For more than twenty years, Dream Yacht Charter has focused on chartering designer boats that combine great handling characteristics, comfort and plenty of space. You can sail on sailboats or catamarans from top manufacturers such as Aquila, Bali, Beneteau, Dufour, Fountaine Pajot, Jeanneaus, Lagoon...
All boats meet the highest safety requirements, are well maintained and undergo regular technical inspections. In addition, the Dream Yacht Charter fleet is constantly being updated with new yachts, so it is possible to charter even the latest models.
It's a bit of an exaggeration to say that virtually anywhere you put your finger on the map, you can sail on a Dream Yacht Charter boat. From the classic Mediterranean (Croatia , Greece , Montenegro , Turkey ...) to the Caribbean , the Bahamas, Thailand , French Polynesia or Australia or America. But you can also find their ships in the Indian Ocean in the Seychelles and the Maldives.
A new feature is the charter of a sailing boat with captain and hostess in Croatia or Greece . The crew will take care of the itinerary according to your wishes and the food, so you can just relax, swim and visit ancient monuments and secluded bays. For the more discerning customer, Dream Yacht Charter can arrange a bespoke luxury cruise to any destination you wish.
Dream Yacht Charter's marinas can be found purposefully outside of crowded cities or ports. This is said to give clients the opportunity to spend their first and last night on the boat in peace.
At check-in, the marina staff will give you a detailed briefing during the technical briefing on the charter boat, handling, safety equipment and everything else. As an added bonus, you'll also automatically get a map of the area and a few pointers on where to sail or anchor.
More and more sailors are refusing to accept that sailing in Europe is slowly coming to an end as the colder months arrive, and are looking for sailing opportunities in 'warmer climes'. If this is your case, we definitely recommend exotic countries like the Caribbean , the Seychelles , Thailand ... divine beaches and bays, beautiful nature and magical underwater life await you. You don't have to worry about exotic sailing – in our A to Z Exotic Sailing Guide you'll find all the information you need to know before setting sail. What will excite you, what to expect, the best destinations, ships and dates for cruising in distant seas.

Tahiti is incredible and seeing it by boat will leave you feeling bad for everyone stuck at a resort! This was our third charter with Dream Yacht and we enjoyed an excellent experience during booking, check-in and check-out. The base staff in Raiatea are welcoming, informative and genuinely hustle to get you off the dock. We can't wait to return and explore more of French Polynesia!
Date of experience : July 13, 2024
10 days on a Bali 4.6 out of Raiatea. Great trip. Loved it. Normally have gone with Moorings/Sunsail, but as of late their prices have gotten excessive so been trying out DYC. This was my second trip with them (first in La Paz) and already booked a trip for 2025 in Greece with DYC because of great experiences. I generally try and go on their Super Premier or Premier boats to reduce chance of age related issues. Specific to Raiatea, French Polynesia - awesome charter. Want to go back! Great folks.

Had an excellent experience since the booking process until the end of the charter. Everything worked well with the boat and skipper. The team was very professional and efficient. That was our first experience abroad and we intend to repeat.
We had a great family trip to Tahiti ( 6 adults 3 older children) , chartered a 6 cabin catamaran with Captain and Cook. Our Captain was amazing. She asked where we wanted to go, gave suggestions, and then we proceeded to have an amazing week. She took us to some amazing snorkeling spots (black tip sharks, sting rays, beautiful fish) , botanical garden, vanilla plantation, rum distillery and a pearl farm. She was always first and foremost concerned with our safety and comfort. Food was good and plentiful. Catamaran clean and comfortable. We have been on more elegant catamarans but all the above more than made up the difference. My only criticism for Dream Yacht Charter is that they post actual photos of their catamarans on their website. We would not hesitate to book with them in the future. BTW our Captain was Hemanu and Cook Daisy.

Great base, great customer service, proffesional and friendly staff, and most importantly - boats are really well maintained.
We chartered twice with DYC in Raiatea, French Polynesia. We had a great experience both times. We booked directly with DYC, and not through a third party. Both times they delivered. Also, their insurance policy is great. You can sail more or less wherever your want if you are competent. And they will encourage and help! Dream on in the US or EU! When I read all of the bitter posts, I roll my eyes and think that the usual CYA US attitude is going to destroy the whole industry and then nobody can sail in paradise. At least we still could.

The Dubrovnik base was a great location to start our sailing experience. The DYC team got us out on time as promised and the yacht was as expected. Nothing was missing and the vessel was in great shape! Croatia is the most beautiful place to experience and the many islands we stopped in were a lot of fun and the anchorage’s and moorings were amazing [Hvar, Mljet, Lostovo, and Pelisaic]. We will come back and spend more time. Dan Long

I chartered a 52 ft yacht in Antigua and it was unfit for purpose and potentially dangerous. There was an extensive list of faults which ruined our holiday, including a windlass that did not operate, an anchor that did not swivel, reefing lines jammed in the boom and hazardous swim ladder. The yacht also lacked basic appliances, had a hole in the kettle and missing fire extinguishers. This is an accident waiting to happen. I could go on… Dream yachts refused to even acknowledge my emails and sent no apologies. Avoid them at all cost.

Sailing in Palma Mallorca was an absolute delight! The base manager was top-notch, ensuring everything ran smoothly and efficiently. The dock manager's skill and diligence were evident, making the experience even more enjoyable. The location itself was picturesque and offered the perfect backdrop for a fantastic time on the water. I had an amazing experience overall and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable sailing adventure.

DYC makes it really easy to charter a bareboat sailing vacation. Having done a dozen trips with the competition in BVI, Bahamas, Greece, Italy, etc I feel more confident in Dream's ability to get you on a high quality boat on time and in good condition. When they missed the boat (pun intended) in one situation, they were also gracious about admitting fault and offering a credit to future trips. I especially want to call out Savannah Collins on the American sales team who was a joy to work with over the phone. Thanks for everything Savannah!

Unfortunately our 3rd tour with DYC was disappointing. The captain was disinterested, rude and barely present. The Abacos are still worth seeing - with a different crew. Despite our feedback, Dream Yacht Charter didn't get in touch. Bad customer service for us. We sailed the last time. Well, we hardly sailed.

This was my worst vacation. We bare boated and the boat broke down, for 5 days we were stuck in a marina, while the boat was repaired and DYC has refused to do anything. these additional costs, we didn't plan for, and we lost a huge part of our vacation. before you book with them, try getting a hold of the base in the Bahamas, or a supervisor or someone who deals with complaints or refunds. Aside from sales/customer service (booking) you wont get past the iron curtain!

Horrendous Experience Dream Yacht Charters cancelled our holiday before the departure date due to Covid—19 lockdown in UK & Greece BUT then refused to return a single penny We lost the entire amount we paid - 100% of the holiday price They just ripped us off They are NOT ABTA either Do NOT use them under any circumstances

We lost one day of our charter due to our freshwater being pumped into the starboard engine bilge whose bilge pump was not working and consequently filled up with water , at one point we thought we were sinking ! We returned to base as we had no water and no way of keeping it in the tanks even if we could have refilled. In another incedent in a torrential downpour a fixed cabin window leaked and destroyed my laptop. The reply from DYC main office was less than helpful. The laptop destruction was our fault as we put it in the wrong place and the lost day was ignored. Be very carefull when dealing with the main office they seem only to want to dodge any issues which involve any sort of refund.

Booked and paid last May a cruise (cabin charter) in Corsica South for the w/c Aug 7 (2 cabins); two weeks before the start of the vacation (overall 2 weeks with trips to Paris and Bordeaux already booked), my cruise was cancelled for "overbooking". Despite several attempts to get an explanation, an excuse or a counteroffer, no one from both DYC Italy nor DYC.com replied so far (after a month). I'm very very disappointed for this, especially because I was a DYC client since years (5 cruises so far). While I want to thank Mondovela, the Italian DYC agency, for providing me with a backup solution in Sardinia, saving at least partially my summer holidays. P.N.

Hi Piero Thank you for your feedback. We are so sorry to hear about your issues booking with us. At the time your booking was made we were in the process of migrating our reservation system and your booking was received on our old system which resulted in an overbooking of the cruise. We were in touch with your broker and proposed alternative dates and destinations which unfortunately did not work. We are so pleased they found an alternative solution for you. We hope you will return to us so we can show you how our booking process has improved. Best wishes the Dream Yacht Charter team
After having the bad experience described in my post of 04/11/2022 (see below Title "Very bad experience") Dream Yacht Charter asked me filling the form bit.lydreamyacht I filled in the form on 20/11/2022 but I never got a reply... If no compensation is soon accepted, after discussion with a lawyer, I plan a legal action. The complaint will be located in France. I also propose sharing the practical information (submit of a complaint to the court, steps...) for French customers wishing running a legal complaint. Run, do not walk, away from these people. "Dream" Yacht Charter should be "Nightmare" Yacht Charter. We had the misfortune to give them a deposit for a charter in Tahiti before Covid hit. While other travel industry companies tried to be reasonable, DYC continually tried to squeeze us (like initially demanding full payment far in advance of our charter that never happened.) I understand Covid was hard for everyone, but the way these people jerked us around, changed the rules, made unreasonable demands, is just too much. Eventually my group decided we would rather lose our deposit rather than give these people another dollar of our money. You have been warned.

Dear Mike H, Thank you for your feedback. Hearing about your customer experience helps us understand where we need to improve. This year has been a challenge for many in the tourism industry. We adjusted our booking policy to try and make it as flexible as possible and we are sorry your booking was impacted. Best wishes, the Dream Yacht Charter team
First experience with DYW and first time with DY Croatia. Preparation and briefing with the service team in US was so thorough that when I got to Dubrovnik ACI Marina everything run smoothly. No hidden costs, everything very transparent. We took a skipper who happened to be top notch, a local celebrity. Trip was excellent in all respects but we had little wind and we had to motor most of the time: next time I will make sure we reserve minimum guaranteed winds of 15 knots LOL

The captain was great but the boat was in total disrepair. The generator never worked, the toilet either did not work or worked poorly, the furniture down below was taped together with yellow tape, the ladder was dangerous etc. For all the money we spent to rent this boat we should be treated better

Hi Elliot, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you experienced difficulties and that your experience fell below our usual high standards. We can see that your booking is via a broker and our team has been in contact with them to move your concerns forward. After looking at your booking, we can see the base team offered assistance swiftly to minimize disruption to your charter. We can see an offer about compensation has been sent. Best wishes, the Dream Yacht Charter team.
Had a great bareboat charter sailing around St John out of St Thomas with Dream Yacht Charter in a brand new Fountaine Pajot Lucia 40. Thanks to Dawn Fingers and the rest of the team for helping to accommodate our last minute booking. Highlights were Zozo’s at Caneel Bay and Cruz Bay. We’ve booked bareboat charter with Dream Yacht a number of times in the past and have they seem to be the best outfit in terms of boat maintenance and professionalism.

The upcoming southampton boat show will provide an opportunity for the dream yacht group to take stock of the last twelve months and a true post-covid year. the company has a full order book of boats, good prospects and is continuing its environmental commitment, a record season for yacht charter.
It has been a successful season for Dream Yacht Charter, with excellent sales on offerings including sailing holidays with or without a skipper, crewed yachts and cabin cruises. Occupancy rates approached 100% during the very high season in mid-June through to early September, continuing the positive trends prior to Covid. Along with higher occupancy rates, the business is seeing an extended season in the Mediterranean, their most popular location, with bookings starting much earlier, from April-May, and ending at the beginning of winter.
“This summer, holidaymakers are choosing to sail in record numbers, driven by a real need to get away from it all, to enjoy the peace and quiet, far from the worries of Covid or the crisis”, says founder Loïc Bonnet.
The best-selling destinations are Croatia, Greece and the West Indies. The season was a real success for exotic destinations as well, with very good booking levels, especially in Martinique, French Polynesia, and the Seychelles.
Thanks to this positive trend, the Group will generate more income with 850 boats in 2021 than with 1050 in 2019. This is indicative of the return of Dream Yacht Charter’s regular customer base, along with an influx of new enthusiasts, attracted by the ease of chartering with a skipper or full crew option. Skippered and crewed charters have increased by more than 20% in one year.
In order to continue this dynamic, Dream Yacht is launching more than 150 new boats for the coming season, of which nearly 80% are catamarans.
With the largest historical pre-booking of boat deliveries (monohulls and catamarans) from the largest French shipyards, Dream Yacht is in a central position in the market for unit acquisitions. 2022 has provided concrete evidence of commercial recovery, and forecasts for 2023 are already equivalent with over 160 boats to be sold by Dream Yacht Group next year.
Every boat marketed for charter via Dream Yacht Group or sold for private use comes from French shipyards, with 3/4 of the orders dedicated to Bali, Fountaine-Pajot and Lagoon brand catamarans, and 1/4 to monohulls. Deliveries are mainly planned for exotic destinations (including Seychelles, Thailand, and French Polynesia) and the United States, while 1/3 are destined for the Mediterranean.
Dream Yacht Charter UK franchise reacquired by the Dream Yacht Group : Partners for many years, the Dream Yacht UK franchise has recently returned to operate under the Dream Yacht parent company. With a range of exciting new projects being launched at Group level over the coming months, the UK team will join the USA and Europe teams in driving the UK market forward and will work closely in aligning strategy and promoting growth. The UK team remains the same and will participate at the Southampton Boat Show from 16 to 25 September.
New boat offers for 2023 : The catalogue of Dream Yacht offerings is growing with new models including Bali 4.4, Lagoon 51, and Excess 14 catamarans, as well as the Bali Catsmart.
Private ownership solutions : Several new programmes are being launched. The latest offering is the Shared Ownership access program. In response to strong customer demand, Dream Yacht is innovating and providing up-to-the-minute services that meet the expectations of the sharing economy.
Dream Yacht Sales, new Excess Catamarans dealer in the West Indies : Dream Yacht Sales, the boat sales division of the Dream Yacht Group, has become a dealer for Excess Catamarans, the Bénéteau Group’s cruising catamaran manufacturer and brand for the French West Indies. The Excess 14 was exhibited at the recent Cannes International Yachting Festival as a world premiere.

I am considering a charter management program to finance a boat. Does anyone have experience with Dream Yacht Charter? Two options seem to be interesting for me: Dream easy: 35% upfront + 25% balloon payment -> here the question is if I get at least a partial owner's title on the boat? (for the case of insolvency) Partnership: 55% upfront -> I suppose this one comes with a 1/1 title. I know this is not the king of investments but 40% value loss over 5 years seems realistic, probably this is the cheapest way to manage ~4weeks/year sailing time.
Hello, What are your goals for the boat - charter then sell or take over after? I just returned from a charter with DYC - people were great. Boat was a 2014 - in terrible shape. Mechanically sound and rigging was good but surface wise she was beat up and not taken care of. I have made a formal 'complaint ' with DYC and still waiting for their reply.

I was in the BVIs (3 weeks ago) and I was not the boat owner. A refit for her, based on my standards would be a complete interior renovation of cupboards/appliances/flooring/blinds, wiring and control assessment and replacement, deck refurbishing. Hull was scratched up but acceptable. Nav electronics were useless - kept shutting down. The lines were all different sizes/ material and conditon. I was told to run the generator 6-8 hours a day to keep everything charged and run the A/C - if this was done for the past 3 yrs. then those hours really build up on the 'mechanical' side. So cost could be expensive of for the latter component rebuild or replacement. Charter Company standards for such upkeep will vary I am certain. I have dealt with Horizon Yacht Charters as well and find them good. I am certain that there are others, but I would visit some boat shows and search the net for previous owner assessments of the companies before stepping in. Hope this helps.
Thanks! Owner assessments - especially helping negative feedback is extremely rare to find. Actually for DYC I found some positive feedback so far. I do not mind e.g. if the sails are worn off after 5 years or the engine needs a standard overhaul do to its hours. But groundings (remember Cheeky Rafiki!), hull/helm/rudder damage of any kind, dead electronics is unacceptable. I'd say I'd accept a "complete blue-water refit" budget of <10% of the boat price (that's pretty much done if you replace the sails, batteries & service the engine). As for Horizon: they offer Bavarias for monohull, no thanks...
just heard about a bigger Bavaria that was bought from charter company. owner had the yard do a complete refit and the generator had to be removed for overhaul. the only way out was through the side of the hull. built like a Motorhome.
overbored said: ... the only way out was through the side of the hull. built like a Motorhome. Click to expand...
I just finished up a charter with DYC - with the caveat that I have only done one charter with them, I would will probably never charter with them again, and would never put a boat into charter with them. We were on a 2015 Bali 4.3 - I was interested in it as a possible BVI charter. The boat was only two years old, but was not in great shape - all the cabinetry hardware was ready to be replaced - hinges completely rusted, faucets badly corroded. We also had a problem with cockroaches on the charter which resulted in them fogging the boat after we returned it. Our electronics had nothing but problems - wifi was almost worthless since we were unable to connect to it much of the time. The main chartplotter at the helm froze on a regular basis and had to be rebooted on a regular basis. The sails looked pretty knackered as well, but I don't have a frame of reference if that would be considered typical. The bottom of the boat was in bad need of cleaning - lots of green slime growing on the bottom. One of our heads blocked completely on the trip necessitating two trips out by the repair team and a complete tear down to fix. Fortunately the head belonged to the skipper that was on board, so we weren't the cause of it. The skipper that was on board was great but did make the comment that after about 2 years in charter the boats are about done - can't imagine what they look like after 5 years. I sent an email outlining my experience to DYC - have to yet to hear back. There are better charter companies out there then DYC - we are on our second charter with BVI Yacht Charters in a 2016 Helia and the difference is night and day - of course it is a newer boat, and is better designed boat, but I'm sure glad that we got the better yacht as our second charter rather than the first!
Be wary of the tax advantages associated with charter ownership. Most models I've seen show depreciation deductions, which are perfectly legal, but are also critical to make the numbers work. Since the boat will actually depreciate, that portion that represents actual reduction in value is truly a tax advantage. However, tax laws let you keep going, until your tax basis is zero. This means that when you ultimately sell the boat, you will pay taxes on whatever you sell her for. On the maintenance side, you want the best show available. Getting a hunk of junk back at the end just has to be a nightmare. It will, however, have accelerated rental wear and tear. It will never look like it was owner sailed.
