Turkish superyacht builder Mengi Yay

Mengi Yay Yachts was founded in 1964 by Ramazon Mengi after he was inspired following years of watching his father dedicate himself to the art of boatbuilding. Mengi took his first steps in the shipbuilding industry as an apprentice, learning the necessary techniques to construct small rowing and fishing builders. His relentless ambition enabled him to establish Mengi Yay Yachts as one of the world’s most respected shipyards, which continues to push the boundaries of Turkish yacht manufacturing.

The boat builder owns one of the largest shipyards at 19.365m2, explicitly designed to handle full refits and for building custom superyachts and sailing vessels. The Turkish superyacht builder has produced over 200 yachts and employs over 350 staff, experts in designing and constructing the world’s most luxurious boats.

Mengi Yay Yachts is renowned for its use of pioneering technology, drawing inspiration from the automobile and spacecraft industries. Some of the technology the Turkish shipyard harnesses include pioneering hybrid and electric propulsion systems, light composite structures, and technologically advanced autonomous software.

Luxury yacht TWINS is a 39m (127'9") Mengi Yay tri-deck motor yacht from the Virtus 39 series, launched in Turkey in 2024. She features naval architecture from Ginton Naval Architects with exterior and interior design by VYD Studio and is constructed with a dark grey steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Mengi Yay is one of the most long-established yacht building companies in Turkey with the experience since 1964.

The company was established by Ramazan Mengi in Ayvansaray as a small workshop. After Muzaffer Yay became partner with Ramazan Mengi in 1985 and they combined their surnames, Mengi Yay was established as our company name The adventure began in Ayvansaray with 3 meters of boat construction, continued moving to Nuh Industrial Site Cooperative establishment in Tuzla in 1984.

The company began constructions of steel boats in 2006 and nowadays building mega yachts in their own yard hangars. Successes of Mengi Yay were confirmed in 2011, 2012 and 2015 with the Yacht and Boat Construction award of Gold Anchor Maritime Success Awards and İstanbul Exporters’ Union (İEU) Turkey Third awards.
