While official data on Blue’s specifications remains scarce, industry insiders estimate that the luxurious yacht can comfortably accommodate a minimum of 48 guests across 24 lavish staterooms.

Additionally, the impressive megayacht is designed to house a dedicated crew and staff of 80 members within 40 well-appointed cabins, ensuring an exceptional level of personalized service for everyone onboard.

Blue’s powerful MTU engines propel this incredible motor yacht, enabling it to reach top speeds of over 20 knots. For those who prefer a more leisurely journey, the yacht’s estimated cruising speed is a comfortable 16 knots.

Formerly known as Project Blue, the 160-meter superyacht Blue was launched in February 2022 and is now the fifth-largest yacht globally in terms of length overall (LOA). Terence Disdale masterfully designed both the interior and exterior of the 15,320 GT superyacht, taking full advantage of the vessel’s 22.5-meter beam and generous deck spaces.

In a statement from the shipyard, it was revealed that a heightened focus on environmental sustainability played a crucial role in Blue’s construction.

The superyacht is among the largest vessels in the world to be equipped with a diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system, featuring PTI/PTO units that can be utilized for electric propulsion at lower speeds or for generating electricity to power the vessel at higher speeds.

This innovative technology not only showcases the advancements in marine engineering but also significantly reduces Blue’s environmental impact.

Blue’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond its state-of-the-art propulsion system. The vessel is equipped with an innovative after-treatment system and an advanced wastewater treatment plan utilizing new membrane technology. This system allows the treated wastewater to be safely discharged in “drinking water quality,” according to the shipyard.

One of the world’s largest superyachts just hit the water.

Lürssen’s mighty new 525-footer, christened Blue , left the Bremen yard in Germany on Saturday, July 2, after successfully completing her sea trials in late June. The behemoth is now the fifth-longest superyacht in the global fleet and one of the biggest in the world in terms of volume. In fact, she offers a giant interior of 14,785 GT.

Size isn’t the only thing that matters, though. The shipyard says Blue was designed to be as efficient and eco-friendly as possible. She is equipped with a diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system that was developed in-house. In addition, the behemoth vessel is fitted with a high-tech exhaust system that reduces noise, vibrations and emissions, according to the yard. She also sports an innovative wastewater treatment plant that allows treated wastewater to be safely disposed of in “drinking water quality.”

The team from Terence Disdale Design worked with Lürssen to create the yacht’s sleek, contemporary exterior and traditional interior. You can, of course, expect a laundry list of amenities, including not one but two helipads and a huge swim platform aft that connects to a beach club. Lürssen did not share any details regarding Blue ‘s exact layout, but there will no doubt be cabins and lounges aplenty.

Of course, Lürssen has proven itself adept at delivering sizable superyachts. In fact, the German yard is responsible for 13 out of the 25 top builds in the industry. That includes the world’s longest superyacht, Azzam , which measures just shy of 593 feet and offers a volume of 13,136 GT.

Blue is now en route to the Mediterranean where she will enjoy her very first season with her new owners.

EXTERIOR Few details are currently known; however, images reveal a spacious beach club aft, seven decks, a foredeck helipad, a second helipad on the sundeck aft, and a Jacuzzi plus sunpads on the sundeck forward.

M/Y BLUE has two Diesel engines connected to PTI/PTO units that can be used for electric propulsion at lower speeds and for generating electricity at higher speeds. There is also an electric Azimuth Pod Drive that can be used together with the PTI units or separately.

Another cutting-edge technology installed for the comfort of guests and reduced environmental impact reduces noise and vibrations, and new membrane technology to bring wastewater to drinking water quality before it is removed.

INTERIOR Information about the interior, by Terence Disdale Design, is yet to be made available. But Terence Disdale is a titan of yacht design and responsible for some of the most well-known yachts in the world. His design style is broad ranging and takes inspiration from his love of fishing and the outdoors.

Motor Yacht

Project Blue is a 160m motor yacht currently under construction in Lurssen's Bremen shipyard in Germany.

Due to be delivered in 2023, 160m Project Blue is Lurssen's second-largest superyacht.

After her secretive launch on the 24th February 2022, very little is known about the specifications of, and the designers behind, this incredible German built vessel.

Project Blue is a custom motor yacht with a 21m beam, and an expected gross tonnage of 15,320 GT. Her other specifications are currently unknown.

The world’s second largest superyacht BLUE begins sea trials

Measuring around 160m (525ft), the luxury mega yacht BLUE has left Lürssen’s facilities in Bremen to begin sea trials.

First hitting the water in February 2022 when she made her way to the Bremen facilities for final fit-out, the superyacht is now heading to the North Sea to start her sea trials.

BLUE boasts an impressive volume of 15,320 GT ranking her the second-largest yacht in the world in terms of gross tonnage. She follows shortly behind superyacht DILBAR , who tonnage wise, is the biggest superyacht ever launched with a total volume of 15,917 GT.

While much of the project is still shrouded in secrecy, we do know that superyacht BLUE features naval architecture by Lürssen and that Terence Disdale Design created her sharp-looking exterior and interior design. 

All of the four upper decks feature a sizable alfresco entertaining area and there is also a swimming platform connected to a beach club on board, providing guests with seamless access to the water. Images of the megayacht also reveal a pair of helicopter landing sites; a large helideck at the bow and a smaller helipad aft. 

Expected to be completed later this year, her sea trials mark one step closer to her long-awaited delivery.

84 Luxury Yacht Interiors: Bedroom, Galley and Salon Pictures

A yacht is really just a luxury floating home . When you’re talking 70 feet and larger, they’re a lot nicer than my house. As you’ll see in the luxury yacht interiors below, the quality and aesthetics are simply gorgeous. And we merely feature a small handful of such boats. There are thousands and thousands of these worldwide.

Our epic yacht interiors article is split into 5 galleries:  staterooms, guest bedrooms , salons and dinettes, kitchens and bathrooms. Yacht Primary Bedrooms (Staterooms)

We kick off our yacht interiors gallery with the stateroom. When it comes to the primary bedroom on these boats, no expense is spared. They are large, comfortable and stunning in design. These bedrooms are bigger than our primary bedroom.

Yacht Guest Bedrooms (2 Beds)

Many guest bedrooms on a yacht have two beds so that it can accommodate more people. However, they are, as you’ll see below, still very, very luxurious. These are certainly cozy sleeping quarters.

Salon and Dinette Photos

My favorite room on the boat is the salon and/or dinette area. In many cases, the dinette doubles as the living room. Mega yachts have dedicated salons and dining areas. I love these superb lounge designs below in the cabin as well as the upper lounge areas.

I must admit that kitchens on these super yachts are fairly small. I guess the cooking is done by the staff and yacht owners prefer to have more space for bedrooms, deck space and lounge space. That makes sense given there really is limited space. Nevertheless, these kitchens are gorgeous and the yacht designers certainly didn’t skimp with respect to quality.

Most boats dedicate very little space to bathrooms. Not these. The primary bathrooms below are incredible. The smaller bathrooms are guest bathrooms. These luxury yachts are so large and spacious that even the bathrooms are both beautiful and comfortable to use.

Luxury yacht docked at Marina del Rey sinks after fire

MARINA DEL REY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A high-end yacht docked at Marina del Rey sank after catching on fire Wednesday night.

The fire in Basin A was first reported around 8:30 p.m.

Firefighters responded and were pouring water on the 100-foot vessel from the dock.

Witness video captured the sounds of several explosions as firefighters were battling the flames.

But the interior flames appeared to resist the water hoses and the boat continued sustaining damage.

It was taking on water from the hoses as the flames, possibly fueled by a gas source, continued to burn.

The yacht began listing, and by around 10:30 p.m. firefighters were ordered to evacuate the dock. The boat began slowly overturning onto its side and sinking into the water.

There were no major injuries reported. Two people on board exited safely, though one reported a minor cut to the arm.

There was no word on how the fire started.

The boat is named The Admiral, but the identity of the owner was not immediately available.

Blue II: On board the 56m steamship-style superyacht

BOAT steps on board Blue II , a unique Arctic cruiser that pairs the aesthetic of a working ship with the heart of a classic sailing yacht.

To every yacht, there is a backstory… but this extraordinary-looking 56 metre from Turquoise demands one perhaps more than most. People don’t just wake up one morning and announce: “Let’s build an explorer motor yacht in Turkey for cruising polar regions that looks like the conversion of a 1960s ship.” They don’t by chance create a brief for single screw hybrid propulsion or combine a tough ice-classed hull with an elegantly curved sheerline.

The beginning of Blue II might have been half a decade ago, but Dutch naval architect Andre Hoek takes its genesis back much further. “Years ago, someone I know bought a decommissioned North Sea buoy-laying ship intending to convert it into a yacht. He was going to gut it and asked me what I would [design]. It was a really beautiful ship, and I told him I would do a design on the condition he did not scrap it,” Hoek explains. He created a new profile and a GA with a cruising interior, which the owners liked, but then the project went dark for several years and he heard the hull was for sale. “I had put so much time into it that I thought I should go and look for a client for it.” And find one he did; an owner ready to cruise further afield in greater comfort and with more amenities than his present 33.5-metre sailing yacht allowed. Yet he did not want a large, white, showy yacht.

Seeing Hoek’s sketches of what the 50-plus-metre ship could become, he was instantly enamoured. The owners, passionate conservationists and active sponsors of establishing marine-protected areas, wanted to build a yacht that could cruise to the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, Arctic and Antarctic waters, and traverse the Northwest Passage. It should also be able to accommodate a three-person submarine and carry out expeditions. Their wish was for a motor yacht that would break the mould; something completely different, combining a workboat look, a classic motor yacht style and a balanced profile.

The lines Hoek had drawn for the conversion took styling cues from a decades-old Dutch salvage tug style, as exemplified by Holland, a brawny boat with huge working decks and a canoe stern, no less. Hoek designed a completely new aluminium superstructure and gave it smart-looking details including teak decks, skylights and brightwork cladding on the upper and bridge decks. Turquoise Yachts in Istanbul, which built the vintage-looking motor yacht Vajoliroja (now Arriva) and completed a refit of Haida G (now Haida 1929 ), and where Hoek had built two classic-looking sailing yachts with yard founder Mehmet Karabeyoğlu, was a logical choice for such a project.

However, the original romantic idea of converting an available ship by gutting the hull and replacing the superstructure was scuttled by concerns over the quality of the old steel plating and tankage limitations. “It was better just to start over,” says Hoek.

“The owners were disappointed of course, but quickly announced they wanted to proceed with a new-build boat with the stipulation that it look exactly the same as the drawings for the conversion,” recalls Karabeyoğlu. “The original hull had a lot of camber and rocker to the decks. It was a very traditional design and, cunningly, Andre kept that.” The new-build Blue II was born. The silver lining in this dark cloud was that now the vessel could be a bit longer and wider. These two things, says Karabeyoğlu, removed original compromises to the technical spaces and gave much-needed breathing room to the tender bays under the aft main deck, although at a maximum beam of 9.55 metres the hull is narrower than typical 56-metre yachts by half a metre or more.

“Large tenders were part of the original brief, as was the owners’ insistence on them not being stored on deck. Given the curved sheer and the low freeboard, we could not launch the tenders through a side hatch,” Hoek says. By large, he means a limo tender of nearly 10 metres – quite the support boat for a 55.9-metre yacht. The owners’ tender and the crew tender/rescue boat, plus their crane, would have to deploy through hatches in the aft main deck. US-based Nautical Structures, which has been supplying cranes to Turquoise for 20 years, created the custom six-tonne capacity articulating crane that stows invisibly athwartships as well as the 10.4-metre-long hydraulic hatches that close seamlessly with the curved deck.

Richard Masters, whose CV includes conversions similar in nature to the original concept, acted as the owners’ representative. He gave the Turkish yard high marks for rolling with the change from conversion to new build. “I love building in Turkey, where the workers are extremely resourceful and think out of the box,” he says. The new hull also gave Hoek Design the opportunity to apply CFD to the hull, optimising its efficiency. However, the new hull would require that the vessel meet IMO Tier III certification with selective catalytic reduction on engine exhausts.

The owners and Hoek had agreed from the beginning that the yacht would operate with a single propeller as is common on commercial ships. “One large prop is more efficient and better for operating in ice than twin props farther from the centreline,” notes Hoek. The owners wanted the yacht to have a small environmental footprint, thus the development of a full diesel-electric propulsion system with modern exhaust gas treatment.

In contrast to this 21st-century system beneath Blue II’s skin, when the principal owner committed to the new hull, he was adamant about maintaining the original styling aesthetic from near-vertical bow to curved sheer and low profile. They gained 50 centimetres in the beam of the lower deck, which allowed them to improve the staircase to the guest lobby and enable a hidden passage from there to crew spaces, but there was no increase in overall height or between deck space.

The yacht’s GA is particular, with in essence two master suites – one each for co-owners who have been business partners for 30 years. The spacious master on the main deck forward is adjacent to the sauna, hammam and gym/massage room. The upper master features 180-degree views across the raised bow with its array of skylights and outdoor seating. Tastefully finished in blue and white, its entry area contains a surprise circular staircase to a cosy, private office behind the bridge above. While there is a watch berth in the ship’s office adjacent to the bridge, the captain’s cabin is on the lower deck to allow the rest of the upper deck space for guest use, including a handsome lounge/games room. Typically, there are no overhead beams on a steel and aluminium yacht’s deckheads as they aren’t structurally required, but the principal owner and his wife, who designed many details themselves, asked for beams as part of an overall classic look.

The interior design was led by Hoek Design and supported by British designer John Vickers. Andre Hoek says he has rarely worked with owners so intimately involved with all design details. “They said the ship is really about how they feel and how they live their lives. The owners have designed their residences themselves. With Blue II , they wanted to again take the lead in all aspects, from structural aspects to sofa proportions. Above all, they wanted something timeless. We kept a very simple palette of gloss-finished teak, white paint and soft beige upholstered panels.”

Self-sufficiency isn’t just a maxim for the yacht’s equipment, but a way of life for the owners as well. Vickers points out the walk-up bar and coffee station in the saloon. “The owners like to be able to look after their own drinks or coffee. You can help yourself to things. They are very relaxed on the boat.”

If chic and cosy are the bywords for the interior, the main deck saloon is about as cosy as they come, with a wide-plank oak floor and durable faux sisal rugs, dining on port and a sitting area to starboard. Both areas are anchored by a full-height bookcase forward on centreline, which creates a sense of symmetry. Behind the bookcase is a television viewing area with overstuffed seating. However, the bookcase can rotate 360 degrees so that the screen can face the larger area of the saloon as well. This kind of adaptability will be welcome during long cruises and makes the boat look larger than its length or 706 GT internal volume would imply.

Vickers also introduced a few tricks to make the interior seem more spacious, including cantilevered desks in cabins and the upper deck lobby, which don’t take up any floor space. Double doors to the baths for the VIP and two largest guest cabins seem to enlarge each of them.

The owners chose the colour scheme and selected some fabrics and window treatments while Dols & Co Interiors of Amsterdam worked with the owners to select boldly patterned accent fabrics. The joinery and built-in furniture are the work of long-time Turquoise supplier Ulutaş. The same teak, blue and white colour scheme continues outside, where the owners requested a lot of seating areas but not a lot of loose furniture, which he believed would take away from the classic look.

Masters says the owner’s passion for design and detail is apparent throughout this highly personal yacht. “After being aboard for a while he told me that he ‘appreciates how every space is unique. You always know where you are.’ He finds the pleasure of relaxing at the main deck transom seating and looking down her aft deck to the beautifully proportioned superstructure a joy every day.”

For Hoek, creating Blue II has been an equally fruitful journey and is the largest volume yacht for which the studio has provided naval architecture, exterior styling and interior design. “This design is a sensible step for us from our sailing superyachts,” he says. “We thought about this for quite some time: what type motor yacht would our sailing yacht owners want? It is modern below the water yet displays classic lines. It will not be quickly outdated but will still look great in 10 to 20 years. There is definite value in classic lines.” And as her owners rack up adventures on board, as the years roll by she’ll have an even more interesting story to tell.

The Vanderpump Rules cast member  welcomed the newest member of her family earlier this month, and on the Sept. 18 episode of her podcast  Give Them Lala , she detailed how things got slightly complicated for her newborn shortly after she was born.  Ocean Kent Emmett

"By 10:13 p.m., my baby angel was in the world..." Lala recalled, noting that it had only taken two minutes of pushing, which sparked some concerns from her doctor. "During my second to last push, [my doctor] kind of stands up really fast and he's fixated on the monitor. And he's making eyes with the nurse who's reading things to him that I clearly don't understand because I'm not a doctor. And he looks nervous. I'm like, 'Is everything OK?' [and] he goes, 'I want you to keep pushing. We're gonna keep pushing.' And I was like, 'Tell me when to go,' and he's like, 'I want you to go right now.'"

As Lala explained, "The [umbilical] cord was wrapped around her neck a couple of times."

"He stayed calm because I could see that something was wrong, but he didn't let me know that," she continued on the podcast. "She comes out, they put her on my chest, and I go to hug her [and] embrace my baby, but the way that the nurse is acting with the baby not crying... She does one cry and stops."

Lala then began repeatedly asking if Sosa was OK as she had noticed that the nurses were "rubbing her chest [and] sucking things out of her mouth."

"Apparently, for Mama, it was great that she came out so quickly because I didn't have to push very many times, but with a fast birth like that, she swallowed a lot of fluid, amniotic fluid," Lala explained. "To the point where, during our stay in the hospital, they were going to discharge me the next day, but she had so much fluid that she was vomiting all the food she had."

Lala said that the nurses ultimately brought in a specialist after Sosa "turned purple." They then had to keep draining amniotic fluid from her stomach, and they considered keeping her in the NICU.

After a difficult first few days, things changed for the better for Lala and Sosa. 

"Cut to, they do send me home," Lala said. "She's fine, they're not concerned anymore..." the former SUR hostess continued. "All is fabulous. She gained a pound in one week."

Lala also gushed about her baby girl and the impact she had on the staff at the hospital.
