Asia Yachting Sells Three Units of Prestige M48

Prestige’s parent company Groupe Beneteau has recently announced a record-breaking financial year.

Asia Yachting, the Hong Kong dealer of French boatbuilder Prestige, has sold three units of the M48 multihull motor yacht within a year. The news comes just as Prestige’s parent company Groupe Beneteau announces a record-breaking financial year.

This model from Prestige’s first multihull motor yacht line, the M-line, made its world debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in 2022. With its elegant and innovative design, it immediately caught the attention of many multihull lovers. A larger model, M8, was launched the next year for those looking for even more space onboard.

Asia Yachting brokers Jordi Esteve, Vinci Cheung and Brian Leung successfully facilitated the sale of three individual units to distinct buyers. For one o f the buyers, the M48 is also one of their first forays into the multihull motor yacht category. They report they are especially impressed with the model’s slender yet towering design. They also report that the M48’s sleek and elegant aesthetics blend with the practical layout and multiple social spaces, catering to the needs of their family and friends.

“We are thrilled to see our first multihull motor yacht model is becoming the new favourite of the yacht lovers in Asian markets, with Hong Kong being one of the most important markets in the APAC area,” says Tanguy Tertrais, Asia-Pacific sales director of Prestige Yachts.

“The comfort, stability and volume a multihull offers have been some of the reasons why we have recorded such a strong growth (17 %) on the ‘Real Estate on the Water’ and sales segments in Groupe Beneteau’s last finance year, and the sales of M48 in the region is the major push of the growth.”

The M48 is launching officially in the APAC region, including Japan, Australia, and Hong Kong later this year, with a Hong Kong debut slated to be ‘very soon’, according to Asia Yachting.

Sunrise Yachts, a luxury yacht building company which is based in Turkey, has been made a main sponsor of next year’s 2011 Moscow International Boat Show (MIBS). The four-day Russian yacht show event is currently scheduled to run from April 14-17 at the Moscow’s Crocus exhibition centre.

MIBS is organised by the ITE Group and it is one of Russia’s leading boat shows and is an internationally recognised superyacht event. The show covering everything from small parts and accessories to large superyacht with over 9,000 people and 178 exhibitors attended the last year show.

The Paolo Scanu-designed Sunrise 45 yacht is an ocean-going cruising yacht that was released in 2009 to much acclaim at this was the group’s first-ever model.

Sunrise Yachts was founded in 2007 by the German entrepreneur Herbert P Baum along with the French-British yacht builder Guillaume Roché. The luxury yacht group is based in Antalya, Turkey and utilises a 10,000sq m shipyard facility. Sunrise has two sheds measuring 100m (328ft) x 16m (53ft), as well as a 70m (230ft) x 16m (53ft) fully acclimatized paint shed that can accommodate new-build and refit projects up to 65m (213ft) in length and 1,200 tonnes displacement.

Along each side of the yacht-building facility, space is available for long-term sub-contractors with the latest equipment and logistics capabilities, along with air-conditioned storage, ventilation and extraction plants. The shipyard is organized as an “assembler,” based loosely on the car industry’s model, with a small, yet powerful project management team charged with running all the in-house long-term sub-contractors.

How to pick the right yacht?

Owning a yacht is a dream come true for many people. But with so many options available on the market, choosing the right one can be a daunting task. From the purpose of the boat, the size to the budget, there are quite a few questions you need to ask yourself before picking the right yacht for yourself. We’ll explore some criteria to help you find the right yacht for your needs.

Day trippers

The purpose of the boat is the first factor to consider when choosing the right one. If you plan to use the boat for day trips, a smaller boat around 40 feet like the Prestige 420 may be a good option. It’s smaller in size but with a big flybridge and lots of space as social area, making it perfect for short-distance trips and great for social gatherings.

Weekend getaways

If you plan to use the boat for some overnight weekend trips, then you may want something with a bit more space. Bigger boats can also travel longer distances because they have bigger fuel tanks and more powerful engines. Models like Prestige 590 or X70 are perfect for family and friend weekend trips, as they have enough space for different activities, the big aft-cockpit will be perfect for a sunset dinner and spacious flybridge is great for stargazing in the middle of the sea. Bigger yachts also provide more cabins, meaning more guests can be accommodated comfortably on board.

Mid-distant destinations

For a bit longer-distance trips, a bigger-sized sail catamaran like the Fountaine Pajot Tanna 47 will be a good choice. Sail catamarans offer numerous advantages like stability, reduced fuel consumption, and more space. They’re ideal for longer journeys due to their stability, comfort, space and ability to sail faster downwind. 

Oversea adventures

And if you are looking to go for even longer distance destinations like Thailand or the Philippines from Hong Kong, besides sail catamarans, power catamarans that are larger than 50ft and motor monohull yachts that are bigger than 60ft will be great options for you, as bigger sized yachts do better offshore. For long distance overseas destinations, power catamarans offer more space and reduced fuel consumption, allowing them to go further than similarly sized monohull yachts. The Fountaine Pajot Power 67 or Prestige M8 are recommended if you plan to explore further into Asia or the Pacific.

Big-group users

Besides the purpose of the yacht, the number of people who will be using the boat is another factor to consider. For instance, catamarans have more space and cabins for their size compared to monohulls, making them ideal for families and larger groups. They also offer separated cabins in two sides of the hulls, providing more privacy and comfort. Flybridge motor yachts and large catamarans offer multiple shaded entertaining outdoor areas that always allow guests to find their own private space on the main deck or on the flybridge.
