VHF Radio (SRC)
the RYA Marine Radio Short Range Certificate (SRC) is the minimum qualification required to operate marine VHF radio equipment on a UK flagged vessel. This includes both fixed and handheld equipment with and without Digital Selective Calling (DSC).

| | | RYA POWERBOAT LEVEL 2 (PB2) This 2 day course is designed to equip you with all the basic skills and background knowledge to become a competent powerboat driver. No previous experience is needed for this course. You'll learn how to launch and recover from a road trailer, Low and high-speed manoeuvres and seamanship skills such as man over board, recovery, anchoring and coming alongside jetty/moored boat. Also qualifies you for an International Certificate of Competence (ICC). NEW Powerboat Youth Level 1 (PBY1) Minimum age is 8 and the course follows the above with the launch & recovery section only observed. Cost: £165 Cevni Test If you want to take your boat abroad through the European waterways systems, (canals, rivers, lakes) then this test is what you need. Study the book that can be purchased from the centre called 'Euro regualtions for Inland Water users' and then pass a 14 question multiple-choice test. RYA Safety Boat Course This is a 2 day course covering fleet rescue and the techniques required when rescuing small craft. Dates and availability on request. |  Powerboat Course (PB2) – Exmouth Date/Time Date(s) - Sat 14th May - Sun 15th May All Day Available Spaces: 1 Powerboat Level 2 Course The club will be running this course on 14th & 15th May from Exmouth Marina. Available for a total of 6 students with a reserve list of 2. The fee for LSC members will be £25 and includes course Log Books, Practical Course Note Books and a small donation towards fuel costs. We are running this at cost price with Instructors donating their time in order to encourage more of our members to become qualified. In particular we want to encourage members who would be prepared to help with Safety Boat duty in the future. For non members the fee would be £200. You will need a life jacket or buoyancy aid, foul weather gear with hat and gloves and a change of clothing. Bring your own food and warm drinks. Payment will be at an introductory session on Friday 6th May at LSC at 1930 . If the course is showing fully booked then contact [email protected] and he will put you on the reserve list. Please select the type and number of tickets below, and then complete the booking form. LSC members may log in to make a booking (optional)*. A course for aspiring skippers with some yachting experience and basic navigation and sailing skills. Learn to skipper a short passage with the instructor on hand to give advice and encouragement and ensure your safety. Experience being in charge, taking credit when it all goes well and being responsible when it doesn’t. Before this course, if you are not sure that your sailing is up to speed, a good way to learn is on an RYA Level 2 Dinghy sailing course . This will teach you to sail around a course and control the boat’s speed. If it is help with navigation that you need, you should take our Day Skipper shorebased course . 5-day residential course on a yacht either over two weekends or 5 days in a row for a total of 5 days and nights. Starting at 1700 on the first day and finishing around 1600 on the last. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE This course has some prerequisites; 5 days, 100 miles, 4 night hours on board a sailing yacht. And theory to a Day Skipper Theory Level, here are few questions to judge if you have the required knowledge (Click Here) . MINIMUM AGE Minimum age: 18 yrs Cost: £590 members £640 non-members (£100 deposit required) which includes Certificate on successful completion of course.
