Motor Yacht

Luxury motor yacht Axioma is a 72m steel superyacht to be built by Dunya Yachts, based in Turkey. This impressive yacht was designed by Diana Scott from the dynamic Monaco based design studio, Sterling Scott. The mega yacht’s interior design is by Alberto Pinto.

Launched in 2013 this 72m mega yacht will accommodate up to 16 guests in complete luxury. Motor yacht Axioma is designed to the highest standards, offering mechanical efficiency and exceptional style and comfort. Axioma boasts huge exterior spaces and entertainment areas across her six decks. One of the main features has to be the large wet-edge 'infinity' pool located at the aft on the main deck. Below the pool, is large space to host the Axioma's main tenders. Axioma’s expansive decks play host to a range of outdoor entertainment areas. The aft upper deck draws guests to dine al-fresco style around a large round table, whilst the sundeck features a large Jacuzzi that is surrounded by sun beds.

Inside, Axioma’s high-volume interior allows incredible, spacious guest areas, including a huge main saloon, which leads out to the yacht’s beach club and infinity pool. Axioma’s upper deck is entirely dedicated to her owners, housing the master suite, walk-in dressing room and a cinema/lounge. On the bridge deck, there is a helipad and a third saloon with glazed roof ceiling that creates a conservatory. Axioma’s interior has been created using Alberto Pinto’s signature colourful styling. The mega yacht features a palette where reds, emeralds, blues, greens and earth tones combine in different spaces to create an interesting effect. Alberto Pinto’s aim is to create an atmosphere that resembles a beach house, with simple materials and sophisticated details. Guest rooms feature natural woven straw and each cabin has an association with a different colour chosen for its relation to the marine environment, such as blue, green, yellow, or a coral colour. The VIP suite has sand blasted glass and jade green dyed wood whilst blue marble and blue dyed wood adorns in the master cabin. Braided brown leather features throughout the halls and the corridors, and different essences of wood feature in the living area and the bridge deck. Fabrics throughout the yacht are created from large knitted canvases in the style of cotton sweaters, mixed with cotton or linen canvases, whilst leather finishes are stitched in the style of saddles and bags. Finally various embroideries complete the décor for the cushions of the couches. For the exterior, the crew areas and the Capitan’s cabin, the choice leaned towards “navy” colours in blue, white and red, always in association with the bleached oak or teak wood. The exterior furniture in teak and straw is completed by a few pieces of red lacquered teak. Powered by twin CAT engines, motor yacht Red Square will reach a top speed of 18 knots, with a cruising speed of around 16 knots.

AXIOMA was the first superyacht built by the Turkey-based shipyard in 2013 and features lavish elegance at its finest.

The interior was designed by the late designer Alberto Pinto in a beach style that makes the yacht perfect for a comfortable and luxurious stay on the water.

The interior of the AXIOMA yacht was designed by the renowned luxury designer Alberto Pinto , with sleek lines and tasteful design features.

The entire yacht is styled in teal, cream, and teak.

The yacht’s interior is meant to depict beach-style elegance with a bright and summery feel, which it does with its four main outdoor areas.

There are accommodations for 12 guests in a master suite and five double cabins.

The AXIOMA yacht accommodates 20 crew members.

The guest suites are all on the main deck and benefit from the sunlight pouring in from large windows.

The many luxury features of the yacht include an infinity pool, an intimate outdoor dining area, a 3D cinema, steam room, sauna, and gym on the bridge deck, as well as a helipad deck jacuzzi.

There are many water toys and tenders in the garage, like jet skis, inflatable platforms, an aqua park, scuba equipment, and more.

The sun deck features daybeds and lounge seating, a bar, and a BBQ for enjoying the sunset outside.

The interior was designed for family and friends to spend time together in the sun, enjoying the many indoor-outdoor spaces available on the yacht.

The yacht was also designed to be wheelchair-friendly.

The yacht was delivered from the Dunya Yachts Turkey-based shipyard in 2013, and she was Dunya’s first superyacht built.

Captain interview: M/Y 'Axioma'

We speak to captain mark giblin and captain tom filby about rotation and how to make it work successfully….

The 72m Axioma is renowned for its popularity on the charter market and its carefully considered guest area layout that is well suited to charters, including standout interior features such as a spectacular double-height atrium with open mezzanine in the main saloon and an enticing infinity pool and beach club area. The yacht is also well-known for its crew, who offer a charter experience that keeps clients coming back every year. This can be attributed to good team work on board, an effective rotational programme for the senior crew, and Captain Mark Giblin and Captain Tom Filby at the helm. 

“As good-looking as the yacht is, it is still inanimate until you add the personalities of the crew and the on-board offerings,” says Captain Giblin, reflecting on what makes Axioma so popular on the charter scene. “As charter captains, our job is to spend time with the guests and be the glue between the catering side and the entertaining side. Of course, we are involved in the day-to-day running of the ship, but we are also always looking at how to enhance the on-board experience for guests.”

The captains, first officers, chief engineers and ETOs all have rotation on board Axioma , with the thought process being, like many busy superyachts, that senior crew working three months solid followed by three months off are going to be much more efficient and refreshed than those on board for a full season of back-to-back trips.

In terms of the practicalities of making rotation work for its senior crew, Axioma has a few key processes in place. Firstly, the captains will work together to have the following six months carefully mapped out – with natural junctures in charter trips, deliveries or maintenance periods dictating the changeover dates roughly every three months. They will also try and stagger the changeovers so that, for example, if the chief officer is going off on rotation, it will be three weeks after the captain, to ensure that there is enough overlap, which keeps the boat running smoothly.

With a boat like Axioma , a consistently high standard is expected by its guests. So, how is this achieved with two captains? “How we sell the Axioma experience is that, whichever captain is on board, you will get the same guest experience, at the same high standard,” explains Captain Giblin, who has been on board for over four years. “We try to run the programme as seamlessly as two individuals can run it – it would be impossible if one captain were to do it one way and the other another way. That’s why, when we were recruiting Tom, we were very careful to recruit someone with a similar personality and a similar outlook as me.”

“And I think we are on the same page with that,” adds Captain Filby. “I see myself as slotting directly in with Mark: not trying to rock the boat or change anything, but to keep up the operation of the boat and to fill Mark’s shoes whenever he goes away. Axioma is already set up and already a very successful charter yacht, so there is nothing really for me to change in terms of the format except to carry it on.”

Both captains are also consistent in their attitude towards crew management. “We expect everyone to be a team player: nobody is bigger than the boat,” concludes Captain Giblin. “We are a very busy boat, and we make it clear during the interview stage that crew have to work very hard on board. In return, we offer a decent package with training incentives and a very well-respected yacht to add to their CV.”

She is one of the world’s largest yachts .    The 72-meter motor yacht AXIOMA offers enormous volume, in specific, six decks and over 30,000 square meters of space.  A private outdoor cinema and lounge area leads out to a dining terrace.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Important to note is the amazing master suite on the upper deck of AXIOMA.  The master suite takes up the entire forward section of the deck.   Further, this vessel is one of the few in charter to offer a full beam VIP guest cabin.  This VIP suite is located on the main deck. In addition, two, equal-sized double cabins and two twin cabins exist here, also.

Primary amenities include a bridge deck that doubles as a helipad.  A third saloon with a glazed roof serves as a conservatory.  The main deck features a beach club with an infinity swimming pool.  Four sets of double-sized sofas exist on the beach club.  The upper and main decks have a spectacular open gallery mezzanine.

The lower deck space offers a large wellness and beauty spa, as well as a gymnasium. Specifically, when the yacht’s tenders are removed, two x 15-meter teak balconies fold down and out. They open over the sea. This results in nearly doubling the size of the available space.

The yacht’s Alberto Pinto interior design is typical of his flamboyant colorful styling. He recreated the lifestyle appeal of coastal Italy and France.  A Capri yacht charter or Cote d’Azure yacht charter experience on this vessel blends.  In specific, the onshore lifestyle of these regions. One of the unique features of the boat is the double-deck gallery that is created by combing two decks so guests can have easy access to the bar and lounge areas.
