The types of yachts vary as do your interest, and so it is the goal of Seattle Yacht Charter to align you with what suits you best.  Yacht sizes start at around 35’ and go up to well over 100’ to Mega Yacht status.  Many yachts are built to suit one main common interest such as sailing, fishing or power while most luxury yachts have an emphasis on luxury with a capability of scuba, fishing, and virtually any occasion.  As the yachts size increases, so does the amount of crew to maintain and navigate.  Vessels such as catamarans are typically wider which allows for more people when matching up against the length of a normal luxury yacht.  However, most catamarans are primarily for sailing which limits the amount of speed that can be produced, but recently many Luxury Catamarans charters in Seattle are customized with added power.  The one commonality with all yachts from Pacific Northwest Charters is they are all luxurious and beautiful exceeding what would be the Gold Standard in yachts, and we pride ourselves on providing the absolute best value for our service.  To find out more about our FLEET OF YACHTS  Click Here.

Booking a Charter

When planning a charter, it's important to know what type of boat you want. There are many types of boats available, so it's important to choose the right one for your needs. We offer a variety of vessels, ranging from small sailboats to large cruise ships. Our staff members will help you find the perfect yacht for your event. When working with our staff member via telephone or email, they will line you up with the best possible luxury vessel for the best possible value.  Once you are in agreement, our team will send you a paypal request for a deposit.  The request will outline all of the different details of your trip or event.  Once the deposit is paid, the vessel is held for your important event duration.  Depending on your specific requirements, the remainder is usually due at the time of your charter unless there are special requirements which may require the remainder of the due amount several days before the charter.

Seattle Harbor Sailing Tour

Come aboard for a day sail on our classic schooner! Our Harbor Sailing tour is family-friendly and is an excellent way to see the Seattle skyline, the beauty of the Puget Sound, even mountain views! We will depart from our dock at Pier 66 Bell Harbor Marina, then set our sails for a 2-hour cruise in the Puget Sound.

Prices start at $45 for adults / $35 for youth. Infants always sail for free!

Evening Colors Sunset Sail

An absolute “Seattle Must Do!” We will set the sails, turn off the engine, and relax as the cool sea breeze powers us through the Puget Sound. Private Charters

Our pride and joy, the Bay Lady is an 85 foot traditional gaff-rigged schooner that can accommodate up to 87 passengers per tour. She is a family friendly ship, equipped with two onboard bathrooms, an onboard drink and snack bar, plenty of outdoor seating, and a cannon to salute our magnificent city!

Meet the Crew

Captain John Bernard has a Master Captain License with the USCG and over 30 years experience as a sailor. He holds numerous patents for his work as an electrical engineer and inventor in Seattle and San Francisco. He has captained dozens of vessels up and down the west coast of the US as well as operated charter catamarans in Hawaii.

Matt is a technology leader by day, mariner by night. Matt has been sailing various small craft for over 20 years beginning in his teenage years on the east coast of the United States. By day he works in the software field developing autonomous vehicles.

Where to begin? Can’t speak enough kind words about Serafina. We took a sail out for our anniversary. We chose the overnight charter, and had the most magical 24hrs, with the kindest captains. The boat is by far one of the most well designed, beautiful boats we have EVER stepped foot on. We simply can’t say enough about the boat itself and the wonderful details that make it feel a step above the rest. It’s cozy, mod, but charming as well. The captains made our trip as well, they were knowledgeable, professional, but also made us feel right at home. I could go on, but it is safe to say we will absolutely be booking more charters with Serafina. She’s a one-of-a-kind PNW experience! If you’re thinking about booking, go for it! The most amazing 3 hours I've spent on the Puget Sound. Initially I was going to propose on Serafina but due to bad weather, we ended up rescheduling for a post-proposal sailing experience and photo session. Matt was a wonderful host and captain. He was extremely helpful with planning and sharing information about the weather and how the boat works and what to look forward to throughout the sailing experience. We booked Serafina for a photo shoot for fenders, as she’s an incredible beauty and oh so photogenic. It was a delight to work with owner Matt-he was very responsive, flexible and accommodating, which was so important for a weather-dependent outdoor shoot. The Seattle Sailing Club is nothing without our fleet of excellent sailboats moored right here on the Puget Sound. We’re confident that you’ll find our boats of the highest quality design and craftsmanship, and our professional maintenance staff keeps the boats in clean and fully functional order. The fleet is divided into three categories, based on the levels of Unlimited Day Sailing Memberships: the Northwest Club Fleet, and the Seattle J/Club Fleet. Olympic Club Members have access to the entire SSC fleet on a pay-per-use basis.

Northwest Club Fleet (<30 feet)

The Northwest Club is comprised of our fleet of under 30ft foot day sailors, club racers, and pocket cruisers. An ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising certification or “Small Boat Check-out” qualifies you to sail everything in this fleet.

Seattle summers are the best time to be out on the water, while the rest of the year is typically much colder and rainy. Keep in mind, the year-round water temperatures are a bit cooler than what most boaters might expect. The wet winter season runs from October through March, but does present some opportunities for anglers who participate in the winter salmon season (blackmouth) from January to the end of March.

‘Locking Through’ the Ballard Locks

Special Note: This adventure is for experienced boaters only—talk to your boat owner first or book with a professional captain! The Ballard (Hiram M. Chittenden) Locks are a popular Seattle attraction and a historic site operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that connect Salmon Bay to Shilshole Bay. As one of the busiest locking systems in the U.S., both the large and small lock chambers are open 24/7, and during the peak summer season can expect to be packed full of boaters—from sailors to powerboaters, large tug boats, and even kayaks.

Pro Tip : Keep an eye on the water levels, as the water can drop dramatically—almost three stories—at low tide. Likewise, the small lock chamber (100ft long and 26ft wide) is the easiest area to navigate, as you can tie up to the side walls to make your pass through.

Seattle is known worldwide for its  salmon fisheries , particularly in Puget Sound. Lake Union is located just north of downtown Seattle, which makes it one of the best places to enjoy what this city is most known for: Its local waters and natural spaces, and the culture. The center of the lake happens to be a busy seaplane takeoff and landing zone throughout the summer months, so be conscious of the zoned buoys and flashing lights. Boaters can also enjoy great views of the Space Needle, while history buffs can dock up to visit the Museum of History and Industry or the Center for Wooden Boats—both located in the southern end of the lake.

Moorage : The shores of Lake Union are lined with countless marinas and landings available long-term or short-term dockage. Check the northeastern and northwestern areas for the most options.

Wake zone : Yes - boaters should also familiarize themselves with Lake Union’s “#MindTheZone” campaign before navigating the area without a captain, and keep an eye out for flashing white buoys that designate the seaplane landing zones between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Pro Tips : On the north end of the lake, located minutes away from any moorage, explore an old Gas Works Park, where you can have a picnic in the grass, or just enjoy the view of seaplanes taking off and landing in Lake Union.

Hours : Be ready for crowded waterways on big holiday or event weekends, including “Opening Day” taking place in early May at the Montlake Cut, the Fourth of July, and the Seafair Weekend Festival.

Lake Washington

Located between Seattle and Bellevue, Lake Washington is the second largest natural lake in the state which connects to Puget Sound through Lake Union. Moorage : Short-term anchorage is available in Andrews Bay and marked by two buoys showing the letter “A” on the northwest and southwest corners. Other popular marinas include Lakewood Moorage and the North Lake Marina.

Wake zone : Yes - speed regulations of 7-knots (8-MPH) are in place within 100-yards of shore, docks, bridges or other fixed objects. In Andrews Bay, the speed limit is 3-knots. During the Seafair races, Lake Washington from the I-90 floating bridge to Seward park is a no-wake zone.

Pro Tips : Lake Washington’s 1.5 miles of shoreline is host to Seattle’s infamous Seafair Weekend Festival, taking place annually each August. Be sure to book your boat rentals early for this event, and get ready to enjoy the best on-water view of the airshow featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

Captain Mike was great. We had a problem of too many people saying yes to our son's birthday outing and we had to scramble to organize into two groups. We also had some iffy weather (rain in Seattle in August). But Captain Mike worked with us and the whole day turned out great and everyone had a great time. Highly recommend going out with Mike. One thing to be aware of though, it takes 30 mins to get out of the no-wake zone. So if you plan to do tubing make sure to factor in 60 mins (30 out back and 30 mins back) of travel time to get to the area where you can do the tubing.

Luxury 25-Foot Barletta Pontoon Boat in Renton, Washington

We had 10 friends on this pontoon and it was the best time! The captain kept us safe and allowed us to have the best itinerary around Lake Washington for the afternoon. Plenty of swimming time and hanging out in the sun with a great sound system. I highly recommend this captain and pontoon boat, and I hope to get back on it soon!!

Tour/Swim Lake Union & Lake Washington Seattle in this 24' 10 person Bowrider!

Curt was an awesome captain, super responsive and knowledgeable about all things Seattle. He took us to a nice spot to take photos on Lake Union then we went rafting on Lake Washington. We had so much fun rafting and swimming in the water! Curt also provided ice for the cooler and a nice speaker for us, towels, and life jackets. We celebrated our son's 17th birthday with a four hour water adventure with five people on Lake Washington and captain services provided by Tyler. The trip was worth every cent to have an expert guide who helped us make the most of our day waterskiing, wakeboarding, and tubing. It was such a treat to just show up, enjoy the beautiful weather in a lovely, clean boat with an expert there to help ensure a safe and fun experience. Tyler was super helpful and just a delightful guide for the day! He matched the speed, turns, and pace of each rider's adventure with their skill level to maximize the fun while keeping it safe. We will definitely rent here again!!

Tyler was amazing! He was extremely accommodating, patient, and most importantly- ensured that we had a fun time! He went out his way to get us a pump for our floats + even pumped the floats for us while we partied! He was extremely kind, professional, and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend!!!!

Daniel and his wife Lisa were so great! Daniel replies pretty promptly to messages and was very patient with all my questions. The route he took was also very great and relaxing. The Captain

Ben is pure joy and endless energy, plucking crab from the ocean one minute and regaling us with stories about his grandfather the next. You meet a lot of people in this life. Some of them are ships in the night. Some stick with you. Some you borrow a piece from to make your own little boat just a little bit better.” – Johnie Gall

Ben first fell in love with sailing as a boy, visiting the Atlantic Coast of Florida, where his grandfather had 19ft daysailer.  Years later, following a summer spent as crew on a competitive and successful racing yacht on Lake Michigan, the deal was sealed.  He was hooked and has spent a good part of his adult life trying to find his way onto boats.  As owner, caretaker and captain of the beautiful classic sailing yacht, TRUE, there is little he loves more than being on the water and sharing the experience with others.

Ben has over 5,000 miles of offshore sailing experience including passages up the West Coast of the US from San Diego to Seattle, the North Sea from Sweden to Orkney, Scotland, the North Atlantic from Key West to Bermuda and the Caribbean from Annapolis, Maryland to the British Virgin Islands. In addition, he has nearly a decade and many miles of experience sailing Puget Sound and the greater Salish Sea.

Ben is USCG licensed with a 50-ton Master Near Coastal, as well as CPR and Wilderness First Aid trained.

He is also a husband, father of two, and professional musician with the indie-folk band, St. Paul de Vence .

TRUE comes from the design desk of world-renowned naval architect, John Alden, who designed over 1000 boats, including the majestic schooners of the 1930s and 40s. His work, without question, represents great American boat design, and our 44-foot Pearson Countess Ketch, TRUE, is no exception.
