We recently purchased a new Bavaria R40 from Cruising Yachts in San Diego, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations from start to finish. They took the time to understand our needs and preferences, guiding us through every step with patience and expertise. I would highly recommend IVT Yacht Sales if you are interested in buying or selling a boat. The owner, Ian Van Tuyl, is extremely professional, honest, creative, and responsive. Ian recently listed and sold my classic 35' Trawler. He marketed it expertly, starting with a beautiful video he produced that highlighted the unique features of the boat. Ian immediately received many calls from potential buyers all over the country and sold it in a short time to a highly qualified buyer. Throughout the listing, Ian constantly kept me apprised of updates and offers. He is extremely knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely enjoys helping buyers and sellers. If you're looking for a true professional, who has a nice, easy going nature, I sincerely recommend Ian, at IVT Sales.

Recently I came across a Catalina sailboat I was interested in, and noticed it was offered for sale by IVT Yacht / Sailboat broker company. I remember seeing a few of his YouTube videos a while back, and I remember those videos being helpful. I think he's mainly an over 40' luxury catamaran, Beneteau and Jeanneau specialist, and it looks like he had also represented a lot of 40' and 50' class Catalinas as well as high end powerboat luxury yachts. seeing a Yacht World listing, I emailed a quick question and got an email back within 15 minutes. Keep in mind, my inquiry was about a 30 foot class Hunter, so I was surprised to get quick attention on a sail boat that wasn't as expensive as some of this large sailboat listings. Ian was very cool, and was interested about helping me determine what monohull sailboat was best for me and the budget I was working with. And also if I needed financing to possibly get into a larger boat, if it was something I would consider. He also had great tips on what to consider in the low 30 foot class. All VERY helpful info. IVT Yacht Sales is based out of San Diego, but also has connections in Dana Point, Newport, Marina Del Ray, Long Beach, and Ventura and sent me info on prospective boats in those areas. He had also mentioned to consider boats in Alameda and said boat delivery to Southern California was a lot easier than I probably thought. Shortly after that, I found a 'for sale by owner' and had a few questions. Again, Ian got back to me within half an hour and was incredibly helpful. He mentioned that since I had already talked to the seller personally, he didn't think it was ethical to represent this particular offer as a Buyer's Agent. I didn't even know there was such a thing AS a Buyer's Agent for boats, but Ian gave me info and helped me understand everything. Long story short, the boat Ian got an offer an was sold. But I did receive a curtesy email about the pending offer as well as the pricing of that offer and a last chance to consider the boat. But the offer had been good and the boat owner accepted. Note: If you're looking for a boat, you can hire IVT Yacht Sales as a Buyer's Agent and they'll help you find the particular boat you're looking for. And the commission for the final sale is paid for by the seller. In this case the boat Listing Agent, and the Buyers Agent split the commission. which is paid for by the Seller. Ian also volunteered to help me with recommendations for Boat Surveying, and even recommended 3 separate surveys: a Hull Survey, a Rigging Survey, and even a Sailboat Engine Survey. I had thought you 'just get a survey'! I was also told and referred to a Maritime Title Search / Documentation company. Super helpful advice! Ian is a massive help, and I can't recommend IVT Yacht Sales & Cruising Yachts enough!!! THANKS for all the help Ian! I owe you a beer at the next boat show!

As a retired broker, I've seen a LOT of marinas and brokers of all sorts, not to mention dealing with some of the largest on the East Coast. Fair to say "I've seen the good and the bad." We're in the process of replacing our old Beneteau 35s5 and stopped by to check out a beautiful Jeanneau 379. First of all the boat was properly presented, clean and easy to board with everything stowed correctly. The broker knows his stuff, is friendly and patient. Even after it became clear that the boat is a bit beyond our budget, he still took time to discuss what might work for us. Good clean presentation, knowledge of product on display and he even has what have to be the best video tours of inventory on Youtube. You can't ask for better than that. So we have no idea if we'll buy a boat from IVT, but they're certainly a class outfit and worth looking into.

Ian was referred to us by a friend of ours. This guy does not disappoint. He grew up in the boating industry and held a myriad of jobs in the industry growing up, so this guy knows boats. After our first meeting and review of the boat we agreed upon list price that we both believed was a fair market price (not cheap). Within 3 days we had an offer. Ian managed everything and certainly knows how to close a deal. He was a pleasure to work with. Personally, I've been boating for over 40 years and have had as many boats, as I've had cars - Ian is perhaps the best Yachtbroker I've run across

I cannot say enough good things about Ian. I bought a boat not using a broker that he listed with the seller, and then simultaneously sold my boat through him to make the deal successful. This is very tricky--Ian had to walk a very tight line representing the sellers and buyers in multiple transactions and did so professionally and fairly. Ian always answered his phone/texts or got back to me shortly thereafter even on the weekends. I am high maintenance. I had countless comments, concerns and questions--he just rolled with it. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, ethical and detailed boat broker to buy or sell I HIGHLY recommend Ian.

This is a long overdue review. We bought a boat with the help of Ian Van Tuyl last spring. He was great then and a year later has continued to be great. Throughout the purchase he was fare and extremely knowledgeable. During the survey and sea trial he was able to fix more than one item personally. What he couldn't fix, he got addressed in under 2 days. This speaks to his own technical expertise and his network in the industry. Speaking of his network, any vendor/service provider he has referred us to has been spot on. Everyone has been a home run. You cannot surround yourself with quality professionals if are not one yourself. One of the things I find most interesting about Ian is how well he knows and lives the industry. He is perfectly comfortable at the yacht club and at the boat repair yard. Not many people are known and respected across such a wide spectrum of the boating world. Whether you are a first time or long time boat owner, Ian will meet you where you are and help you through the process. Buying or selling we will work with Ian again and again.

I found my experiences top notch with Ian. I absolutely can't speak more highly of Ian. As a new boater and first time boat buyer, Ian has been an exceptional broker and all-around great person. He's extremely communicative, trustworthy, and reasonable-- all the qualities I'd look for in a broker. If I could give Ian 6 stars, I would. Thanks Ian! In business, you go with your gut. Mine says Ian is a stand up guy, who has kept his word on everything he has said to date. I'm looking forward to him being my broker for life.

Ian knows what he is doing. If you haven't seen his videos on Youtube then I highly recommend you check them out before buying your next boat.
