• Fountaine Pajot Introduces New Sustainable, Affordable 41-Foot Cruising Cat

Cannes, France – On Monday, Fontaine Pajot, one of the world leading catamaran builders, made several announcements about the company at the Cannnes Boat Show with the highlight being that the builder was launching an all-new 41. What’s interesting about the new 41, in particular, is that the new cruising cat in the fruit of a three-year program called Odysea, that is transforming the company’s corporate and build philosophy.

FP is a pioneer in the cruising cat market and they now have more than 4,000 boats sailing all over the world. The company employs 1,300 craftsmen and has an annual turnover of 300 million Euros. They are a player and they are a close competitor to their compatriot cat builders Lagoon & Excess, brands of Groupe Beneteau.

FP is also a pioneer in developing sustainable technologies and has more than 30 cats out cruising with either hybrid electric, all-electric or hydrogen propulsions system.  The company’s intention is to build boats that put cruisers into a close relationship with the ocean and coastal areas they love and to do so in boats that are as eco-friendly and sustainable as possible. The corporate goal, they report, is to reduce the carbon footprint of new boats by 47% by 2030.  Odysea is the program to get them there.

Key elements in the new 41’s cruising and sailing experience are:

Beamier, more spacious hulls and saloon for a more comfortable living experience.

Large cockpit with ample lounges and a lower aft platform for swimming and dinghy storage

A forward lounging area with an optional awning for quiet time

A larger sail plan and deeper fixed keels to enhance sailing performance

Large windows and hull glazing for great views, natural light and an intimacy with nature

Key elements in the 41’s sustainability experience are:

Huge solar arrays on the cabin top and in the bows where trampolines are normal

The solar panels feed a huge battery bank that will run all onboard functions, including air conditions for more than 12 hours

Optional hybrid diesel electric propulsion

Optional all-electric or all hydrogen propulsion

The new FP 41 is scheduled for launch in April 2025 and has a base price of 400,000 Euros, which is a significant sum but a very good value in the 40-foot segment of the cruising cat market.

De la volonté de toujours être pionnier dans son domaine, le Groupe Fountaine Pajot commence à réfléchir à la transition énergétique de l’industrie de la croisière dès 2011 avec le concept d’Eco cruising. Le but, intégrer un maximum de sources d’énergies renouvelables à bord des bateaux de croisière , notamment à travers un système d’hydro-génération. Depuis, avec la construction et mise sur le marché du premier catamaran de croisière électrique hybride , l’Aura 51 SMART Electric, ainsi que la conception et construction du premier catamaran de croisière à hydrogène au monde , le prototype Samana 59 Smart Electric REXH2, le Groupe Fountaine Pajot s’inscrit comme un leader de l’industrie de la plaisance verte.

Smart Electric, un système adaptable

Solution viable et ancrée dans la production en série de l’Aura 51, le système Smart Electric, conçu par Fountaine Pajot, a pour vocation d’être implanté dans tous les bateaux de sa gamme de catamarans à voile . D’ici 2025, 50% des catamarans Fountaine Pajot seront complétement électriques et 100% seront équipés de panneaux solaires . D’ici 2030, le groupe ambitionne de rendre 100% de sa flotte électrique et de retirer les moteurs diesel.

Des bateaux pour un plus bel avenir

Samana 59 Smart Electric REXH2 – Le premier catamaran à hydrogène au monde

Le Samana 59 Smart Electric RexH2 dispose d’une architecture énergétique vertueuse composée d’un REXH2 pouvant fournir jusqu’à 70 kw de puissance en continu, d’une batterie composée de cellule LiFePO4-EVEPOWER (Lithium-Fer Phosphate) de 63kwh et de 42 m2 de panneaux solaires pouvant fournir jusqu’à 6000 Wc. Cette mixité énergétique permet de tirer profit de toutes les énergies renouvelables à bord du catamaran (solaire, éolien, hydrogène). Au port, l’équipage pourra faire le plein d’hydrogène et recharger ses batteries si besoin. La gestion de l’ensemble des technologies est assurée par la solution Smart Cruising, un Power Management System automatisé qui assure un pilotage simple et intuitif de cette haute technologie.

Aura 51 Smart Electric

Pionnier du système Smart Electric, le catamaran Aura 51 montre le cap à suivre pour l’intégration du système à toute la gamme Fountaine Pajot dans le futur proche. Le bureau d’études Fountaine Pajot, en collaboration avec le cabinet d’architectes Olivier Racoupeau Design, a imaginé l’Aura 51 Smart Electric afin d’accueillir une large surface de panneaux solaires, sans impacter son apparence. Son grand et convivial Flybridge, est habillé de 15,55 m2 de panneaux solaires totalement intégrés dans la ligne , capables d’accueillir 2000 Wc d’énergie qui alimentent deux parcs batteries allant jusqu’à 32 kwh chacun. Une option supplémentaire permet de produire 1,5 kw d’énergie grâce à un système d’ hydrogénération en utilisant la rotation inverse des hélices de propulsion lors de la navigation sous voile.

Le Projet « Licorne » Dufour

Premier voilier monocoque en composite recyclé et recyclable , ce prototype Dufour a pour ambition de prouver l’efficacité des nouveaux matériaux de construction à faible impact. L’objectif est multiple :

• Faire naître des réflexions autour du cycle de vie des bateaux ainsi que des nouveaux modes d’utilisation
• Encourager la revalorisation des matériaux en fin de vie du bateau
• Imaginer le monocoque de plaisance de demain, tant sur le Design intérieur qu’extérieur, afin de répondre aux attentes et modes de vie de demain .

L’objectif final est de déconstruire à 100% ce voilier écoresponsable pour tester l’ensemble du cycle de vie .

Fountaine Pajot Unveils Spacious New 41 Sailing Catamaran

Fountaine Pajot has announced its latest model, the elegant  NEW 41 , representing the perfect blend of elegance, performance and habitability.

Available with an internal combustion or electric drivetrain, this sleek sailing catamaran has been designed to offer outstanding autonomy for extended cruising.

Delivering volume and living space that outshines other catamarans in her class, the NEW 41 provides impressive handling and performance on long passages while remaining fun and easy to handle closer to shore.

The deck layout incorporates the popular double helmstation with a pod housing all instruments for the skipper’s convenience. Positioned at mid-height, this helm station offers an uninterrupted view of the water and the sails while allowing the skipper to easily maintain contact with those in the cockpit and on the new sundeck.

Life onboard is a delight with an array of relaxation areas, including sun loungers on the bimini and forward of the coach roof, as well as a decadent lounge integrated into the port transom.

This 12-metre sailing catamaran represents the very essence of cruising, with absolute safety, comfort and liveability.

On board, every space has been thought out and optimised to offer optimal comfort, both under way and at anchor. The three-window saloon opens completely onto the aft cockpit, and a large opening panel acts as a serving hatch between the galley and the forward saloon.

The New 41 is available in a “Maestro” Owner’s version, where the port hull is transformed to an exclusive owner’s suite. The Quator version comprises four cabins and up to four bathrooms. Each cabin enjoys expansive windows, ample natural light and generously wide beds, courtesy of the hull chines.

Fountaine Pajot Announces New Code 07 Cruising Powercat Series in Cannes

One Monday, September 9, at the Cannes Boat Show in the South of France, French catamaran builder Fountaine Pajot announced that they will expand their partnership with French power-boat builder Couach to create an entirely new line of cruising power cats to be called the Code 07 series.

Fountaine Pajot has become one of the largest catamaran builders in the world with over 4,000 cats launched and now employing over 1,000 skilled craftsmen in their ever expanding French facilities.

Couach began building boats in 1897 in France, developed some of the first marine engines and has since developed a worldwide reputation for building luxury motoryachts and sporty, speedy working and patrol craft.

The first new Code 07 is s stylish new 53-foot cruising cat with a hard top, huge glazings in the hulls, large saloon windows and spacious lounging spaces inside and out. Note the aft angle of the salon forward windows for a modern, business-like detail and the long hard top over the cockpit that provides shelter below and a base for the raised lounge on the flying bridge.

The emphasis in the new cruising cat, designed by the firm Barret Racoupeau, is to create living spaces that link those onboard intimately with the ocean and the coastal environments around them in a harmonious way. A wide open transom beach house is an attractive option.

The design team at Fountaine Pajot also set out to create a boat that an owner, his/her spouse, family and friends will find to be spacious, elegant and finished in thoroughly modern European style. The huge master suite in the line’s Maestro version will feel like the bedroom of a luxury waterfront condo.

The new Code 07 will have a length of 53 feet, a beam of 26 feet and will be driven by two 380-horsepower (279kW in metric terms) that will give it both a generous turn of speed when running at high revs and a remarkably efficient hull-drive system combination when running in longer-range efficiency mode.

Fountaine Pajot already build cruising power cats including the MY4, MY5 and MY 6 plus the luxurious Powercat 67 and the soon-to-be-launched Powercat 80.

Fountaine Pajot has had a decades-long partnership with Couche, a French boat building firm, and together they have undertaken and built many one off and limited series catamarans for private and commercial use.

The new Code 07 series, starting out with the 55-footer, will gradually replace the MY series as new Code 07 models are developed over the next two years.

At the same press event in Cannes, Fountaine Pajot also announced the soon-to-be launched Powercat 80 that will debut early next year. Stay tuned for more on that design.

A l'occasion du Cannes Yachting Festival et de la conférence de Presse internationale du Groupe, qui se tiendra lundi 9 septembre, FOUNTAINE PAJOT annonce une année 2023/2024 exceptionnelle et une vison engagée de l'avenir.

UNE ANNÉE DE TOUS LES RECORDS

1 - Le Groupe Fountaine Pajot enregistre pour l'année 2023/2024 un volume d'affaires supérieur à 300 M€ et boucle le plan ODYSSEA 2024 avec des objectifs atteints au-delà de ses attentes.

2 - Les trois marques ont maintenu leur position influente sur la scène internationale avec :

• Un 3 ème Thira 80 livré au mois d'août et près de 500 ème Isla 40 pour Fountaine Pajot Sailing Catamarans,
• Le succès du Dufour 41 doublement primé (British Yachting Awards et US Sail Best Boat) pour le chantier qui célèbre son 60 ème anniversaire,
• ET la montée en cadence et en maturité industrielle de la marque moteur Fountaine Pajot Motor Yachts, sur le site industriel de Gujan-Mestras pour assurer la livraison du doublement des ventes et répondre aux exigences de qualité de ce projet ambitieux Fountaine Pajot Motor Yachts/Couach.

3 - Une nouvelle expansion à l'international Déjà leader sur de nombreux marchés, le Groupe a, grâce à la reprise de la gestion de l'activité américaine, consolidé sa position sur ce marché clé, en lui permettant également de se rapprocher de ses clients. Fort de ce succès, le Groupe poursuit l'expansion de sa distribution sur d'autres zones.

4 - La santé financière du Groupe et l'amélioration de ses marges lui donnent ainsi les ressources pour poursuivre ses investissements tant sur sa capacité industrielle que sur le développement produits, avec pour objectif de stimuler la demande sur un marché qui se normalise.

UNE PRESENCE REMARQUABLE À CANNES

Les trois marques Fountaine Pajot Sailing Catamarans, Fountaine Pajot Motor Yachts et Dufour affirment leur leadership au YACHTING CANNES FESTIVAL et exposent sur plus de 1 000 m 2 de stand et de linéaires, la quasi-totalité de leur 3 gammes soient 13 bateaux, dont :

• Le navire amiral de la marque voile le Thira 80 sur le stand Fountaine Pajot Sailing Catamarans Port Canto,
• Le Power 67 sur le stand Fountaine Pajot Motor Yachts bassin du Vieux Port,
• Et le tout nouveau modèle Dufour 44 nominé au European Yacht of the Year EYOTY et aux awards américains Best Sail Top 10 et Cruising World Best Boat of the Year, sur le stand Dufour à Port Canto également.

CAPACITÉ INDUSTRIELLE

Le Groupe a entamé de nouveaux travaux sur ses deux sites industriels historiques Fountaine Pajot et Dufour, afin d'accroitre et améliorer son outil industriel et de développer ses stratégies produits ; Soient + 15 000 m 2 sur 2024/2025.

ANNONCE DE TROIS NOUVEAUTÉS

Dans un contexte de marché attentiste, et pour répondre aux nouvelles attentes des Propriétaires, Fountaine Pajot annonce une stratégie produits ambitieuse pour les 3 années à venir, pour les trois marques. Fountaine Pajot va ainsi présenter à la conférence de Presse qui se tient la veille de l'ouverture du salon, trois premiers nouveaux modèles pour le Groupe :

FOUNTAINE PAJOT SAILING CATAMARANS : Top départ pour une nouvelle génération de catamarans :

Un nouveau catamaran Fountaine Pajot Catamarans de 41 pieds sera annoncé à la conférence de Presse. Il représente le premier modèle d'une nouvelle génération de catamarans sur ces deux prochaines années. Le New 41 illustre l'ambition de la marque en alliant innovations, éco-responsabilité, à un prix ajusté défiant toute concurrence.

Première mondiale : Cannes et Annapolis 2025

DUFOUR : Un renouvèlement complet du cœur de gamme

A la suite du succès du nouveau Dufour 44 et des derniers modèles, tant sur le marché des particuliers que sur le charter, le groupe annonce en exclusivité le lancement du Dufour 48 qui sera mis à l'eau au Printemps 2025.

D'autres modèles suivront avec une volonté de renouvèlement du haut de la gamme en s'appuyant sur le succès de cette stratégie produits réussie.

FOUNTAINE PAJOT MOTOR YACHTS : Un nouveau modèle et une nouvelle marque « Collab » FOUNTAINE PAJOT X COUACH

Fountaine Pajot annonce une collaboration étendue avec le constructeur Couach, avec un premier nouveau modèle dont le nom et la marque seront annoncés au salon de Miami 2025. Le Code 07, nouveau catamaran à moteur, qui sera présenté plus en détail à la conférence de Presse de Cannes, est le fruit de cette collaboration plus aboutie. Elle donnera naissance à une nouvelle marque dont l'ambition internationale vise particulièrement le marché américain.

Ce nouveau modèle qui sera l'emblème de cette nouvelle marque et qui redéfinit la stratégie Moteur de Fountaine Pajot, bénéficiera des 30 ans d'expertise de Fountaine Pajot Motor Yachts et du savoir-faire industriel de Couach.

Le Code 07 sera un catamaran à moteur assumé, où l'alliance de la puissance, du confort et de l'habitabilité permettront de répondre à des Propriétaires exigeants sur un marché de plus en plus mature.

PLAN ODYSSEA

Le Groupe poursuit son cap vers la décarbonation avec son plan « en route vers 2050 » et pour la partie décarbonation de la navigation un développement croissant des modèles en moteurs hybrides Smart Electric (une trentaine navigants déjà). Cette activité se développe également en externe avec des sociétés charters et constructeurs du marché qui ont adopté cette solution.

In 1998, Fountaine Pajot took a major step becoming a pioneer in power cruising catamarans with the launch of its Motor Yachts range. The catamaran, a concept in which Fountaine Pajot have been experts in for nearly fifty years, was optimised by the shipyard with hulls specifically designed for motor propulsion.

“This power-saving aspect gives catamaran power boats the upper hand when it comes to overcoming the challenges of today's transition to a greener world, where energy consumption is set to become paramount. Their behaviour under sail is also an advantage, as they cut cleanly through the sea.”

All the leading characteristics of a Motor Yacht with the bonus of being more economical.

Exemplary performance at sea

Courtesy of its two-float architecture and suspended central nacelle, the weight of the catamaran is halved and more evenly distributed. Finer hulls reduce buoyancy and require considerably less energy to move the hull through the water. As a result, fuel consumption is half that of a monohull , giving motor catamarans greater range for longer voyages and reaching distant anchorages.

For the same length as a motor yacht, a catamaran enjoys more living space. The number and size of cabins are significantly increased. The wide beam creates a more spacious saloon as well as increasing the single-level living areas inside and out, making onboard movement more seamless.

Take a quick walk along pushkin street.

Pushkin Street is the main promenade in the downtown city area. The street, named after Alexander Pushkin, is full of cafés, bars , restaurants and historical statues, along with beautiful flowers and trees; it’s an ideal place to spend a relaxing weekend. Don State Public Library, located in a unique modern building and one of the biggest libraries outside of Moscow, also sits on Pushkin Street.

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Classic hull speed formula:

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

• SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
• D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Ballast / Displacement * 100

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.

D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³

• D: Displacement of the boat in pounds.
• LWL: Waterline length in feet

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.

Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam 1.33 )

• D: Displacement of the boat in pounds
• LOA: Length overall in feet
• Beam: Width of boat at the widest point in feet

Capsize Screening Formula

This formula attempts to indicate whether a given boat might be too wide and light to readily right itself after being overturned in extreme conditions. Read more.
