this option reduces delivery time by around a third or more, taking 2 to 3 years to complete on average. While you may not have control over the pre-engineering and technical specifications, a varying degree of customization is still available throughout the interior design and options list of the semi-custom models to ensure the creation of a yacht bespoke to you.
What is a production yacht?
A production yacht is a tried and trusted way to keep costs and delivery time considerably lower than custom construction projects. While production yachts offer the least amount of creative freedom in terms of design, layout, and interior, many production yachts boast flexible layouts and interior design options, allowing for your own personal touch in a fraction of the usual yacht build time. The typical building process for a production yacht should take 1.5 to 2 years.
Whether you are looking to purchase a fully-custom, semi-custom, or production yacht, YACHTZOO’s experienced team takes the time to understand exactly your requirements, expectations, and parameters.
Why choose us?

Phases of a new build
The construction of a new yacht is an exciting and rewarding process, requiring careful planning and attention to detail. While each new construction and shipyard will be unique, they follow a similar approach.
Design and planning
This is the first and most crucial phase of any new build. Our team will work closely with you to determine your needs and preferences. We will need to discuss your specific requirements: What kind of build do you want? Where do you plan to cruise? What kind of performance will your vessel need? What spaces and amenities do you envision having aboard?
We will then advise which shipyards, architects and designers are the most suitable for your project and work with them to create a customized design to meet your needs.
Hull construction
Once the design is finalized, hull construction begins. Our team will liaise with your chosen shipyard to ensure that high-quality materials and advanced construction techniques are used to create a strong and durable hull that will withstand the rigors of the sea. Throughout the hull construction phase, we closely communicate with the shipyard to monitor progress and ensure the work is carried out to your specifications.
Interior and deck construction
With the hull complete, the focus shifts to the interiors and deck spaces. Skilled artisans will install wiring, plumbing and other systems and create the various rooms and interior and exterior living spaces.
Sea trials and delivery
The final construction phase involves several sea trials to test the yacht’s performance and ensure all systems function correctly. Once this has been completed to your satisfaction, your vessel is ready to be delivered.
Yacht design
What sort of build are you interested in? You have options.
Generally, there are three kinds of builds, each with pros and cons. They depend on the level of customization you’d like.
Production builds are usually part of a line of pre-designed vessels. They often have standard features and accessories and offer the least customizability. They usually are the fastest to deliver and the least expensive option but can be hard to modify or upgrade after purchase. However, because they are pre-designed, they’re a proven platform with demonstrated quality.
Semi-custom
Semi-custom builds are a compromise between production and fully custom builds. They offer many customizable opportunities—particularly concerning interior and exterior décor, design, appliances and finishes—and allow the owner to be closely involved in the build. Like production builds, they are part of a pre-designed line, expediting build time and reducing costs and risk.
Entirely custom builds are naturally the most expensive and time-intensive option. However, nothing is off limits, from the size and layout to amenities, interior and exterior design and technical specifications.
Whichever you envision, we know the right experts for you.

functional UFO jet boat zooms through water as a motorized flying saucer for lakes or rivers
Craftsman tran long ho builds his ufo jet boat from scratch.
If anyone has ever asked if it was possible to create a UFO-looking jet boat , craftsman Tran Long Ho has proven it to be more than possible when he produced his very own motorized flying saucer. Built from scratch, and with his own team as seen in the video, the UFO jet boat captures the design of the mysterious flying object—only now it’s right before the viewers’ eyes, so it may no longer be a mystery (except for what’s hidden in the cabin).
Motorized flying saucer with wooden parts
Mr. Tran Long Ho starts building his UFO jet boat using an earthy, sand-textured material and pours cement to harden it. In the video documenting his design process, he and the team mold it to follow the flying saucer’s shape before coating it with purple paint. The steel frame comes next, put together to hold the watercraft’s body in place.
Next, the craftsman produces hexagon cutouts from thin slabs of wood and plasters them on the frame as a form of insulation in the cabin. The first layer of coating comes next, and they all wait for it to dry before applying the motors that get the jet boat going.
Solar-panel-like plates for the hexagon designs
When the base is all covered, Mr. Tran Long Ho cuts hexagon shapes around the surface of the UFO jet boat’s top covering. As he shows in the video that documents the making of his motorized flying saucer, a series of solar-panel-like plates mask these holes, staying true to typical UFO depictions.
The engine sits in the heart of the watercraft, hidden just below the driver’s seat. This is why the Vietnamese craftsman built the lower body of the jet boat with a hollow, oval shape. First, it’s how a UFO might look, and second, it functions as the housing for the motors.
These motors may not work without switches, which come next in the making of the jet boat. For the wiring, Mr. Tran Long Ho hides them behind the fuzzy material that tops the angles and corners of the hexagon cutouts. It’s a smart move to make the interior as wire-free as possible. When it comes to cruising inside the jet boat, the pilot might need to recline as much as they can because of the limited overhead space.
That means they have to stretch their arms and reach for the steering wheel, just like the craftsman testing his watercraft on a river. That may not be an inconvenience at all, not when once they’ve revved up the engine, they can zoom through the water, speeding away as fast as a jet ski with occasional hops for a thrilling ride.
