South Locus Point Passenger Terminal
The South Locus Point passenger terminal is located a couple miles south of downtown Baltimore MD, just off of I-95 motorway. The pier is located in the middle of the industrial section of Baltimore. Not many hotels are located nearby the port entrance. The nearest hotel is Courtyard Baltimore Downtown/McHenry Row , only 4 minutes from the port.
Many cruise passengers stay in Downtown Baltimore , Inner Harbor , or Linthicum Heights ( more affordable hotels ) near the airport and Arundel mills mall.
Hotels with Free Cruise Shuttle?
Most hotels in the Downtown area do not offer a shuttle service to the cruise terminal. The nearest hotel is Courtyard Baltimore Downtown/McHenry Row from which you can walk to the cruise terminal. ( no shuttle needed ).
A few hotels offer a shuttle transfer (free within a package) or for a small fee. When staying in the Downtown/Inner Harbor area, a taxi would be +/-$15 to the cruise port.
When flying to Baltimore or driving and parking at the port you can opt to stay near the airport. The Residence Inn hotel is one of the best choices. See below.

The Port of Baltimore , more than 300 years old and officially named Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore, is one of the country’s largest cargo ports. Almost 100 covered and open overseas piers are located at the Port that can handle loading and discharging 173 ships at a time. Major cruise companies operating from the port include Royal Caribbean RCL and Carnival Cruises . Vessels depart year-round from the Port of Baltimore south to Florida , Bahama’s and the Caribbean. The small ships of American Cruise Lines cruise from Baltimore to the little towns of the Chesapeake Bay. Some sail down the east coast on the protected waters of the Intracoastal Waterway, or to the North and stop in Boston MA or Halifax Nova Scotia.
Long term secure parking is located within easy walking distance of the pier. Baltimore is rich in Maritime History and has long been a port city.
Where to Stay?
There is a hotel located near the Baltimore cruise terminal but many cruise passengers stay in Downtown Baltimore which includes the neighborhoods of Westside, Mount Vernon, City Centre, Inner Harbor, and Camden Yards. Stay in this area and nearby attractions include the Walters Art Museum, Peabody Institute and Harborplace. The port is a few miles away.
Inner Harbor area is home to many shops, a mall, the National Aquarium, and there are lots of things to do and see. It’s also home to many excellent restaurants and shops. The terminal is 10 minutes away.
If you have a car or looking for a reasonable priced overnight stay , hotels and motels in the the Linthicum Heights area (near the airport) , which is about 9 miles away (20 minutes) from the port, are less expensive. Many offer a free shuttle to the airport and pier. You can reach downtown from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport by taxi, shuttle or rail. Distance to downtown is 10 miles.

When you travel from the north follow I-95 South through the Ft. McHenry Tunnel, be sure to be in the right lane when going through the tunnel.
