GRACE Yacht – Incredible $140M Superyacht

GRACE yacht, formerly known as Kibo, is a 266-foot superyacht built back in 2014 by Abeking & Rassmussen . Her annual running cost is approximately US $10-14 million.

Grace yacht is currently one of the 58 motor yachts to be included in the 80-90 meter-sized yachts. She now ranks 126th in the world as one of the largest yachts ever created.

Designed by Terence Disdale , an award-winning designer responsible for creating some of the most renowned superyachts in the world.

Terence Disdale has had no formal training in yacht design or engineering, but despite this, he is still one of the most sought-after designers in the world.

Along with the GRACE yacht, he also has several yachts that he designed.

One of these is the Al Salamah, the 280 million dollar superyacht owned by once Saudi Arabian Crown Prince, Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the Pelorus superyacht, and the Tatoosh superyacht, a 303-foot superyacht owned by the American businessman, Paul Allen.

Onboard the GRACE yacht is an elevator, a beach club, a grand piano, underwater lights, and even a swimming platform.

Adding to this, she also has zero-speed stabilizers to keep guests and crew alike safe and stable when going out to the rough seas.

She also has full air-conditioning to keep guests cool in the hot summer. Speaking of guests, the GRACE yacht can comfortably accommodate lots of people at a time.

She can easily host 12 guests at a time by utilizing her six suite rooms and one VIP cabin, with a cabin configuration of 1 Master and four doubles.

Along with this, she can also hold up to 23 crew members to attend to the guest’s needs.

Specifications

She boasts an incredible 81.00 meters or 265.75 ft length, making her the 126th biggest superyacht globally. Adding to this, she also has a beam of 14.00 meters or 45.93 ft and a draught of 3.50 meters or 11.5 ft.

GRACE yacht was engineered using a steel hull with an aluminum superstructure.

She currently weighs around 2,306 tons, and powering this behemoth are twin 2,000hp Caterpillar 3516-B engines partnered with her 170,000-liter fuel tank.

The GRACE yacht can comfortably cover a distance of over 4,500 nautical miles at cruising speeds of 14 knots and a maximum speed of 16.5 knots.

Along with this, she can carry upwards of 35,000 liters of water, so docking constantly to refill water is not a problem in this superyacht.

Her exterior was designed by the same company that crafted her interior, Terence Disdale, who has already developed 40 yachts and is responsible for the interior designs of 76 vessels.

Jerko will be your private chef onboard GRACE yacht charter, and he will continue to amaze you every day. He has decided to embark on a new journey and enter the yachting industry after more than ten years of experience at his previous job as executive Chef in the luxurious hotel ,,Briig’’. He is a popular Croatian chef with a reputation for being skilled, talented, hardworking, and ambitious.

He will prepare amazing cocktails as well as the finest Croatian specialities, which will be presented in a spectacular way. Your private chef is enjoying creating and experimenting with dishes in order to make something different that will still excite your palate.

Jerko is friendly and he will be happy to share his recipes with you. Jerko is enthusiastic to produce one-of-a-kind dishes that will make your jaw drop. Your private chef can prepare anything you want, from pineapple roasted chicken to a ribeye with bacon and wine sauce.

YACHT MAIN DECK

The amazing main deck aft will be your first spot where you will enjoy amazing snacks, specially made by your chef. Here, you also have a wet bar and an alfresco dining area with comfortable sofas and stylish chairs. The dining area on the main deck aft has shade on all 3 sides, which can be lowered to protect you from the sun during the day or from humidity at night.

The main deck salon`s layout is unconventionally designed. Unlike most superyachts, who tend to put the lounge area closer to the stern and the dining area more forward, GRACE does it differently. She has both the features, the salon lounge area and dining area, parallel together, following a straight line stretching as long as the main deck interior does.

Moving forward through the sliding glass doors, you will enter the amazing indoor salon. On the starboard side, you will have a huge sofa ideal for socializing, watching football or having a movie night. On the port side of this main indoor salon, you have a large dining table that can seat up to 10 guests.

The whole space exudes a corporate style that you will enjoy. Furthermore, GRACE yacht charter has huge panoramic windows that will fill the entire place with natural light and you will have an amazing view while watching movies or eating your first meal of the day.

The good feature about this yacht is that she has a large galley from where your private chef will prepare amazing meals and also a lovely day head so you can wash your hands before meals without needing to go to your cabin. Furthermore, on the bow, you have a spacious sunbathing area ideal for tanning or reading your favourite magazine.

Yacht Charter Accommodation: The Master Suite

Moving forward, you will arrive at the master suite, beautifully designed in navy style with an ensuite bathroom, a walk-in closet and a huge TV screen. The master cabin sends out a very inviting atmosphere. There are long and wide double windows on both port and starboard sides of the cabin, with a flat-screen TV in front of the king-size berth. The headspace above the king-size berth is intricately designed, so the whole ceiling creates a dynamic flow of energy in GRACES`s master cabin

There is also a working table from where you will be able to reply to all your emails and the Wi-Fi connection is super fast on every inch of the spectacular GRACE yacht charter. Also, the master suite has amazing windows and you will have a new view every time you enter the suite. What I really like about this suite is the huge mirror behind the bed which gives you the impression of a much larger space.

YACHT UPPER DECK

On the upper aft deck, you have a spacious sunbathing area with full-beam sunbeds that can also be used for practising yoga or as an open-air gym area. Moving forward, you will find a lovely dining table with sofas and a wet bar, with 2 stool chairs, from where your private chef or hostess will be able to prepare amazing snacks and cocktails. Moreover, you can cool your favourite beverage here instead of going down on the main deck.

There is also a beautifully designed inside sky lounge. GRACE yacht charter features a TV/media room located close to the captain’s command bridge. While your kids are watching cartoons on the main deck, you can enjoy romantic Netflix movies on the upper deck sky lounge. This whole area is ideal for socializing and having fun with both family and friends.

YACHT LOWER DECK

GRACE`S lower deck consists of two double and two twin cabins, each one a mirror image of the other. This means that there are two identical twin cabins and two identical double cabins. These comfortable and spacious living accommodations are all decorated using a light and bright colour palette. This includes a light grey wool carpet, light matte wood surfaces for the walls and beige leather panels for the ceilings.

A small corner-placed sofa dilutes the massive amount of room in the double cabins, creating a more inviting vibe. Every cabin has its own ensuite, which is well-appointed and capable of handling longer charter voyages. All of the space of the lower deck cabin is completely oversized, meaning that there is excess walk-around room in the cabins, around the berths and particularly in the ensuites; headroom is ample too.

Yacht Charter Accommodation: Two double Staterooms

The amazing feature about VIP staterooms are huge king-size beds in the centre of the stateroom, surrounded by two nightstands. In other staterooms of yachts of this size, it is almost impossible to have the king-sized beds in VIP staterooms and that is one more reason why GRACE yacht charter is an amazing vessel to spend your holiday on.

Furthermore, from your bed, you can watch your favourite movie or football match on the great TV. This stateroom also has a nice sofa where you can relax and watch the beautiful Croatian Adriatic coast through the large window above the bed. Captain Robert has little more than eight years of experience in the marine industry on motor yachts as a captain and a deckhand/engineer. He is an ambitious person, very dedicated and professional, adapts and handles quickly new situations and fit in the team efficiently. Robert is very communicative, easy going and has always been a great team player. He works closely with his guests to ensure that all of their needs and wants are met.

Petar is born in one of the most beautiful Croatian cities, Split. Since being a kid, he felt a passion for cooking and knew he will become a chef in the future. For the last seven years, that is his calling and he is enjoying his profession. As a kid, he spent a lot of time on the island of Hvar, and fall in love with the sea and seafood. His specialty is the Mediterranean cuisine. Later on, he started to learn about several major regions, including Asian cuisine that he outstandingly combines with the Mediterranean one. This is his first season on MY GRACE and during your stay on MY GRACE you will enjoy in his magnificent food.

Deckhand Petar was born in Split, Croatia and he spent his childhood sailing the Adriatic Sea. Upon completing his education in Split, he started working on motor yachts in 2015. He has worked on M/Y Adriatic Jazz (28 m) as a deckhand and M/V Cargo carrier „Solin“ (198 m) as an engine cadet. He is very reliable when doing his duties on board and always with a smile. He is committed to a life at sea and is a hard-working and fun sailor to be around.

Born and raised in Croatia, in Petrinja, small town southeast of Zagreb. Kristina has been working in hospitality whole of her life, she worked and was surrounded with people which suits her easy going, positive and open-minded character. Kristina has decided to embark on new adventure and join the yachting industry, and it was the best decision she made. Working on the yacht is not just a job, to her is represents a true and great pleasure, and having happy and satisfied guests is Kristina's greatest reward. She is fluent in English.

Joseph Stiles

Joseph and Britta grew up a world apart but ended up finding each other and true love in the beautiful Virgin Islands. He grew up on a small family farm in the Pacific Northwest and she grew up with her toes in the sand on the white sandy beaches of Florida. Before moving to the Caribbean, Joseph received degrees the Culinary Arts and Patisserie and Baking from Western Culinary Institute in Portland Oregon. In 2009, he packed his bags for the islands where he immediately bought and resided on his new boat in the Virgin Islands. Britta came to St Croix as a PADI dive instructor in 2005. She worked in local dive shops and in the hospitality industry, while taking advantage of the best scuba diving in the Caribbean. She honed in her skills as being one of the premiere dive guides and instructors while living in St Croix. While the couple lived in St John Britta spent time aboard a 36' Pearson- "Kiote" offering day sailing excursions the shallow reefs that fringe the East end of the island. Her love of all things underwater is apparent by her enthusiasm to share her discoveries of animal and plant life while on your water adventures! Whether you're a beginner snorkeler or advanced scuba diver, her knowledge and expertise always delivers an amazing custom designed experience for everyone. Before embarking on the New Luxury Catamaran "Grace", Joseph and Britta were on the 50ft Catamaran "Dianna Rose" for 3 years and worked in tandem, perfecting a concierge experience with world class cuisine and custom tailored scuba and snorkel adventures for all levels. Proud to partner with the Virgin Island community, Joseph and Britta take a lot of pride in buying local. These key relationships with farmers and fisherman has elevated their status as having the freshest ingredients on board at all times and has been a key to their success. S/Y Grace is a Lagoon 620 Essence and she is based in Preveza Marina, right in the heart of the Ionian Sea. She accommodates 8 guests in 4 large ensuite cabins. One master cabin with direct access to aft deck, one VIP cabin with direct access to aft deck and two queen bed quest cabins all with private bathrooms. She has a spacious cockpit for dining al-fresco and fly bridge for 360 degree views and perfect area for cocktail hour. She is equipped with a hydraulic platform - ideal for direct access to the sea. Her saloon has wide panoramic windows - the galley is located in the upper level where the chef prepares wonderful dishes for her guests. Grace is equipped to the highest standards including all the luxuries: Air-con, watermaker, generator, Inverter, Quiet Flush Toilets and a lot more. Grace's fantastic design allows for maximum comfort and space onboard Crew accommodation is located in a separate area on the boat.

Presented by DMA Yachting, the majestic charter yacht GRACE is a 62 ft sailing catamaran. GRACE spends the summer season in Greece. She was completed by the renowned boatbuilder Lagoon in 2020. The ingenious yacht layout features 4 large cabins and comfortably accommodates up to 8 guests.

GRACE is classified primarily as a sailing catamaran. The central space of the yacht is the main saloon, which connects to the aft deck. The aft deck features a variety of seating areas and that's where the guests spend most of their time. The modern cabins are connected by stairs to the main saloon - roomy, comfortable and pleasant. The cabins offer designer mattrace beds and feature ensuite bathrooms. Multiple portholes supply a sunny feeling, with the option for darkness and privacy.

The sailboat features 2 X 150 HP Volvo 1 generator Kohler 1 Generator Fischer panda watermaker engines and a generator.

Captain: Bruce Rocherieux Bruce Rocherieux, the 38-year-old captain of S/Y Grace, is a reliable, meticulous, and professional sailor dedicated to a career in the yachting industry. With more than ten years of experience in the yachting industry, Bruce comes with a rich background in yacht racing, as well as offshore cruising. He began his journey in 2000 with dinghy racing and has since worked as a scientific expedition skipper in 2017, serving as charter skipper, first mate, second captain, and engineer on various sailing and motor vessels across Australia, the Mediterranean, and the Red Sea. Notably, he has completed transatlantic crossings and many deliveries all over the world. He has his RYA Yachtmaster and has completed all the safety training necessary to work on yachts. Bruce excels in maintenance and troubleshooting of all onboard systems, leads safety and crew management successfully, and handles engineering duties and cruise planning. He holds a bachelor's degree in Business Management for Sustainable Tourism and is fluent in English and French, with good proficiency in Spanish. He began his journey in 2000 with dinghy racing and has since worked as a scientific expedition skipper in 2017, serving as charter skipper, first mate, second captain, and engineer on various sailing and motor vessels across Australia, the Mediterranean, and the Red Sea. Notably, he has completed transatlantic crossings and many deliveries all over the world. He has his RYA Yachtmaster and has completed all the safety training necessary to work on yachts. Bruce excels in maintenance and troubleshooting of all onboard systems, leads safety and crew management successfully, and handles engineering duties and cruise planning. He holds a bachelor's degree in Business Management for Sustainable Tourism and is fluent in English and French, with good proficiency in Spanish. Bruce possesses excellent tender driving skills, comprehensive mechanical and electrical knowledge, and is adept in watersports like windsurfing, surfing, foiling, and wakeboarding, holding a PADI Open Water certification. Originally heralding from the Lake district in the UK, he has called Corfu his home in more recent years. As a permanent resident of the islands Hector is a well respected member of the local sailing community and is a known face in many of the ports you’re likely to visit.<br /> Hector first came to work in the Ionian in 2014. Aged just 20 at the time he assumed the role of a flotilla skipper. In this position he took responsibility for a small fleet of guest operated yachts carrying up to 40 guests during any given week. Effectively dictating most aspects of the guest experience along the way.<br /> Having sailed the region for a good many years Hector's knowledge of the Ionian is extensive. His guests benefit from insight gained during years of charter in the region. Just tell Hector what type of experience you’re looking for and he can put together an itinerary specifically catering to your group's requirements. As time passed Hector went from strength to strength as a skipper. Proving himself an excellent organizer, he became a regional manager for a charter operator in the Ionian a few years later. It speaks to his maturity that despite being younger than many of those he managed, he was the one trusted with the position. Hector earned a reputation as a level-headed and highly reliable individual and became a real lynch pin in day to day operations.<br /> In more recent years, (since the world was introduced to a certain pandemic,) Hector has worked as a freelancer in the Ionian. Despite the difficulties placed on the tourism sector in the past two years Hector has been kept busy by virtue of his good reputation. We look forward to welcoming Hector on-board Grace for Summer 2022. We are certain that he will provide her guests with the best and most amazing sailing experience!<br /> <br /> Stewardess: Lucy Jellett <br /> Lucy is a young energetic individual born and raised in Sussex in the South East of the UK. Lucy has always had an interest in sport & is passionate about football in particular. Even going so far as to study sport for two years at college. Lucy has always been on the look out for new and exciting opportunities. She has a passion for travel that manifested in two years working in hotels and chalets in the French Alps. She worked e.g. in the winter as a chalet host/ chef. A role in which she would strive to look after up to 26 guests during any one week. Its these two years spent overseas that left Lucy keen for more seasonal work. Following up on this idea she got her STCWs last year with an aim to finding a stewardess role. <br /> Lucy’s work ethic, professionalism and likeable persona impresses her guests and crews alike. With an extensive background in hospitality and in customer facing roles, Lucy is perfectly suited to the deck/ stew role on Grace. She is excellent with children of all ages, having worked in several childcare capacities in the past and is ready to welcome her guests of any ages and provide them with the best sailing experience ever!<br /> <br /> Chef: Michaela Williams<br /> Although Michaela may be new to working on yachts she is certainly no stranger to working in the food industry! Having worked in various kitchen settings from the age of 15. Between cafe’s, resturants, events catering, sports grounds and even a stint working on boats on the London thames! Michaela’s workplaces have been varied and she has a lot of experience on which to draw. While Michaela calls London home she has a particular passion for travel and has spent long stints travelling around Asia and Australia in past years. We have it on good authority that she picked up a love for cooking asian cuisine while travelling. Michaela’s reppetoire is varied and her ability to cater to a wide range of tastes undoubted. She’s passionate about using good quality fresh local ingredients and making the most of their flavour profiles to provide top quality food. Michaela is looking forward to providing some amazing dishes in keeping with the local mediterranean setting this summer. Keen to learn the ropes and enthusiastic about the summer ahead we’re sure she’ll prove an excellent addition to the team. Donetsk and Luhansk: What you should know about the ‘republics’

Who has followed Russia in recognising the controversial, Moscow-backed statelets in Ukraine? And what is life like there?

Kyiv, Ukraine – Moscow-backed separatists have controlled the southeastern Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, known collectively as Donbas, for almost eight years.

But Russian President Vladimir Putin recognised them only on Monday, paving the way for the official presence of Russian troops in the rebel-controlled areas that occupy about a third of Donetsk and Luhansk.

So far, only Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua and Syria have joined Putin in recognising Donetsk and Luhansk – along with breakaway Georgian provinces of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. They all did so also on Monday.

The central question is whether Russia would recognise them in their current borders. Should it decide to help the rebels “restore” their statelets to the original borders, it may spell a large-scale war between Moscow and Kyiv.

At the moment, Russia will recognise “the borders, where the leadership of the DNR and the LNR are executing their authority,” Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko told the Interfax News Agency on Tuesday.

But the foreign ministry also said on Tuesday that the issue of the borders is yet to be resolved.

While Ukraine and the West try to avoid war, other questions loom.

What are the roots of the region’s separatism? What has kept these areas alive since 2014? And what is their future?

Neo-Stalinism

A 13.5 metre-tall statue of Soviet founder Vladimir Lenin still dominates the main square in Donetsk, the capital of the eponymous breakaway region in southeastern Ukraine.

And the constitution adopted by Lenin’s successor, Josef Stalin, has been restored by the Moscow-backed separatist leaders of Donetsk and neighbouring Luhansk after they broke away from the central government in 2014.

This constitution prescribes the death penalty for a number of crimes, making the separatist “People’s Republics” – and authoritarian Belarus nearby – Europe’s only homes to capital punishment.

After almost eight years of existence, the “republics” are understood to have evolved into totalitarian, North Korea-like statelets.

It is near impossible for foreigners to enter the areas. Ukrainians can only visit if they have relatives in Donetsk and Luhansk, and would have to cross into Russia first, which takes about 30 hours and costs $100 – a journey that also involves bribing officials at times. Residents need a Soviet-era residency registration.

In the statelets, secret police and “loyal” residents monitor every word, phone call and text message.

Dissidents or businessmen who refuse to “donate” their assets to the “needs of the People’s Republic” have been thrown in “cellars”, or dozens of makeshift concentration camps, without trial.

“It looks like the 1930s in the Soviet Union, a classic gulag,” Stanislav Aseyev, a publicist who was kidnapped in 2017 in Donetsk and was sentenced by a separatist “court” to 15 years in jail for “espionage”, told Al Jazeera.

For almost two years, he was incarcerated and tortured in these “cellars” until separatists swapped him and dozens of other prisoners in 2017.

Thousands of others were tortured and abused in the “cellars”, according to rights groups and witnesses. The grave human rights abuses make Donetsk and Luhansk far worse than today’s Russia, an international human rights advocate said.

“The cellars where prisoners are held in Donetsk, and the widespread use of torture, are among the most obvious human rights issues,” said Ivar Dale, a senior policy adviser with the Norwegian Helsinki Committee, a human rights watchdog group.

But there are much wider problems such as civil and political rights, he said.

“You could say that the political repression in Russia is doubly felt in Donetsk and Luhansk and other areas effectively under control of the Putin regime,” Dale told Al Jazeera.

Rust-belt ruins

These tendencies have gone hand in hand with economic degradation.

The living standards are “many times, if not dozens of times worse than in pre-war 2013”, said Aseyev, 32, who now lives in Kyiv and has published a novel about the events in Donetsk.

This regress looks even more staggering considering Donetsk’s and Luhansk’s not-so-ancient history. The cities were founded by two Brits.

Englishman Charles Gascoigne built a metal factory in what is now Luhansk in 1795, shortly after czarist Russia annexed Crimea and eastern Ukraine from the Crimean Khanate, a mostly-Muslim vassal of Ottoman Turkey.

Decades later, in 1869, Welshman John Hughes started a steel plant and a coal mine in what is now Donetsk, and the city was named after him – Hughesovka or Yuzovka – until the Soviet era.

The birth and rapid growth of both cities followed the czarist government’s drive to develop the immense coal and iron ore deposits of what is now eastern Ukraine.

Communist Moscow further spurred the region’s development, and tens of thousands of ethnic Russians settled there, making urban areas almost exclusively Russian-speaking.

Coal and mines grew deeper next to hillocks made of spent ore, and foundries, chemical and power plants dotted the region.

The political heyday of Donetsk began in 2010, when its native Viktor Yanukovych became Ukraine’s president – and brought cohorts of his cronies to Kyiv.

They tried to wrestle control of Ukraine’s politics and economy – but triggered months-long protests that began in November 2013 and ended in February 2014, when the Ukrainian parliament voted to remove Yanukovych from office.

The protests are known in Ukraine as the Revolution of Dignity – but Russian President Vladimir Putin still calls them a “coup”.

‘Russian spring’

In the czarist era, the region was known as Novorossiya – or New Russia – and the Kremlin would use the name in 2014 as it proclaimed the “Russian Spring” or “liberation” of Russian-speaking regions in eastern and southern Ukraine.

But pro-Russian rallies and uprisings in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, and Odesa, its largest seaport on the Black Sea, failed.

However, thousands of Russian volunteers flocked to Donetsk and Luhansk to aid separatist militias – while many locals were ecstatic about the “Russian Spring”.

“Putin will come and restore order here,” one of their supporters, a rotund minibus driver named Valerii, told this reporter in April 2014 in Donetsk.

But four months later, after the separatists tried to confiscate his minibus, he locked his apartment, loaded the bus with his most valuable belongings, and left for Kyiv.

‘Price tag’

Even though Ukraine barred any economic ties to the separatist regions, they still exist – and even involve top politicians.

Pro-Western President Petro Poroshenko, who came to power after the Revolution of Dignity, admitted that he channeled government funds worth tens of millions of dollars in exchange for Donetsk coal in the winter of 2014-2015 because otherwise “half of Ukraine could have frozen”.

But Russia still had to bankroll the separatist provinces spending billions of dollars a year.

So, what are Moscow’s economic goals in Donbas?

“Very simple – to lower the price tag of maintaining the occupied territories,” Aleksey Kusch, a Kyiv-based analyst, told Al Jazeera.

To achieve that, Russia may want to remove the middlemen who pocketed the lion’s share of profits from the export of coal and steel and the delivery of humanitarian aid that was immediately resold on the black market.

“They kept up to 70 percent of the profits,” Kushch said.
