All Land & See furniture is refined in our manufactory and can be adapted to our customers’ requirements in terms of finish, upholstery and cover fabric. Only sustainably cultivated plantation teak wood is used for Land & See outdoor furniture (Indonesian Legal Wood).

At sea with Siebensee: Two superyacht furniture giants join forces

When it comes to finding the very best outdoor furniture for your superyacht, where better to look than to two respected manufacturers who have joined forces? Siebensee is the result of a collaboration between furniture company Finkeldei and exterior fitted furniture specialist Stükerjürgen. The two German brands have combined their skills and expertise to create a line of premium outdoor furniture, available in a wide variety of materials and at an attractive price point. The goal for Siebensee from the outset was to create high-quality products that can be customised to meet the individual requirements of designers, contractors and shipyards. Its first collection, Baltic, was launched at last year’s Monaco Yacht Show and was extremely well received. Unsurprisingly some might say, given the already glowing reputation of its founders.

Both Finkeldei and Stükerjürgen are already well regarded in the worlds of furniture making and superyachts. The family-run Finkeldei specialises in designing, manufacturing and maintaining bespoke furniture, and you can find its custom pieces on six of the 10 largest yachts in the world. The company is particularly known for the quality of its upholstered pieces, having maintained the same high standards of finish for more than 60 years. Finkeldei uses only the best raw materials and traditional hand-crafting practices and, thanks to its skilled team of in-house artisans, can turn even the most demanding furnishing ideas into reality.

Stükerjürgen has long been considered the expert for the development and manufacture of individual fitted furniture for exterior decks. Its expertise comes from 30 years of experience working in the yacht and aviation industries, and the company is now able to produce luxurious pieces that are beautiful, durable, lightweight and UV and saltwater resistant. Only the highest-quality materials are used in the manufacturing process, and Stükerjürgen offers its clients a comprehensive service, from measuring, engineering and manufacturing to painting and onboard assembly.

Together Finkeldei and Stükerjürgen have created Baltic, Siebensee’s first collection, which consists of several types of seating and sun loungers, a range of tables, a bar cabinet, and even an umbrella stand. Each item within the Baltic collection combines the finest teak wood and polished stainless steel, and various models can be customised to the client’s wishes. On the round dining table, for example, the tabletop is available in teak wood, a lighter weight, glass-reinforced plastic, or can be lacquered in a choice of colours. At the centre of the table is an onyx inlay, which can be illuminated by a backlight, and the tabletop rests on a striking cylinder of polished stainless steel that is incredibly lightweight despite its dimensions.

Another highlight of the Baltic collection is the bar cabinet. Formed like a cylinder, the cabinet hides a number of high-tech features, including a fridge that offers storage for a bottle of champagne and six glasses and is controlled by a smartphone app. With the touch of a button, the illuminated fridge silently raises out of the cylinder, allowing access to its contents. The Baltic collection is just the beginning for the new brand, however, and Siebensee has plans to develop further outdoor furniture collections, each in close collaboration with a well-respected designer. Having regularly received compliments on the outdoor furniture designed to illustrate the Van Geest Design (VGD) superyacht concepts, it became clear that the next step would be to develop these superyacht furniture units further.

VGD - superyacht outdoor furniture - FLOW

Tracey Canavaggio’s experience in furniture design and manufacturing development and Pieter van Geest’s know how of composite manufacturing and industrial design provide a unique combination for this development and furniture range.

These designs follow VGD’s general design philosophy: uncluttered, user-friendliness and following through not only the aesthetics but also the super yacht quality construction- and manufacturing.

All furniture units are made from the highest quality marine graded materials.

The furniture materials were selected with a simple maintenance and up keep in mind. Most of the furniture units are made out of lightweight materials, frequently used in the boat building industry, allowing crew to handle the furniture on board.

Composite parts are molded and treated with a polyurethane high gloss topcoat for carbon fiber parts and polyester based high gloss color coating topcoat for the glass fiber.

The fabric selection is for outdoor use.

Large furniture pieces like lounge sofas and sun beds can be easily adapted to the deck camber.

Choosing Patio Furniture

Know your Space

It’s important to consider how much space you have, and how much space you want the furniture to take up. You need to know what function you want your patio furniture to have. If you need the perfect table for an outdoor dining area on warmer nights, you might want to go with something smaller. If you’re looking for a dining set that can host upwards of 8 people for dinner parties on the patio, you might be looking for a bigger outdoor table. If you’re looking for cozy furniture to lounge in, investing in some bigger patio chairs, with cushion options might be more up your alley.

If you have limited outdoor space, it might be best to make a list of all the things you’d like your outdoor space to host or do. Then proceed to analyze what type of furniture might be best for your needs.

Ease and Comfort

Be sure that whatever furniture you invest in is comfortable and suits you. You may save money on furniture that is less comfortable, but find that you never spend time using it. You also want to make sure you invest in patio furniture that will wear well and will be easy to care for. Furniture that’s made with metal, teak, cedar or any other all-weather materials will last longer, and will require less care and upkeep.

You also want to be sure that the furniture you invest in is easy to move. If you intend to cover it or store it for the winter months, it’s important to consider if it’s easy to move or not. You could damage furniture that’s harder to move. It’s much more beneficial for the life of your outdoor furniture to store it during the winter months.

A great idea for helping furniture to last longer, and helping the durability of a deck or patio, is placing furniture on all weather rug. Lots of durable fabrics are being created as outdoor textiles, and placing your patio setup on a thicker rug will help improve the lifetime of both your furniture and wood deck or patio.

If possible, try to find dual purpose pieces. If you can find a cozy couch, that can also double as a bench pulled up to an outdoor table, you’re spending your money most wisely. Comfy chairs for lounging that also double as dining chairs are a great idea as well.
