Where Is Below Deck Sailing Yacht Filmed?

of Where Is Below Deck Sailing Yacht Filmed?

The reality-drama television series ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ first premiered on February 3, 2020, on Bravo. It is a spin-off of the series ‘Below Deck ,’ which also airs on the same network. The series is set in the posh world of private yacht charting and documents the lives of the crew members of a charter sailing yacht as they navigate the difficult challenges of the sea under the guidance of Captain Glenn Shepard. As we follow the crew during a typical charter season, the yacht sails to beautiful and scenic locations. If you are curious about the filming locations of ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht,’ here’s everything we know.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Filming Locations

The series follows the crew of Parsifal III, a charter sailing yacht and the primary setting of the series. A large portion of the series is filmed onboard the Parsifal III as the series documents its crew’s experiences. The series focuses on the journey of the yacht and not the destination. However, that does not mean beautiful and breath-taking sights aren’t featured. Here are the details about the filming locations.

Parsifal III

Parsifal III is a sailing yacht built by Perini Navi, an Italian shipyard based in Viareggio, Tuscany, Italy. Danish entrepreneur Kim Vibe-Petersen currently owns the yacht. The yacht is approximately 54 meters (177 ft.) in length and sports lavish interiors. Parsifal has a total of five cabins that can accommodate twelve passengers at a time and comprises a crew of nine members who are the focus of the series. The series is filmed mainly on the yacht as it traverses along the coastline of Greece in Season 1 and Croatia’s coastline in Season 2.

Corfu, Greece

In the first season of the series, the crew of Parsifal III was stationed in Corfu, Greece. Corfu is an island that is a part of the Ionian group of islands situated in the Ionian Sea. The principal city of the island is also named Corfu. Corfu is a popular tourist destination and an essential part of Greece’s history. The Old Town of Corfu was inducted into the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2007. Corfu is also known as the “Emerald Island” due to its large cover of natural vegetation. Corfu has more than 2 million olive trees that add appeal to its appearance. The island is also famous for its freshly prepared gourmet dishes.

Split, Croatia

The city of Split in Croatia, located on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea, is where the Parsifal III is docked during the second season of the series. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the crew had to remain on board the yacht for the entire filming duration. Split is a beautiful port city with vibrant architecture and excellent cuisine, which attracts many tourists. The city has a laid-back vibe and calm ocean-hugging beaches that provide plenty of reprieves making it a perfect vacation destination. The city also has many restaurants and nightclubs where the party goes on all night. The Diocletian’s palace is one of the city’s liveliest spots, and experiencing the Dalmatian coffee culture is a must for all caffeine lovers.

Where is 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 4 filmed?

'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 4 is filmed on the same sailing yacht as that of the previous seasons, i.e. Parsifal III. According to Yacht Charter Fleet , Parsifal III is a 54m/177'2'' long yacht built by the Italian shipyard Perini Navi. It has space for up to 12 guests in 5 cabins. The yacht also has a child-friendly setup which has been styled by Remi Tessier. There are a total of 7 beds in it, including 1 king, 2 queen, 4 singles, and 2 Pullmans. Parsifal III is also capable of carrying 9 crew onboard, ensuring a relaxed and luxurious journey.

The filming of the new season began around June 13, 2022. As per the trailer, 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 4 is filmed in Sardinia, Italy. The yacht is set to sail in the crystal-clear blue water of the Ionian Sea. The crew members will be enjoying their time in the province of Portisco Marina, Sardinia.

Will primary charter guests be unhappy with the service on Parsifal?

Well, the primary guests will not be unhappy with the servicing but they will certainly face a lot of issues. In the teaser released, we can see the yacht facing trouble because of the high tides. Captain Glenn can be seen saying in the trailer, "I have been with Parsifal for 13 years. She has a lot of problems but she's never let me down." And then the clip shows everything falling apart inside the yacht. The crew members are seen sliding from one place to another because of the turbulence caused. One of the primary guests says, "Who needs a roller coaster? Holy cow." Looks like Parsifal is going to turn things upside down. We can also see some of the primary guests falling on the yacht and getting seriously hurt. It is further to be seen whether the turbulence and disturbance caused on the yacht is Parsifal's fault or the Captian's fault. Let us further wait for the release to know.

I love this series! And from my understanding, they only returned to Croatia due to the pandemic. However, I would love for them to return to Mallorca. I don’t know if anyone else is with me on this, but there are many beautiful hidden gems for such a small island! For example, Alcudia has some amazing beaches and such a good culture for a small town. Bulgaria is somewhere I cannot believe they have not visited! Nessebar, especially, is a place with a beautiful story.

Everything That’s Leaked About Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5

By Amy DeVore

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 Reunion Recap

The Below Deck franchise on Bravo has launched many successful spin-offs since it’s inception in 2013. One of these spin-offs is Below Deck Sailing Yacht , which has just finished airing Season 4 . In this series, Captain Glenn Shephard faithfully leads his crew each season onboard the Parsifal III sailing yacht. Since Season 2, Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher , First Officer Gary King , and Chief Engineer Colin MacRae have joined Captain Glenn for filming.

These three yachties have now become the faces of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. Their tightly-knit friendship and playful banter have always made for great television. However, Season 4 was rough on this faithful trio. During the Season 4 reunion, it became clear that some of these friendships were fractured beyond repair.

Here’s a quick recap to help break this down: Daisy and Gary’s long-standing flirtation came to a head. This was due to Gary’s “casual” leaking of his and Daisy’s physical encounter(s) in between Seasons 3 and 4. This news came as a shock to Colin, as he and Daisy were entering into a boatmance when this revelation struck.

During the reunion, a since broken-up Daisy and Colin threw stones at each other, each blaming a lack of trust as the cause. The two are no longer close. Gary is still friends with both of his coworkers, however.

Currently, Below Deck fans have their eyes open wide for signs of Season 5’s filming. Images of a crew alongside the Parsifal III have been taken (and shared). Other fans have undergone deep dives on social media to unearth possible new cast members. With that in mind, here is everything that’s been leaked about Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5.

The Filming Location

Spotted in Ibiza by u/Take_Me_To_Ibiza in belowdeck

Last month, a fan caught sight of the Parsifal III docked in Ibiza. Images of this infamous vessel were immediately shared over on the Below Deck subreddit . A film crew can even be seen onboard capturing footage. Shortly after this was shared, another fan on a cruise in Ibiza spotted the Parsifal III with a group of charter guests off of the coast of an Ibizan village.

With these two sightings in mind, the Balearic Islands are likely Season 5’s location.

Only Two Returning Cast Members Have Been Spotted

Spotted filming in Ibiza! by u/Successful-Will-95 in belowdeck

While we can safely assume that Captain Glenn will return for Season 5, the other cast members have held a large question mark post Season 4’s drama. That said, several days after the Parsifal III’s spotting, fans caught sight of a new cast eating dinner in an Ibizan town, Dalt Vila. Within the image, Gary and Daisy are clearly seen. Colin is noticeably absent.

If there are any Colin stans reading this, hopeful that Colin is just resting onboard and not at this dinner, I have bad news. Online, Colin is sharing videos on his YouTube Channel, Parlay Revival . These videos show that Colin is currently sailing across the Pacific Ocean on his Catamaran. As the Balearic Islands are connected to the Atlantic Ocean, Colin’s return for Season 5 is unlikely.

Regarding the other Season 4 cast mates, the images making the rounds do not feature any of their faces. However, Deckhand Alex Propson actually announced during the reunion that he will be appearing on another hit Bravo show. Alex is joining the cast of Winter House Season 3.

Based on the leaked images, it appears that Daisy and Gary will be the only returning faces from Season 4. The fans detectives within the same subreddit, however, have unearthed two of the possible new crew’s identities, alleging that one of the blondes appears to be Danni Warren . Side note, Danni’s Instagram recently followed Gary.

NO, Danni, RUN.

Danni also follows Chef Cloyce Martin , whose recent joins are people currently located in Ibiza. If Chef Cloyce is indeed appearing in Season 5, he will have big shoes to fill from the Season 4 Chef, Ileisha Dell . To note, while these 2 new crew members are not verified, their likeness does resemble those within the leaked image.

A Housewife Will Charter The Parsifal III

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tiffany Moon, MD (@tiffanymoonmd)

Real Housewives of Dallas star Tiffany Moon has posted images of herself onboard the Parsifal III in Ibiza in recent weeks. In her many shared posts of gourmet food, beachy tablescapes, and stunning sunsets, fans are weighing in to ask if she was indeed there for filming. While Tiffany is not responding to these specific inquiries, her timeline of posting coincides with that of the current filming schedule taking place. Therefore, it stands to reason that Tiffany will likely make an appearance in Season 5.

Season 5’s Premiere Date – An Educated Guess

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Below Deck (@belowdeckbravo)

Fans of this series will likely be waiting awhile for Captain Glenn’s latest adventures to broadcast. If keeping to its typical schedule, Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 will begin to air sometime around February – April of 2024.

That’s a long time to wait for answers, but wait we will.

'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 3 Filmed in a Picturesque European Location

Shannon Raphael - Author

Published Feb. 18 2022, 2:25 p.m. ET

Since it debuted in 2020, Below Deck Sailing Yacht has given viewers some of the most dramatic feuds and epic love-to-hate boatmances (like Jenna MacGillivray and Adam Glick in Season 1, and the Gary King , Sydney Zaruba, and Alli Dore love triangle the following year) ever in the Below Deck franchise.

The Bravo spin-off series is set to return on Feb. 21 and, though the sailing yacht itself is still Parsifal III , most everything else has changed. The third season will feature a new filming location and multiple fresh-faced crew members. Read on to find out everything you need to know about Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3.

Where was 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 3 filmed?

While Parsifal III has been the vessel featured on all three seasons of Below Deck Sailing Yacht , the filming location has changed each time.

The debut season of the Bravo spin-off was filmed entirely on the Adriatic Sea, in Corfu, Greece, in the summer of 2019. Season 2, which was shot amid the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns in the summer of 2020, took place in Croatia.

Production on the third season commenced in the summer of 2021 in Menorca (also spelled Minorca), which is an island to the east of Spain's mainland in the Mediterranean Sea. Along with Ibiza, Mallorca, and Formentera, Menorca is one of the four largest Balearic Islands.

Known for its Mediterranean climate (hot summers and mild winters) and its picturesque seaside towns, Menorca has become a top travel destination. It, therefore, is an ideal location for the charter guests to get picked up on Below Deck Sailing Yacht.

The 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Season 3 cast is a mix of past fan favorites and many fresh new faces.

According to the Season 3 trailer, the Parsifal III crew members will be engaging in drama, dealing with injuries, and exploring potential boatmances as the charter season progresses.

For the third season in a row, Captain Glenn Shepard is navigating the crew members and the charter guests through the Mediterranean Sea. The Montreal native is the only person to appear on all three seasons of the spin-off.

Colin MacRae

The captain is joined by returning stars Daisy Kelliher (Chief Stew), Gary King (Bosun), and Colin MacRae (Chief Engineer).

Gary's deck team consists of Tom Pearson and Kelsie Goglia. Daisy will be in charge of second stew Gabriela Barragan and third stew Ashley Marti.

Chef Marcos Spaziani is in the galley on the boat, and it remains to be seen if he can cook a full multi-course meal while Captain Glenn is using the sails.

New episodes of Below Deck Sailing Yacht air on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo. The show is also available to stream on Peacock.

From the paradisiacal islands of the Caribbean to the majestic snow-capped peaks of Norway , we take a closer look at the spectacular destinations the Below Deck yachts have visited since it first began.

Yachts anchored in a sheltered cove in Antigua Harbor, Caribbean

The show’s inaugural season premiered in the Caribbean, which covered a number of superyacht hotspots in the region, kicking off the show in spectacular style from the charming Leeward Island of St Martin  – which also provided the tropical setting for Below Deck season 5.

Since then, this glittering archipelago has featured in no less than four seasons of Below Deck , including the beautiful islands of St Kitts & Nevis (season 9) and Antigua (season 8) – the undisputed superyacht hub of the Caribbean.

Located between Puerto Rico and Dominica, the Leeward islands offer an intoxicating mix of sublime white sand beaches, glamorous 5-star resorts and stunning natural beauty, not to mention astonishing clear waters brimming with life, as well as an array of superb marinas, making this region ideal cruising territory for superyachts and their guests.

A snorkeler at The Baths on Virgin Gorda in the BVIs, Caribbean

Featuring in season 2 of Bravo’s original reality series, the British Virgin Islands created a picture-perfect backdrop to the show, with the archipelago’s largest island of Tortola , as well as party island Jost van Dyke and the eternally exquisite Virgin Gorda, providing most of the glorious scenery.

Some of the highlights of a private yacht charter here include the BVI’s most famous landmark, The Baths in Virgin Gorda’s 7-acre National Park – a natural phenomenon of towering boulders and beautiful jade-green sea grottos, as well as the legendary Soggy Dollar Bar and Foxy’s – famous for its New Year's Eve parties on the island of Jost van Dyke, and Smuggler’s Cove – an instagram-worthy beach tucked away on Tortola’s west coast, featuring implausibly clear blue waters perfect for snorkeling.

Below Deck  also returned to the Virgin islands for its 4th season, this time around the beautiful US Virgin Islands , including popular tourist hubs  St Thomas , St Croix and the tranquil island of St John.

St Lucia beach with huts and palm trees in the Caribbean

Season 10 of Below Deck centered around the alluring island of St Lucia , home to the majestic twin peaks of the Pitons that set off the stunning scenery for the reality show’s latest season.

Waterfall in St Lucia in the Caribbean

Known as the “Jewel of the Windward Islands ”, St Lucia plays host to an array of idyllic beaches, picturesque harbors and chic restaurants. Her lush jungle-clad interior is awash with an abundance of tropical flora and fauna, offering a heady scent for anyone undertaking the popular hike up the island’s 3,000-foot Mount Gimie.

Beautiful tropical beach in the Bahamas with palm trees over white sand and turquoise water

While not strictly part of the Caribbean, the Bahamas were the destination of choice for Below Deck 's season 3; a yacht paradise of pellucid turquoise waters teeming with life and tropical islands that have become a playground for the SuperyachtSet and A-listers looking to escape the winter blues.

Beautiful Oia town in Santorini, Greece

In 2016, the first season of Below Deck Mediterranean graced our screens, where the show’s producers shrewdly opted to foreground Greece’s beautiful Cyclades archipelago for its inaugural season.

Home to the iconic blue-domed white-washed buildings that are synonymous with images of Greece, this group of islands has proved fertile cruising grounds for luxury yacht charters for years, whose guests come to immerse themselves in the islands’ rich cultural heritage, stunning beaches and breathtaking scenic beauty, not to mention the glamorous party scene.

Comprising a number of celebrated islands, including Mykonos and Santorini , yacht charter itineraries here are brimming with opportunities as the activities and sightseeing options are endless, and with each island only a stone's throw from each other, you can change your scenery at a moment’s notice.

Interestingly, a similar location decision was made for Below Deck Sailing Yacht ’s premier season on board yacht PARSIFAL III , this time set around Greece’s Ionian island of Corfu .

The island’s natural beauty has been committed to celluloid several times over, featuring in a number of TV and films over the years, including James Bond’s For Your Eyes Only and the Bafta-nominated TV series The Durrell’s .

Corfu is part of Greece’s Ionian archipelago ; a chain of strikingly beautiful islands, characterized by lush mountainous interiors, dramatic coastlines, charming fishing villages, intriguing cultural heritage and some of the finest beaches in Greece.

Islands in Croatia, East Mediterranean

One of the most popular destinations for superyacht charters in the East Mediterranean , Croatia is awash with ancient archaeological treasures, seriously beautiful landscapes and endless idyllic islands and islets peppered across the region, which is probably why this gem of the Adriatic has featured in 3 seasons of the Below Deck franchise; seasons 2 and 6 of Below Deck Mediterranean and season 2 of Below Deck Sailing yacht .

Boasting over 1,200 islands, glorious balmy climate and deeply rich history, not to mention low VAT rate compared with its West Mediterranean cousins, its small wonder Croatia is a superyacht paradise during the summer months and beyond.

The Below Deck yachts traveled to a number of popular hotspots within the region, including the UNESCO Heritage city of Dubrovnik , Croatia’s “jewel” Spilt  and the beautiful Šibenik, as well as popping across its southern border to enjoy the facilities at the award-winning marina at Porto Montenegro .

Small fishing boats moored in a clam harbor in Malta with historical buildings in the background

Other Mediterranean destinations visited by yachts on the show include Italy's famous Amalfi Coast (season 3), the eternally glamorous French Riviera (season 4), the popular Spanish archipelago of the Balearics (season 5), and the historic splendor of Malta , which is the location for Below Deck Mediterranean ’s latest season 7 featuring the indomitable Captain Sandy Yawn on board superyacht HOME .

For seasons 6, Below Deck broke with tradition and headed to the South Pacific outpost of Tahiti , where filming took place on board superyacht STARSHIP (previously M/Y SEANNA) with the show’s stalwart Captain Lee Rosbach.

Paradise beach in Tahiti

Set amongst a scattering of idyllic islands in the French Polynesia archipelago, Tahiti is that rare blend of paradisiacal beauty with a cosmopolitan twist courtesy of its rich cultural links with France as a protectorate of that country. Guests on yacht charters here can immerse themselves in the island's extraordinary blue-lagoon-like beauty while still able to enjoy the finest cuisine, boutique shopping and myriad excellent facilities offered by a host of luxury resorts.

Long-tailed boats are pulled up onto a golden beach lapped by green waters with a limestone rocky outcrop in the distance

Below Deck Season 7, meanwhile, continued with the tropical theme, this time foregrounding the unparalleled beauty of Thailand , with Ao Po Grand Marina in Phuket providing the home port for motor yacht BG (previously VALOR) during the show.

Filming took place around the beautiful islands of the Andaman Sea, including Phang Nga Bay , home to 100 islands and a wealth of majestic limestone karsts, including Koh Ta-pu – one of Thailand’s most famous landmarks that appeared in the James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun . Soaring 20 meters above the water, the tall vertical rock can be taken in from the sandy shores of Koh Phing Ghan.

Other notable filming locations include the famous Phi Phi Islands , home to Maya Bay – the idyllic setting for the 1999 film The Beach  starring Leonardo DiCaprio, as well as Ko Poda island renowned for its vast stretches of powder-fine sand beaches and excellent snorkeling and diving opportunities.

The latest Below Deck iterations; Below Deck Down Under and Below Deck Adventure, have broken the mold yet further with adrenalin-fuelled adventures adding to the mix.

Whitsundays in Australia

Below Deck Down Under is set in Australia’s sublime Whitsundays ; a heavenly cluster of islands located 34 miles off the coast of Queensland. Characterized by its array of dreamy islands fringed by white sands and intense turquoise-blue waters that form part of the Great Barrier Reef – one of the world’s seven natural wonders – this region offers prime cruising grounds for luxury yacht rentals.

Meanwhile Below Deck Adventure is set in the sub-Arctic wilderness of Norway , where the setting of glacial fjords and majestic mountain peaks form part of the show’s action, with guests partaking in a series of high-octane thrills and spills throughout the season.

A lone figure stands at the end of Pulpit Rock in Norway and surveys the majestic landscape of snow-capped mountain peaks

Norway is fast becoming a hotspot for superyachts eschewing the usual Mediterranean and Caribbean destinations for the more unique experiences on offer in this beautiful part of the world. Renowned for its dramatic scenery, sheer raw beauty, michelin-star dining experiences and the iconic Northern Lights , luxury yacht charters around this Scandinavian region promise to be nothing short of magical.

The Golden Bachelor: Gerry Turner's A Heartbreaker (The Red Flags Mean He Owes Theresa A Public Apology)

90 day fiancé: nicole nafziger: is mom-shamed star using death announcement to provide for her daughter, the golden bachelor's theresa nist shows off exciting new job amid gerry turner's damaged reputation.

Fans were surprised to discover that they would be getting a full season 2 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht . After season 8 of the original Below Deck was cut short due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it seemed unlikely for a spin-off to be filmed entirely during a period of social distancing. However, producers got creative and found ways to keep everyone involved safe, from the filming crew to the yacht crew to the charter guests.

Below Deck: Sailing Yacht  follows basically the same format as the original Bravo series , as a crew of often inexperienced crew is assembled by producers for maximum drama potential. The biggest difference from the original is the yachts. While Captain Lee runs standard mega-yachts, Captain Glenn runs sailing yachts. They have all the luxury of a yacht, but with the added excitement of sailing. While the crew on the original series is mostly responsible for cleaning and meeting guests’ requests, the crew of Sailing Yacht is charged with more technical jobs to keep the yacht sailing smoothly.

Related: Below Deck: Is Season 8 Cut Short & Less Episodes Due To Covid Pandemic?

Unlike other seasons of Below Deck , the location for season 2 of Sailing Yacht was carefully selected taking into consideration COVID-19 restrictions. Filmed during the summer of 2020, the pandemic was at its absolute peak. Captain Glenn told the Mention It All  podcast that Croatia was selected because of its low number of COVID-19 cases. It was not a huge change anyway, as season 1 had been filmed just 537 miles away in Greece. Croatia is a picturesque country on the Adriatic Sea and even has a coastal town that was built on the ruins of an old Roman Palace. With beautiful scenery and a relatively smaller covid risk, Croatia was a good filming location.

As viewers can see in the  Below Deck: Sailing Yacht season 2 trailer , none of the crew or guests were seen wearing masks. Despite how things may appear, producers did take many precautions in order to be able to continue filming. For instance, any positive COVID-19 tests would have shut down production, and they wanted to offer viewers a complete season. Everyone, from crew to guests, was tested prior to filming and subject to daily temperature screenings. Everyone onboard also stayed on board, not having the chance to enjoy what any coastal city had to offer. Apparently, the precautions worked and the crew was able to work a full charter season without any added health complications.

With very few movies or TV shows being filmed during 2020, Below Deck: Sailing Yacht has the distinction of being one of the few shows to continue production safely. With the 9th season of the original Below Deck still in the air, “Stud of the Sea” Captain Lee may not be returning to screens any time soon. Viewers will have to get used to Captain Glenn and his sailing yachts to fill the void.

Is Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 filming now?

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4: Is the show filming now?

It’s that time of year again when Below Deck Sailing Yacht begins to film a new season, and fans are wondering if Season 4 is in production.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 3 only ended in June after a turbulent and drama-filled season full of demanding guests and crew chaos.

Those four helped turn the show from the snooze fest it was during Season 1 to the crazy, entertaining show it turned into during Seasons 2 and 3.

Two seasons of the core four have fans concerned that a third one may not be in the cards, changing the dynamic.

Thanks to Captain Glenn, speculation has mounted that Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 is filming and will wrap up soon.

Is Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 filming?

Last week Captain Glenn shared a selfie aboard Parsifal III with a gorgeous sunset as the backdrop.

“Somewhere in the Western Med North of Sicily,” he captioned the post.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Captain Glenn Shephard (@bigsailboats)

Days later, the captain shared a post of him with the luxury sailing yacht in the background at night. The location was tagged as Palermo, Italy.

“Parsifal 3 looking her best. One more week and I’m a free man,” was the caption.

It was Captain Glenn’s last statement that has fans wondering if the show is filming. In the past, Below Deck Sailing Yacht has filmed from the beginning of July to mid-August.

The timetable shifted slightly for Season 2 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but was back on track for Season 3. Should Bravo keep the same schedule, that would mean Season 4 is filming now.

BravoCon is in October, and Captain Glenn will be at the event, as is Captain Sandy Yawn. Since Below Deck Mediterranean tends to film after Below Deck Sailing Yacht, both would need to be wrapped by mid-October.

Six weeks of filming for each show would mean that if Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 isn’t filming, it should be starting soon.

Here’s why Below Deck Sailing Yacht may not have started Season 4 filming

There are two very good reasons why filming may not have begun for Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 just yet. Daisy and Colin have both been visiting their families at the moment.

Colin recently revealed he’s back in New Zealand, meeting his nephew for the first time. Daisy has been hanging with her sister in Dublin too.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Daisy (@daisykelliher87)

It’s hard to imagine the show not having Daisy or Colin. Even if Colin opted out, which he may have because of his own sailing journey, Daisy has become the fan favorite chief stew of the Below Deck franchise. She wants to return, and fans want her to also.

Gary King shared a selfie of him in a speedo on Parsifal 3, but he works on the sailing yacht outside the show, so that doesn’t mean anything.

So there’s no definitive answer on Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 4 filming just yet.

Stay tuned, though, because details should be emerging soon.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht is currently on hiatus. Season 1-3 is streaming on Peacock.

Below Deck: Behind the scenes of filming the hit superyacht reality show

When it first aired in 2013, Below Deck quickly garnered the attention of a loyal band of die-hard fans. Three years later, the spin-off Below Deck: Mediterranean followed. Amid the chaos of crew love triangles and outrageous guest requests, returning captains Lee Rosbach and Sandy Yawn emerged as respected industry professionals and brand ambassadors for the show.

  • Below Deck secrets: What the hit TV series didn't tell you

In 2020, the brand’s second spin-off, Below Deck: Sailing Yacht , launched, shining a new light on the crews and challenges of sailing yacht charters. Together, the reality show triumvirate propelled Below Deck and the superyacht industry to global audiences, earning the show its own unique place in the hall of reality television fame. But Below Deck’s producers aren’t done yet. Earlier this year, US network Bravo announced the Below Deck empire was set to grow further with two new spin-off seasons, Below Deck Adventure and Below Deck Down Under . As the sixth season of Below Deck: Mediterranean gets underway on June 28, BOAT talks to executive producer Tania Hamidi about Below Deck’s stratospheric rise and the behind-the-scenes reality of filming the show.

  • How Captain Lee became TV’s favourite yacht captain

Hamidi is a seasoned television producer and one of Below Deck’s longest-serving team members. She has been a staple of the Below Deck production team for seven years, joining as the second season of Below Deck got underway. Soon after, she was involved in the launch of Below Deck: Mediterranean fronted by captain Mark Howard, who was promptly replaced by captain Sandy Yawn in the second season. This was a key casting decision, Hamidi says. “We loved Mark, but it was really exciting to have a woman in the wheelhouse. When that opportunity presented itself, it just took over,” she says, adding that Sandy “got herself on that boat”.

  • Captain Sandy Yawn on the reality of filming Below Deck Mediterranean

While captains Lee Rosbach, Sandy Yawn and Glenn Shephard have become familiar fixtures of the show, Hamidi reveals that not even they are safe when it comes to casting the next season. “All the different positions are on the table each season, including the captain,” she says. However, when it comes to changing a captain “there’s got to be a reason”. With crew, familiar faces often return, with notable examples being chief stewardess Kate Chastain and bosun Malia White. This creates a sense of continuity, Hamidi says. “We often have yacht crew come back in higher positions.” Diversity also informs key crew casting decisions to ensure “different types of people feature in different roles.” “It’s fantastic to have a female bosun or a different culture as head of a department that you don’t expect to see,” says Hamidi. “It’s fun to lean into the reality of the industry because it does exist.”

Below Deck: Inside the boats from the hit reality show

A Below Deck charter typically carries a maximum of 12 superyacht crew on board, including up to three resident crew who work on the yacht full time. Often the official captain of the yacht will drop down to first mate to allow for an incoming Below Deck captain. However, generally these crew roles stay off-camera and are not considered “part of the season,” Hamidi says. “They don’t really fit into part of the story, and if you do see them, it’s in an organic way, like an emergency.”

When it comes to casting new crew members, Hamidi reveals that “most” incoming crew already hold their STCW qualification, with some needing a refresher. While the show is totally unscripted, the casting team does look for a specific type of person when choosing the crew. “It’s a TV show so the crew we choose are definitely outgoing and happy to be open,” Hamidi says. “If they are closed off, it’s hard to tell a story and hard for others to come out and tell them their stories.”

  • Parsifal III : Meet the star of Below Deck's sailing spin-off

The same ethos applies when recruiting the season’s charter guests. As an unscripted show, the guests must be outgoing and excited for the charter. “We really don’t try and make them do things they don’t want to do,” says Hamidi. “We say ‘just have fun, it’s your vacation’.” This, Hamidi claims, is why they have so many guests keen to return, with the Below Deck charter guest casting team having to restrict the amount of returning guests to keep things “fresh”. While it’s well known that Below Deck’s guests pay a subsidised charter rate, Hamidi reveals the opportunity is still very much “aimed at the one per cent”, with guests expected to tip to the full price of the charter. “The guests have a slightly discounted rate but it’s still a pretty penny,” she says. “The average person couldn’t afford it.”

The filming schedule of a typical season of Below Deck is hectic. The intense schedule squeezes nine charters into a filming period of eight weeks. A total of 30 people, comprising yacht crew, guests and camera crew, can be on the boat at any one time. Split into pairs, the camera crew consists of a camera operator and a second team member operating the audio rig. Guided by the director, who watches from a cabin transformed into a “control room”, the camera crew “jump around the yacht” trying to capture key moments of the charter, from pulling anchor to meal prep in the galley. They often arrive onto the yacht at 5.30am and get the cameras rolling before the guests are out of bed. Working a 12-hour shift, they need to ensure all the unfolding action on board is caught on camera while avoiding the other camera crews on board. “The camera crew are running around and hiding from each other while getting all the action,” Hamidi says. This is especially difficult on a four-deck motor yacht, she says, but easier on the wider decks of Parsifal III , the star of Below Deck: Sailing Yacht . To support such an operation, the main charter yacht is accompanied by a support vessel and water taxi, which ferries the camera crew to and from the main yacht. The support vessel, which in previous seasons has been a schooner, catamaran and “mini yacht”, is chosen on the capabilities of its galley to ensure the crews are well fed. The support vessel follows around the mothership but is always carefully anchored out of sight to avoid being in the shot.

While Hamidi admits filming the series is “full on”, for her the hard work begins weeks before when preparation for the show begins. This includes everything from casting the show, choosing a charter yacht, selecting brands to appear on the show and sourcing water toys, such as floating golf courses and superyacht slides. Equipment is checked in the galley, visas are approved and valuable objects – such as art – are removed from the charter yacht. Amid all the noise and intensity of preparing and filming the show, it is the morning water taxi rides to the mothership that stay with Hamidi the most. “You’re out on the water, it’s too loud to have a conversation and it’s beautiful – it’s those moments that stay with me,” she says. Despite two more spin-off series being greenlit, Hamidi is adamant the Below Deck franchise is just getting started. “It’s internationally syndicated, more and more people are interested in yachting, and I think it’s just going to grow and grow and grow.”

Below Deck Mediterranean premieres on Monday, June 28 at 9pm ET/PT on Bravo. New episodes will be available one week early on Peacock beginning Monday, June 21 .

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 4: "Lazy Daisy" "Capt. Glenn remains committed to improving the guest experience by insisting a stew go on all excursions. Daisy is frustrated after learning she’s a stew down while the deck team goofed off on the eFoils. Chef Ileisha’s perfectionism is thrown off when she faces her greatest fear in the galley and enlists Colin’s help. Gary claims his territory as First Mate both with the ladies and on deck as he sets his eyes on Mads knowing his deckhands are interested in the same girl."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 5: "Hate Me Tender" "Daisy is overwhelmed with the high-maintenance guests and struggles to ask for help, so a request from Gary sends her over the edge; when a guest injury occurs on the water toys, Capt. Glenn goes into high alert."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 6: "Clash & Burn" "In an effort to turn the charter around, Capt. Glenn takes the guests on an epic sail. Lucy makes a grave mistake to a charter guest’s garment. After Chef Ileisha continues to leave the guests waiting too long between courses, Capt. Glenn gives her honest feedback in the tip meeting that pushes Daisy's defensive buttons. Colin defends Capt. Glenn’s comments as feedback and not critique, which only heightens Daisy’s frustrations."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 7: "Smoke on the Water" "Another engine issue emerges, forcing Capt. Glenn to modify the plan and keep the returning guests entertained. With all the uncertainty going on in the engine room, Capt. Glenn takes control and points out the crews’ mistakes. Daisy and Colin make up after their fight as their relationship grows stronger. Daisy confronts Gary about Mads and claims he’s playing his usual games. Tired of the drama, Chase plans a night of drunk Twister and hosts a surprising yoga session. "

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 8: "Cheers to Boobies" "After Chase confides in Gary about Alex’s lackluster work ethic, Chase’s trust is broken when Gary tells Alex about their conversation. The crew pull off talent show #2 for the returning guests and surprise themselves with their interesting skills. Chase has a little too much to drink, and he upsets some of the crew, pushing Lucy to lose it and her chair at dinner. Daisy and Colin get closer than ever as they share an unexpected kiss."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 9: "Love Boat" "Glenn dresses up for the guests' theme night; he hopes his participation helps correct a jewelry theft hiccup and is on top of his crew to make sure the women have the best trip of their lives."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 10: "Loose Lips Sink Friendships" "The crew has the day off, and even Capt. Glenn recharges by enjoying Parsifal III all to himself and riding the eFoil; Colin saves the day clearing the clogged toilets, but he gets jammed up when his honest opinion strikes a chord."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 11: "Let Them Eat Cake" "Capt. Glenn notices the standards are slipping on Parsifal lll as the crew is exhausted with the mid-season blues. Distraught that Colin and Gary aren’t speaking, Daisy takes initiative and forces them to hash out their problems. Gary’s confusing behavior has Mads confessing her feelings to Alex. Colin tries to forgive Daisy’s discretions, but she adds insult to injury after she drunkenly confuses him for Gary. On charter, after anchoring in their first destination, Parsifal lll nearly drags into a neighboring boat."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 12: "T-Bone with Stakes" "Capt. Glenn notices the crew is slipping on service when a guest is injured, and interior doesn’t hear the walkie call forcing Capt. Glenn to up the guest maintenance standards onboard. After Alex and Mads confess their feelings from the start, Mads is torn between Alex and Gary. Shaken after a close T-Bone with a nearby boat, Gary is confused when his advances to Mads aren’t being reciprocated."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 13: "Hurricane Bonnie" "Captain Glenn reprimands the crew as recent slip-ups are directly affecting communication and morale; Daisy breaks down when she's proven wrong about the walkies not working; Chef Ileisha is determined to prove she can complete a 10-course dinner."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 14: "Boat Load of Throuples" "Capt. Glenn threatens to kick one of the 'throuple' charter guests off Parsifal during a drunken guest fight. Mads receives a wake-up call that prompts her to dismiss Gary’s apology attempt and more seriously consider Alex leaving Gary with a stomach full of regret. Unhappy with Gary, Alex and Colin decide to follow their hearts instead."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 episode 15: "Man Buns Has it Been Fun": "Proud of his team’s accomplishments during the final sail, Capt. Glenn believes his tough love made them all stronger. The crew celebrates their final night out and Daisy and Colin try to soak up every moment of it. Following tearless goodbyes, Capt. Glenn and Gary stay onboard Parsifal to pick up another charter season."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 cast

Captain Glenn Shepherd returns to helm the Parsifal III. This is his fourth season on the series, but he's no stranger to the ship. He's been helming the Parsifal III for over a decade.

Captain Glenn will be joined once again by Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher, first mate Gary King and engineer Colin MacRae.

New to the series are chef Ileisha Dell, stews Lucy Edmunds and Mads Herrera and deckhands Chase Lemacks and Alex Propson.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 plot

Bravo offered this synopsis of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4 and it gives you a good sense of what's coming in the new season:

"Capt. Glenn and his comeback team Daisy Kelliher, Gary King and Colin MacRae resume their responsibilities aboard Parsifal III, along with new, dynamic crew members, as they set sail in Sardinia, Italy. Capt. Glenn realizes that his laid-back leadership style has allowed his crew to become too comfortable and starts taking charge of quality control in the interior department, much to Daisy's dismay.

"In the galley, Chef Ileisha’s cooking impresses the guests, but her indecisiveness and co-dependency lead to time-management issues between courses, which causes her to self-destruct. On deck, strong personalities collide, and a power struggle results in a near mutiny, as Gary clashes with his new overconfident deckhand, Chase.

"Two overlapping love triangles further complicate the dynamics on-board, and a shocking hookup puts Colin, Daisy and Gary’s friendship in jeopardy. With a near collision, fire, crew rebellion, gruesome guest injury and two different potentially season-ending engine failures, this is the most captivating and unpredictable season yet of Below Deck Sailing Yacht ."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2 Cast: Where Are They Now?

Here's what happened to Daisy, Colin, Captain Glenn and the rest of the Parsifal crew.

preview for Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2 trailer (Bravo)

While Season 1 of the Below Deck 's second spin-off Sailing Yacht felt tame—for lack of a better word—fans have been in for quite a treat with a nearly all-new and far more exciting cast for Season 2. So far, we've been introduced to the likes of Chief Engineer Colin Macrae, Chef Natasha, and Chief Stewardess, Daisy, all of whom have become fan favorites, and rightfully so. As the crew navigates the waters of Croatia, that isn't the only thing they're sailing through. With a plethora of hookups and questionable charter guests, this season is shaping up to be one of the rockiest.

Considering the series filmed in August 2020, viewers are curious about the whereabouts of our Sailing Yacht favorites...and, more importantly, how the cast and crew managed to film for several weeks amid lockdown. As it turns out, the location of this season was chosen intentionally. At that time, Croatia remained one of few countries in the EU to accept American tourists. In a Reddit AMA , a producer for the show also explained that maintaining safety protocols (which likely included regular Covid testing) was key in filming this season.

Here's what happened to your favorite crew members from Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 2:

Colin Macrae

below deck sailing yacht season2 pictured colin macrae photo by laurent bassetbravonbcu photo bank via getty images

Colin Macrae might serve as the Chief Engineer aboard the Parsifal III, however, when it comes to the inner workings of his relationship, things aren’t as black and white. Despite gushing over his relationship with Martina Alvarez last summer, Macrae revealed that he and Martina have officially parted ways. “Unfortunately my relationship with Martina came to an end a couple of months ago,” Colin captioned his most recent YouTube video . Although his romance is no more, Colin remains optimistic for what’s to come as he embarks on a “fresh start” in none other than Panama. Colin has also continued his efforts in creating content online documenting his many adventures in Linton Bay, Panama , where he’s resided over the course of the last few months.

Glenn Shephard

below deck sailing yacht season2 pictured captain glenn shephard photo by laurent bassetbravonbcu photo bank via getty images

Captain Glenn Shephard is back and better than ever! The sailboat captain may only have 2 seasons of Below Deck under his belt, but his 20 years of experience certainly make him a notable addition to the Bravo family. Since his summer in Croatia last year, Gl enn has since moved to Spain , which Shephard has deemed his new “happy place.” While becoming a Bravo-lebrity can go to one’s head, Glenn has remained modest when it comes to his newfound fame. The star now offers Zoom sessions with fans of the show, where he dishes on behind-the-scenes details all while sipping cocktails on the Spanish coast.

First Officer Gary King walked away from his very first season on Below Deck Sailing Yacht feeling nothing but grateful. “Reminiscing about the last 6 weeks that have just flown by. I learned lessons that I’ll carry for life,” Gary wrote on Instagram . While fans have been rooting for him and fellow stewardess, Alli Dore to set sails on a possible romance, it appears as King has been flying solo since the series ended. After traveling about to a number of stunning locations, including Mallorca, Spain, Gary returned home to South Africa just in time for Christmas. The Bravo star has since remained in his home country, occupying himself with a series of visits to the golf range and a new passion for landscape photography and cooking.

Natasha De Bourg

below deck sailing yacht season2 pictured natasha de bourg photo by laurent bassetbravonbcu photo bank via getty images

The Michelin-star chef has been tuning in this season from her home in the Bahamas, and, well, she hasn't taken to it favorably. The star has posted a series of pics on her Instagram detailing her frustrations with herself on the show, claiming that she is “human and humans are imperfect.” Luckily for Natasha, her friendship with both Dani and Alli has blossomed immensely since wrapping up, and the two have been a huge support for Natasha as she cruises through these waves of criticism.

Daisy Kelliher

below deck sailing yacht season2 pictured daisy kelliher photo by laurent bassetbravonbcu photo bank via getty images

Being the Chief Stewardess on any yacht is no easy feat, and Daisy Kelliher is certainly feeling the burn. Following her time at sea in Croatia, Daisy, unfortunately, broke her wrist and found herself back home with mom and dad in Ireland . During lockdown, Daisy accepted a job in Antigua two months later, however, due to the current situation, her efforts at finding adventure fell flat. “I had completely lost myself,” Daisy captioned her photo on Instagram , revealing she began pushing friends away and entered a dark space. Luckily for the Below Deck star, she feels like herself again and is set to start a new job. During a live chat, Daisy revealed to co-star, Sydney Zaruba that she is most likely headed back to Europe, although she’s left much of what she’ll be doing a mystery.

Dani Soares

below deck sailing yacht season2 pictured daniele soares photo by laurent bassetbravonbcu photo bank via getty images

Dani Soares soared to being a fan favorite this current season and we don’t see that changing anytime soon. Soares, who reigns all the way from Brazil, has gone on to make quite a name for herself since her summer in Croatia. The star currently resides in Sydney, Australia where she is expecting her very first child. Dani revealed the news on social media back in April, however, both her due date and daddy status remain unknown. Although fans have inquired who the father is, Soares made it clear that it isn’t “anybody’s business.” As she embarks on her journey towards motherhood, Dani is currently working as a beauty therapist in the land down under all while taking in her recent rise to fame.

Alli Dore is the third stewardess to join the hit Bravo series, and boy are we glad she did. After wrapping up her summer in Croatia, Alli returned home to Australia, where she was born and raised. Her love for boating didn’t stop when the summer did, as she went on to spend her time in the Whitsundays Islands. As for Alli’s personal life, the star made an appearance on the Unpopular podcast where she revealed that she is pansexual. [I am] “attracted to people’s aura,” she revealed. Alli has gone on to start her very own IGTV series called Pita Party , which she stars in alongside Sailing Yacht co-stars, Daisy and Dani.

Sydney Zaruba

below deck sailing yacht season2 pictured sydney zaruba photo by laurent bassetbravonbcu photo bank via getty images

Sydney Zaruba found herself in quite the love triangle last summer in Croatia, but today, she is all about keeping her inner circle small. Sydney, who was born and raised in Florida, moved on over to the stunning island of Mallorca, Spain where she currently works on a 42-meter sailing yacht! This is nothing new for Sydney; considering her experience on Below Deck and, of course, her long history of sailing with her family. In addition to being at sea, Sydney decided to become a travel agent with Explorateur Travel. While the cast of Sailing Yacht has gone their separate ways since the summer ended, Sydney still managed to bump into none other than Captain Glenn on the streets of Palma.

Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux

below deck sailing yacht season2 pictured jean luc cerza lanaux photo by laurent bassetbravonbcu photo bank via getty images

Jean-Luc may be the youngest Below Deck crew member but he certainly makes up for it in height? Following his summer working on the Parsifal III, Jean-Luc traveled to Mallorca, Spain, an idea many of his co-stars had as well. Shortly after, the 25-year-old made his way on over to Costa Rica , which he’s called home for the last several months. Despite the remarkable views, Jean-Luc is entering some rocky waters as a plethora of rumors have surfaced questioning his role in Dani Soares’ pregnancy. Not only have fans been flooding his social media with questions concerning whether he’s the father or not, but fellow charter guest, Barrie Drewitt-Barlow also went on to add fuel to the fire. In an Instagram video posted back in April, Barrie claimed that Jean-Luc “was too busy getting the other one [Dani] pregnant … He’s gonna be a daddy,” he said. While Dani laughed off the comment, Jean-Luc has yet to address the rumors.
