What kind of wildlife can we see on a daytime yacht party?

Depending on the location and the time of year it is possible to see humpback whales, blue whales (summer to fall), grey whales (winter to spring), minke whales, bottlenose Dolphins, seals, sea lions, pelicans, and more.

Can I decorate the yacht for my boat party?

Guests are welcome to decorate the boats, as long as no damage is incurred with the decorations.

Where will my yacht charter party go?

All charters are based on customers wishes and their location departure.

Are children included in the guest count?

Yes, children are included in guest counts. Children below 13 year old are also required to wear life jackets on yachts.

What type of clothing should I wear on a yacht charter party?

Ideally guests should dress comfortably. Layers are advised as it can be windier and colder on the water than on land. Don´t forget your sunscreen and sunglasses.

What to wear to a boat party at night?

On an evening yacht charter party it is important to dress warmly. While the boats do have interiors that can keep deduce the wind factor an evening on the water can be chilly. So it is best to dress in warm layers.

Can I wear high heels to a party on a yacht?

High heels can be worn on some boats. On large party boats with 30+ guests it should be fine. It is not practical on the smaller boats as you will be walking around on different levels and materials and it can be dangerous. A better solution would be a pretty flat, a fancy sandal, or a short mule if you must.

What do I need to bring to a boat party?

For a boat party on a yacht it’s best to bring whatever will make you comfortable. Some guests like to bring an extra sweater, favorite snacks and drinks, sunscreen, sea sickness pills, and if it's a birthday party a gift for the host.

How soon in advance do I need to book a yacht for a party?

Our bookings are based on a first come first serve basis. To make sure your preferred date and time is available it's best to confirm the date and time as soon as possible.

How do I start a yacht party?

Gather everyone together and share a toast to get the party started. Then play the music and let everyone mingle around in the different corners of the boat. This will make a boat party come to life.

Am I expected to tip the captain and crew?

Gratuity is not included in the price and while not required it is always greatly appreciated. Any tips provided are split between the captain and crew.

Can I bring food and beverage aboard for a boat party?

Guests are welcome to bring food and beverage aboard.

Are refreshments included for a yacht party?

Refreshments are not included in the pricing. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drink.

Is there a place we can go to swim during a yacht party?

We can offer swimming from our San Pedro & Long Beach departure locations.

What is a bareboat charter?

- A bareboat charter is a vessel that is leased by the owner to another person (a “charterer”) for a period of time without a captain or crew; - A bareboat charter is a vessel that is considered a recreational vessel and may not be subject to Passenger Vessel inspections by the United States Coast Guard; - Once the charterer takes possession of the vessel, the charterer becomes entirely responsible for the safe navigation of the vessel and its passengers; - The owner of the vessel is generally not responsible for any collision, personal injuries, and wages for the crew - The charterer is responsible for the vessel’s crew, fuel, insurance, any maintenance and repairs, and any liability associated with use and possession of the vessel; - The charterer must have the option of selecting and paying crew and may discharge the master or any crew member without referral to the owner; - The owner may require general levels of proficiency for the crew that is retained based on federal statutes; and - Charterers and passengers are solely responsible for making sure they understand and agree to the terms of any bareboat charter agreement.

First, a true party boat needs to have copious seating and deck space, a decent swim platform, a fridge, a head compartment, and a serious sound system. This also increases the craft’s stability at anchor. The owner’s stateroom is beautifully fitted out with a berth, wardrobes and drawers, a dressing table, and TV. There’s also a two bed/double guest cabin and head and shower. To get the party really rolling, the X44 has an external hifi system and electric barbeque. With a maximum capacity of 20, the Explosion X44 is a great choice of party boat for those who seek both style and practicability.

Another Italian-built RIB, the SACS Strider 18 is the flagship model from the Milan boatyard and is a cut above the average boat next door. Coming in at 56 feet in length with a 17 foot beam, the Strider 18 offers a vast platform area with seating for up to 22 people. The Strider 18 doesn’t fall short in the performance department, either, with the option of 2,400 hp of diesel power and Arneson surface drives, powering the craft to 50-plus knots. However, the main focus is to maximize the usability of its deck space. The lavish and leather-trimmed helm station is protected from the elements by a rigid hard top with two exits which lead to the side decks. These feature three generously proportioned primary living areas; one in the cockpit, one at the stern, and one in the bow. The stern section has a two-part sunpad above the engine bay. This leads to the swim platform via a teak-lined walkway. The deep cockpit has a large, twin-table dining area framed by lavish wraparound seating on all sides, delivering a safe and well-appointed gathering area for 10 people. The bow deck has seating for a further eight with a combination of forward and inward facing benches. Below deck there are three key areas—a master cabin in the V of the bow, a head compartment, and a three-person guest cabin. While all this doesn’t come cheap, the Strider 18 is well worth considering when looking at the best party boats to buy.

Much of this performance is due to the stepped hull designed by offshore racer Mark Wilson. However, the Wider’s true party trick comes at the push of a “magic” button. Once at anchor, the craft’s gunwales can be opened up and the deck expanded by simply pressing the button, and 12 seconds later the deck space is transformed into 60 square feet of party playground. This transformed area can fulfill a variety of functions. The carbon-fiber dinette can be swiftly turned into a comfortable sundeck or stylish chaise lounge, and benefits from a fitted outdoor galley with a teppanyaki griddle and an icebox for chilling drinks and snacks. The versatile stern can be configured as a sunpad or stowage area, or even fitted with a fighting chair for big game fishing. A lightweight central carbon-fiber stairway leads to the bow and additional large sunpads. With a galley consisting of a sink, a single ceramic burner, and a countertop, plus a head featuring a crystal shower unit, glass sink, and carbon toilet, the Wider is fully equipped for most essential party ingredients. If you’re after a craft that can be fully customized to your needs, then the Wider 42 is well worth your consideration.

Proving the old adage that size isn’t everything, the Bayliner XR7 Boat is a modest, user-friendly deck boat that is deceptively spacious with a rated capacity of 16 people despite being just 25 feet long. This is achieved by Bayliner’s utilization of an expanded version of the cathedral-like “M-hull” hull design featured across the Element range. It uses a virtually taper-free beam of eight and a half feet which generates a remarkable amount of deck space. The spacious deck layout consists of plush upholstered lounges forward and aft, and deep freeboard to ensure partying guests’ safety and security. The XR7, which is no longer in production (but can be found on the used boat market) was offered with a choice of power options from the standard 150 hp Mercury FourStroke to the 200 hp Verado.

• Weather Optimal weather is a factor when considering the location. Weather varies depending on the season, so make sure you check your potential destination to make sure you’re not planning a trip during a stormy season! Or, if a little rain doesn’t bother you, opt for a vessel that has plenty of cabin/covered space for you and your guests.
• Party Theme Do you want to let loose and throw the party of the year? Or is your event to be more of a sophisticated evening with fine dining? Parties come in many shapes and forms and Boataffair can cater to each end of the spectrum.

Most of our private yachts are designed to legally carry a maximum of 12 people. This is because a yacht which carries more than 12 people it is considered a 'Passenger ship' and must comply with extensive SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) regulations.

Can you have more than 12 guests on a yacht?

At Boataffair, we do not typically rent out boats for more than 12 people. This is due to Boataffair’s focus on private, premier yachting.

We don't operate as a mass-market service; instead, we reserve our boats for boutique experiences for families, groups of friends, and couples. This is why most of our yachts are limited to 12 people or less.

Additionally, many of our motor yachts are designed to legally carry no more than 12 people, and often overnight stays allow for a maximum of 8-10 people.

You’ll want to keep in mind how many people can fit on a yacht before you start building your guest list. But don't worry, you can have wonderful birthday parties on our yachts with less than 12 people!

MAGA Boat Parade Dude Snaps At CNN Reporter: 'Nobody Gave Me S**t!'

A MAGA boat parade participant got salty at a CNN correspondent’s suggestion that he was well off and might not be so affected by economic concerns. (Watch the video below.)

Elle Reeve conducted the interviews with a Panama City, Florida, flotilla of Donald Trump supporters and shared them on host Anderson Cooper ’s show Wednesday.

Reeve asked one man what his most important issue was for the election. “The economy,” he replied. “Getting interest rates down, getting it where we can afford to live in America. Right now, it’s too expensive.”

Reeve then goaded him a bit.

“OK now, let me maybe ask like a slightly impolite question. ... If you can afford a boat, you’re not hurting so bad, right? Because a boat costs a lot of money and it’s a lot of upkeep.”

“Listen, nobody gave me shit!” he replied. “I earned everything that I’ve got. I’m retired military, retired power plant, and I am successful and retired with boats, jet skis because I did it right, and everybody has that chance. Whether they choose or not, that’s up to them.”

Reeve kept at it: “I would never try to take anything away from you in that way, but what I’m asking is groceries are probably a smaller part of your budget than, say, you know, someone who’s, like, a little worse off. I think it’s interesting that people who are a little bit more comfortable are still so concerned about the economy. Do you see what I’m saying?”

“Because I want my money to go further,” the MAGA man answered. “I want inflation to go down, I want interest rates to go back down. I want all that, but that covers everybody in the economy. Not just me, not just the poor, not just the rich. It covers everybody.”

Reeve noted general concerns from voters that their children won’t be able to afford a house or a car.

Not a problem for him, the guy said.

The Federal Reserve on Wednesday lowered interest rates by half a percentage point to about 4.9%.

“Recent indicators suggest that economic activity has continued to expand at a solid pace,” the Fed said in a statement . “Job gains have slowed, and the unemployment rate has moved up but remains low. Inflation has made further progress.”

Party spot? Video shows dozens of boats docked at new sandbar in Ohio River

Summer is coming to a close. But the weather is warmer than ever, so why not one last hurrah?

Dozens of docked boats, sitting alongside people partying, were spotted on a sandbar in the Ohio River on Sunday. The sandbar recently appeared across from Coldstream, located in southeastern Anderson Township, according to a social media post from licensed drone pilot and videographer Zak Kauth.

In the caption of the video, Kauth said the sandbar appeared as U.S. Army Corps of Engineers were completing maintenance dredging in the area.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration , dredging is when sediments and debris are removed from the bottom of a body of water. It is often done to maintain or increase "the depth of navigation channels, anchorages, or berthing areas to ensure the safe passage of boats and ships," per NOAA.

The Enquirer reached out to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for more information about the sandbar and is awaiting a response.

As of Wednesday, Sept. 18, the video had amassed over 18,000 views, 800 likes and 29 comments, with users questioning the cleanliness and safety of the river.

"I've never seen the Ohio River look that clean," one comment reads.

"Why does it look so clean??" another user wrote.

The riverfront of the Ohio River used to be home to popular sandy beaches, and the water, at one time, was relatively clean and clear, per Enquirer history columnist Jeff Seuss . From the early 1900s until the late 1920s, several privately owned beaches were open to the public in Bellevue and Dayton, Kentucky. 

But is it still safe to swim in the Ohio River?

The  Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission  says “yes and no.” Its website lists risks, including river currents, floating or submerged debris and commercial and recreational traffic, plus “possible human health risk due to water quality conditions,” such as bacteria and harmful algae bloom.

This fun and entertaining festival has been around since 2013.

Here's what to know about the Carolian Beach Dragon Boat Regatta.

What is the Carolina Beach Dragon Boat Regatta?

The Carolina Beach Dragon Boat Regatta, developed and managed by The Island Men (a local Pleasure Island nonprofit organization), is a competitive water-based athletic activity that is enjoyed worldwide.  The Carolina Beach Dragon Boat Regatta is a team-oriented fun event providing various levels of athletic prowess, which allows teams at all levels and age groups a level playing field/course to compete for top honors on historic Chinese Dragon Boats.

What's happening?

The two-day event starts Friday, Sept. 20 with a kickoff party at 6 p.m. at the Seawitch Cafe & Tiki Bar to announce the teams competing. There also will be music. The 11th annual Carolina Beach Dragon Boat Regatta will be held Saturday, Sept. 21 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Carolina Beach Yacht Basin, 100 Carl Winner Drive, Carolina Beach. Winners will be announced at 4 p.m.

Who participates in the regatta?

There are a wide range of teams that can participate, such as Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Club teams. There will be 16 local teams competing including last year's overall champion Wake and Bake Donuts. Raleigh, Lake James, Charlotte and Charleston, South Carolina, will also have teams in the field.

Is there a fee/registration?

Each team donates $800 to compete. Teams typically consists of 15 members ― 10 paddlers and one drummer, but also have up to four alternates to substitute. The Island Men provide the boats, life vests, paddles, coaches and a practice time, which focus the teams on water safety.

What does the event benefit?

The regatta primarily benefits the local nonprofit Ocean Cure, a group of people who provide services and special experiences to individuals with disabilities, as well as children’s civic, education and athletic activities supported by The Island Men.

Dozens of high schoolers rescued after boats capsize in Westport

Over two dozen high schoolers had to be rescued after two boats capsized on Long Island Sound in Westport Wednesday evening.

The Coast Guard said 27 high schoolers and two coaches were on board recreational rowing boats when they capsized after a sudden change in the weather.

Two people were taken to the hospital with hypothermia and everyone else was rescued, police said.

Police Chief Foti Koskinas said three rowing sculls and a chase boat launched from the Saugatuck Rowing Club near Compo Beach around 5 p.m. Each scull carried nine rowers between the ages of 14 to 18.

When the boats reached Cockenoe Island, the weather quickly changed, causing the rowers to turn back and head to shore. That's when 18 high schoolers were thrown into the water.

Four or five of the rowers swam to shore, and the others were brought back by emergency crews, according to police.

"Things could have gone very differently tonight, and they didn't because we have an excellent police department, fire department and EMS department here in Westport," First Selectwoman Jennifer Tooker said.

The temperature was 40 degrees and the water temp was 44 degrees, police said. The entire operation to get everyone out of the water took about 50 minutes.

One rower described the terrifying moments as he and others clung to a boat.

"It's just really cold. Yeah, I, I really couldn't talk," Davis Evans, of Westport, said. "I did a good job of keeping my cool, but it was really scary. I'm still kind of shaken up. It hasn't really sunk in yet."

Evans said the group from the Saugatuck Rowing Club had been taking part in their usual practice, but the calm waters quickly changed.

"It got windy and the waves are just crashing into our boat, and it was just filling up with water. It was really scary," Evans said.

The Westport Board of Education arranged for a bus to come to the rowing club to put the high schoolers on so they could warm up.

Police said a mass casualty incident was called and several area hospitals were told to be on alert. Koskinas described the scene as managed, but chaotic.

"As a mother of three athletes, I can't imagine the range of emotions these athletes and their families are feeling," Tooker said.

The first selectwoman went on to say that she hopes all of the families, kids and athletes are reunited and feeling safe and taken care of.

Koskinas said the police department plans to check routine procedures for the private rowing club. He said he wants to ensure an incident like this doesn't happen again.

"This was truly a team effort," Koskinas said. "This was a very serious incident with an incredibly good outcome, which we are very fortunate. And the families are fortunate."

Several emergency agencies responded to the scene to assist with the rescue, including the U.S. Coast Guard.

NBC Connecticut has reached out to the rowing club for a comment but has not yet heard back.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs arrested by federal agents in New York

Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested Monday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New York City said.

Combs was arrested at the Park Hyatt hotel on West 57th Street, a representative said. He was caught off-guard by the apprehension, according to a person familiar with the situation, who added he had been living at the hotel for several weeks.

U.S. Attorney Damian Williams confirmed in a statement that on Monday evening, federal agents arrested Combs based on a sealed indictment filed by the Southern District of New York.

“We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time,” Williams said.

Combs’ attorney Marc Agnifilo expressed disappointment in a statement. He said Combs, 54, had been cooperative with the investigation and “voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges.”

“Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community,” the statement said. “He is an imperfect person but he is not a criminal.”

“These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court,” it added.

It was not immediately clear on what charges Combs, the rapper-turned-music mogul, was arrested.

Combs has faced a wave of lawsuits — one as recent as last week — accusing him of sexual assault and misconduct since November, when former girlfriend Casandra Ventura sued him in federal court, accusing him of years of physical and sexual abuse.

Ventura, who is best known by her stage name, Cassie, was once signed to Combs’ Bad Boy record label. The two settled her lawsuit a day after it was filed, without disclosing the terms of the settlement. An attorney for Combs said the settlement was not an acknowledgment of wrongdoing. He previously denied the allegations.

Since then, a number of others have sued, in cluding Dawn Richard , who alleged that he groped and threatened her when he employed her from 2005 to 2012 and that she witnessed him brutally beat Ventura. Combs has vehemently denied the accusations in the lawsuits, saying they were “sickening allegations” from people looking for “a quick payday.”

But in May, after CNN released hotel video of Combs kicking, punching and throwing Ventura on the floor in a hallway in Los Angeles in 2016, he apologized in a video on Instagram in which he said that his behavior was “inexcusable” and that he had sought therapy. The video was later removed from his page.

Richard, who was a member of the girl group Danity Kane, which Combs formed on the MTV reality competition “Making the Band,” and later the group Diddy — Dirty Money, sued Combs last week.

An attorney said Combs was “shocked and disappointed” by Richard’s lawsuit, which, like Ventura’s complaint, depicts him as controlling and violent.

Ventura’s lawsuit included allegations of sex trafficking. She alleged that he frequently beat her, that he forced her to engage in sex acts with male prostitutes — drug-fueled encounters Combs referred to as “freak offs” and sometimes recorded — and that in 2018, as she was trying to end their relationship, he forced his way into her home and raped her.

Richard said in her suit that she attended “drug-fueled parties,” where guests were required to surrender their phones. She also said she witnessed what she believed were inebriated underage girls being sexually violated by Combs and his guests.

In March, federal investigators searched Combs’ homes in Miami and Los Angeles.

Investigators interviewed several people in relation to allegations of sex trafficking, sexual assault and the solicitation and distribution of illegal narcotics and firearms, a source familiar with the investigation told NBC News in March.

The warrant to search Combs’ properties came from the Southern District of New York, NBC News has reported. 

Combs, who has also gone by such names as Puffy, Puff Daddy and Love, founded Bad Boy in the early 1990s. He is regarded as a trailblazer of hip-hop, fashion and media, having created the Sean John clothing line and launched the Revolt TV channel, which he sold his stake in over the summer .

Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, a producer on Combs’ most recent album, alleged in a lawsuit in February that Combs made unwanted sexual contact, forced him to hire prostitutes and pressured him to participate in sex acts with them. Jones said he lived and traveled with Combs from September 2022 to November 2023, during which time he recorded hours of video and audio of Combs, his staff and others “engaging in serious illegal activity.”

His attorneys, Rodney S. Diggs and Tyrone Blackburn, who are also representing other Combs accusers, said Combs’ “long awaited arrest” was “an important step towards justice for all of Mr. Combs’ victims.”

“We leave the criminal aspect of this case in the hands of the people and justice system,” they said Monday night. “As for the civil cases, we await our time for the facts to reveal themselves and seek the justice our clients deserve. We also anticipate more victims coming forward. We knew this was coming. The evidence is very clear and it was only a matter of time.”

After the hotel video of Combs assaulting Ventura was published, Howard University cut ties with him . In June, the school rescinded an honorary degree it awarded him and disbanded a scholarship program in his name. The same month, Combs honored a request from New York Mayor Eric Adams and returned h is key to the city .

This month, Combs listed his home in Los Angeles that was raided in March for $61.5 million.
