Jimmy Green Marine is a family business, owned and run by the Green family. There are two stores situated close together – our Clothing Store which is on the main street and our Chandlery Store and mail order headquarters, which is up behind the central village car park.

At our Jimmy Green Clothing Store, the mainstays of our clothing range are sailing gear, outdoor and leisure wear. We feature brands such as Helly Hansen, Salomon, Crewsaver, Reef, Merrell, Havaianas, Chatham, Dudes, Brakeburn, Lazy Jacks, Roxy, Joe Browns and Weird Fish.

Jimmy Green Marine started out as Mail Order Chandlers in 1981 and has continually evolved from a business based around boat shows and boat jumbles to an innovative, custom build, ecommerce website service. The Jimmy Green Team are available on the telephone, via e-mail and in store to help with orders and technical advice, backed up by a comprehensive online knowledge centre.

Our Chandlery Store is the hub of our splicing, rigging and sewing operation and houses an extensive range of complementary equipment for yacht and dinghy sailing.

Team Jimmy Green is an umbrella for the Jimmy Green crew that make up the Rigging, Sewing, Sales and Despatch Teams. All these teams work together at our clothing store and chandlery workshop to produce our custom ropes, rigging and safety products, provide excellent custom service and send out all the online orders.

Staff that seem to care about the customer at the end of the phone

Recently needed some chain markers at very short notice. None of the usual suspect chandleries were willing or able to help ("our couriers can't deliver by tomorrow" or they didn't hold stock and would have to order from the maufactuer). Jimmy Green staff all tried to help, worked together, and while explaining that they couldn't guarantee delivery, recommended a delivery method, which did the job. The point is that they appeared to care, and made an effort. Highly recommended!

Great customer service

Great customer service. Had to replace a stanchion and base and needed a perfect direct replacement. Both Iain and Jim spent loads of time measuring what they had in stock and found me a direct match (just have to polish the old ones to match the shiny new one !). Would highly recommend.

Quality control missing

I ordered two Navy Blue mooring warps and received black ones. This tells me all I need to know about their quality control and so they are the last people I would order safety equipment from. It is impossible to get through on the telephone and, despite Government encouragement to all shops to open up, their store remains closed. Distinctly unimpressed.

Fast standing rigging replacement service

My standing rigging was due for renewal. I took the standing rigging off, and sent it to Jimmy Green Marine. I received an estimate within 24 hours of the rigging reaching them. I accepted the estimate and paid. Within 24 hours I was notified that the job was complete and my new rigging was on its way back to me. In less than another 24 hours the rigging was back with me. The whole process was completed within one week - the longest part was my despatch company delivering the old rigging to Jimmy Green Marine. The new rigging is complete right down to new split pins for the fittings, and looks great.

Jimmy Green posted an incorrect gypsy…

Jimmy Green posted an incorrect gypsy to us in Fiji and wouldn’t accept it back as we tried it prior to realising it was incorrect for our chain (even though they advised us which one we needed based on our last gypsy) - as obviously you would have to. The Lofrans casting is clearly totally different to the one required however they refused to accept the return qnd quite frankly, the representative we emailed (and chased and chased as he was so slow in getting back to us) didn’t comprehend technical tolerances and casting differences. We’re £500 out of pocket for a useless Lofrans gypsy that the seller won’t accept back. Dreadful customer service.

Level of fitness

3 meals a day, prepared by our cook. Some days we will visit local cafes. Usually for breakfast we have milk porridge /scrambled eggs/ cottage cheese/ pancakes and other snacks, for lunch – sandwiches (bread, cheese, sausages, jams, butter, vegetables and so on), for dinner – a salad and a hot meat dish. Drinks – black and green tea, instant coffee.

July-August temperature range: +15 °C to +30 °C. Rainy days are possible.

We use specially prepared 4WD cars, one of them is a legendary Russian 4WD UAZ Bukhanka (Loaf). This car was not designed for comfort, but it is able to overcome any off-road obstacle and can be repaired in every village. We have upgraded the salon and installed modern seats for our guests.

Fee: 1.255 EURO from Barnaul, Altai krai Deposit: 350 EURO per person
