By Brody Patterson

Updated on January 14, 2023

Heesen Yachts Project Altea

The superyacht industry is a world that offers you luxurious adventures around the globe, from the United States, all the way to the UK, Netherlands, Germany, or the beautiful Italian coast. From the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean to the Mediterranean, these stunning yachts are built by highly skilled professionals, who provide you with nothing but the best craftsmanship.

As a potential yacht owner, you can get inspiration from any of these companies and choose what is best suited to your needs. There is so much to take into consideration, hence we compiled a detailed list of the 25 best yacht building companies in the world to help you out.

For example, you need to figure out first what size yacht you want, as they range from 30-50 feet vessels, all the way to the larger than 260 feet superyachts, and everything in between. Are Eco-friendly details important to you, or is cutting-edge technology and speed an absolute must to you?

We will do our best to cover all these points and more, so let’s start looking at the best yacht brands in the world right now.

Wally 118 WALLYPOWER Yacht

One of the best yacht brands in the 30-50’ range, Wally is an Italian company that specializes in fast motor yachts, but they’re also buiding gorgeous sailing vessels. For those of you who enjoy speed, you will be happy to hear that most of their yachts are made out of angular carbon composite and fiberglass, which enables you to blast through the waves.

Wally 165 WALLYPOWER

Not so much for leisurely cruising, their 36-meter superyacht has luxurious accommodations for up to six guests and six crew members. Its prowess is due to the three Vericor TF50 gas turbines, which have a total power output of 16,800 hp. With its 60 knots top speed, it is one of the fastest yachts in the world.

Riva Dolceriva yacht

Founded in 1842 on Lake Iseo of Italy, Riva quickly became a racing yacht legend, and it has upheld its reputation since. One of the best cruising yachts in the world in the 30-50 feet category, Riva offers sleek looks and impressive performance.

Aesthetic appeal along with classic Italian design makes this company one of the most sought after. The Italian shipyard develops innovative solutions like crafting hybrid engines and using nanotechnologies, which make the long-lasting coatings on their vessels have a lower impact on marine life.

The Best Yacht Charters You Can Book Around the World

Whether you’re looking for seven decks of entertainment, a family-friendly trip, or a diving-focused Caribbean voyage, you’ll find it here.

best yachting companies

There are few experiences as luxurious and awe-inspiring as a yacht charter . You can explore the world at your leisure, spend quality time with friends and family in an intimate setting, and the service is second to none. We've rounded up the most exceptional new yacht charters to book around the world. They're sure to inspire your next voyage, whether you want to relax along the Amalfi Coast or explore remote corners of the globe.

In the yachting world, Loon is known for an exceptional array of water toys — perhaps the best in her class. There's a FunAir inflatable slide that goes from the third deck straight into the ocean, an in-water pool, and a luxurious 43-foot Everglades tender. You can hop on paddleboards, sea kayaks, Waverunners, or a Seabob to explore nearby islands and coves.

The adventurous can try kite surfing or Lift e-Foil surfboards, which seems effortless when you watch the crew fly past, but is actually quite challenging. Loon is also a scuba diver's dream. The crew has several master divers and dive instructors who can take you out each morning, and they have all of the equipment you need onboard. They can also certify new divers during the trip.

The 180-foot yacht has a staggering 1,100 gross tons of living space, elegant design, and an amiable and attentive crew. Loon has two master staterooms, including a unique one on the upper deck. It has wraparound windows that offer unparalleled views of the surroundings. There are two salons, including one with recliners and a projector for movie night, plenty of spaces for dining alfresco, and an oversized infinity-edge Jacuzzi with a wet bar nearby. Fancy a workout? Loon has a treadmill, exercise bike, rowing machine, and free weights in the beach club. You'll be hard-pressed to find better workout views than this.

The crew is absolutely lovely and specializes in setting up unique experiences. You might have a pizza night on board, a barbecue on a private beach, or sundowners at the Instagram-famous Loon Bar. The crew will even take you to a picture-perfect sandbar and serve you drinks as you loll in the warm water.

Loon is available for charter from IYC in the Bahamas, Caribbean, and Bermuda during the winter months and in the Mediterranean in the summer months. Rates begin at $325,000 a week plus expenses.

Nansen Explorer

For the ultimate Antarctica adventure, you can't beat a voyage aboard Nansen Explorer . This former research vessel has all of the technical features needed to safely explore one of the world's most remote and dramatic landscapes and, thanks to a retrofit in 2021, an ultra-luxe interior design that wouldn't look out of place in St. Tropez. For exploration, Nansen Explorer has an Ice-1A classed 236-foot hull and an ice-experienced captain and bridge team, which means she can go deeper into the ice than other polar-classed superyachts. There's a heli-deck with onboard fueling capabilities, so you can see the vast landscape from the sky, or even go heli-skiing. There are plenty of toys that allow you to get up close and personal with wildlife and nature, including kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, dive equipment, and Zodiacs.

The interiors are so stylish, modern, and well-appointed that you'll forget you're in the middle of Antarctica rather than at a swanky hotel. The ship originally accommodated 60 passengers, but now it holds just 12 guests in seven cabins, including an owner's suite and a VIP suite. Each cabin has large windows that showcase the stunning vistas outside the ship. The sumptuous Scandanavian-inspired decor features shades of grey and white, which reflect the surrounding environment. There's a cozy lounge with a bar and a fireplace, perfect for warming up after an excursion to see penguins or whales.

Nansen Explorer is available for charter from Plan South America in Antarctica. Rates begin at $340,000 a week and are all-inclusive.

Yachting in French Polynesia is always a blissful experience, but Dardanella takes relaxation to the next level with bespoke, wellness-focused charters planned by onboard wellbeing facilitator Ayumi Gallagher. The wellness experience is all-encompassing, including fresh, detoxifying food, mindfulness workshops, yoga sessions, Pilates, meditation, and massages alongside traditional yacht activities, like diving, surfing, and tender safaris exploring the pristine waters and nature of French Polynesia. The captain is also a qualified marine biologist and ecologist, so he's the perfect person to show you this unique environment. There are two dive instructors, 12 sets of dive gear, a Nitrox dive compressor, and underwater photography equipment, so you can capture the beauty underwater, too. As an expedition yacht, Dardanella is well-suited for exploring remote destinations. The 121-foot yacht was refit in 2018 and has five luxurious cabins.

Dardanella is available for charter from 37south in French Polynesia. Rates begin at $100,000 a week plus expenses.

With seven decks, there's something for everyone aboard Wheels . This massive yet elegant yacht measures 249 feet, weighs almost 2,000 gross tons, and has lots of standout amenities including a spacious cinema for eight guests, a huge aquarium, massage room with a dedicated onboard masseuse, air-conditioned gym, and the main salon converts to a disco complete with lights and a smoke machine for those late-night dance parties. The split-level master suite has panoramic views, a study, and plenty of space, and there are four spacious guest suites on the main deck. Outside, there are plenty of relaxation areas, including sunpads, a hot tub, several dining areas and bars, and an enviable water sports area with two Jet Skis, four wave runners, three seabobs, a luxurious tender, and plenty more toys. The crew is very active and can teach you to wakeboard, kitesurf, sail the new Hobie cat catamaran, or scuba dive. They can also lead yoga and fitness classes.

Wheels is available for charter from Fraser Yachts in the Caribbean. Rates begin at $680,000 a week plus expenses.

Inside the €775,000-a-Week Superyacht That Was the Talk of Monaco Yacht Show

It's not uncommon for yacht charterers to "upgrade" their yachts year after year, chasing newer and bigger boats, which is makes Big Sky 's number of repeat bookings even more impressive. The 157-foot yacht has been a charter favorite since 2010, and she recently underwent a refit leaving her in immaculate condition. Big Sky can accommodate 10 guests in five staterooms, including a full-beam master that spans the width of the yacht, and there's plenty of room onboard to relax, including the main salon with large windows and a state-of-the-art TV system. The sky lounge is perfect for entertaining — it has an onyx bar and sliding windows that make you feel as if you are outside. Of course, if you do want to relax outdoors, there are three teak decks with space for dining and a large sundeck with a Jacuzzi, sun pads, couches, and a bar.

Big Sky is available for charter from Northrop & Johnson in the Bahamas. Rates begin at $180,000 a week plus expenses.

This glamorous new superyacht caused quite a stir when she debuted at the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2021. It's rare for a brand-new superyacht of this size to be available immediately for charter, so book your trip on Tatiana early. This 263-foot yacht can accommodate up to 12 guests, who are guaranteed impeccable service from the 20 crew members. She has a great selection of water accoutrements and a stunning design with a large amount of interior space, including a deck dedicated to the owner's suite. There are also two VIP staterooms, four double cabins, and a twin cabin. While away any rainy days in the movie room or shooting some pool. Tatiana also has a fabulous beach club with a large bathing platform, bar, and outdoor lounge.

Tatiana is available for charter from IYC in the Bahamas, Caribbean, and Bermuda during the winter months and in the Mediterranean in the summer months. Rates begin at €775,000 a week plus expenses.

Nour El Nil Meroe

Step back in time aboard Nour El Nil Meroe , a traditionally inspired Egyptian yacht full of modern amenities and luxurious design. Meroe is available for charter through Black Tomato, a top luxury travel company known for its expertly curated trips with exclusive experiences and a focus on local culture. Meroe is styled like a classic dahabiya boat, with authentic decor featuring whitewashed walls and linens alongside Parisian decor details. The VIP cabins have floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the Nile — we can't think of a more fabulous way to have breakfast in bed — while the other cabins have large windows. The shaded roof terrace has plenty of spots for lounging and dining alfresco, and there's a cheery indoor salon with red-and-white striped decor and cozy couches. On your charter, you'll slowly sail down the Nile River from Luxor to Aswan. You can charter just the yacht voyage or book the Ultimate Egypt trip , which includes adventures on land as well as the yacht charter (think: private tours of the pyramids, exploring temples, or taking a jeep safari around Siwa).

El Nil and the Ultimate Egypt trip can be booked through Black Tomato . Rates begin at $5,800 a person.

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection

One of 2022's most anticipated travel launches is the new The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection . While this is technically a small-ship cruise, every element has been designed to make you feel as if you are aboard a superyacht. The fleet will ultimately have three custom-built yachts, each with 149 suites. However, in 2022, the collection will launch with their first luxury vessel: Evrima . The suites all have private terraces, which isn't something you can expect aboard even the largest superyacht. And of course, the amenities are incredible. It has a beautiful spa, stunning marina terrace (set up like a yacht beach club), an infinity-edge pool, a large gym, and plenty of entertainment. The dining options are seemingly endless, including the main restaurant, the Evrima Room, S.E.A., which features a menu by acclaimed chef Sven Elverfeld of Aqua, Talaat Nam, a Southeast Asian spot, and several casual options.

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection's inaugural voyage is set for May 2022 and pricing is dependent on the itinerary. Learn more about the trips here .

The Best Luxury Yacht Builders in the World

With build times of around four years, it pays to know which shipbuilder is best for your dream superyacht.

By Kim Ayling

Black pearl - Hybrid superyacht

The superyacht industry has refound its mojo. Following the turbulence of the pandemic, yacht builders have resumed business as usual. Following recent growth in the UHNW population, order books remain full. New superyachts are rolling off the production line at an impressive rate of knots. If you’re considering a new superyacht now, you’ll be waiting over three years to take delivery of a ground-up build. Go with one of the leading yacht builders in the world, though, and it’ll be worth the wait.

This list of luxury yacht builders not only looks at what they have done in the past but also celebrates the stellar efforts they are making to reduce the environmental impact of their products. From lighter materials and onboard energy solutions to hybrid motors and marine conservation funding, these luxury yacht builders are not only leading the superyacht industry’s future but also protecting the oceans.

feadship project 817 superyacht

Recognized as a world leader in building pure custom yachts, Feadship has been in pursuit of building the perfect ship since its inception in 1949 – although the brand can trace its roots back another 100 years. With each new ship that Feadship builds, its team employs the most cutting-edge methods and materials available, which when paired with its unpromising attitude toward fulfilling its clients’ desires, promises to deliver some of the most technically advanced yachts in the world – including Project 817 , which has now been delivered as Viva.

Viva remains a groundbreaking yacht build, with Feadship revealing ambitious aims to keep her environmental impact as low as possible. The 308-ft eco-friendly yacht features an advanced hybrid propulsion system that allows the yacht to travel at 12 knots on diesel-electric power. The ship’s hull has been designed with efficiency as a priority to reduce the energy needed to travel through the water.

The Dutch company has locations throughout The Netherlands, with its headquarters and design and engineering center found in the northern city of Haarlem.

oceanco yacht builders esquel project on water

Dutch yacht building outfit Oceanco was initially founded in 1987 – but it was only in 2002 (when Oceanco found itself in the hands of new owners) that the switch was made to focusing on 260-foot plus superyachts, drawing on old-world Dutch craftsmanship to build the yachts of the future. The award-winning company prides itself on its design-led builds, and in addition to employing its own forward-thinking design team, works with industry-leader designers such as Andrew Winch, Terence Disdale and Sam Sorgiovanni.

Environmental awareness is core to each Oceanco project, with the aim of not only meeting but surpassing environmental legislation with each build. Even its largest yacht to date – the 394-foot Redentore, which is still under construction – is impressively efficient thanks to her hybrid propulsions system, which keeps fuel consumption to a minimum. Other noteworthy Oceanco’s builds are the striking three-masted Black Pearl , which is powered by a combination of wind power and electric propulsion motors, and one of its latest concepts, Esquel  – an advanced expedition vessel.

Most notably, Oceanco delivered the world’s largest sailing yacht, Koru , to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. The colossal 417-ft vessel cost a rumored $500m to build and was delivered in 2023. It has since been spotted in Italy, Florida and the South of France. Perhaps more impressive than the yacht itself is the support vessel (built by Damen Yachting), a 250-ft superyacht-in-its-own-right capable of carrying a wealth of billionaire toys including submersibles, helicopters and cars.

Electra Superyacht

Dutch luxury shipbuilder Heesen has received worldwide recognition for its engineering and design prowess since launching in 1978. Heesen proudly pioneers the use of aluminum, which is widely regarded as the premium yacht-building material thanks to its lightness owing to better efficiency. As well as full custom builds, Heesen offers a platform concept that features semi-custom yachts already under construction in order to dramatically cut down delivery waits, without compromising on quality.

One of Heesen’s most notable yachts is Alive, which was the first to feature the revolutionary Hull Vane technology (underwater foil) for greater efficiency and speed, resulting in up to 30% less fuel consumption than a regular yacht. Other celebrated Heesen’s builds are Home and Electra , delivered in 2017 and 2020 respectively, both of which were in the award-winning 5000 FHDF aluminum hybrid class and came as a result of Heesen’s strive to limit the environmental impact of yachting.

luminosity yacht benetti

Part of the Azimut-Benetti Group, Benetti Yachts can trace its shipbuilding heritage all the way back to 1873 when the Fratelli Benetti shipyard was founded in the Tuscan city of Viareggio – the center of classic Italian shipbuilding. While much has changed in Benetti’s near 150-year lifetime, its focus on building state-of-the-art yachts to impeccably high standards has not, cementing its status as one of the best luxury yacht builders in the world.

As concerns on the environmental impact of private yachts have grown over time, Benetti has adapted its methods accordingly, utilizing hybrid technology to ensure its ships are at the forefront of sustainability. For example, when the Luminosity was first delivered in 2019 she was hailed as one of the greenest superyachts on the sea. The 352-foot yacht features advanced diesel-electric hybrid power, with her powerful battery providing up to 12 silent and emission-free hours at anchor.

Of course, sustainability doesn’t come at the cost of style: the Luminosity features a stunningly designed interior courtesy of Zaniz Jakubowski, with full-length windows drawing the outside in, and tasteful nods to contemporary artists creating a true home away from home.

Europe rules the roost when it comes to the top yacht builders in the world – the fifth in our list hails from Germany, with eight yards dotted throughout the country including main sites in Bremen, Hamburg and Rensburg. As with most yacht building companies, Lürssen is family run having been first founded in 1870 by Friedrick Lürssen. Since then the company has developed an esteemed reputation as one of the best in the world, breaking many records along the way, including the longest yacht in the world with Azza in 2015, which measures 592 feet, and Flying Fox which is the largest superyacht available for charter.

Lürssen’s latest superyacht is the sizeable 465.5-foot Nord (previously called Project Opus). Nord transcends the typical design of a superyacht thanks to the work of Italian design studio Nuvolari-Lenard, which was responsible for the yacht’s striking interior and exterior.

As is becoming standard for leading yacht builders, Lürssen is acutely aware of the negative environmental impact of both building and owning yachts. It is taking appropriate action to help mitigate this damage, including providing significant funding to marine life charities and conservation projects and implementing pioneering technologies such as onboard compact silencers and hybrid motor concepts.

Royal Huisman

Ethereal yacht by royal huisman

With a history that dates back to 1884, Dutch shipyard Royal Huisman proudly stakes a claim as one of the oldest yacht builders in the world. While the company was originally founded to build modest wooden fishing boats, its operations have deftly grown with the times, and Royal Huisman is now responsible for some of the finest and most luxurious yachts cruising the ocean today.

Although best known for its stunning sailing yachts ( Sea Eagle II, Ethereal  and  Aquarius  are particular knock-outs) Royal Huisman has also successfully branched out into the world of motor yachts. Its most recent build is the 192-ft Phi,  which was delivered in 2021. This super-slick aluminum yacht has space for up to 12 guests and since her maiden voyage, has been seen cruising on the Thames through London’s financial district. An apt setting for a yacht of this caliber.

Damen Yachting

Damen Yachting, which falls under the umbrella of the wider Damen Shipyards Group, is another Dutch yacht builder dominating the world stage. Operating as Damen’s building division, Damen Yachting was only formed in its existing state in 2019 and is now responsible for the building of the famous Amels yachts, as well as the SeaXplorer expedition ships and yacht support vessels. Since moving its Amels building operations to Vlissingen in 2003, Damen Shipyards proudly boasts the largest superyacht facility in the Netherlands.

As a company of this magnitude, Damen Yachting naturally has some impressive builds under its belt, including the newest in the Limited Editions semi-custom range: the Amels 60 . Currently under construction with an estimated delivery of 2022, the 197-foot Amels 60  uses a fuel-efficient hybrid propulsions system to slash emissions, cut noise pollution and minimize fuel and maintenance costs.

Italian-born Sanlorenzo is continuously regarded as being among the best in class when it comes to yacht builders and has been the recipient of numerous awards in its near-65 year lifetime. Despite Sanlorenzo’s longevity and established status, it remains a truly boutique luxury yacht builder at heart. To ensure the attention to detail and high quality for which it is famous for, as well as securing exclusivity for its clients, Sanlorenzo is committed to working with a limited number of customers each year.

In true Italian style, the superyachts that leave Sanlorenzo’s main La Spezia shipyard transcend trends; instead, they exude classic style and authentic craftsmanship. Combined, this guarantees a truly timeless finish – of which the current flagship Attila is a perfect example. Sanlorenzo specializes in fiberglass, steel and aluminum, ensuring that each owner can select a material to befit their needs.

Despite dating back over a hundred years, German luxury yacht builder Nobiskrug always has one eye on the future with a steadfast commitment to innovation. Nobiskrug offers fully custom yacht builds, working directly with owners to fulfill their unique vision, as well as working on ship refits. The company operates out of world-class yacht-building facilities in the city of Rendsburg, which include a climate-controlled superyacht hall.

The need to strive for innovation extends to Nobiskrug’s environmental commitments, where it applies advanced technologies in order to limit the impact of its builds. For example, Artefact – which was first delivered in 2020 – was one of the first superyachts to be built in line with the IMO Tier III regulations (which focus on reducing emissions). Artefact uses onboard solar panels and a battery storage system to allow for a limited period of engineless operation, as well as adopting a waste-water recycling system.

Top 10 luxury yacht builders 2024

Nathan Bees

The design and build of a luxury yacht is a truly personal experience. Whether customising a design to be built, or striving to create a completely new concept altogether, superyacht owners will seek to work with a yacht builder that truly understands their vision, and can translate their dream design into a real vessel.

As Royal Huisman proudly states, “If you can dream it, we can build it!”

Those buying a new superyacht will therefore have many questions to ask themselves before settling on a suitable yacht builder and shipyard facility to carry out the project. Thankfully for these prospective owners, there are a number of luxury superyacht builders that have the ability to turn the biggest mega yacht dreams into reality.

Yachting Pages introduces the world’s top luxury yacht builders and their shipyard facilities , identifying some of the best superyachts along the way.

The best luxury superyacht builders in the world

1. lürssen, germany.

Based in Germany, Lürssen is one of the world's leading shipyards for large luxury yacht building, with a focus on excellence in custom-built superyachts. A family-owned shipyard for four generations, it claims the accolade of building the world’s first motor yacht back in 1886.

Responsible for building more than 13,000 vessels since 1875, Lürssen currently has eight shipyard facilities in Northern Germany, each specialising in a specific size of yacht ranging from 60 to 220 metres (197 to 722 feet) in length. Together these facilities offer 1,125,000 metres squared of space for new builds, as well as refit, repair and maintenance services.

Lürssen builds some of the largest luxury yachts in the world, including the iconic Azzam, the world’s current largest superyacht at 180 metres (590 feet) LOA.

This gave Benetti 2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th spots on the Top 10 Largest Superyachts Delivered in 2019 . As of 2024, Luminosity is for sale at €135,000,000 (c. $147,000,000).

With a focus on quality and innovation, Heesen has created many custom yachts with no two yachts the same. Founded in 1978, it was the first Dutch shipyard to employ aluminium for yacht hulls. In its 42 years, it has delivered more than 170 yachts, with aluminium, steel, displacement, semi-displacement and revolutionary fast displacement yachts making up its fleet. Its most famous vessels include the 65-metre (213-foot) Galatica Star, 70-metre (230-foot) Galatica Super Nova and 55-metre (180-foot) Serenity.

7. Nobiskrug, Germany

Having recently celebrated its 115 th anniversary, Nobiskrug began shipbuilding long before the term ‘superyacht’ was even coined. Drawing on its extensive experience in seagoing vessels, the shipyard turned to yacht building in 2000 with the completion of its inaugural superyacht project, the 92-metre (302-foot) Tatoosh. It has since delivered an impressive portfolio of innovative custom-built superyachts, pledging to work on a single project for a single client to build superyachts ready for the 22 nd century. A big statement of intent.

With two facilities in Northern Germany, the boatyard can currently build vessels ranging from 60 to 426 metres (197 to 1398 feet) in length. Over 1000 in-house employees work across the two sites, where they have developed and built numerous award-winning superyachts, including one of the industry’s most talked about vessels, 142-metre (466-foot) Sailing Yacht A.

2023 saw the launch of 70-metre (230-foot) Amoa. Her key numbers include a beam of 12.4 metres, a draft of 3.6 metres, and a volume of 1,900GT.

8. Oceanco, Netherlands

Oceanco specialises in building sophisticated custom yachts ranging from 80 to 140 metres (262 to 459 feet) in length. Offering a highly personal service to clients, Oceanco is positioned with state-of-the-art yacht building facilities in the Netherlands, and a design, sales and marketing office in Monaco.

The builder celebrated its first launch in 1992, and more than 30 years later its portfolio now includes well-known superyachts such as the 95-metre (311-foot) Indian Empress, 82-metre (269-foot) Alfa Nero, 88.5-metre (290-foot) Nirvana and 91.5-metre (300-foot) Equanimity.

9. Perini Navi, Italy

The Perini Navi Group is made up of four independent companies that operate in five specific markets: sailing yachts up to 60 metres (197 feet), large sailing yachts more than 60 metres, racing sailing yachts, fast cruising sailing yachts and Picchiotti motor yachts.

To date, the group has launched 58 sailing yachts and four motor yachts. Its track record for innovative sailing yachts has seen it set the standard for excellence in the sector, launching more yachts over 50 metres (164 feet) than any other builder. It's responsible for the iconic 88-metre (288-foot) three-masted schooner Maltese Falcon, which currently holds the title of the sixth largest sailing yacht in the world, and other award-winning sailing yachts, such as the 73-metre (239-foot) Nautilus, 70-metre (229-foot) Badis I and 64-metre (210-foot) Spirit Of The C’s.

10. Royal Huisman, Netherlands

Established in 1884, Royal Huisman is the only shipyard with two entries in the top 10 largest sailing yachts ever built. The 2020 launch of 81-metre (266-foot) Sea Eagle II was its tenth sailing yacht over 50 metres (164 feet) and its biggest yacht since 90-metre (295-foot) Athena in 2004, which was then the largest sailing yacht in the world. Despite being renowned for its luxury performance sailing yachts, Royal Huisman’s largest delivery in 2024 is expected to be the 65-metre (213-foot) Project 408, which will have a gross tonnage of 451GT.

10 Best Sailboat Brands (And Why)

10 Best Sailboat Brands | Life of Sailing

December 20, 2023

‍ There's no denying that sailors are certainly a passionate bunch. We’re so passionate about our boats that we always try going for the best sailboats. To make it a lot easier for you, here are the best sailboat brands.

Owning a sailboat is an indulgence that many of us only dream about but very few ever have the privilege of sailing the seas in what they can actually call their own.

While there's nothing wrong with renting a sailboat, the honor of owning one is certain what many sailors dream of.

With a perfectly crafted sailboat as company, gliding through the water, waves, and wind brings some sort of unmatched comfort and peace.

Add this to the fact that sailing takes you far away from the daily hustles and bustles that we've become accustomed to in our daily lives and you'll see why the life of sailing is very appealing to the masses.

But without a proper sailboat, all this fun and the good life of sailing are thrown out of the window.

Contrary to the widespread opinion, owning a sailboat isn't beyond anyone's reach. It's something that we can all achieve. But before getting into that, it's important to know some of the best sailboat brands.

The best sailboat brands will make your life as a sailor a lot easier and more fun. The best sailboat brands have, for decades if not centuries, mastered the art of woodworking. They've dedicated their skills and immense amount of their time to designing and manufacturing nothing but the best quality of sailboats in the industry.

So if you've been looking for the best sailboat brands from all over the world, you've come to the right place. We'll discuss the best of the best, something that will give you a perfect getaway from your normal life.

Table of contents

‍ Must-Have Features for Your Sailboat

Before highlighting the best sailboat brands, it would be appropriate to jog your mind a little with some of the features that must be available in your sailboat.

Choosing a sailboat can sometimes be a matter of compromises. In other words, it's sometimes sensible to accept that a sailboat cannot have all the features that you desire.

As such, it's all about going with a sailboat that has the features that matter to you most.

For this reason, let's look at the most basic features that can make the difference in both safety and comfort while improving your sailing experience.

A Safe and Comfortable Sailing Cockpit

You'll most definitely be spending a huge amount of time in the cockpit. Whether you're keeping watch, trimming sails , helming, or just enjoying the scenery, there's no better place to do all these than from the cockpit. That being said, a good cockpit should have the following.

  • Have a good depth for safety reasons and adequate drainage
  • Should give you a quick and easy access to jammers, cleats, and other important parts of the winch system
  • Should have a seat or seats that are about 35 cm high, 50 to 55 cm wide to provide ideal support
  • The seats should be adjustable to offer maximum comfort and allow you to change your position

GPS Chartplotter

Use a GPS Chartplotter once and your sailing will never be the same without it. It not only allows you to map a course but is also a great way of ensuring that your sailboat exactly follows that course. It also gives you constant updates on ocean conditions, weather conditions , and potential hazards such as deadly currents and sandbars.

A GPS Chartplotter is also an important safety device that can help you in some very critical situations while out there on the water.

For instance, it has a man-overboard button that is essentially meant to allow you to receive coordinates of the exact location should someone fall off your boat.

Electric Winch System

This is an amazing addition to any sailboat. It allows you to sheet a jib even in high and strong winds with a simple press of a button. It also gives you the chance of trimming a mainsail easily while still carry out other essential tasks in the sailboat.

An electric winch system can be of great importance, especially if you're short on crew. This is because it can free up some crew members to carry other important tasks. In other words, it can make duties that would otherwise require more crew members a lot easier.

More importantly, an electric winch system can maintain safety even in the roughest of conditions, thereby preventing you and your crew from getting injured. In essence, an electric winch system will make your sailing a lot safer, less stressful, and more enjoyable.

Reverse Osmosis Watermaker

This is a very valuable accessory, especially if you're going on long sea voyages. You can spend days on end without drinking clean and safe water.

As the name suggests, you can use this accessory to turn seawater into purified drinking water. It uses the reverse osmosis method that's essential not only in removing bacteria and parasites from the water but also in turning the water into purified and safe drinking water.

Even though this device is pricey, it's a great way to mitigate the over-reliance on huge water tanks. All you have to do is to ensure that it's properly maintained and you'll have an endless streak of safe drinking water no matter where you are.

Wide and Clutter-free Deck

While the deck is often an overlooked feature of a sailboat, it can be the difference between a great sailing experience and a stressful one. In essence, the deck of a sailboat should be wide enough and clutter-free.

This is significant as it can enable you to quickly access different parts of your sailboat with hindrance or getting tangled. As you can see, this is particularly important in improving safety and reducing stress.

With that in mind, make sure that the deck is organized in such a way that you can have easy access to sails, masts, and winches.

You should, therefore, avoid sailboats with decks that are designed in such a way that you have to climb on top of the cabin just to access these features. Needless to say, this can be quite unstable and very dangerous especially when conditions are rough.

Best performance yachts: Our pick of the top options

  • Toby Hodges
  • March 10, 2023

Toby Hodges takes a look at all the nominees and the winner of the performance yachts 2022 category in the European Yacht of the Year Awards

The European Yacht of the Year awards is the most thorough and impartial awards programme – the winners here are widely considered the best yachts of the year . As such the boats nominated by the jury in the performance yachts category can be considered the best of the best.

This year’s shortlist had the full range. From the more conventional definitive style of performance cruiser to the contemporary French interpretation of a lightweight planing cruiser – and even a new brand of sports  catamarans  for the thrill seekers.

Three Italian pure performance yachts and two very different yachts built in Slovenia made for a varied and exciting Performance Yachts category.

Best performance yachts

Winner best performance yachts 2023 – beneteau first 36.

Where once we could assume a cruiser-racer was a fairly standard format design, over the last decade it’s been much more the sexy, perormance yachts the Italian yards specialise in. But as French yards like Pogo and JPK have proven, there’s growing enthusiasm for lightweight planing yachts – and the First 36 is the first real production yacht in that spirit.

Here’s a yacht that puts the focus firmly back into sailing. The First 36 has been kept inviting and approachable – unlike many yachts that can plane, the look is modest, not aggressive. It’s uncomplicated, unfussy and the result is a pleasure for all to sail. It’s more about what you can’t see, the design and engineering, which should ensure longterm demand.

The small, fiddly heads compartment and lack of tiller options are perhaps the only real detraction from an otherwise brilliant collaboration by Seascape and Beneteau, from concept to build quality.

It was their goal to keep this area of the market relevant and prove a mainstream brand can do it, rather than only niche specialist yards. To create a mass produced yacht at this weight and to this foam-cored quality and one that can bring so much fun is a feather in the cap of the First brand.

Grand Soleil 40

The Grand Soleil 40 is an archetypal Med cruiser-racer, and an absolute delight to sail – a feature I’ve learned that Matteo Polli designs tend to share (he also drew the Ecoracer). We sailed the race set up with ORC keel (an IRC version is available too) and six winches, an extended bowsprit and a taller mast. It was one of my most memorable trials of the season in 10-12 knots, with the deep and forward positioned rudder giving plenty of control and lovely direct steering.

The three cabin interior can have one or two heads and different galley options, the cabins are a good size with modest stowage, and it’s all tastefully styled by masters Nauta.

Italia yachts 12.98

At 5ft longer and from the board of Cossutti (who Polli once worked under), the Italia Yachts 12.98 is another cruiser-racer in the same grain as the GS40, but with a markedly different looking white interior. We sailed the ‘Bellissima’ cruising version, which 80% of customers have opted for.

Italia’s yard is now in Fano and its one-shot infused vinylester build looks impressive. However, the deck lacks some refinement and practical stowage, while the three cabin interior isn’t voluminous by today’s standards.

This is a slippery yacht that has a lovely, light feel on the single rudder – the interior styling will be the deal breaker for most.

Solaris Yachts on the other hand has perfected its recipe, tripling its yard size to cater to demand for its sexy Acebal-designed performance yachts.

The Solaris 50 we tested in 2015 and which won this award was arguably the turning point that propelled the brand’s popularity. The owner of the new 50 we tested previously had the original 50 and a 58 and confirms this replacement has nearly the same space as the 58, yet is faster, more powerful and stable than its predecessor (we easily matched 7-8 knot winds under gennaker).

It heels onto its chine and accelerates well, while twin rudders provide ample control. The design prioritises helming experience but the yard needs to come up with a better helm seat option. The interior is well executed, especially the spacious forward owner’s cabin.

The Elan E6 is a big 47-footer, high and beamy and one that leans more towards spirited cruising with generous accommodation over racing. That said, extensive options allow you to tailor it either way, including foam cored furniture and a taller carbon mast for those looking for extra oomph.

It’s a fine collaboration between Humphreys Yacht Design, Gurit, Pininfarina and Elan, while an impressive standard spec includes a carbon sprit and six winches.

The E6 is fun to sail at various angles and gives a nice, sporty feel on the helm – it likes to heel but has plenty of grip and tracks well.

The cockpit is deep and comfortable, with good optional protection and there’s ample deck stowage. A really smart three (or four) cabin interior shows a high standard of construction, finish and styling. It is bulky and you pay for the size in weight, but it looks good and Elan knows how to build a great boat for the price.

Best performance yachts 2022

Winner best performance yachts 2022 – jpk 39fc.

Along with fellow Brittany yard Pogo, JPK has redefined the modern performance cruiser: stiff, stable and efficient to the max. For the keen sailor who wants to get the utmost enjoyment out of hands-on cruising, the JPK 39 is a superb design (and to my eye, an appealing one too), while the yard has done a nice job with the vacuum-infused construction and interior fit-out. The two-cabin version we sailed had plenty of stowage too.

It looks different, behaves beautifully and stands up to its canvas, is designed to sail efficiently with a loaded displacement, and has a deck set-up to encourage you to trim it to your heart’s content. My only slight negative is the unnerving mess the cockpit can become as there are so many control lines.

This lightweight blast will best suit experienced sailors and those comfortable with short-handed sailing. And it guarantees smiles.

One such sports catamaran is the IC36, an exciting first offering from a new Czech brand that’s packed with fresh thinking. The first turbo version of this cruising catamaran (Independence) is built using a carbon fibre crossbeam, bowsprit, boards and rudders, epoxy hulls, plus a custom Pauger rotating mast, which all serve to keep weight below three tonnes.

It provided some spirited sailing, particularly when fetching at a measured pace of 10-13.5 knots with the code 0. The direct feel of tiller steering while seated in the low rotating bucket seats was a highlight.

The finish quality in the hulls is first class and there is somehow space for up to eight berths. The coachroof features a retractable bimini and removable vinyl side panels and solar panels, while the cockpit table, which includes an exterior galley, is also removable.

In fact the IC36 can be dismantled to 2.55m beam to make it legally trailable. It has so many options and ideas – too many perhaps – all reflected in the price.

Monohull enthusiasts will share our congratulations to J-Boats for its elegant new flagship. The J/45 won the hearts of the jury and made for a long drawn out decision against the JPK. In the end the two yachts will appeal to different sailors and tastes.

J has stayed true to its roots, yet still managed to bring a current, classy new offering. The unmistakable Alan Johnstone lines have been paired with a contemporary, warm European interior designed by Isabelle Racopeau, while much focus has been paid to the joinerwork and the invisible quality. We saw the two cabin version, which has an excellent technical cabin in place of the second aft cabin.

The J/45 is designed to still perform when loaded with cruising gear. True to J’s reputation, it was a witch upwind and could outpoint anything else during our trials. The compromise is that it won’t plane easily like a JPK or Pogo.

The Solaris 40 is another looker from Soto Acebal and the blue steel metallic hull colour of the test boat made the powerful hull shape really stand out.

We liked the recessed traveller, direct steering to the twin rudders, neat folding helm seats, clutches integrated into the coamings and the easy access to the side decks. However, the jury found the cockpit with its short benches and deck design a little too flat and minimalist.

The interior is smart and contemporary, again offered with two or three cabins with two heads it makes good use of the space.

One of the yachts I was looking forward to sailing most was the Pogo 44, and the only one shortlisted that I didn’t manage to! A collision with the photographer’s RIB shortly before my scheduled trial put it out of action.

However, my colleague Rupert Holmes did a full Pogo 44 test and report on it for Yachting World and describes the 44 as designed to thrill and unlike any other pure cruising yacht of its size. The stability from the beamy hull and deep lifting keel combines brilliantly with the ability to sail fast easily and in comfort. However some jury members didn’t like having to rely on an autopilot to use winches.

The interior is like a loft apartment, with so much natural light – it’s minimalist yet comfortable, spacious and practical for cruising.

The leading yacht charter companies

Boatbookings

Yacht charter companies offer a diverse array of seafaring vessels for your leisurely needs; from small, intimate sailboats to sprawling, luxurious mega yachts.

You can charter a motor yacht for a swift, contemporary journey or a classic sailing yacht for a more tranquil, wind-guided voyage.

Catamarans and gulets are also on offer, providing a more stable and spacious option for larger groups or family outings.

For the ultimate in luxury, some companies offer superyachts and mega yachts, replete with professional crews, gourmet catering, and high-end amenities; these yachts provide a truly opulent, bespoke experience on the water.

Each type of yacht has its own unique benefits and is tailored to different kinds of vacations – from adrenaline-fueled adventure trips to relaxed, sun-soaked getaways.

When comparing options, consider factors such as the size of your party, your preferred sailing experience, the level of luxury you desire, and, of course, your budget.

Remember, the world of yacht chartering is as vast as the ocean itself, offering endless possibilities for your perfect maritime excursion.

Yacht charter companies offer a luxurious escape on the water; however, there are a few pivotal factors to mull over when deciding which company to entrust with your maritime adventure.

Initially, consider the range and quality of their yacht fleet; does it offer variety in size, style, and age of vessels? An esteemed company should provide a well-maintained fleet, featuring both modern and classic yachts to cater to diverse taste.

Moreover, the company's reputation for customer service is crucial; read reviews and seek recommendations to gauge their credibility. Are their staff experienced, certified, and knowledgeable about the yachting industry?

Additionally, ponder over the destinations they cover. Do they offer the maritime route you covet, or the exotic locales you long to explore?

Considering these factors while comparing yacht charter companies will navigate you towards an informed decision, ensuring your yacht charter experience is an unrivaled one, brimming with luxury, comfort, and unforgettable memories.

Engaging the services of yacht charter companies can be a voyage of opulence; however, navigating through the sea of pricing structures can be a tad challenging.

To compare prices between different yacht charter companies, you'll want to engage in a bit of research; you should examine their websites, review their offers, and scrutinize their pricing details.

Keep in mind, prices are often influenced by factors such as type and size of the yacht, duration of charter, time of year, and included amenities; such as crew, meals, and other onboard services.

Taking a step further, it would be prudent to read reviews from reliable third-party sites; these often provide real customer feedback and can shed light on hidden costs or value for money.

Consider also contacting the companies directly for a quote; this allows for negotiation and clarification on what exactly is included in the price.

When comparing, remember to evaluate on a like-for-like basis, as the lowest price may not necessarily mean the best value; luxury, quality of service, and safety measures are all integral parts of the yacht charter experience.

With a thorough understanding of the space, you'll be equipped to make an informed decision.

Yacht charter companies, in essence, provide a comprehensive portfolio of services; all designed to elevate the cruising experience to unparalleled heights.

The charter fee, undoubtedly, forms the core of this marine adventure, encompassing a range of benefits. Predominantly, the charter fee covers the exclusive use of the yacht for a specified period, alongside a professional crew to navigate the vessel. Additionally, this fee often includes all necessary maintenance and operational costs, such as fuel, docking fees, and insurance.

However, the breadth of services offered by yacht charter companies can extend beyond these fundamental inclusions; hence, a discerning eye is necessary when comparing options. Many companies, in a bid to distinguish themselves, offer supplementary amenities such as on-board meals prepared by gourmet chefs, water sports equipment, and even bespoke itineraries. Therefore, while the charter fee generally covers the basic necessities for a luxurious sea voyage, the specifics can vary, creating a captivating panorama of choices within the yacht charter industry.

As a general rule of thumb, it's advisable to book a yacht charter around six to 12 months in advance; especially if you're planning to set sail during peak season, or if you have a specific yacht or destination in mind.

This gives you the best chance of securing your preferred vessel and itinerary, not to mention the pick of the best cabins.

However, don't be disheartened if you're making more spontaneous plans; many charter companies can accommodate last-minute bookings, though your choices may be somewhat limited.

Keep in mind, luxury yacht charters are high in demand, and availability dwindles precipitously as the departure date approaches.

Thus, early booking is not just an option; it's a strategic move to ensure a smooth, tailor-made yachting experience.

Yacht charter companies usually offer a diverse range of charter durations to cater to a wide variety of client preferences and needs; flexibility, after all, is the spice of a sumptuous yacht charter experience.

The typical charter duration, however, tends to hover around a week; seven days of sailing bliss is the industry norm. This timeframe offers a perfect balance; long enough to truly unwind and explore some idyllic destinations, yet not so extensive that it becomes burdensome for those with tight schedules.

On the other hand, savvy sailors seeking a quick maritime getaway often opt for a weekend charter, while the more adventurous sea-lovers may embark on a multi-week, or even a month-long charter.

As you navigate the sea of yacht charter companies, bear in mind that the duration of the charter is a flexible aspect; focus more on the company's reputation, the yacht's condition, and the included services to ensure your charter experience is smooth sailing.

Indeed, yacht charter companies often cater to an array of special occasions; weddings and corporate events certainly make the list. These companies provide a unique, luxurious setting that transforms your event into a memorable experience. Onboard, guests can relish breathtaking ocean views, exquisite dining, and top-notch service. Many charter companies offer customizable packages, allowing you to tailor the event to your specific needs; a flexibility that positions them as an attractive option for those seeking an unforgettable event backdrop.

When comparing yacht charter companies, consider factors such as the size and style of the yacht, the amenities offered, and the ability to customize your event. Some companies may even provide event planning services, making the organization of your function smoother. Though costs can vary, the exclusivity and sophistication provided by a yacht event are often deemed worthwhile; a sentiment echoed in numerous reviews. Remember, the best yacht charter company is one that aligns with your budget, event needs, and personal preferences.

Chartering a yacht typically necessitates specific qualifications and licenses; however, the exact requirements can vary significantly depending on the charter company and the location.

For bareboat charters, where you captain the yacht yourself, you're generally required to possess a maritime license or demonstrate equivalent experience; a resume detailing your boating history often suffices. Some countries, such as Greece and Croatia, mandate an International Certificate of Competence (ICC).

On the other hand, crewed charters, where a professional crew handles navigation and operation, don't usually require the charterer to have any specific qualifications or licenses; you simply enjoy the luxury experience.

The yacht charter industry is diverse and multifaceted, so it's crucial to research and comprehend the specific requirements before embarking on your marine adventure. Comparing and reviewing different charter companies can provide invaluable insights to help you navigate this unique terrain.

Selecting a reliable and reputable yacht charter company demands an investment of time and due diligence; a blend of meticulous online research and candid client testimonials.

Start by exploring online reviews and ratings; they're an invaluable yardstick of customer satisfaction. Look for companies with a strong online presence, as this often correlates with professionalism and reliability.

A reputable company will have a user-friendly website filled with essential information, including the range of yachts available, charter destinations, pricing details, and their safety protocols.

Moreover, a trustworthy yacht charter company will not shy away from showcasing their credentials; proof of licensing, insurance, and membership of professional boating associations are all indicators of a credible operation.

Also, consider their level of customer service; prompt responses, willingness to answer queries, and flexibility in accommodating specific requests can speak volumes about their commitment to client satisfaction.

Lastly, seek recommendations from seasoned sailors or yacht enthusiasts; their hands-on experiences might provide insights that are not readily available online.

Remember, the key to a memorable yacht charter experience lies in choosing a company that combines quality, safety, and customer-friendly service.

Yacht charter companies typically offer, or indeed necessitate, a variety of insurance coverages to safeguard your seafaring experience; these typically include liability insurance, hull insurance, and insurance against personal accidents.

Liability insurance, an essential coverage, protects you against any potential claims arising from physical harm or property damage caused to third parties.

Hull insurance, on the other hand, covers potential damage to the yacht itself; an invaluable safeguard against the unpredictable whims of the ocean.

Personal accident insurance, while often optional, is highly recommended, providing coverage for any personal injuries sustained during your voyage.

However, it's critical to remember that the specific insurance provided or required can vary significantly between charter companies; so, a detailed comparison is crucial in making an informed decision.

Some companies may include comprehensive insurance within their charter package, while others might necessitate separate policies.

Therefore, always scrutinize the terms and conditions carefully, and consider seeking independent advice, to ensure you are adequately protected for your seafaring adventure.

This nuanced understanding of insurance in the yacht charter space will be invaluable in navigating your options.

When chartering a yacht, it's prudent to be aware of potential additional costs that might not be included in the base charter fee; these could subtly inflate the overall cost of your aquatic adventure.

Commonly, a charter fee covers only the yacht and its onboard crew, leaving a plethora of other expenses to be handled separately. These can include, but are not limited to, Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA) which covers fuel, food, beverages, and dockage fees; insurance for potential damages; crew gratuities; and sometimes even local taxes.

In the same vein, some yacht charter companies may offer an all-inclusive package, which might seem rather pricey at first glance; however, it often encapsulates many of these additional costs providing a more comprehensive service. Therefore, when comparing options, it's vital to not just compare the base charter fees, but also to scrutinize what each package includes. This will, undoubtedly, aid you in making a more informed decision when exploring the vast and luxurious world of yacht chartering.

Yacht charter companies typically offer a seamless and straightforward booking and payment procedure; a process that's designed to prioritize customer convenience.

Initially, customers generally browse through a variety of yachts available for charter; these vessels range from motor yachts to catamarans, each with unique features and amenities.

Once a suitable yacht has been selected, a booking request is made; often, this entails providing details such as the desired charter duration and the number of guests.

Upon approval of the reservation request, a charter agreement is typically drawn up, detailing terms and conditions, including the charter fee, cancellation policy, and any additional services requested.

Payment processes vary among companies, but most commonly, a deposit is required upfront, with the balance due closer to the charter date; payments are typically made via bank transfer or credit card.

It's indispensable to review and understand all aspects of the agreement; ensuring a smooth sailing experience.

Remember, comparing different yacht charter companies and their booking and payment methods can be beneficial in making an informed decision.

Locals pay respects to victims of yacht wreck in Italy

STORY: :: Residents leave flowers and pay tribute to the seven yacht

accident victims, including British tech tycoon Mike Lynch

:: August 25, 2024

:: Porticello, Italy

:: Fifteen people survived after the yacht

capsized during a storm off the coast of Sicily

Lynch's 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, was also among those who died when the family's 56-meter-long (184-foot) boat, the Bayesian, capsized during a fierce, pre-dawn storm on Monday off Porticello, near Palermo.

Fifteen people survived, including Lynch's wife, whose company owned the Bayesian, and the yacht's captain.

The sinking has puzzled naval marine experts who say a boat like the Bayesian, built by Italian high-end yacht manufacturer Perini, should have withstood the storm and in any case should not have sunk as quickly as it did.

Mike Lynch, 59, was one of the UK's best-known tech entrepreneurs and had invited friends to join him on the yacht to celebrate his acquittal in June in a U.S. fraud trial.

Best event venues in Moscow

What to do if you need to bring a pop star and accomodate 5 000 vivacious guests in a premise with great sounding? How to hold a car launch event at a high level? How to organize a private VIP party?

Every event is a small journey, which has its own goal. To avoid getting lost in the world map of Moscow event venues we made up a list of spots, which will meet the most unusual demands and help to organize your dream event.

best yachting companies

1. MIR event space

Building 2, 11 Tsetnoy Blvd

For awarding ceremonies and large gala dinners

One of the largest premium-class venues located in the center of Moscow within walking distance of the subway and comfortable access area. Up to 1200 people can be accommodated on 1500 sq. m. The optimal ratio of equipment quality, premise size and MIR location is a good solution for holding gala and live concert with a good budget and pretentious audience. Two levels of guest accommodation create the most comfortable conditions for observing the scene, which became the hall’s trademark. The large and convenient stage is equipped with a large LED screen, the opportunity for installing additional elements, high-quality light, sound and convenient dressing rooms. Taking into regard all the mentioned advantages, MIR profitably stands out among premium competitors and gained the reputation of the best place for running ceremonies with the participation of hosts and celebrities.

2. Izvestia Hall

5 Pushkin square

For live concerts and events with celebrities

Perhaps, the most literate venue of the heart of the capital from the perspective of technical facilities. It meets the demands of picky audience and that’s why enjoys popularity among the organizers of night events and ceremonies. Thanks to the form of a two-level amphitheater it provides the best scene overview. Venue is equipped with high-quality sounding and lighting, world renowned musicians highly appreciate it. And numerous digital awards prove once again that the central location has almost no competitors from the perspective of equipment level.

3. Main Stage

Building 33, 13 Sharikopodshipnikovskaya st.

For mass events and live events in industrial style

The largest event venue of Moscow with a bright industrial entourage and sound planning. 7 000 sq. m, 200 parking places, 12 incoming groups – these things will provide comfortable accommodation of 8 000 people. Lighting used on the site is dimmed, that’s why it doesn’t fit day conferences and business meetings. On the plus side, this is an optimal solution for big techno parties, global presentations and corporate parties for companies with large staff. It’s not easy to get here from the subway and search for the site, that’s why transfers for guests are a great advantage for an event at Main Stage.

4. Loft Hall

Building15, 26 Lenin Sloboda st.

For creative events

Spacious halls of a middle fragment for those who find it important not where, but how. The dozens of stylish premises connected together are ready to host from 20 to 1000 people. Loft design perfectly fits the format of an atmospheric private celebration, a creative presentation or a conference dedicated to ultramodern solutions. A site beloved by hipsters, designers and creative companies offers a great package of options, and also has its own parking, security service and equipment rental service.

5. Radisson Royal yacht

For those who want to impress foreign guests

7 snow-white panoramic yachts is a 100% target hit if you want to especially impress foreign guests. Fusion atmosphere, light standing buffets to the sound of purling water and jazz will perfectly highlight emotions. A cruise with a special atmosphere is the best opening or ending of any program. Soft daylight will complement a great river route by main sights, which are often bypassed during a business program. In the night guests switch attention to dramatic light decorations of historical Moscow. In winter, it’s snowing outside the windows of an ice-yacht. And in summer evenings, guests can wrap in a warm rug blanket and enjoy the night life from outside with a glass of Prosecco in their hand. Floating sites place from 100 to 300 guests, differ with excellent banquet service, fair equipment and provide complete privacy of your event.

best yachting companies

6. Imperator’syacht club

Building 1, 2 Bersenyevskaya quay

For private luxury events

A true exclusive, which had been closed for audience for many years. A building of the 19 th century, where the Russian imperial family once stayed after all. Loft space with antique furniture and a yacht pier for running exquisite private luxury events with a capacity to 250 people. 3 halls are comfortable for audience and fitted with decent equipment. Around – the best capital pubs and restaurants, boiling nightlife and the most fashionable city spaces, convenient parking. Summer is the most optimal season to run an event.

best yachting companies

7. Four Seasons

2 Okhotny ryad

Heavy luxury

A famous premium venue, which the most successful companies and private persons choose. In one or several halls – for expensive private events from 35 to 600 people or in the entire building – for running major international events. Its main advantage is a high level of service and safety of guests, luxury interiors and unique location. All halls are fitted with high-quality equipment and are serviced by a catering service. Almost all halls outlook Red Square or Tverskaya street. Challenges that event participants and organizers may face are risk to get stuck in a traffic jam, high cost and high popularity of the site.

8. Omega Rooftop

Building 1, 15 Tsetnoy Blvd

For an optimal combination of location and service quality

A great site on the roof of a stylish building outlooking Moscow with good catering and space, which easily transform according to any event. It accommodates to 400 people, is located within walking distance of the subway, provides event organizers and participants with spots in underground parking, security and cleaning. A site on Tsetnoy will fit fashionable formats best – lectures, film and fashion shows, stylish corporate parties. Financiers, consulters and representatives of creative professions traditionally choose this location.

best yachting companies

9. Music media Dome

Building 2, 5 Entuziast highway

For multimedia events

A high-quality capacious site, which can boast of the world’s largest projection area, a convenient scene, high-quality lighting and acoustic ceiling. 3000 potential guests will easily accommodate in the space, which is ideal for an exhibition, a technological presentation and a big corporate party. MMD is a wide spread for playing with space and a large staff of equipment. A weak spot of the site is remoteness from the subway, a small parking and inconvenient driveway, but you can’t find large and literate space with high-quality equipment in the center.

best yachting companies

10. Lumier Hall

Building 24, 36 Bolshaya Novodmitrovskaya st.

A creative vebue in the territory of the Flacon design space for non-banquet formats. Lumier Hall has no its own catering service, instead the format of a film show, a large multimedia presentation, a lecture or a private event with video immersion will fit the hall best. The space with a capacity of 450 people is equipped with 20 full HD screens and is ready to immerse guests into multimedia universe. 700 sq. m area allows mounting a scene and locating equipment, which are rented here. There are parking and security service in the Flacon territory.

11. O2 Lounge

3 Tverskaya st.

For VIP standing buffets and private events

A site under the roof of Ritz-Carlton hotel accommodates to 120 people with the most beneficial location, free parking and a high level of security. Luxuriant interiors and airy atmosphere together with views over the Kremlin attract world celebrities and organizers of premium events of mini format. Ritz-Carlton is particularly proud of the restaurant cuisine and special seafood supply, that’s why the best thing that you can do on the roof is an exquisite standing buffet and a small private event.

best yachting companies

12. Mercury Space

 For impressive business presentations

Almost 1000 sq. m of pure futurism on the 40 th floor of the most modern capital business space. The space is closed from free access and accommodates to 450 people and compactly fitted with the most basic equipment. A panoramic view Moscow City buildings are known for is great daylight and impressive view of the night city. The high rental cost pays off in spades with a long list of inclusive services, which will help you to focus on the main things. The only weak spot of the site is the lack of parking (5 parking slots do not count). The site of the future will become the optimal solution for holding business events, events for IT and fashion companies.

Italian Prosecutor Opens Manslaughter Probe in Lynch Yacht Sinking

Reuters

Termini Imerese, August 24, 2024. REUTERS/Louiza Vradi

TERMINI IMERESE, Italy (Reuters) -An Italian prosecutor has opened a manslaughter investigation into the deaths of British tech magnate Mike Lynch and six other people who were killed when a luxury yacht sank in stormy weather off Sicily this week.

The head of the public prosecutor's office of Termini Imerese, Ambrogio Cartosio, said that while the yacht had been hit by a very sudden meteorological event, it was "plausible" that crimes of multiple manslaughter and causing a shipwreck through negligence had been committed.

So far the investigation was not aimed at any individual person, he told a news conference.

Lynch's 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, was also among those who died when the family's 56-metre-long (184-foot) boat, the Bayesian, capsized during a fierce, pre-dawn storm on Monday off Porticello, near Palermo.

Fifteen people survived, including Lynch's wife, whose company owned the Bayesian, and the yacht's captain.

The disaster would be even more painful if the investigation showed it was caused "by behaviours that were not aligned to the responsibilities that everyone needs to take in shipping," Cartosio said.

The captain James Cutfield and the other survivors have been questioned this week by authorities. None of them have commented publicly on how the ship went down.

Raffaele Cammarano, another prosecutor speaking at the same news conference, said that when authorities questioned Cutfield he had been "extremely cooperative".

The sinking has puzzled naval marine experts who say a boat like the Bayesian, built by Italian high-end yacht manufacturer Perini, should have withstood the storm and in any case should not have sunk as quickly as it did.

Pulling the Bayesian out of the sea will help investigators determine what happened, but the operation is likely to be complex and costly. The wreck is lying apparently intact on its side at a depth of 50 metres (164 feet).

"It's in the interests of the owners and managers of the ship to salvage it," Cartosio said, adding "they have assured their full cooperation".

Giovanni Costantino, CEO of The Italian Sea Group, which owns Perini, told Reuters this week the shipwreck was the result of a string of "indescribable, unreasonable errors" made by the crew, and ruled out any design or construction failings.

Cammarano said the meteorological event that hit the vessel was most likely a "downburst", a very strong downward wind that is an intense but relatively frequent event at sea, rather than a water spout which involves rotating winds like a whirlwind or tornado.

He said that the passengers were all probably asleep at the time of the storm which was why they failed to escape.

Palermo's Coast Guard Chief Raffaele Macauda, who attended the press conference, said there was no specific ban for the ship to be anchored where it was struck by the storm, as weather bulletins at the time were not reporting a major storm alert for the wide area of the southwestern Tyrrhenian Sea.

SEARCH FOR BODIES

Cartosio did not rule out that someone could be put under investigation before the ship is salvaged, on the basis of other evidence.

He said there was no legal obligation for the captain, crew and passengers to remain in Italy but authorities expected them to cooperate with the probe.

The prosecutor said it had not been possible to carry out alcohol or drug tests on the survivors as they were in a state of shock and needed treatments for injuries.

In the yacht, the bodies of the dead were found in the cabins on the left-hand side of the boat, where the passengers may have tried to search for remaining bubbles of air, the head of Palermo's Fire Brigade, Girolamo Bentivoglio Fiandra, said during Saturday's news conference.

Divers scoured the submerged vessel all week to recover bodies, with Hannah Lynch's the last to be recovered on Friday. The five other dead passengers were recovered on Wednesday and Thursday, while the body of the only crew member who died, onboard chef Recaldo Thomas, was found on Monday.

Mike Lynch, 59, was one of the UK's best-known tech entrepreneurs and had invited friends to join him on the yacht to celebrate his acquittal in June in a U.S. fraud trial.

Among those who also died in the wreck were Lynch's lawyer Chris Morvillo and Jonathan Bloomer, a Morgan Stanley banker who had appeared as a character witness in the case on his behalf.
