84 Luxury Yacht Interiors: Bedroom, Galley and Salon Pictures

Azimut Atlantis 50 foot yacht interior design

A yacht is really just a luxury floating home . When you’re talking 70 feet and larger, they’re a lot nicer than my house. As you’ll see in the luxury yacht interiors below, the quality and aesthetics are simply gorgeous. And we merely feature a small handful of such boats. There are thousands and thousands of these worldwide.

Our epic yacht interiors article is split into 5 galleries:  staterooms, guest bedrooms , salons and dinettes, kitchens and bathrooms. The point of this article is to merely give you a glimpse inside these ultra expensive boats… expensive to buy, run and maintain. Be sure to also check out our yacht decks galleries .

Yacht Primary Bedrooms (Staterooms)

We kick off our yacht interiors gallery with the stateroom. When it comes to the primary bedroom on these boats, no expense is spared. They are large, comfortable and stunning in design. These bedrooms are bigger than our primary bedroom.

Yacht Guest Bedrooms (2 Beds)

Many guest bedrooms on a yacht have two beds so that it can accommodate more people. However, they are, as you’ll see below, still very, very luxurious. These are certainly cozy sleeping quarters.

Salon and Dinette Photos

My favorite room on the boat is the salon and/or dinette area. In many cases, the dinette doubles as the living room. Mega yachts have dedicated salons and dining areas. I love these superb lounge designs below in the cabin as well as the upper lounge areas.

Large yacht salon interior

I must admit that kitchens on these super yachts are fairly small. I guess the cooking is done by the staff and yacht owners prefer to have more space for bedrooms, deck space and lounge space. That makes sense given there really is limited space. Nevertheless, these kitchens are gorgeous and the yacht designers certainly didn’t skimp with respect to quality.

Most boats dedicate very little space to bathrooms. Not these. The primary bathrooms below are incredible. The smaller bathrooms are guest bathrooms. These luxury yachts are so large and spacious that even the bathrooms are both beautiful and comfortable to use.

Superyacht Interior Design Trends: 2021 and Beyond

Written By: Naomi Chadderton

Design trends in the superyacht world are dictated less by the latest colours or gadgets and more by lifestyle choices, with interior designers constantly on the lookout for ways to take the user experience to the next level.

Cloud 9 Winch Design 1200x800

While most of the world may have slowed down during the pandemic, the superyacht interior design industry seems to be booming, with British studio Winch Design seeing a rise in yacht refurbishments over the last year. “Just as everyone saw 2020 as the year to knuckle down and target those home projects that had been pushed to the side, it was the same for superyachts,” says Jim Dixon, director of yachts and aviation.

“Many owners took the time to take care of the maintenance, ensuring their yachts are in the best condition possible for when restrictions are lifted. There has also been an increase in the time spent on yachts, with many owners seeing them as the perfect places to quarantine or set up a bubble. This, in turn, has also provided an increase in refurbishments with the clients’ needs shifting to accommodate these longer stays.”

Mark Berryman, founder of Mark Berryman Design agrees, explaining that: “As new builds can take between three and a half to five years from start to finish, clients are hoping that Covid-19 will be gone by this point and are therefore planning for the future.”

Key Superyacht Interior Trends for 2021

From advancements in green design trends to the new and exciting ways that glass is being used on board, we explore the key yacht interior trends to look out for in 2021 and beyond.

Sustainability and Carbon Reduction

As superyacht owners get younger and more in tune with the climate change around us, shipbuilders have been making waves in the industry with developments that lessen the damage on our marine environment, with regard to propulsion, reducing carbon footprints and creating more energy-efficient vessels. As to be expected, a growing eco-conscience in the superyacht industry is leading the way for sustainable interior design too, as studios cite sustainable alternatives to damaging onboard materials.

Black Pearl 1200x800

Black Pearl is one of the greenest superyachts on the water

At the forefront of the movement is Winch Design, where interior teams have been working hard to incorporate an extensive selection of sustainable materials into its sample library, allowing them to offer environmentally friendly solutions for every design. “Organisations such as the Water Revolution Foundation are developing tools that enable the industry to assess its environmental impact – not just in terms of CO2 emissions from a yacht, but a full life-cycle assessment based on the most important indicators of environmental impact,” says Dixon.

“The tools don’t only assess the entire yacht, the build process or the operation, but can also assess a subsystem or focus only on the hull construction or machinery on board. It’s important to take the life-cycle assessment approach to know what real sustainable choices are – not just for the operation or the build,” he adds. As such, they have had plenty of success substituting traditional finishes such as shagreen and horn with faux versions including olive-tanned and plant-based leathers, as well as fabrics such as organic cotton and bamboo which are much kinder to our planet.

Mark Berryman 1200x800 2

Mark Berryman is known for his use of sustainable materials

Berryman is also passionate about incorporating sustainable materials into his designs, something that fits perfectly with his signature style. “Thanks to our relaxed contemporary in house style with accents of Asian influence, the issue of sustainability often isn’t a problem for us,” he explains. “We use natural materials that are plentiful and easily replaceable, such as bamboos, rattans and wood veneers of non-rare species. We no longer find our clients asking for rare or non-sustainable finishes.”

Lighting Technology

As lighting technology rapidly evolves, it presents an incredible array of opportunities both on board superyachts and beyond and, as something that used to run as an afterthought, things have been improving rapidly as of late, with lighting now being considered as an integral part of the interior and being detailed into joinery.

“Lighting is one of the most important aspects of all interiors, not only yachts,” Pavel May, head of the Maritime Program at Preciosa Lighting tells Superyacht Stories. “When you enter a room, the first thing you notice is the mood and feeling the space presents. This is what lighting does: creates the desired mood and feel. Installations are becoming more minimalistic and focused on the details – these days, light fixtures are basically a work of art.”

Preciosa 1200x800

Preciosa Lighting

A recurring trend that we expect to continue is the use of lighting within natural elements such as natural stone – “these lights illuminate the surroundings without being too harsh on the eyes,” explains Dixon. Elsewhere, LED lighting placed behind a gas-filled panel that replicates the earth’s air make-up is also picking up speed. “It means that when you turn the LED light on, the panel feels like a skylight with real sunlight behind it,” explains Berryman.

“This is great for spaces such as beach clubs which work so well during good conditions with shell doors that fold down, but when the weather is not permitting they can feel quite dark with smaller windows set into the doors. This new LED panel technology creates a fantastic effect and brings the feeling of natural sunlight into a dark space, and it’s very difficult to tell the difference between that and a real skylight.”

Innovations in Glass

Shipyards have been investing heavily in the research of glass over recent years, leading to more innovative, flexible use of the material for superyacht exteriors. As such, it’s having a positive domino effect on boat interiors too, and as something that both connects and separates at the same time, it’s no surprise that requests for innovative new uses of glass are coming in thick and fast.

In 2020, for example, we saw privacy glass replacing curtains and shades, and in some cases, it even replaced walls. This can be seen in the glass-box owner’s lounge found on the Riva Race ,  or the distorted glass walls that separate the bedroom from the rest of the master on board Hakvoort’s Scout.

Winch Design 1200x800

Winch Design is known for its innovative use of glass

“Designs have become more radical, and we are incorporating more engineering challenges into our designs, for example, the curved double-height glass panels on Excellence, each precision-engineered and weighing over a tonne,” says James Russell, associate and exterior yacht designer at Winch Design. “It’s becoming increasingly important to find ways to make the structural assets of a design merge seamlessly with the design aesthetic.”

A desire for more contemporary spaces is also coming to the fore, often open plan with huge expanses of glass allowing light to flood in and the guests to feel close to nature. As such, it allows the landscape to become a backdrop for the interior itself.

“Glass in the use of the exterior is really helping the interior spaces,” agrees Berryman. “We found on MY Life Saga, which we completed in 2019, that the size of the windows had a fantastic effect on the interior spaces. Again with a neutral palette of warm wood tones and calming natural fabrics, the sunlight filtering into these spaces was amazing. Not only did the interior benefit from being flooded with light, but also the guests benefitted from uninterrupted views of the ocean.”

Relaxed, Calming Design Aesthetic

Fashioning a place you want to relax in that also remains a symbol of status is a quandary most superyacht owners will face at least once in their lifetimes. While owners would once upon a time have expressed a degree of majestic power through lavish colour schemes, today’s narrative places far more importance on relaxation and calm. Here, natural earthy tones take pride of place. “These shades connect back to nature and create a feeling of stability,” says Dixon. “The world is becoming more at one with nature and there has been an increase in demand for matching the designs to the natural landscape.”

Amels 60 Winch Design 1200x800

An natural colour palette on board MY Amels 60 (Winch Design)

Think sky blues, sage greys, classic whites and blush tones; 2021 is all about less show and more sand, with a bare-foot luxury beach club vibe increasingly popular. Coaxing a laid-back palette with plenty of natural materials, these calming colours work to warm up any space. “We tend to use oak as a backdrop to our interiors as this means you can highlight areas with dark furniture punctuations that contrast beautifully,” adds Berryman. “Bamboos and leathers are a firm favourite for us to create a warmth to our interiors. We always try to create a space that feels like a home from home.”

Gadgets and Onboard Audiovisual Technology

Millennial superyacht owners aren't only more in touch with sustainability issues, but technological advancements too, with the yachting mindset slowly shifting from simply buying a product to having experiences. And when it comes to technology on board, we’ve never had it so good. From simple gadgets and gizmos to connectivity advancements, what the owner wants the owner can most definitely get.

“We’ve designed yachts with speaker systems situated on the sundeck which pump out enough volume in such a way that the owner could ride around on their jet ski and still listen to music if they wanted to,” says Dixon. “We’ve also designed helipads which can be converted into an outdoor cinema through the use of hidden speakers and screens.”

15 Metre TV Wall Proposal

Technological capabilities in movie screenings are becoming even more advanced (Mark Berryman Design)

In fact, requests for technological advancements in cinemas and movie screenings are increasing exponentially. Mark Berryman says he’s finding cinemas with interactive seating that convey movement that relates to the film being watched, to be very popular. “Clients always want larger screen sizes for their TVs, and new large interior and exterior models are now available for all weather conditions," he says. "We put a dance floor on a boat recently that was made up of individual monitor panels where anything could be broadcast onto them which was very exciting, if not a strange experience trying to send emails from my phone whilst having them streamed to the dance floor beneath my feet!”

Onboard Spas

Health and wellness is a growing trend and that’s reflected in superyacht spas as well. Onboard spas are now routinely fully-equipped gyms, saunas, steam rooms, treatment rooms, beauty salons and the works. The spa is no longer a simple extension of the beach club. “Technological capabilities on board superyacht spas are second to none,” agrees Dixon. “We use companies who create holistic life-spa experiences which combine traditional spa methods with new technology and hurtle spa experiences into the future. We’ve also designed one aviation concept which has an aromatherapy shower on a jet!”

The pandemic has slowed much of the world down, but the superyacht industry has boomed and it has taken the yachting interior design sector along for the ride. Key trends emerging in yacht interior design this year include a focus on sustainability and eco-friendliness, major advances in the use of lighting, innovations in glass, design aesthetics that focus on creating calming environments, large onboard spas, and a major adoption of gadgets and AV technology.

The inspiration for many of the boat’s design elements on this yacht came from the Art Deco and Ruhlman design styles. Clean and crisp materials were used to open up and lighten the space, which is an important aspect in yacht or sailboat interior design, due to the tight area and low ceilings.

Yacht Interiors – Marine Grade and Movement Friendly

Principal Designer, Joseph W McCarter, will always keep in mind that yacht interior design materials must be resistant to moisture and marine grade.

This is an important factor in every yacht design we accomplish and can be a fun challenge to find unique materials that are still useful in a sailboat or yacht when exposed to ocean elements. Using rounded edges on tables and corners also help save people from bumps and bruises during a rough journey with functional boat interior design.

The Ten Most Amazing Superyacht Interiors

You'll be hard-pushed to find a superyacht with ugly interiors but then again, pinpointing which are the best is a challenging feat in itself. In the world of superyacht interiors, luxury is in abundance and we can really appreciate how designers maximise space and comfort in space-restricted vessels.

From neutral colour palates to bold, opulent interiors, designers have had their fun over the years creating home-from-homes too beautiful to comprehend. Let's take a closer look at some of the more jaw-dropping yacht interiors that are sure to pique your interest.

Cristina Gherardi Design carved out a space for everything when penning Savannah . From the cosy home office to the luxurious onboard gym, guest rooms enjoy vast open spaces and tall ceilings while a grand spiral staircase draws each level together. One of our favourite features on board the Feadship superyacht Savannah is the semi-submerged viewing lounge, providing views both above and below water.

Take a look inside motor yacht Savannah here .

Motor Yacht A

One of the world's most famous yachts, Motor Yacht A is the pinnacle of opulence. The 119 metre Blohm + Voss motor yacht is bright and airy on the inside the with light, neutral colours throughout. We're particularly keen on the bedroom Jacuzzi in the owner's suite and the deluxe day beds in the outdoor lounging area.

Take a closer look at Motor Yacht A 's interiors here .

White Rabbit

The grand central staircase on 84 metre White Rabbit greets you on arrival, leading guests to a central lobby that splits into two lounges. The interiors boast comfort from the soft carpeting throughout to the raised, squash beds and wrap-around sofas. We're not sure anyone could find a corner on White Rabbit that isn't luxuriously comfortable. Better still, the yacht has a grand circular bar on the main deck and professional-grade home cinema on board.

Take a closer look at White Rabbit here .

The winter garden onboard the 106 metre Lürssen superyacht is one to rival the best on land. It's a tranquil orangery complete with water features, marble floors and plenty of indoor plants. Much like the rest of the yacht, it's classy and well-considered, a favourite of ours at BOAT International .

Explore Amadea 's interiors here .

Grand, circular ceiling accents feature heavily in MySky , bringing every social space into one focal point and ultimately bringing everyone seated in each together. The well-polished interiors were penned by Mojo-Stumer Associates, using muted colour palates in line with the dark lacquered interior panelling to contrast the exterior styling.

Take a closer look at motor yacht MySky here .

One of the most hotly anticipated releases it should come as no surprise to find BOLD on this list. 85.3 metre luxury motor yacht from SilverYachts uses colour to bring the interior spaces to life, the striking living room with its cobalt blue sofas and complementary patterned rug are so zeitgeist and on-trend we can't stop staring. The interiors were penned by SilverYachts, creating a contemporary, homely space.

Take a look inside SilverYachts BOLD here .

Dragon is like your perfect holiday home, tastefully decorated with sea-inspired materials, designed to make you feel right at home on the water. The 80 metre Palumbo superyacht takes advantage of the pools of natural light, using natural woods to complement the neutral colour palette. It's refined simplicity and we love it.

Take a closer look at Dragon 's interiors, penned by Nuvolari Lenard here .

The 60.35m luxury yacht, built by Feadship, has Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design to thank for its impressive interiors. With rich, cherry woods, plush sofas and a grand spiral staircase, the opulent interiors are reminiscent of more traditional-style yacht interiors with a contemporary edge.

Take a closer look at Rock.It 's interiors here .

Last, but certainly not least, is Elandess with her darker, moodier colour scheme. She boasts fantastic viewing points throughout including a partially submerged viewing room for visibility below the waterline. There are endless (excuse the pun) standout features, combining textures and colour as well as a number of DKT Artworks throughout.

The Most Exciting Superyacht Interiors of 2019

By George Bains

Every year Superyachts.com brings you interior insights from the world’s most iconic yachts, bringing you closer to the luxury on board these floating palaces. In our retrospective series on 2019, we look back at some of the best interiors revealed.

There is no better place to start than the winner of the MYS Gala Award for Best Interior. The 111m Lurssen , designed by British studio Winch Design , has a wonderfully unique interior that sends guests on a period-based journey through worldwide luxury. Each guest suite on board TIS features styling from a different location close to the Owner’s heart, the Owner collaborating closely with the designers throughout the process. Influences stretch across the globe, from Tuscany to South East Asia, with the only the very finest materials relating to each region’s history selected.

The social areas on board TIS are ample, making for an unbelievable guest experience. Winch has fitted the yacht’s saloons with panoramic windows to afford unforgettable views across the ocean, helping also to flood the areas with natural light and complement the décor’s light feel. There are both indoor and outdoor cinemas found on this magnificent superyacht, while a 19-person al fresco dining table is the perfect spot for evening entertainment.

2019 also saw the first ever glimpse inside 85.10m Valerie, currently listed for sale with IYC. Originally delivered by Lurssen in 2011, Valerie completed a refit earlier this year which has kept the superyacht up to her impeccable standards. While Espen Øino took care of the exterior profile, and Reymond Langton is the designer responsible for Valerie’s intricate interiors. Commenting on the design, IYC Sales Agent Richard Gray said that “ spending time onboard, you begin to realize the time, effort and detail that has gone into building such a timeless masterpiece .” A video released by IYC revealed an Art Deco-inspired design, teasing some of the stunning materials and textures of the yacht.

14 guests are accommodated in 7 cabins across Valerie’s 6-deck structure. An enormous 20-foot swimming pool graces the yacht’s expansive sundeck, while there are plenty of toys and tenders stored on board waiting for the guests.

A statement of sophistication. Earlier in the year, the Superyachts.com team were invited onboard Tankoa’s 72m Solo. Touring the yacht with the backdrop of Barcelona’s stunning skyline, the team were left in awe at the craftsmanship onboard.

The sophistication of Solo’s design stems from a distinctly Italian influence. With the exterior lines penned by Francesco Paszkowski, Margherita Casprini was selected to draw the interior spaces. Casprini’s styling has been meticulously curated, giving careful consideration to each piece of material allowed on board. Commeting on the interior design, Captain Renzo Chelazzi said “you can find marble, oak in different colours, black oak for the floor, grey oak for the walls. Calacatta marble, ebony, macassar, cappuccino stone from Rajasthan which mixed together makes the interior be so amazing .”

Solo’s opulent details are enhanced by some quite stunning structures in integrated into the design, including a private elevator leading to the main deck from the Master Cabin.

"You can find marble, oak in different colours, black oak for the floor, grey oak for the walls." M/Y Solo Captain Renzo Chelazzi

Luxury Rules at the Moscow Yacht Show

Maria Sapozhnikova

The windy Russian autumn weather might be a little bit tricky for sailing, but it doesn’t stop brave yachtsmen from all over the world from flocking to Russian capital in the beginning of September when the Moscow Yacht Show commences. The main Russian Yacht exhibition gathers professional and amateur yacht lovers together under the wing of The Royal Yacht Club.

This year it took place for a fourth time already. The exhibition is considered the principal event on the sporting and social calendar. The Moscow Yacht Show 2010 united in one area three of the largest Russian yachts distributors: Ultramarine, Nordmarine and Premium Yachts.

A wide range of yachts were on display for a week. An exhibition showcased yachts both from Russian manufacturers and world famous brands: Azimut, Princess, Ferretti, Pershing, Riviera, Doral, Linssen, etc.

It was a real feast for seafarers as visitors of the show had a unique chance not only to take a look at the newest superyachts before they hit the market, but also to evaluate their driving advantages during the test drive. The show provided an excellent opportunity for yacht enthusiasts to choose and buy a new boat for the next season.

The event started with the grandiose gala evening. It included grand dinner, the concert and professional awards ceremony for achievements in Russian yachting industry. The guests also enjoyed the annual regatta.

Special guest Paolo Vitelli, Azimut Benetti Group president, opened the evening.

Next year organizers assured guests they would bring more yachts, the scale of which will even make oligarch Roman Abramovich envious. Sounds very promising indeed.

Fifth body recovered as sunken superyacht search enters final stages

Salvatore cocina, head of sicily’s civil protection agency, confirmed to nbc news on thursday morning that a fifth body had been recovered from the bayesian., by claudio lavanga and yuliya talmazan | nbc news • published august 22, 2024 • updated on august 22, 2024 at 6:23 am.

A fifth body was brought ashore Thursday from the wreck of  a superyacht that sank off the coast of Sicily , as rescuers searched for a remaining missing person to bring the saga to an end.

Six people were declared missing  after the 180-foot  luxury boat , the Bayesian, went down in what authorities said was a freak storm early Monday.

A massive rescue effort was launched, and  four bodies were  recovered  from the wreck on Wednesday after a dayslong operation hampered by the depth to which the wreck had sunk and the debris that blocked divers' path through its narrow passages.

Salvatore Cocina, head of Sicily's civil protection agency, confirmed to NBC News on Thursday morning that a fifth body had been recovered.

None of the bodies recovered from the wreckage have so far been publicly identified.

Those missing are British tech magnate Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah; Chairman of Morgan Stanley International and the British insurance firm Hiscox, Jonathan Bloomer, and his wife Judy; as well as a well-known New York City defense attorney Christopher Morvillo and his wife Neda.

At Oregon’s many ports, fishing vessels return laden with the catch of the day, exciting those who come to the coast seeking fresh seafood. They deliver their catch to bars, fish markets, and oceanside restaurants, which, in turn, offer the coastal staple: crispy fried fish with a heaping mound of french fries. Even with the popularity of this classic dish and these coastal towns’ proximity to the ocean, however, many fish-and-chip aficionados can fall into tourist traps with less-than-fresh fish in less-than-ideal surroundings.

After scouring the coastline’s shacks, bistros, carts, and fishing-family-owned markets from Astoria to Brookings, these are the indispensable spots frying up supreme baskets of fried piscine nuggets. Presented here from north to south, fish-and-chip stops with something extra special made the list, especially those featuring wild fish sourced off the Oregon shores — think lingcod, rockfish, and albacore alongside the more traditional cod and halibut. For even more dining on the Oregon Coast, this map of noteworthy restaurants may do the trick.

Bowpicker Fish and Chips

With many excellent options in Astoria — including downtown’s South Bay Wild Fish House and Ship Out across Old Youngs Bay Bridge — the beloved Bowpicker Fish & Chips often takes top billing. This 28-foot converted wooden boat once gillnetted for salmon on the Columbia, but now delivers a different catch of the day: lightly beer-battered chunks of juicy albacore , served with fries and tartar sauce. Be patient with lines and enjoy your 3-piece half or 5-piece full at a picnic table with a view of the river. Bad weather closes up shop, since the boat is an open kitchen concept — so open, in fact, that rain can pour into the galley.

Grizzly Tuna

Sometimes you need fish and chips drive-through service, and you need it right off the highway. Seaside’s Grizzly Tuna , north of downtown, has you covered seven days a week in the high season. With a quick and steady hand, the crew fries and delivers tuna prepared either as fish and chips or as tacos right to your driver’s seat. With a coating that has a particularly flaky texture and hot fries for your journey, what could be better? Oh yes, a special treat for your pup — just ask. You can also eat at on-site picnic tables, but it’s nicer to drive to the beach just a handful of blocks to the west.

Bell Buoy of Seaside

Family-owned since 1946, Seaside fixture Bell Buoy greets hungry travelers on Highway 101 with its retro neon sign, weathered brick market, and a fish and chips hut, Buoy’s Best Restaurant , in the parking lot. Most of Bell Buoy’s seafood in its tidy cold case comes from within 50 miles, an impressive feat. Over in the fry hut, the fish departs fresh and hot, served with thin fries, creamy slaw, and tartar sauce. For truly local seafood, try fried razor clams — dug on the nearby beaches. A massive Captain’s Plate comes piled high with halibut, salmon, cod, prawns, oysters, and one perfect razor clam. Order online for pickup, and keep in mind the restaurant is open for lunch but closes on the early side of dinnertime — some days by 5 p.m.

Ecola Seafoods Restaurant & Market

A mainstay for over 40 years in Cannon Beach, Ecola Seafoods Restaurant & Market has all the local seafood you might want, either fresh-fried or in an expansive deli case. Big hunks of batter-fried Pacific cod, halibut, wild salmon, and tuna appear on the menu year-round, alongside large prawns, calamari, and razor clam baskets with the same thin, crunchy fries. Ecola Seafoods supplies the restaurant with fish from a local fleet, so it’s worth asking about the fresh catch of the day. On a sunny afternoon, you can’t beat the second-story deck seating.

Riverside Fish & Chips

In the summer months, kayakers on the Nehalem River pull up to the bank at Riverside Fish & Chips to fuel up with a three-piece basket of Pacific cod, chips, and a side of creamy slaw. Now open year-round, this busy food truck is nestled behind a row of shops on the short main drag in Nehalem and can be accessed streetside via a small alley. Seating is mostly outdoor on shaded picnic tables, with some cover over a patio behind a local antique store. Regulars wholeheartedly approve of the light, non-oily beer batter, and occasional live music.

Sea Baron Fish & Chips

Sea Baron ’s deep ocean blue truck turns out some of the freshest fish and chips on the coast. You may want to indulge in a full five-piece order of local, batter-fried fish — which might be local lingcod or albacore sourced at the bustling Port of Garibaldi around the corner — with a side of fries. Or opt for halibut, prawns, and calamari, all fried with the same batter. Usually open for the season in May, the truck moved up the street in 2023 from its former location on the side of Highway 101 to a much cozier spot. Enjoy a basket at one of the picnic tables or find a spot along Tillamook Bay to enjoy the water.

Pub Fish & Chips

Don’t be fooled by the homemade sign and humble strip mall surroundings — Pub Fish & Chips is the real deal, a British-style chippy that sports a classic American diner vibe. Fat nuggets of hand-battered halibut or cod and crisp-tender skinny fries are even better with malt vinegar, liberally applied. Fans of clam strips, prawns, and popcorn shrimp have a home here, too. Even better is the “pub” part of Pub Fish & Chips: adults can choose from 16 taps, cocktails, or a creative menu of boozy shakes. The Cod Father features caramel whiskey; the Black Beard has root beer and vodka.

Squatchsami

Located across Highway 101 from Salishan Coastal Lodge in Gleneden Beach, the cute little Squatchsami food truck serves Oregon-caught halibut fish and chips, fried chicken strips and waffles, creamy chowder and more from the parking lot at Salishan Marketplace. For lunch or an early dinner (the cart closes at 5 p.m.), visitors can take their plates to go or enjoy them in the Outpost, a dedicated dining area within the market complex. Look for special twists, like a fresh rosemary sprinkle on the thin, crispy fries or creole remoulade sauce to dip your fish.

Tidal Raves Seafood Grill

Fish and chips for date night? Yes, please. In Depoe Bay, where whale-watching and fishing charter cruises from the tiny harbor keep the town bustling with visitors, you’ve got many options for a crispy basket of deliciousness. Fine dining Tidal Raves Seafood Grill often appears on the list of fish-and-chips favorites. With unparalleled oceanfront views and a lunch and dinner menu featuring seafood caught along the Pacific Northwest coast, the grill can please just about any taste in seafood from fancy to family fare. Batter-fried Pacific rockfish relies on corn masa for texture and flavor; oysters and razor clams are rolled in panko breadcrumbs to keep the coating crisp and crunchy. Can’t decide? Just order a mixed platter with shrimp, oysters, and rockfish. All are served with slaw and fries.

The Sticks Restaurant

A narrow but tidy hole-in-the-wall with galvanized tin walls in the crowded stretch of shops in Depoe Bay, the Sticks has a tightly tuned and well-executed menu of fried goodies and ice cream. The counter-service restaurant features several fish and chips baskets — salmon, halibut, cod, and shrimp beer-battered with local Rogue ale and fried to an amber bronze. The fries are thin and the tartar sauce is one of several possible dips. For an alternative, opt for a chicken or shrimp po’ boy sandwich. And even if you’re filled with fries, order at least one potato tornado on a stick. The spiralized, seasoned, bread-crumbed marvel should be the town’s signature dish.

Luna Sea Fish House and Village Fishmonger

With two locations in Yachats — north of Newport — and Seal Rock just south of it, Luna Sea is a tiny fisherman-owned bistro and fish market. Try wild-caught fish-and-chips choices like beer-battered king salmon or albacore that might be from owner Robert Anthony’s own boat. (You’ll recognize him by the wooden cutout of the gentleman in sunglasses on the Seal Rock location’s building, made by a local artist.) Halibut and lingcod sustainably sourced from ports in Alaska and elsewhere are also succulent. Plates come with hefty fries and a pleasant coleslaw, sweet with fresh apple. You’ll find pet-friendly seating in Yachats’s outdoor garden room dining area and live music at both locations for an extra helping of that coastal vibe.

In 2017, Cassie Hamilton pulled up her converted floating houseboat restaurant from Winchester Bay and moved the operation to nearby Coos Bay. Dry-docked on northbound Highway 101, the Boat attracts flocks of locals for fried oysters, hand-cut halibut and Alaskan cod, and a gloriously shrimptastic basket containing several kinds of prawns and popcorn shrimp served with a shrimp cocktail. Slaw, cottage cheese, or rice pilaf can be subbed for decent fries if preferred. Outdoor deck seating overlooks cool vintage trains and logging equipment in the Oregon Coast Historic Railway train yard next door, especially pretty while adorned with lights during the holidays.

A house boat with a wooden deck is surrounded by wooden picnic tables.

The Crazy Norwegian’s Fish and Chips

It’s simply not a trip to the South Coast without a stop at Port Orford’s The Crazy Norwegian’s Fish and Chips or so it’s been called by locals for decades, Crazy’s . Here, big summertime lunch and dinner crowds clamor for huge plates of well-fried, crispy battered lingcod served with a choice of pasta salad or slaw (be sure to try the tarragon-flecked tartar sauce). Fortunately, one of the most beautiful views on the entire coast is a quick walk away, so place an order at the takeaway window, or add your name to the list for seating and come back after admiring the sandy cove of Battle Rock Beach. Look for Port Orford-sourced rockfish tacos or all manner of cool specials in the quieter months. Don’t leave without a slice of one fruit pie, heaped with ice cream.

Woggy's Fish n Chips

A popular food truck in Gold Beach for post-charter anglers and resident beachgoers alike, Woggy’s plates up some delicious fish and hand-cut, heavily seasoned fries. Owners Ivar and Grace Southern land their own rockfish from nearby waters before the flaky white filets then make their way into fish-and-chips baskets or blackened fish tacos. Find the bright red truck parked across the street from the Gold Beach post office on a street that parallels Highway 101 in the middle of town. They take a break during the winter until the fishing gets good again in spring.

Catalyst Seafood Restaurant & Lounge

The Goergen family has been fishing the Pacific since 1955, so it was a natural choice to name their first full-service restaurant after their fishing vessel — Catalyst. For visitors to the far south of the Oregon coast, it’s one of the best bets for reliable local seafood. Located in a modest building with blue metal siding near the Port of Brookings Harbor, the restaurant has an intimate feel inside and spacious outdoor seating. Depending on what’s been landed, the fish and chips basket might contain firm and juicy albacore or flaky ling cod, available either fried or grilled. Either way, it’s piled on top of slightly spicy, seasoned fries. Shellfish lovers should go for clam strips, shrimp, or plump oysters in their baskets. It may not all be locally harvested, but it sure does hit the spot.
