1983 Olson 30 sailboat, with trailer $9950 Satellite Beach

1983 Olson 30 sailboat, Hull #163, with double axle trailer for sale or trades considered. Trailer has 5 new tires, brakes just gone through, new surge brake actuator. Great phrf racer and daysailer. New North Aramid Technora mainsail (used 7 times!) and brand new UK X Drive 155 genny (used twice! ) with a fairly new roller furler. This boat has 5k dollars worth of new racing sails on her. Spare 150 genny and a delivery mainsail. Two new bulkhead mount compasses, Nautos 39665. Speed and depth on bulkhead, new cascading racing backstay with Amsteel dyneema rope, new outhaul, boom vang, new line on jib car tracks, new deep cycle NAPA battery, Solar charging system, powered by a Yamaha 8 hp two stroke which runs like a top! New impeller and recently tuned. Spinnaker pole and .75 North symmetric spinnaker in good condition. New spinnaker sheets, new main halyard and new Dyneema spinnaker halyard. The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

• SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
• D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.

D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³

• D: Displacement of the boat in pounds.
• LWL: Waterline length in feet

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.

Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam 1.33 )

This 100’ MAIORA 30 WALKAROUND motor yacht for sale is designed, engineered and built by the historical shipyard based in Viareggio, in close collaboration between the Centro Stile Maiora and the design studio Quartostile in Turin. Awarded with the prestigious “Best Evolution” trophy and the World Yachts Trophies Awards in Cannes, this model rewarded the shipyard for being able to develop new models, while maintaining the distinctive stylistic lines that have become typical of all Maiora motor yachts.

Built in 2022 on a Kevlar & carbon-reinforced GRP semi-displacement hull, this 30.5m MAIORA 30 WALKAROUND flybridge is one of the highest demanded 5-cabin Superyachts on the charter market. This new-series model from the Italian brand Maiora of Next Yacht Group, is the result of a renovated in-house production, that stands out with her large outdoor areas and broad side walkways allowing easy and safe passenger access from stern to bow.

Her impressive 120 square meter full-beam flybridge is totally free of any obstacles, making it a perfect place to sunbathe or relax under the stars, and is dotted with a pop-up TV, a bar, al-fresco dining area, and an octagonal Jacuzzi surrounded by sun beds. Conceived as a revamp of the Olson 30, the Olson 29 was  in 1984. The 29 has the same hull as the 30, but everything else is different. The 29 had 3 important and more forward-thinking features when compared to the Olson 30: Ellpitical keel and rudder, fractional rig and open transom.

Production commenced 1985 and it is believed that only 27 Olson 29’s were built.

Due the smaller fore triangle, the 29 actually has less upwind sail area than the 30. The down wind sail area is higher as the 29’s mainsail is larger than the 30 and utilizing the “stock” penalty pole, the 29 has the same sized spinnaker as the 30.
