Die Ostsee - das schönste Segelrevier

Wenn wir von PCO aus Kiel irgendwo mit Mittelmeer-Seglern reden, kommt rasch das Thema "Segelrevier" auf. Da verwundert es uns dann doch stets, in welchem Ruf die Ostsee steht: "Nur was für sportliches Segeln, viel Wind, teilweise kühl, Wellen".

Das hat uns sehr erstaunt! Wir kennen die Ostsee anders: warm, lieblich, sanft und reizvoll!

Die Ostsee zählt zu den beliebtesten Regionen in Deutschland. Es kann ein Strandurlaub mit der Familie, ein Besuch der Hansestädte mit einem Stadtbummel, Segeln bei einer Yachtcharter Ostsee oder andere Aktivitäten rund um das Wasser sein – an der deutschen Ostsee gibt es unzählige Möglichkeiten zum Erleben und Genießen.

Das milde Klima sorgt für frische Luft und befreit die Atemwege. Dieses belegt auch die Bewertung des Umweltbundesamtes. Und es begeistern die vielen Sonnenstunden, die beste Voraussetzungen für die unterschiedlichsten Aktivitäten sind – direkt auf oder am Wasser und an Land.

Wir versuchen an dieser Stelle einmal, unser Revier für Unkundige darzustellen, nicht als wissenschaftliche Abhandlung, sondern als persönliche Sichtweise.

Die beste Segelzeit auf der Ostsee

Ab Mitte/Ende April haben wir hier oben an der Ostsee in der Regel gute Segelbedingungen. Den ersten richtigen Sonnenbrand und T-Shirt-Wetter gibt es häufig schon zu Ostern. Meist setzt sich ein Azorenhoch hier fest und wir leben 4 Wochen wie im Süden, abends mit Pullover, tags im Hemd.

Die Saison im Frühjahr beginnt hier üblicherweise mit dem 1. Mai. Da in dieser Zeit der Raps blüht, werden die Urlaubsfotos aus dieser Zeit die schönsten sein. Rechnen Sie im Mai mit Pulloverwetter, unterbrochen von starker Sonneneinstrahlung. Die Segler an unseren Küsten sind dann alle unterwegs, jedes Wochenende und die Brückentage führen dazu, dass die Ostsee voll mit weißen Segeln ist! Eine herrliche Zeit.

Das übliche gute Wetter in dieser Zeit, mit langsam steigenden Temperaturen, hält bis Mitte/Ende Juni durch. Dann kommt die Kieler Woche. Und da ist nicht ganz klar, ob die Statistik stimmt oder nicht, die Kieler behaupten, zur Kieler Woche sei "immer schlechtes Wetter". Das stimmt nicht. Es ist eine "gefühlte" Wahrheit.

Der Juli und der August sind auch bei uns eher heiß und trocken. Regen kommt vor, wie überall im Land, aber nicht häufig Sonnencreme bitte nicht vergessen.

Im September werden die Tage etwas kürzer, aber diese Segelzeit auf der Ostsee ist eine der schönsten: Es ist wenig los, tagsüber ist es warm, abends wird es dann manchmal Zeit, einen Pullover rauszukramen. Der Morgen in den Häfen hat im September seine besonderen Reize: Es liegen häufig von der Nacht noch einige Nebelschwaden in der Luft, der Tau setzt sich aufs Boot und es glitzert und funkelt, wenn die Sonne herauskommt. Eine wunderschöne Zeit für eine Yachtcharter in der Ostsee.

Der Altweibersommer setzt sich bei uns regelmäßig und fast sicher ab Mitte September durch und hält häufig bis Mitte Oktober!  Da gibt es dann den "Goldenen Oktober" mit lauen Winden und Sonnenschein.

Ab Mitte/Ende Oktober sollte man dann darauf gefasst sein, die Ostsee so zu erleben, wie sie Unkundige gern beschreiben: Stürmisch, nass und auch mal lausig kalt. Aber dieser Zustand ist selten von Dauer.  Immer abwechselnd mit einigen schönen Tagen, mit Rückseitenwetter. Ursache sind dann Tiefs aus dem Atlantik, die wie auf einer Perlenkette durchs Land und über die Ostsee ziehen.

Wie ist denn der Wind in der Ostsee?

Häufig aus westlichen Richtungen, bei Hochdruck aus Ost. Unsere Urlaubsfaustregel: In 14 Tagen wird es einen Tag geben, an denen der Wind stark ist. Nicht mehr.

Regen? Normal, nicht besonders viel, aber kommt natürlich vor.  Es ist hier nicht zu vergleichen mit der norwegischen Atlantikküste. Es hängt von der Großwetterlage ab.

Wassertemperatur Baden geht ab Ende Mai, allerdings ist das Wasser, zu der Zeit noch recht frisch. Ab Mitte Juni wird es angenehm, im Sommer bis 22 Grad sind keine Seltenheit

Häfen Fast nur schöne Häfen, gerade die dänische Inselwelt ist zauberhaft, mit den vielen Häfen. Daher sind die Ostsee-Segler eher abends im Hafen zu finden, nicht so sehr in Ankerbuchten. Ein Beiboot benötigt man auf einem Chartertörn in der Ostsee nicht unbedingt.

Strände Die Ostsee hat die (Meinung des Verfassers ...) schönsten Strände gleich nach der Bretagne. Weißer Sand und blaues Wasser ohne Steine. Schöner geht es kaum.

Also: keine Angst vor dem Segelrevier Ostsee. Es ist kein Schwerwettergebiet mit Dauerregen, eher das Gegenteil. Sie werden es lieben.
