Luxury yacht manufacturers are spread all over Europe and all over the world. Most of motor yacht manufacturers are based in Europe. Leading super and mega yacht builders are from Northern Europe — Netherlands and Germany. Dutch shipyards specialized in sailing yachts are also the best. Italy has very strong yachtbuilding traditions as well, their yachts of various sizes are truly excellent vessels. Italian shipyards are one of the most successful, they build and sell very well. Great Britain is very good at building luxury motor yachts in GRP with sizes up to 40 m. France for now is less about building super yachts, but stunning sailing yachts and extremely performant multihulls are their success.

United States have numerous shipyards of their own. Each with great history and unique technologies. But european production is getting more and more popular among american clients. Benetti, Overmarine Group | Mangusta, Wider, Feadship, Luerssen — twice a year they all come to the american boat shows with their newest launches and the most successfull yachts.

Asian manufacturers have only recently entered the market. Although some strong production has been already organized in Taiwan.

Australia builds motor yachts rarely but builds very well. Their production is of true luxury. As for New Zealand, it's a unique country with very strong yacht building traditions. They are experts at sailing yachts, brilliant at building motor yachts.

Accommodation

The grand master suite of the yacht is situated in pride of place on the main deck, ensuring high levels of privacy and complete with a service alcove, Owner's lounge and dedicated office suite. LAUREL's master suite is testament to her philosophy of the primacy of guests, which is what this superyacht is all about. Everything that a charter guest could ever ask for in terms of luxury, comfort and convenience is tended to, including walk-in wardrobes, a luxurious oversized shower and private verandas to port and starboard. Here, breathtaking sea views can be enjoyed in ultimate privacy while indulging in a morning coffee or evening stargazing.

The remaining guest cabins are located on the lower deck, each of them ensuite and accessible either by elevator or by the breathtaking spiral staircase with glasswork backdrop of an underwater scene. There will be no wrestling over cabins with four identical and equally luxurious Kings, each boasting its own unique style and colour scheme. LAUREL is the ideal charter yacht for families, owing to her child-friendly setup. Tasmanian boat builder wins New Zealand Defence Force sea boat contract

A Hobart-based boat builder has been awarded a contract by the New Zealand Defence Force to supply rigid hull inflatable boats (RHIB) for the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN).

Sentinel Boats is based at Derwent Park, and previously supplied three 12.5-metre-long Littoral Manoeuvre Craft (LMC) to the RNZN in 2023 .

The latest contract will see 17 780R RHIBs supplied to replace the RNZN’s current Naval Sea Boats and includes an option for three additional RHIBs and research into the viability of an electric-powered version for training purposes.

The RHIBs are manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and are powered by an inboard diesel with Hamilton Jet propulsion. The hulls will be built in Hobart before being shipped to New Zealand for their final fit out and commissioning with Sentinel’s New Zealand partners, Hamilton Jet, ENL Marine Electronics, Mainsail Electronics, Hosking Trailers and Shark Seats.

Global maritime classification society DNV will be engaged to provide independent certification of the design, manufacture and sea trails to ensure a level of quality, safety and fitness for purpose that is unparalleled in this class of vessel.

Sentinel Boats CEO George McGuire said the award built on the success of the Sentinel 1250 LMC, with Sentinel recognised as New Zealand Defence Prime Contractor of the Year 2023 by the NZ Minister of Defence.

“The fact that Sentinel Boats has been selected over much larger multinational defence manufacturers is testament to the hard work and pride of the Sentinel team, our partners including one2three naval architects, and the undisputable performance of our boats,” he said.

“Sentinel Boats has pioneered the use of HDPE in high performance military and law enforcement craft, where it has been proven to offer unrivalled durability, impact resistance and anti-fatigue characteristics. At the same time HDPE hulls require minimal maintenance, eliminating downtime and maximising operational availability as well as significantly reducing in-service support costs.”
