Most affluent businessmen are written about for their incredible shopping sprees, but German multi-millionaire Lars Windhorst is on a selling-spree. After getting rid of his German football team Hertha BSC, the tycoon is selling his stunner-of-a- superyacht Global. What is alarming is the price at which he is willing to let go of this Lurssen beauty. For $85 million, the co-founder of Tennor Group will bid adieu to a luxury vessel that was valued at $115 million only a year ago. The $30 million discount does aerate news of his bankruptcy, and the sale may be a buoy that would help the German Bill Gates, as he is famously nicknamed, stay afloat in the financial turmoil.

Originally commissioned by Shahid Khan, the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, the yacht named Global (formerly known as Kismet) was delivered in 2007. It underwent a refit in 2024, making Global a truly sought-after yacht that was opulently designed.

GLOBAL Yacht – Marvelous $115M Superyacht

GLOBAL yacht is a 67.1-meter yacht capable of welcoming 12 guests in her very spacious six cabins and fitting up to 13 qualified onboard crew members.

She was built by Shadow Marine back in 2007 and was refitted a year after her completion.

She can cruise at 10 knots and can go up to a maximum speed of 14 knots; she is also available for charter for both the summer and winter seasons.

Designing the interior of GLOBAL yacht is Shadow Marine, a design studio founded to bring the Shadow Boat concept design and create mega-yachts for the wealthy.

They have tons of experience in interior yacht designs, especially ones in 150-280 feet vessels.

One of these yachts is the NORD yacht, a 141.63-meter superyacht capable of carrying 36 guests in her 20 spacious cabins.

She has a steel hull, a teak deck, and an aluminum superstructure. She can cruise at speeds of 15 knots and can go up to 20 knots.

Another is the AHPO yacht, the 115.1-meter behemoth capable of accommodating 12 guests in her seven cabins. She was built by Lurssen in 2021.

She weighed a hefty 4,850 gross tons and cruises at 14 knots and can go to a top speed of 20 knots.

Aboard the GLOBAL yacht, guests can have full access to her amenities such as the yacht’s swimming pool, underwater lights, deck jacuzzi, helipad, gym, and elevator.

She also has access to SatCom; satellite TV has complete air conditioning and wifi access.

Adding to this, she also has tons of toys to play with, such as her Waverunner, laser sailboats, water skis, kayaks, towable toys, snorkeling equipment, and fishing equipment.

She can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in her six cabins with specifications of 1 Master, 4 Doubles, and 1 Twin. 13 qualified crew members can also attend to them.

GLOBAL Yacht specifications

GLOBAL yacht has an overall length that spans 220.2 feet or 67.1 meters, a beam of 40 feet or 12.2 meters, and a draft of 12.2 feet or 3.7 meters. She was engineered to have a teak deck, a steel hull, and an aluminum superstructure.

She weighs approximately 1,303 gross tons and is powered by two diesel-type Caterpillar engines with a model 3512B that can output 3702 hp, which enables her to cruise at speeds of 10 knots and go up to a top speed of 14 knots.

She can also carry 28,000 liters of freshwater and 200,000 liters of fuel in her massive fuel tanks, allowing her to cover over 6000 nautical miles.

The 68.15m/223'7" motor yacht 'Global' (ex. Kismet ) was built by Lurssen in Germany at their Rendsburg shipyard. Her interior is styled by British designer design house Reymond Langton Design and she was completed in 2007. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Espen Oeino and she was last refitted in 2024.

She was built to Lloyds Register + 100 Al, SSC, Yacht, Mono G6, LMC, UMS classification society rules, and is MCA Compliant.

Lars Windhorst is parting with his yacht “Global”

It happens that a super yacht comes up for sale. But the “Global” is Lars Windhorst’s luxury ship, and he is in the headlines.

The yacht broker IYC – The International Yacht Company – has just added a 67-meter yacht to its portfolio. She is being offered for sale for 79 million dollars. Its current owner is reportedly Lars Windhorst.

The venture investor is known to be the owner of the FSG shipyards in Flensburg and Nobiskrug in Rendsburg, which have been in serious difficulties for some time.

Only recently, Schleswig-Holstein’s Minister President Daniel Günther and Windhorst met for a kind of crisis meeting. Among other things, they discussed the lack of orders, outstanding wage payments and the prospects for the two sites. There are also calls from politicians for Windhorst to be pressured into selling the shipyards.

Windhorst assures payments for shipyards

Navy cancels order The navy has canceled the order for the repair of the floating crane “Griep” at Nobiskrug and wants to reverse it. According to media reports, the public prosecutor’s office in Kiel has opened an investigation into FSG-Nobiskrug and the parent Tennor Group – due to the “initial suspicion of withholding or misappropriation of wages.”

After the meeting, Windhorst assured that he would provide the necessary funds for wage payments for the next twelve months, appoint a new managing director in May and announce new orders. There will be no sale, even if the state does not want to provide any of the hoped-for guarantees for the time being.

It is not known whether there is a connection between the situation at the shipyards and the sale of the yacht. The luxury ship in question is the former “Kismet”, built by Lürssen for Shahid Khan in 2007, which according to the broker is in an extremely “well-kept condition” awaiting a new owner.

The “Global” is a yacht designed by Espen Øino (exterior) and Reymond Langton (interior) with six decks, 68 meters long and almost 13 meters wide, so it is by no means the largest of its kind. According to information from the yachting scene, it cost $115 million when it was delivered – with estimated annual operating costs of $11.5 million.

Die Super-Yacht „Global“ des früheren Hertha-Investors Lars Windhorst steht für 79 Millionen Euro zum Verkauf.

Recherchen von Business Insider und der „Financial Times“ legen nahe, dass das Luxusschiff dem Finanzinvestor längst nicht mehr gehören könnte.

Während die 74-Meter-Yacht auf dem Markt ist, überschlagen sich bei Windhorsts deutschen Werften die Ereignisse – die Staatsanwaltschaft ermittelt gegen Verantwortliche der FSG-Nobiskrug.

Ein Landeplatz für Helikopter, Spa und Kinosaal, eine Master-Suite mit Jacuzzi: Die „Global“ ist eine Super-Yacht mit einigen Annehmlichkeiten. Als ihr Besitzer gilt der frühere Hertha-Investor Lars Windhorst. Doch nun bietet ein Makler das 74 Meter lange Luxusschiff zum Kauf an. Für 79 Millionen Euro wäre die „Global“ demnach zu haben. Das Schnäppchen für Superreiche dürfte die Spekulationen um die Finanzlage von Windhorst weiter antreiben.

Denn das einstige „Wunderkind der deutschen Wirtschaft“ steht unter einem enormen Druck. Klagen von Gläubigern, Insolvenzanträge, die drohende Zwangsversteigerung von Beteiligungen – seit Monaten reißen die Hiobsbotschaften aus seinem Firmenreich nicht ab. Ist ihm die Yacht als maritimes Statussymbol zu kostspielig geworden, sucht er nach Geldquellen?

Feadship announces 75m superyacht concept powered entirely by fuel cells

Dutch yard Feadship has announced a new, 75-metre concept known as C, with full details to be revealed at this year's Monaco Yacht Show . The superyacht has been designed by Studio de Voogt to commemorate Feadship's 75th Diamond Anniversary.

C is inspired by the design of a diamond and how its facets reflect and magnify light, which manifests in the use of glazing to "draw light deep into the yacht's interior". Her hull shape and fully electric propulsion system marks an evolution from the shipyard's concept Breathe, revealed in 2010 and the award-winning Savannah . 

This concept is predicted to be "30 per cent more efficient than a typical 75-metre yacht" with dual shafts, propellers, and rudders, according to Feadship. The yacht will also follow on from Feadship's ground-breaking Project 821 by drawing 100 per cent of her power needs from fuel cells directly running on methanol and complimented by lithium-metal batteries.

Other "innovations" on board C are the partially enclosed lower deck sea lounge, to be used at anchor or underway, a beach club with sea-level dining, a duplex owner’s suite and an articulating crow’s nest rising from a private observation deck. A pair of infinity-edge hexagonal pools match the shapes of various seating areas and the atrium. 

The new concept also follows on from an earlier concept, Pure, and the recently-delivered Ulysses with a fully digital command centre and navigation hub that includes "the latest in intelligent situational awareness technology with cameras and data fusion".

The yacht is expected to reach a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots. Additional power for the hotel load will be generated passively by two pairs of wave-actuated fins that fold out from the hull aft of the anchors.
