Azimut’s New Flagship: Grande 44M

Italian builder Azimut Yachts presented details about its new flagship, the Grande 44M, at the recent Palm Beach International Boat Show.

Alberto Mancini is responsible for the concept and exterior styling, with interiors on the Grande 44M by m²atelier, which has offices in Milan, Italy and New York City. The m²atelier company is a new partner for the Azimut shipyard.

The Grande 44M is the largest model that Azimut Yachts has ever offered. Five hulls are already sold ahead of the yacht’s public debut, which is scheduled for the 2026 Cannes Yachting Festival.

“Grande 44M is proof that true innovation anticipates what owners really desire,” Marco Valle, Azimut-Benetti Group CEO, stated in a press release. “This is confirmed by the five units sold even before the official presentation of the project, all bought by Azimut owners who understand the shipyard’s values and wish to grow with us.”

Those values include more of a focus on sustainability. Azimut says the Grande 44M reduces carbon-dioxide emissions by 20 percent to 30 percent compared to traditional vessels of the same size. The Grande 44M’s hull platform is based on a Dual Mode hull. It also includes Hull Vane foil technology and the Mild Hybrid Plus Zero Emission Hotel Mode system.

The Dual Mode hull, which Azimut’s team developed in partnership with P.L. Ausonio Naval Architecture, has a bow section that is typical for fast displacement boats. From midships to the stern, there’s a chine commonly found on planing hulls. Azimut says this design allows for a considerable reduction in fuel consumption and emissions at every speed range.

As for the foil technology, the Grande 44M will mark its first installation on an Azimut Yacht. The builder worked with Hull Vane in the Netherlands to fit the carbon wing to the vessel’s stern. Azimut says this design element will suppress the stern wave and generate forward thrust, providing further reduction in overall drag as well as damping of pitch, sway and roll underway.

Azimut says the four-deck yacht also has a focus on livability. The upper deck can be outfitted as an owner’s deck because the helm station is up on the fourth deck. Other options include using the upper deck for dining or a media room.

Aft, the Grande 44M has a Sea View Terrace similar to the one on the Grande Trideck . The Grande 44M’s terrace incorporates a see-through pool.

Can any other Azimut models be ordered with a Zero Emission Hotel Mode system? Yes. It’s available on six models, allowing owners to stay at anchor for four to eight hours with the generators off. On the Grande 44M, this technology is combined with the Mild Hybrid Plus system, which includes electrification that Azimut developed with Asea Nautica.

Presented at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, Azimut’s new flagship – the Low Emission Yacht Grande 44M – has a concept and exterior styling by Alberto Mancini and interiors by m²atelier, working with the Shipyard for the first time. Five units sold in advance of the launch.

Azimut charts a course for the future and unveils the project of the  new fleet flagship  –  Grande 44M  – at the Palm Beach International Boat Show. The largest model ever built by the Shipyard is also an expression of its mission to marry  technological innovation ,  visionary design  and a  focus on environmental sustainability .

Grande 44M amazes by offering something that doesn’t exist today: a superyacht with reduced CO2 emissions  that brings bold, flowing lines to a design with  four decks  rather than the traditional three, embracing and sculpting significant volumes. She’s a boat that offers a unique and unexpected onboard lifestyle for this segment. The stand-out feature? The Upper Deck, which can be converted into an  Owner’s Deck  with uninterrupted sea views both forward and astern.

The concept underpinning the innovative styling – created by Azimut in partnership with  Alberto Mancini  – is the decision to move the helm station to the fourth deck, freeing up the Upper Deck so that it can be transformed into an  Owner’s Deck featuring the master suite and a private terrace  offering spectacular views. Aft, Grande 44M reproposes the  Mezzanine Deck with Sea View Terrace  that was central to the success of Grande Trideck . On Grande 44M, this stage overlooking the sea is made even more unique by the  See Through Pool , with its plays on transparency that establish continuous contact with the water and generate reflections that give the beach club an even more magical feel.

The new layout means that architecture firm  m²atelier  – working with Azimut for the first time – could create an  interior design  that balances functionality and aesthetics, making the owners’ experience central and offering  versatile settings  to configure according to how they like to spend their time with family and friends.

The forward section of Grande 44M’s Upper Deck can be fitted out as a  media room  for guests or reserved for the owner, or alternatively as a  dining area with veranda  accommodating 12 people. In both cases, almost  two-meter-long windows on either side  provide open views outside, where a  lounge area in the bow  with a small firepit offers a cozy space from which to watch the sun set over the water. It’s a lifestyle aspired to by everyone who loves the sea.

Water is the key element in the narrative  told by m²atelier, capturing its essence and giving back fluidity, dynamism and reflections. m²atelier, a firm with an international reputation for creative projects in multiple sectors – from residences and hotels to retail and product design – brings as a distinctive signature for Azimut a  clear message , accented by refined, subtle, whispered details that seduce with a discreet simplicity completely free of affectation or overemphasis.

Grande 44M is not only a design and lifestyle masterpiece, but also a  highly advanced naval architecture  project and a new milestone in the green course charted by Azimut. The yacht is also the flagship of the Shipyard’s family of Low Emission Yachts, models that offer a  reduction of between 20 and 30% in emissions  compared to more traditional naval architectures of the same size. The innovative naval platform of Grande 44M is based on a  Dual Mode hull, the introduction of the Hull Vane® foil technology  and the  Mild Hybrid Plus Zero Emission Hotel Mode system .

The  Dual Mode hull , developed in partnership by  P.L.  Ausonio Naval Architecture  and the Azimut R&D department, represents the  union of   two types of conventional hull : the bow section is typical for fast displacement boats, while the part from midships to the stern has a chine commonly found on planing hulls. This results in a hull that allows a considerable reduction in fuel consumption and emissions at every speed range.

The  foil technology  is installed for the first time on an Azimut yacht thanks to the collaboration between Hull Vane, Dutch company global leader in the design of advanced hydrodynamic solutions, and the Azimut|Benetti Group R&D Department which has gained a great experience in the design and production of carbon components. The Hull Vane® carbon wing fitted to the stern of Grande 44M is able to  suppress the stern wave and generate forward thrust , providing further reduction in overall drag as well as damping of pitch, sway, and roll in navigation.

The ability to combine  onboard comfort with a focus on environmental sustainability  is a stand-out feature of the designs developed by Azimut, which now already offers six models that can be fitted with a  Zero Emission Hotel Mode  system, making it possible to stay at anchor for from 4 to 8 hours with the generators off. On Grande 44M this technology achieves maximum efficiency in combination with the  Mild Hybrid Plus  system, a new level of electrification developed by Azimut|Benetti Group R&D in partnership with Asea Nautica.

The Mild Hybrid Plus Zero Emission Hotel Mode system is the only solution today that makes it possible to  cruise with the generators off and all loads connected , as well as producing a surplus of energy used to recharge the battery pack.

Grande 44M will be presented to the public at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2026.

Benetti Class 44M, the new barrier-free flagship

A yacht that knows how to be “transparent”, with the elimination of all barriers between indoors and outdoors and every detail designed to have the least possible aesthetic and environmental impact. Benetti Class 44M is the new flagship of the historic Italian yacht builder, with interior and exterior design by Giorgio Maria Cassetta, capable of being somewhere to live in rather than a simple object to show off.

The new 44-meter motor yacht impresses with its clean and essential lines, establishing itself as an immediate object of desire for owners looking for unique boats to enjoy their leisure time aboard. After all, the Italian shipyard, founded back in 1873, has by now accustomed us to excellence in the construction of iconic and luxurious yachts, with a skilful use of raw materials and a sartorial design of finishes, which in the case of the Benetti Class 44M convey a feeling of informality and naturalness that can change the perception of space. The shipyard has achieved this result through the extensive use of sustainable materials such as FSC-certified wood – sourced from forests managed according to the strictest environmental standards – and also thanks to the endless transparent surfaces that let light flood into all the four decks on the yacht.

“This model increases the choice we offer our owners, who expect elegant and innovative new yachts from Benetti – says Benetti CCO Sebastiano Fanizza – The new Benetti Class 44M flagship is a gem of a yacht from every perspective, vaunting a spacious layout and satisfying every owner’s desire for absolute comfort and wellbeing, which are increasingly at the core of every new yacht project.” Designer Giorgio Maria Cassetta adds: “ We worked on an infinite number of details and, as a result, this boat’s interiors, are something absolutely new compared with what we’re used to seeing on a yacht this size – adds – All these details immediately not only convey an appealing sense of elegance, but also reveal the wonder of human skill and craftsmanship. The Benetti Class 44M is an incredibly complex and sophisticated place, but one that has a truly amazing ability to welcome people in.”

The Benetti Class 44M in detail

Benetti Class 44M is designed for long, safe cruises around the world thanks to the perfection of the layouts as well as to generous stowage capacity and meticulous functional research into every detail. In other words, an absolutely unique and timeless yacht.

As mentioned above, Benetti Class 44M has four decks that can be customised to match owners’ tastes, and the star of the show, as always, is natural light. The forward section of the Main Deck is home to the full-beam master cabin, which includes an office space, a generous wardrobe and a bathroom (also full-beam). Still on the main deck, the galley area and head are amidships, while the spectacular, spacious lounge offers direct views of the water thanks to the low-profile bulwarks.

In addition to the helm station and captain’s cabin, the Upper Deck offers the owner and guests a large interior living space that extends outdoors towards the stern and can accommodate a dining table for ten. The marvels of the Benetti Class 44M continue on the Sun Deck which provides over 102 square metres of space for dining, sunbathing or simply sipping a drink at the bar. The Lower Deck also contains four double guest cabins and, separated from them, the crew quarters. Specially studied crew flow paths run the entire length of all four decks.

The water’s edge beach club is an independent and versatile space with a striking design, while the generously sized garage on the port side ensures problem-free launch and recovery of the tender and water toys. Special focus during the design process was on the highest standards of soundproofing and in this respect Class 44M ranks at the top of the category. In order to minimise vibrations and maximise soundproofing, floating floors and bulkheads are used throughout, along with flexible transmission couplings based on state-of-the-art superyacht technology. The air-conditioning and purification system ensures high-efficiency air circulation with six changes per hour.

In the engine room, the Benetti Class 44M is equipped with two MAN units rated 1,400 HP at 2,300 rpm , delivering a top speed of 15 knots and a range of 4,100 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 11 knots.
