McConaghy 75 – Jack

The McConaghy 75 (MC75) is lightweight, eco-friendly luxury performance cruising catamaran. The progressive design features an appealing flybridge extending aft creating a sweeping, sleek look.

Performing with an effortless grace even in light airs, the MC75 provides smooth sailing prowess with stability and enviable speed. Weighing half the weight of many of her contemporaries she can sail in sub 10 knots but in 20kts of wind with a code zero flying the MC75 is predicted to reach 21knots of boat speed.

The MC75 features a large saloon lounge with a dining area and walk-around bar, a spacious aft deck with sofas and al fresco dining space, and cushioned sun pads forward of the superstructure. The sophisticated environment offers a fantastic visual connection with the sea. Fully retractable windows and floor-to-ceiling glass create the perception of freedom, with an infinite amount of visual space and an enhanced, symbiotic relationship between inside and out. Within, internal volume has been maximised and every space configured with distinct purpose in a layout that dispels all preconceptions of yacht interiors.

How much should I tip the boat captain/crew?

The crew will work hard to ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable time on board. If you have enjoyed your charter we would suggest a 10% is customary.

How do I confirm a yacht charter?

To confirm a charter we will send you a charter agreement for signature and invoice for a deposit. The owner will counter-sign the charter agreement and then your charter will be confirmed

What else will I need to pay for?

In addition to the charter fee you will pay an Advanced Charter Allowance (ACA) from which the cost for all food and drink for the duration of the charter, fuel, marina and any other additional expenses will be deducted.

What happens once I have booked?

Once you have booked a cruising charter we will be in touch to gather your charter preferences including dietary preferences, meal times and itinerary. We will liaise with the chef to arrange a proposed menu for the charter and put you in touch with the crew via Whatsapp chat.

What are high and low season dates for Caribbean cruising charters

High Season includes the Christmas and New Year period (approx 28th December – 7th January) and 2 weeks around Easter

Can I charter a yacht for a corporate event?

Yes, we offer corporate yacht charters that are perfect for team-building exercises and other corporate functions.

What insurance will I need?

The yacht is fully insured but you will need your own personal insurance that covers yacht racing

Do I need an owners rep/boat captain and what role will they have?

Most of our yachts have to come with a boat captain / owner’s representative; this person isn’t there to be the skipper and they can fit into your team wherever you need. There knowledge of the boat can help you get the best performance from the boat and minimise avoidable damage.

Eating out as a crew?

If you decide to venture out as a group and wish to include the permanent crew, please remember that what is your holiday is their job. If you would like to show your appreciation for all their hard work in making your holiday a success by asking them to join you for a night out, then please be kind enough to pay for their expenses.

What is racing yacht charter?

Racing yacht charter is a unique opportunity that allows you to charter a race prepared yacht with your team and participate in regattas around the world. We can cater for race charter opportunites from a group of friends wanting a fun regatta in the sun to a professional team looking for silverwear.

Do I need sailing experience to participate in a racing yacht charter?

Sailing experience requirements varies according to yacht and regatta of choice. Some yachts like a Volvo 65 require more sailing experience than joining the team on a 40′ racer cruiser. When arranging your charter with you we discuss any pre-requisite experience with you.

What is the duration of a racing yacht charter?

For most racing charters your schedule will include 2 training days prior to the event start date, for offshore races a third day for boat preparation will also be included.

What additional costs should I expect?

In addition to the charter fee you may pay a security deposit and an Advanced Charter Allowance (ACA) to cover charter related costs including race entry, berthing and other charter related costs.

Can you arrange accommodation?

Yes, we offer a regatta concierge service which means that in addition to arranging your race entry and berthing we can also recommend and book accommodation ashore, flights, transfers and restaurant bookings as well as much more.* * 10% service charge applies for regatta concierge services

Once you have booked a charter we will be in touch to gather crew information in order to handle the race entry on your behalf. As the regatta date approaches we will connect you with the Boat Captain via Whatsapp chat and provide useful information on both the event and on the location. We are available at any time via phone or email to answer any other questions or queries you may have.

What is the security deposit for?

The security deposit is to cover damage to the yacht, that is more than just general wear and tear that would be expected when racing. In the worst case scenario it will cover the excess should there be the need for a claim on the yacht’s insurance. However, it is also there to cover less serious damage that does not warrant an insurance claim like damages to sails. If there is no damage then we will refund the security deposit in the week following the charter. If there are any damages the value of these damages will be assessed and the balance of the security deposit refunded after these costs have been deducted.

Construction update on first 23.3m McConaghy MC75 sailing catamaran

Builder McConaghy Boats has given a construction update on the first hull in its 23.3 metre MC75 sailing catamaran series.

The hull has now been released from the mould while construction on the interior furniture is also underway.

It comes after the yard commenced construction on the 23.9 metre MC82p in July 2021 , which is set to be their largest yacht to hit the waters with a 2023 delivery date. 

The MC75 features exterior design penned by  Ker Yacht Design while interiors come from Italian studio m2atelier .

Speaking about the design, owner of m2atelier Marco Bonelli said: “We are honoured to have been involved in the interior design for the MC75, and to be working with such a revolutionary company [like McConaghy].”

With a beam of 9.3 metres, the MC75’s “apartment-like” open-plan interior features a large saloon lounge with a dining area and walk-around bar, while sofas and an alfresco dining space are located on the aft deck.

“The lightweight yacht is designed to offer contemporary on-water living. Lots of fully retractable windows and floor-to-ceiling glass create the perception of freedom,” said the yard.

The MC75 is estimated to reach 21 knots of speed in 20 knots of wind. Accommodation will be for a total of ten guests in five ensuite double cabins.

Construction on the MC75 began in June 2021, while a delivery date of autumn 2022 has been slated. McConaghy is best known for creating the iconic 42.6 metre trimaran Adastra , currently listed for sale with Burgess .

The open-plan interior can be tailor-made, with bespoke pieces that meet the client’s request for convenience and versatility as well as designer aesthetic. The MC75 features a huge saloon lounge with a dining area and walk-around bar, a spacious aft deck with sofas and al fresco dining space, and cushioned sun pads forward of the superstructure. There are five seaward-facing berths, all en suite, as well as a crew cabin – adjacent to the galley in the port hull.

So what Sets the McConaghy 75 catamaran Apart form the Rest?

Lets start with the safe, push button control, high aspect ratio centerboards. Unlike many other high-performance catamarans – the MC75 has been designed and engineered with safety as its core parameter. Potentially hazardous daggerboards which could create a collision hull breach have been avoided. McConaghy has replaced them by a simple but highly effective push-button centerboard system. This is a first in this luxury multihull market segment. In the retracted position the centerboard is completely flush with the hull, yet full deployed a high aspect draft of nearly 9’ rivals the most efficient windward foils. In case of striking an underwater object, the centerboards automatically retract and avoid damage to the hull structure.

The McConaghy 75 catamaran also has no front crossbeam, similar to the last generation of America’s Cup foiling catamarans. The McConaghy 75’s stiffness and full carbon longeron allow for this elimination, which further lightens this amazing yacht.

The McConaghy Multihull range is designed with the performance cruiser in mind. Whether you’re an experienced multihull sailor or new to the genre, whether you seek bluewater adventures or coastal cruising with friends and family, these innovative multihulls offer impressive sailing performance in a stylish and luxurious package.

The MC75 stands uniquely apart from the rest of the multihull range. The flagship of the McConaghy Multihulls portfolio, the MC75 feels like a pocket superyacht like no other with her identifiable exterior lines, and key performance attributes. Detail and innovative space solutions allow living areas to be maximized. With the interior volume increased again the massive open saloon is free of bulkheads and partitions and is almost twice the size of those found on 100ft power boats. 

The MC75’s flybridge has also benefited from an increase in space, with this enormous area now offering a dual helm station at the front of this elevated sailing position allowing for clear sightlines forward. Powerful yet manageable, the MC75 will be exhilarating to sail with impressive capabilities for spending long periods at sea and offer an efficiency far superior to other comparable multihulls.   

The MC75 is able to offer a three, four or even five cabin layout, all en suite, as well as separate quarters for a live-aboard crew.
