The Adornate is an authentic schooner with an elegant and imposing design, built in 1961 as a fishing boat and transformed into a schooner in 1997.  In 2006 the ship was refurnished.  It is specially designed for luxury and seaborne adventure lovers.  In its time the ship ha sailed the entire Mediterranean Sea from the Balearic Islands, Barcelona and Valencia to the French Riviera, from Marseille to Monte Carlo.  Chartered in countries such as Italy, Croatia and Greece, the Adornate has also participated in the most important maritime events in the Mediterranean Sea, such as the Cannes Royal Classics and Voiles de Saint Tropez. The 45 m schooner is capable to sail the world seas while offering the convenient option to make use of its 380 hp diesel engine and its 17,000 litre fuel tanks.  The ship offers accommodation for 18 guests.

The story of the Adornate sailing ship

The Adornate is an authentic schooner with an elegant and imposing design, built in 1961 and refurbished in 2006. It is specially designed for all lovers of luxury and seaborne adventures. The ship has sailed the entire Mediterranean Sea, from the Balearic Islands, Barcelona and Valencia to the French Riviera, from Marseille to Monte Carlo. Chartered in its time in countries such as Italy, Croatia and Greece, the Adornate has also participated in the most important maritime events in the Mediterranean Sea, such as the Cannes Royal Classics, Voiles de Saint Tropez and most recently Lycamobile Mediterranean Tall Ships Regatta 2013 and also in the first international regatta in the Black Sea: SCF Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2014.

The Adornate participated in the Lycamobile Mediterranean Tall Ships Regatta 2013 between 21 September and 7 October 2013, a competition organised by the  Sail Training International Foundation , nominated for the Nobel Prize in 2007 for its work in promoting international friendship and understanding. The Adornate has thus become the first civil sailing ship to represent Romania in an International Tall Ships Regatta. Competing with 35 sailing ships from around the world, the sailing crew of the Adornate won 3 prizes in the competition: “Most impressive arrival in Barcelona” (trophy awarded by the Mayor of Barcelona), the trophy for longest distance sailed by a ship in its class to start the competition in Barcelona and “The Friendship Trophy & Flag”, the most important prize of the Regatta, organised by Sail Training International and awarded by the vote of all participating ships’ commanding officers, to the ship and crew having contributed most to international friendship and understanding during the competition.

The Adornate represented Romania in the SCF Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2014

The Adornate, the Vega Hotel’s sailing ship, an authentic schooner with a very elegant and imposing design, participated in the first sailing competition for full-rigged tall ships to take place exclusively on the Black Sea, between 30 April and 27 May 2014, SCF Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta .

The SCF Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta took place between 30 April and 27 May 2014 on the route Varna – Novorosiisk – Sochi – Constanta. At the end of the race, the entire participating fleet remained in Constanta between 24 and 27 May for the awards ceremony, during which time the ships were open to the public. The Regatta was organised in Romania by the Navigator Yacht Club in partnership with the Mircea cel Batran Naval Academy, the Maritime Ports Administration National Company and Constanta City Hall. Local sponsors: Vega Hotel, Mamaia , EximBank, Pepsi.

The Adornate’s Sail Plan

Adornate is a 2-masted schooner, with masts fore and aft, rigged with multiple sails placed at different angles of heel to the ship’s axis of symmetry, in order to best exploit the power of the wind. Turning manoeuvres are easily performed. The ship’s crew is comprised of well-trained professionals.

Accommodation

For long cruises the ship can accommodate 18 people , in 9 double cabins . For short cruises , the ship can accommodate up to 30 people . The Adornate is also available for hire as a private charter boat . We offer guidance for planning the event so that you may enjoy an unforgettable experience with your loved ones.

The Adornate’s Amenities

The 45-metre Adornate schooner can sail the world’s seas for 70 days , on average, thanks to its powerful 380 HP Cummins diesel engine and 17000 litre fuel tank. The ship has a cash bar providing refreshments and snacks. The interior of the sailing ship is built of hardwood and contains a large living room ideal for business meetings, private meetings, work and relaxation. Guests with a busy schedule can use the fully equipped office onboard the ship. The large deck of the sailing ship is specially designed to facilitate individuals’ enjoyment of moments of relaxation and pampering but also suits group activities. The Adornate offers high-quality services meeting, to the last detail, the expectations of the most demanding guests.
