For the past 100 years, Ponus Yacht Club has been a staple in the Stamford Harbor since it was founded in 1911. The Rippowam River flows into the Long Island Sound and on the eastern bank of this inlet is the Ponus Yacht Club.

Nearby is Kosciuszko Park, a 7-acre park located on the waterfront that features hiking trails, playgrounds and baseball fields. Stamford Harbor has been a popular boating location since the 1640s due to its proximity to New York. Downtown Stamford through the years has grown tremendously offering popular entertainment opportunities such as live theater, television studios, movie theaters, parks, and top-rated restaurants.

Directions:   The Ponus Yacht club can be reached via driving or mass transit.   Driving: Take I-95 to Exit 7. If you are coming from the South make a right onto Washington Blvd. If you are coming from the North then make a left onto Washington Blvd. Continue on to Dyke Lane. Make a right onto Bateman Way. About 400 feet ahead is the parking lot for the Yacht club.   Mass Transit: From Grand Central Station take the Metro North Railroad New Haven Line towards New Haven. Take it two exists and get off at Stamford. From here it’s about a 15-minute walk. From the station head south on Washington Blvd toward Station Pl. Turn right onto Harbor Point Road. Turn left to stay on Harbor Point Road. Turn right onto Pacific St. The port on will be on the left.

Ponus Yacht Club was founded in 1911 and has been a staple on the western branch of the Stamford harbor for over 100 years. The club has matured over the years but the basic premise is the same. Ponus is a place for hard working middle class men, women and their families to socialize and share their enthusiasm for boating, fishing, and the current events of the day.

The club boasts a waterfront deck for lunch or an afternoon cocktail – the bar opens at 11:00 AM every day of the year. During the boating season, we serve lunch every day of the week and we are happy to cater and set up lunches to go. Dinner is available year round Thursday to Saturday evenings with a menu that changes weekly, highlighting seasonal specials.

We also offer a range of catering options in our Banquet Room, which holds 100 people with the dance floor and 130 without. Ponus has hosted weddings, birthdays, showers and business meetings. With a wonderful harbor view and a spacious deck (BBQ available), our Banquet Room is an excellent venue for special events. Our Banquet Menu offers many options to tailor a menu to your taste.

If you’re traveling by boat, we have dock and dine slips available to accommodate yachts as large as 100 feet and we offer transient docks for non-members at $2.50/foot.

Great place for lunch diner and sunsets on the water looking west. Bands on most weekends. Great lobster rolls, burgers and specials.

Great little hidden gem, awesome deck with amazing views of the water. Good food and drink and live music on Fridays!

Avoid the fried food - it's obviously frozen and has that previously frozen taste and texture to it. Other than that the food is generally fresh and tasty. The sandwiches here in particular are very good and the portions are generous. I highly recommend the Bisteka Panini sandwich which had steak, provolone cheese, sautéed mushrooms and onions on a rustic Italian bread. It comes with a choice of sides. I ate half and took the other half home with me. Also, they had buckets of steamed little neck clams that were in their broth with a little touch of garlic added. These were very tasty. Helpful hint: Don't wait for the waitress to put in your drink order, they are slow as molasses. Go to the bar and get your own. They are even slower serving the deck than they are in the dining room, and you can easily pile up empty bottles and glasses while you are waiting to be served.

Fantastic, no frills place to drink a cold beer, eat great food, and hang out on the deck. Everyone, including the staff are laid back and friendly. This is becoming an extension of my own backyard. My wife and I love it here and have already spent so many nights this past summer since moving to the area.
