KingFisher Boats traces its roots back to 1959. Today, we are the fastest growing brand of welded heavy-gauge vessels in North America. We design and hand-build 34 models distributed by 42 authorized friendly dealers located from Alaska to California to Newfoundland.
Every one of our heavy-gauge welded boat begins with Pre-Flex® hull technology—and it’s what makes them so impressive. The Pre-Flex® concept has been around since the dawn of architecture. It’s simple really—when you arch a structure towards the load, it strengthens the structure’s capability to handle the load. Part of the boats made in Canada directory.

Streamline Boats & Trailers Ltd. Maple Ridge, BC
|
Streamline Boats & Trailers custom designs and builds river, ocean and lake boats for recreational and commercial purposes using jet, sterndrive and outboard applications. Boats built by Streamline are designed and built to suit each customer’s individual needs and purposes. The construction used in the hull design incorporates Streamline’s own proprietary hydro-lift pad bottom and variable V deadrise, giving sharp entry for superior rough water ride and protection against pump cavitation. The Canadian made boats design tapers back to a shallow deadrise at the transom, which allows the boat to run in extreme shallow water. Streamline’s newly engineered hull gives boaters an all-water package: one multi-purpose boat, improved fuel efficiency, less water drag (meaning more speed), and less wear-and-tear on engine and pump parts. C&C Yachts was formed in 1969, when Canadian boat builders Belleville Marine Yard, Hinterhoeller Ltd. and Bruckmann Manufacturing joined forces with the design firm of Cuthbertson & Cassian Ltd. New capital was raised through a stock offering on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Although Ian Morch of Belleville Marine Yard was the first president, he resigned in 1971 taking the Belleville assets with him. George Hinterhoeller was then named president. Later, in an interview, Hinterhoeller states that he accepted this postition reluctantly. He resigned in 1973, and was replaced by Geroge Cuthbertson who continued in that role until 1981. C&C Yachts quickly established a reputation as a builder of high quality sailing yachts that were also successful on the race course. From it’s inception, as its first models were displayed at various boat shows in the US and Canada, the company sold as many boats as it could produce. In addition, a steep duty imposed by the Canadian government had also made them relatively affordable in the Canadian market. After weighing different options for expansion, the company decided to open a new plant in Rhode Island.(1976) In doing so, it benefited from very favorable financial terms offered by the Rhode Island Port Authority and Economic Development Corporation. In addition, plans were made to open another plant in Keil, Germany. This was also due to an offer of special, low interest loans. Throughout the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, C&C continued to develop and build new models, all of which were well received. Their revamped racing program brought the brand additional renown. But also during this time, a long, slow financial decline had begun. In 1976, George Hinterhoeller sold out and went back to boat building on his own. A plant at Kiel Germany closed in a few short years after incurring enormous losses. This and other factors were caused, in part, by a dramatic downward slide in the value of the American and Canadian dollar. An added factor was the gradual loss of the original personnel. The death of George Cassian in 1979, one of the driving forces of the company was a major loss. Geroge Cuthberson left the company in 1982. Finally, after the plant in Rhode Island closed, the last of the original partners, Eric Bruckman, head of the C&C custom shop, also moved on. By 1985, C&C yachts was left with a single plant at Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont. From this time on, a long series of changes of ownership and various financial manipulations were to take place. By 1990, no new ownership, or source of financing could be found and the company went into receivership. For the first time in its history, C&C failed to exhibit at the Toronto International Boat Show. In 1992, there was a temporary reprieve. C&C was sold to Hong Kong based shipping magnates, Anthony Koo and Frank Chow. The name was changed to C&C Yachts International. By 1994, the factory was operating to capacity building a new 51, the the Tripp designed IMS 45 as well as the SR range of sport boats, designed by Glenn Henderson and originally built in Florida. But then, in the same year, a fire broke out in the factory, completely destroying most of the tooling and the boats currently under construction. Insurance only provided a small portion of the losses. In 1996, the factory closed, and the land, tooling and trademark were sold. Just a year later, a joint venture was been formed with another defunct builder, Tartan Marine, to build a new line of C&C yachts. These new models included the C&C 99, 110, and 115 which were well received and sold relatively well. In September 2013, US Watercraft announced that it had bought the rights to the C&C brand from Tartan. US Watercraft entered receivership in July 2017 and ceased all operations by the summer of 2018.

While best known as rowing craft, they make wonderfully fun sailboats. We offer a couple of different sail plans, including the gaff jib and main rig shown here on a 26-foot loa Seine dory. Boats can also be outfitted for outboard or even inboard engines. Build Your Own BoatDreamed of building a boat yourself but aren’t sure you know enough to get started? Join us for one of our two-week dory courses. Working with our master builder, you and your classmates will construct a traditional Banks dory, beginning with raw lumber and culminating in a launch party and celebratory row. Check our news section for upcoming courses. While we definitely have a soft spot for dories, we also build a variety of other classic wooden boats, including sailing dinghies, power skiffs and handsome rowing tenders like this one made for the Schooner Martha Seabury. To see more small boat styles, check out Our Boats. More Classic Wooden BoatsBuilt by our parent company, Dawson Moreland and Associates, the 61-foot loa Martha Seabury was the first schooner to be launched on this historic waterfront in more than 30 years. But she’s just the beginning. A twin hull was built at the same time, and we hope there will be many more to come! Strength and QualityIt’s the defining feature of a Lunenburg-built Banks dory – the naturally-grown frames or what we dory builders call knees. Ours are cut from the lower trunk and roots of Hackmatack trees that are pulled from the muck of Nova Scotia swamps, then shaped to fit our boats, always following the grain for maximum strength. Restoring the Picton Castle’s Monomoy LongboatFeb 02, 2023 Building and Launching a Dream Dory at The Dory ShopOct 25, 2021 Keith Farrier still has a hard time believing that the dream boat he’d been wishing for since he was a child is almost ready to be launched in Lunenburg Harbour. Currently on her cradle at The Dory Shop yard in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Farrier’s beautiful Seine Dory with a cabin attracts a lot of attention from passersby and visitors as the final touches are being worked on. Now she’s ready for her big debut: to be launched in the Lunenburg Harbour on Thursday, October 28th before heading to her new home in Shediac, New Brunswick. “I say to my wife often, ‘I find it pretty hard to believe that I’m going to have a boat in the water soon, something I’ve always wanted my entire life’ and now it’s like my childhood dream is coming true,” said Farrier. “Who gets to say that? A lot of people don’t.” (To read the rest of the article, click READ MORE) Bluenose 100: "The Dory Story: A Conversation with Captain Daniel Moreland"Sep 09, 2021 The Bluenose 100 features The Dory Shop in their latest video! Watch the interview with Captain Daniel Moreland (Captain of the Picton Castle and owner of The Dory Shop) as he explains the significance of The Dory Shop in Lunenburg (building dories for schooners since 1917), the history of the schooner fishery and what that history means today! “Such an unassuming little shop, but very special…like you can feel the history of the place.” We build dories. Day in, day out, one after the other. In fact, we have been building the iconic Grand Banks dory and other traditional wooden rowboats for close to a century. Although we’ve added a few power tools, we’re proud to say our boats are still hand-built using tried-and-true construction methods, along with quality materials like solid oak transoms, pine and cedar planking, and our signature grown hackmatack frames, all held together with quality copper fastenings. We like it this way. It works and it will continue to work as long as the sea is salty and the ocean has waves. That doesn’t mean nothing ever changes here. These days, in addition to dories for rowing and sailing, power skiffs and runabouts, we’re also building big powerful schooners, perfect for coastal cruising or blue water adventures across the world’s oceans. Like our dories, they are traditionally-built; in this case, from a designer’s half model instead of the decades-old jigs and patterns from which we build our smaller boats, their edges worn smooth from the touch of so many craftsmen’s hands. Our boats are strong, durable, seaworthy, and beautiful in their simplicity. But the place we work is special too. The Dory Shop is located on the harbour shore of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada, a port renowned for shipbuilding and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We welcome you to drop by – the locals all do! – or better yet, to join us for one of our two-week dory building classes. For those unable to visit, we are happy to work with you to build the boat of your dreams and can assist you with all the shipping details. Here’s what our customers are saying …Just received my Journey boat. Rob with Journey is a pleasure to work with and makes the ordering process nice and easy. I changed my order a few times and even added things mid build and he was very accommodating and helps you get everything just how you want it. Kelly is a beaut and the guys did a killer job on the build. Picking up the 9-6 from the shop was a pain free process and Kelly and his guys give you a full run down on the do’s and dont’s of the boat and all the sweet features and accessories you’ve gotten. My only regret is not ordering one 5 years ago! Was our pleasure, Josh! Tight lines & thanks for supporting local! Journey 9.6 Prior to ordering a 9.6 Journey last Fall I checked out the reviews on the Journey Boat website. I liked what I saw online and decided to buy myself a new boat for my 74th birthday in May. Best decision I have made in my ‘old age’ so far… To provide some perspective I am a pretty hardcore stillwater flyfisherman who has owned a number of float tubes, kickboats, pontoon boats and few different prams over the past 50+ years. All of these watercraft have had pros and cons but, in reality, I am getting too darned old to fish in waders in cold water and unstable boats anymore. So, after fishing my boat pretty steady over the past month, here are the eight (8) things that impress me the most about my new boat : 1. The stability of this boat is simply amazing. I can string up my 10’ 3” Mystic in the boat with no problem and by this I mean I can move from the back of the boat to the front of the boat with no stability nor balance issues; 2. I ordered my boat with 4 Scotty side mounts and Scotty flush mounts in all four corners. I can sit in the center of the boat and reach everything I need. This means more fishing time when I am on the water; 3. The heavy rubber floor mat option is one I highly recommend. It is real rubber so is easy to roll up and clean after the day is over as well as easy on my legs AND flylines; 4. The infinite position seats are marvelous and easy to adjust just the way you want them; 5. The sounder /fish finder tree is a stroke of genius – it drops perfectly into one of the Scotty flush mounts and can be positioned so it is easy to see water depth from just about any position in the boat – very important when fishing chironomids; 6. The plug in rear wheel option is a real back saver for us old guys. When I have everything out of the boat I can plug in the rear wheels and move the boat easily up rough launch areas found in many of our back country lakes and get the boat to my truck and boat loader. This would be very difficult with a heavier boat or a boat without rear wheels; 7. The oar hangers keep the oars outside the boat and away from the flylines. The thumb screw fasteners on the hangers are brilliant and prevent the hangers from getting knocked into the water (and possibly lost?); and 8. I love the pyramid anchors, anchor holders and ropes – very easy to position the boat quickly and effortlessly. I ordered 15# anchors and they hold very well in windy conditions. The 50’ ropes are of good quality and are easy on the hands and pretty much tangle free. The flush anchor mounts work flawlessly. To date I have NO concerns with my 9.6. This is high praise for Rob and the team at Journey Boats in Kamloops! I feel great that I was able to buy an excellent boat that is made locally in Kamloops, B.C. Rob was easy to talk with and made the ordering process painless. He gave me some great suggestions regarding accessories and answered all the questions I put to him. When I drove to Kamloops to pick up my boat in early May I received a comprehensive orientation to the new boat and the accessories from the young fellow that had helped build my boat. What more could you ask for? Damn, that's one very specific, to the point (all 8 of them!), boat and accessories review that I'm sure will be helpful for folks thinking about a Journey! The pleasure was all mine, Gord! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave some feedback! Cheers to many more years of tight lines and good times out there! I picked up my 9-6 just over a year ago and have used it extensively so far. This boat is a dream. I got it with most of the accessories. I thought I was going to drive Rob nuts with all my hemming and hawing during the build specs, but he was just great to deal with, no pressure and I finally decided on what I wanted and have absolutely no regrets. I used to have a 10ft inflatable and it is amazing just how much more room there is in the Journey. Let alone the fact that the stability of this boat is fantastic. The quality is A1 and it really shows that this boat was designed and built by folks who actually fish. I use a Minnkota 50 lb thrust motor on it and it scoots along quite well. As a side note on my last trip I met up with a fellow who showed up with his brand new boat from one of your competitors. He looked over my Journey and said to me "Oh great, you have a Cadillac and I showed up with an Impala". Thanks to Rob and all the folks at Journey. I know that I certainly made the right choice! Hey Walt, thanks for stopping by to drop a few words on your experience with the Journey! And no worries on the time it took to finalize the build ... they are custom boats and we're happy to spend the time to make sure folks get exactly what they want/need! Heart of Surfing gives 120 people with special needs their own day on the waterAtlantic city senior lexi gormley to row this week for usa u-19 team in canada, mike mcgarry.
Lexi Gormley, second from right, poses with the other members of the U.S. women’s U-19 four with coxswain boat. Lexi Gormley kept an open mind when it came to her high school sports career. As a result, the Atlantic City High School senior is rowing in the red, white and blue of the United States this week. Gormley, 17, is a member of the U.S. women’s U-19 four with coxswain at the World U-19 championships in St. Catharines, Canada. Gormley was one of three New Jersey athletes to make the 41-member male and female USA team. “Being picked to be on the Junior National team has been my motivating factor in all the workouts,” Gormley said in a phone interview Saturday. “The early mornings, the late nights. This is something I knew I wanted to do. I wanted to represent my country.” How Gormley became a crew standout is a testament to being a multisport athlete. She arrived at Atlantic City High School as a basketball standout. The Margate resident started for the Vikings’ varsity team as a freshman. People are also reading…
“I was convinced that basketball was going to be the end game for me,” she said. “It took a lot of convincing from my basketball coach, my crew coach and my parents saying, ‘You have to at least give (crew) a shot.’” Crew is part of the culture for those who grow up on Absecon Island. Gormley’s father, Sean, rowed for Temple University and the Atlantic City Beach Patrol. “I kind of grew up knowing crew would be somewhere in my path,” she said. Which boats made The Press Girls Crew All-Stars?Varsity Eight Mainland Regional But before her freshman season at Atlantic City, Gormley’s rowing experience consisted solely of the Chicken Dippers Summer Rowing Program, an introductory course in Ventnor Heights. Atlantic City girls crew coach Sean Duffey made a deal with Gormley when she was a freshman. “I told her, ‘Give me two weeks. If you don’t like the sport, you can quit. I’ll still say hi to you in the hallway,’” Duffey said. “I knew once she came out to row she would love it.” There was a period of adjustment, however. “I did not like it at first, but I really found my groove,” Gormley said, “and figured ... out this is for me. What you put into the sport is what you get out of it. The hard work aspect really hooked me.” Gormley eventually became so enamored with crew that she gave up basketball after her sophomore season. “In the crew world, I was getting noticed (from college coaches),” she said. “There were some pretty big-name schools. I thought this is what I love to do, and if this is opening a door here, I totally want to pursue it.” Vikings girls basketball coach Jason Lantz supported Gormley’s decision to focus on crew, something that wouldn’t have happened at every South Jersey high school. “When you have an opportunity, especially a golden opportunity, you have to go after it,” Lantz said. “You’re talking about her being very good at basketball but extremely great at crew and rowing. She went from playing AAU basketball to trying out for a national team. There’s no comparison. Our goal is to get kids in school and give them the best opportunity to shine, and she’s shining above and beyond.” Thrills and chills: A look back at the 2023-24 high school sports year: Must WinThe 2023-24 high school sports season began last August in Ocean City with the Battle at the… Gormley impressed coaches and USA Rowing with her erg scores. She broke seven minutes for a 2K erg test as a 16-year-old. Under eight minutes is considered a good score. “That’s pretty phenomenal,” Duffey said. “Her size and her strength and her cardio really stand out. She’s got what it takes to go to the next level.” Two years ago, Gormley attended USA Rowing’s Olympic Development Program. Last year she attended the Selection Development Program. This summer she was one of 30 female rowers invited to the Selection Camp in Chula Vista, which is located outside San Diego. Gormley overcame the odds to make the team. She was competing against athletes from warm-weather states who are able to row year-round. The women’s four with coxswain competition at the World U-19 championships will begin Thursday. The final is scheduled for Sunday. “I’m so ecstatic to race,” Gormley said, “just because of all the double practices and hard work we’ve been putting in for the past month. I think we’ve found some really good speed and connection as a boat.” Crew has opened plenty of doors for Gormley. Not only will she compete for a world championship this weekend, but she has committed to row for Stanford University, where she plans to major in economics. Stanford won the 2023 NCAA Division I rowing championship and finished second last year. “I just feel like Stanford is really what I was looking for in a college,” she said. “The team energy really matched the energy I was looking for. My relationship with the coaches, overall team dynamic and everything the school had to offer. It was (the school) that wouldn’t leave my mind.” Atlantic City, EHT girls crews win at NationalsThe Atlantic City High School girls junior eight and the Egg Harbor Township girls lightweig… Many high school athletes limit themselves to one sport these days. Who knows what opportunities they miss by never even considering other sports? Gormley hasn’t looked back since the first day she picked up an oar. “Taking time away from basketball made me realize I wasn’t enjoying it the way I once did,” Gormley said. “It wasn’t the end game. But when I tried crew the whole dynamic of the sport matched my energy and was what I wanted to do. It was a no-brainer to pursue it, and it took me along its path.” Contact: 609-272-7209 [email protected] Twitter @ACPressMcGarry Can't get enough High School sports?
