The Ultimate Disney Yacht Club Review + Insider Tips

February 8, 2021 //  by  Kimberly Jones //   2 Comments

Disney’s Yacht Club opened back on November 5, 1990. Its sister location is the Beach Club located right next to it. The Yacht Club is a beautifully themed resort with nautical and beach themes. We are going to tell you everything you need to know about this wonderful resort in our Ultimate Disney Yacht Club Review + Insider Tips!

There are so many great aspects to this resort such as its location, pools, transportation options, and amenities. If you are thinking about staying at the Yacht Club, read on to find out if this resort is a good fit for you!

Where Is The Yacht Club At Disney Located?

One of the best reasons to stay at Disney’s Yacht Club is the fantastic location! This resort is within walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios . There are also several different transportation options to all of the parks, Disney Springs , and the water parks .

The Yacht Club is directly next to the Beach Club, and they share the pool. Now you not only have access to all of the Yacht Club’s restaurants and amenities, but you also have access to the Beach Club’s!

The Yacht and Beach Club are right across the water from Disney’s Boardwalk Resort . It is a short walk away to enjoy everything the Boardwalk has to offer! There are some fun restaurants, bars, and shops to explore there.

The Yacht Club is also very close to the Swan and Dolphin Hotels. There is a pathway to take you right over to these hotels for some extra fun as well!

Not only are there other resorts within walking distance of the Yacht Club, but there are also resorts that are a quick Skyliner trip away! Taking the Skyliner from Epcot’s International Gateway, you can visit Disney’s Riviera Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort, Pop Century , and Art of Animation!

Disney’s Yacht Club is in a very prime location with quick access to two of the parks and multiple resorts!

Checking in to The Yacht Club At Disney

Checking into the Yacht Club is extremely easy, and it doesn’t even require you to visit the front desk! The day of your reservation, you can check in to the resort from the My Disney Experience app . The app will let you know when your room is ready and what your room number will be! If you have magic bands or even your phone , you can head straight to your room and unlock the door.

Of course, you can always go the old school route and check-in at the front desk. All the cast members at Disney’s Yacht Club are extremely friendly and accommodating! A great tip to keep in mind is you can always see if there are any upgrades available for your room. We were able to get a free upgrade from a standard view to a water view!

The lobby is also absolutely amazing here. It has a very adventurous and nautical theme to it. You can find everything you need right in this area, such as the restaurant, lounge, bell services, and the front desk.

Right outside the backside of the lobby, there is a boardwalk that will lead you to the boat transportation to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

Transportation Options From The Yacht Club

We love all of the transportation options the Yacht Club has to offer, and we’re sure you will too! As mentioned before, there are walking paths to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The Epcot walking path is very short and will get you to the International Gateway in about 5 – 10 minutes. The entrance at International Gateway is on the back side of Epcot by World Showcase .

The walking path to Hollywood Studios is a little bit longer than the Epcot one. This one can take 20 minutes or more. However, there is boat transportation to Hollywood Studios if you don’t want to walk! You can find boat transportation right behind the lobby that will take you to Epcot or Hollywood Studios.

If you don’t want to walk or take the boat to Hollywood Studios, you can always take the Skyliner! There is a Skyliner location right outside International Gateway that will take you first to Disney’s Riviera Resort, and then to the Skyliner central hub at Caribbean Beach Resort. From here you will get off the Skyliner and get in line for a different Skyliner track to take you to Hollywood Studios.

So there are so many options to get to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, but what about the other parks? Disney has bus transportation from the Yacht Club to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney Spring, and the water parks.

If you plan on spending a lot of time at either Epcot or Hollywood Studios, the Yacht Club is one of the best resorts to stay at.

Disney Yacht Club Room Review

There are several different room options at the Yacht Club. There is Standard View, Water View, Garden or Woods View, and 2 Bedroom Suites. All of the view rooms also have club level options.

I was able to stay in a Water View room. The room was absolutely delightful! It had a nautical theme to match the rest of the resort, and it was quite spacious. The room had two queen beds and a pull out couch, so it was able to sleep up to 5 guests. We only had 4 guests in our room, but I could imagine the pull out bed might make the room feel a little more cramped.

The room had large closets with space to hang clothes, and a big sink and bathroom area with two sinks. The shower had a sliding glass door, which I prefer over a curtain.

I really liked that this room had wood flooring compared to carpet. It added to the nautical theme very well. The room also had a balcony that looked over the back entrance of the lobby and the water. Overall, the room was very nice, and I thoroughly enjoyed its set up!

Yacht Club rooms average in price anywhere between $400 to over $3000 per night depending on what room you stay in and what time of the year you visit.

Dining Options At The Yacht Club

There are some really great and delicious dining options at the Yacht Club. This resort has two restaurants, two lounges, a quick service restaurant, a restaurant located in between the Yacht and Beach Club, and a pool bar.

The two restaurants at the Yacht Club are Ale & Compass and Yachtsman Steakhouse. Yachtsman Steakhouse is currently temporarily unavailable, but Ale & Compass is open for breakfast and dinner. This restaurant follows the nautical theme with a relaxing atmosphere and some delicious coastal eats.

The Ale & Compass Lounge is located adjacent to the restaurant. Here, you can order off the lounge menu and even the restaurant menu. This lounge can fill up quickly at night though, so make sure to grab a seat early if you want to eat or drink here.

The other lounge, Crew’s Cup Lounge,  is right next to Yachtsman Steakhouse and is also temporarily unavailable. We hope that the lounge and restaurant will open soon!

The quick service location shares a spot with the Yacht Club’s gift shop. When you enter the Market at Ale & Compass, on the right is the gift shop and on the left is the quick service restaurant. They serve coffee, sandwiches, pastries, and more. This is a great place to stop for a quick bite to eat to or from the parks!

Beaches and Cream Soda Shop is the hidden gem of the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts! This restaurant is located in between the two resorts and serves some wonderful food! They are open for lunch and dinner and they serve sandwiches and burgers. My favorite is their Grilled Cheese sandwich, its delicious!

However, save room for the best part of this restaurant. The ice cream! They have shakes, floats, and sundaes! You can’t go wrong with whatever you choose. If you’re feeling really brave though, try the Kitchen Sink sundae. This sundae is meant for 4 or more people, and includes every topping and a whole can of whipped cream! I have attempted it twice, and I still haven’t been able to finish it. Maybe you can!

Hurricane Hanna’s Grill is the pool bar located right next to Stormalong Bay. They have a few food items and some refreshing drinks.

If you’ve tried everything at the Yacht Club and want something different, head over to the Beach Club! Here you can find even more restaurants and tasty eats!

Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club Resort

Yacht Club Swimming Pools

The Yacht and Beach Club have hands down the best swimming pools on Disney World property. It’s considered more of a small water park than swimming pools because it’s so large!

Stormalong Bay is 3 acres of refreshing fun! It includes a large sand bottomed pool and a lazy river. There are waterfalls, a volleyball net in the pool, and a water slide.

This water slide is no joke. You climb a large shipwrecked ship all the way to the top and then slide down this long and exciting slide! Stormalong Bay even has a “beach” area with sand to play with! After all that fun, go relax in one of 3 whirlpool spas.

Right by the entrance to the water slide is a small kid play area with a mini water slide. This is a great introduction to the big slide for nervous kids!

Don’t need all the excitement of Stormalong Bay? There are also 3 leisure pools at the Yacht and Beach Club for guests to enjoy.

If you plan on staying at the Yacht Club, you must plan a resort day into your schedule! Make some time for this awesome mini water park and relax away from the parks! You won’t regret it.

Amenities At The Yacht Club Resort

There are so many fun amenities and things to do at Disney’s Yacht Club. When it comes to activities, there are fishing excursions, a tennis court, a sand volleyball court, jogging trails, motorized boat rentals, an arcade, and a fitness center. Just ask the front desk if you’d like to book a fishing excursion or rent a boat to go out on the water!

The Yacht Club even has a spa! Ship Shape Massage Salon is a full service spa that can do massages, facials, hairstyling, and nails. We all need a relaxing day every once and awhile! Why not enjoy the spa on your day off from the parks?

The resort also has campfire activities, movies under the stars, and a Pirate Adventure Cruise (which is unfortunately temporarily unavailable at the moment). The Yacht Club is within walking distance of the Fantasia Gardens & Fairways Miniature Golf. Go show off your mini golf skills at this adorably themed course!

This resort really has a lot of fun things for you and your family to enjoy! You will definitely want to take a day away from the parks to enjoy this amazing resort!

Overall Thoughts On Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

We at Disney Trippers absolutely love Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. The whole place is incredibly peaceful and beautiful. It has the perfect mix of being family friendly and adult friendly with lots of things to do. So whether you’re traveling with a bunch of adults or your kids, everyone will enjoy it!

Most everything is in super close distance to this resort. The only time you will have to take the bus is to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney Spring, or the water parks. The other parks and some resorts are really easy to get to, making this a top notch location for a resort.

If you have a day off from the parks, make sure to enjoy all of the amenities the Yacht Club has to offer. You could spend a whole day just having fun at the resort! You definitely don’t want to miss out on this place!

We stayed at the Disney Yacht Club the last time we were at DW. We loved it. The staff was outstanding. It was an adult family vacation, and due to different work schedules, some family members had to fly in at different times. The staff accommodated each one and made them feel as if they already knew them. We loved the location as we could walk to different locations. We tried the Kitchen Sink sundae, but couldn’t finish it. We sure had fun trying. We actually took one day to enjoy the resort and were not disappointed. We spent time in the swimming pool, which was amazing with the sand bottom. Lunch was an delicious lobster roll and we finished off at the steakhouse. I would certainly recommend this resort to all who are considering a trip to Disney World.

Disney’s Yacht Club: the Complete Guide

Yacht Club

Disclosure: This Disney Yacht Club overview page contains affiliate links. Read  full Disclosure Policy .

The older sister to the Beach Club Resort , the Disney Yacht Club rests on the Crescent Lake, completing the trio of resort areas on the boardwalk area.

While the Yacht Club shares some features and amenities with the Beach Club , it is a mistake to think that they are one and the same.

Created to be slightly more upscale, the Disney Yacht Club has its own unique flavor that sets it apart from its sister.

Resort Location

Contact information, disney’s country club – the disney yacht club.

While the architecture is generally the same, the subtle gray color sets the Yacht Club apart from the Beach Club . This shade also sets the upscale tone. The nautical theme is still present, however the focus is more on boatmen and sailing rather than the beach itself. Jewel tones match the variety of woods in the lobby and hallways, giving the Yacht Club the feel of a fancy ship rather than a beach resort. Throughout the resort, the décor emphasizes sailing and sea voyages, a more serious side to the ocean.

The Disney Yacht Club shares some facilities with the Beach Club , like access to the pools and fitness center. However, it has plenty of its own charms that are not to be ignored. You will also love taking advantage of the proximity to the boat rentals, which fits with the overall resort theme. Don’t forget to get out on the Disney BoardWalk and enjoy the sights!

The resort is comparable in size to the Beach Club (without the Villas), and is attached to one of the convention centers Disney has on site. This makes the Yacht Club an ideal local for a convention, large business meeting, or a wedding. Packages are available to create the perfect experience for a large gathering, and Disney is prepared whether it’s for work or pleasure.

A Voyage Through Time – The History of the Disney Yacht Club

Image of Crescent Lake at Disney Yacht Club

The Disney Yacht Club was the first of the resorts to grace Crescent Lake, opening November 5, 1990, shortly before the Beach Club later that month. Robert Stern, who had a passion for replicating the vintage American vacation experience, designed both the Yacht and Beach Clubs. Eventually, Stern would go on to add the BoardWalk Inn to this resort region, rounding it out in both theme and area. Altogether, these resorts comprise the main Epcot resort area, as well as creating their own small world of a historic New England summer.

The Yacht and Beach Clubs are opposite sides of the marine coin – one focusing on the navigation of the sea while the other fun times at the beach. Both are full of the Disney magic we know and love!

Anchor’s Away! Disney Yacht Club Resort Amenities

Rooms & suites, accommodations & benefits.

At the Disney Yacht Club, you’ll find plenty to choose from when it comes to the room selection . Decide between a water, garden, or standard view depending on your preference. Additionally, for a bit more, you can book some of these offerings with Club Level perks. The Yacht Club also has two-bedroom suites if you need something with just a bit more space.

Standard rooms and suites all have the same basic amenities:

  • Internet – Free WiFi Service
  • Telephone with voicemail
  • Coffee Maker
  • Iron & Ironing Board
  • In-Room Safe
  • Mini-refrigerator

Such conveniences are typical of a Disney resort stay, making it easy to settle in and feel at home.

At the Club Level, you can take advantage of these extra benefits:

  • Evening turndown
  • Secured key access to the club-level lounge, serving refreshments 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily
  • Access to Concierge service at the Regatta Club
  • Complimentary health club access
  • Personalized Front Desk and Guest Services

These can be particularly nice, especially if you are planning to hang out at the resort throughout your trip. That extra breakfast option doesn’t hurt either!

Room Layouts

In the standard rooms, regardless of view, you could find a number of configurations. Options include two queen beds, two queen beds and a day bed, one queen bed and a twin-size sleeper chair plus a day bed, one king bed, or one king bed and a day bed. What is great about having so many options is you can take into account the type and size of your party. From there, choose the room that best fits your needs.

Standard rooms are “all in one,” meaning the bedroom and living areas are in the same space. With that in mind, take the time to determine what fits your needs. Just traveling as a couple? Spring for the king bed rather than dealing with the extra space of the extra queen. Only have one child? The single bed and day bed would be better for you. Two kids? How much is it worth to you to give them their own places to sleep?

Two bedroom suites have a king bed in one room and two queen beds in the other. Additionally, there is a queen-sized sleeper sofa if you need just a little more space. This is a great way to get your whole party into one room while still providing privacy to everyone. Multiple bedrooms and a living area also means multiple TVs, which can be a godsend when traveling with kids (or the in-laws). We suggest piling all the kids in your group into the room with the queens, leaving the adults to the privacy of their own areas.

Stormalong Bay

Stormalong Bay is like a miniature water park, complete with a 230-foot water slide, lazy river, and whirlpool section. Oh, did I mention that the slide is shaped like a shipwreck? It’s so cool, and a great spot to snap a photo!

In addition to the amazing pool spaces, there’s actual sand at the bottom of the pool to make it feel like you’re really on the shore! A shallow section of the pool also holds a bit of extra sand for kids to play and build. This is great for your kiddos who don’t really want to get all the way in the pool, but want to join in the fun. Feel free to bring your own buckets and sand toys! Stormalong Bay is heated year-round, so no need to worry that it will feel like the ocean. Even the hot tubs are like their own personal oases, hidden throughout the pool complex like natural hot springs.

If you want to secure yourself a spot at this popular pool, you can rent a poolside cabana . Splurge a little on the extra privacy and comfort! These cabanas have their own padded furniture, television, resort phone, plush towels, and a mini-fridge stocked with complimentary soda and water. You also have access to a small safe for personal belongings you may not want to leave sitting out. While the cabana doesn’t come with food, you can order food to the cabana for an extra charge.

Know Before You Go

Stormalong Bay, sadly, is one of the worst kept secrets on Disney property. It is one of the most popular pools at Disney World , and can get crowded quickly. Part of the reason for this is that Stormalong Bay is shared between the Yacht and Beach Clubs. While Stormalong Bay certainly is big enough to accommodate both resorts, guests tend to hang around the pool for a while. Some guests even spend the whole day (or multiple days) at this inland beach. Moral of the story – if you want to go to Stormalong Bay, make sure you get there early. Or rent a cabana.

Also, make sure you have your MagicBand or phone readily available when headed to the Bay. You will need it to both get into the pool are and prove that you are a Yacht Club guest. This pool is so beloved that guests from other resorts try to sneak in. Especially during peak seasons, Cast Members may ask to scan your MagicBand to be sure you are actually staying at the Beach Club. Please don’t be offended if this happens to you – the Cast Members are just doing their jobs, and it is really to your benefit. It keeps other guests from taking your space!

Leisure Pools

Swimming pool at Disney Yacht Club

If you’re looking for somewhere a bit quieter to relax, you might want to try one of the three leisure pools. The Yacht and Beach Clubs each have their own, and the Beach Club Villas have one as well. While each pool is designed to serve the guests in those areas, all the pools at both the Yacht and Beach Clubs (including the Villas) are open to all Yacht and Beach Club guests.

Ship Shape – Massage, Spa, Salon, and Fitness

If you’re looking for a place to spoil yourself, or just get a good work out, you want Ship Shape . A massage, salon, and fitness center, it covers all your physical needs. Located at the Yacht Club, but available to all guests, Ship Shape is a great way to keep up with your workout routine while you’re on vacation. You can use the fitness center at any time of day or night, just use your MagicBand to swipe yourself in.

You should also make time for the incredible spa services, including massages and facials. Get a little “me” time with a Swedish massage for yourself, or indulge in a romantic massage for two. Add a reflexology foot massage, aromatherapy, or extra time to any massage appointment for a bit extra.

Right next store to the spa, you can find the salon. Haircuts and other treatments are available for men, women, and children. They even have a special session designed just for the kids to make them look like a Disney character ! The salon also offers a wide variety of nail services, whether you need a touch up or want to get your nails done for a special night out.

If you are planning to use either the spa or salon, you’ll need to book in advance. Call (407) 939-7727 for spa appointments and (407) 939-4526 for the salon. Only guests 18 and older can book the appointments, although younger guests can absolutely use the facilities (while accompanied by an adult). Please note, if your plans change, you need to call to cancel within six hours of your appointment window to avoid paying for the full price of your service.

Those that choose to travel with their own transportation, do have to pay the overnight parking fee for each night of your stay. At the Yacht Club, the fee is $25 a night or $33 for valet. The parking charge goes on the bill at the end of your vacation, so you don’t have to worry about paying it every day.

A major benefit to paying this fee is that you don’t have to also pay to park at the theme parks , which can save you both time and money. There’s something nice about having your own car versus waiting on Disney transportation, so don’t fret about bringing your own car. Growing up, that’s what we always did, and the benefits definitely outweigh the spending.

Sports and Recreation at the Disney Yacht Club

The Disney Yacht Club shares many of its facilities with the Beach Club, and that includes its recreation offerings. While that does mean double the guests trying to do the same activities, there’s enough offered that you won’t feel overcrowded!

I also suggest trying some of the fun surrounding the Yacht Club – there’s lots to see and do over on the BoardWalk side, as well as over by the Swan & Dolphin resorts. All of these areas are a quick walk or boat ride away, so you don’t have to worry about transportation.

Pirate Adventure Cruise

For the kids in your group, consider booking a Pirate Cruise! With the massive rise in popularity of the Disney pirate characters, these lake cruises are perfect for little adventurers.

Kiddos ages 4-12 can join a pirate crew and set sail across Crescent Lake and Epcot park’s World Showcase Lagoon. Departing from the Bayside Marina, right next to the Yacht Club, your little sailors will hear the tale “The Legend of the Albatross” while they follow clues to find a hidden treasure. At the end of the trip, the triumphant buccaneers will split the pirate bounty and enjoy a feast (snack) together!

If you’ve booked yourself something at the spa or the salon, this is a great way for your kids to be entertained and try something new, enabling you to relax and enjoy your treatment. If you have littler ones, we suggest that you make sure they are accompanied by an older child from your party.

Evening Activities

Why let the fun end when the sun goes down? Like many other resorts, the Disney Yacht Club has fun family-focused activities in the evening to help you wind down your day. Enjoy roasting marshmallows over a campfire before watching a movie under the stars!

Located on a lawn outdoors near the Beach Club volleyball courts, you’ll find Cast Members waiting for you with the materials for your delicious snack before showing a family-friendly Disney film . Sometimes the film is shown in the Solarium depending on the weather.

Traditional Sports

Want to get out and enjoy the sunshine? The Yacht Club makes available plenty of more traditional sports opportunities for all the active members of your group.

Fun for the whole family, rent a surrey bike , clattering along and ringing your bell all along the boardwalk. Enjoy a round of tennis or the jogging trails for some light exercise. Runners will also love just taking a few laps around the boardwalk, as it connects the main Epcot resort areas. This is a great way to get moving in the morning, without having to travel particularly far. If you’re up early enough, you’ll get some fantastic pictures of the BoardWalk , Yacht Club, and Beach Club!

Right by the Tidal Pool, there are a few beach volleyball courts if you’re looking for a friendly game. These are first come, first serve (no pun intended).

You can even go on a guided bass-fishing excursion if you’re dying to get out on the water. Head out onto Crescent Lake, and see what’s biting!

Boat Rentals

disney yacht club secrets

Even if you’re not a big fisherman, you can rent motorized boats of various sizes to go out and enjoy Crescent Lake. Speed around the lake in the Sea Raycers, explore the sights in the slightly larger Boston Whaler, or take the whole family on a slow and smooth pontoon ride.

The Sea Racyers are particularly great, as they are light and fast. Built for two passengers, you’ll have a blast racing your family members
just be careful of other boats! Before I could even drive I car, I was able to captain a Sea Racyer, and I loved every minute!

Transportation Options

For airline guests, the best option is Disney’s Magical Express (at least until they finish building the train !). On my most recent trip, I remembered all over again why I love this free service. It’s so nice just to get off the plane, grab your bags, and head straight down to the motor coach. Disney did just recently release that Magical Express will end in 2022, so if you’re travelling any time soon, use it before it’s gone!

Disney Magical Express bus

Like all Disney resorts , the Yacht Club also uses the Disney bus transportation, taking guests from the resort to the parks and Disney Springs. The busses won’t directly take you to other resorts, but if you head to Disney Springs you can catch a bus to a different resort. You’ll find the Yacht Club bus stop right outside the main lobby and car loop to the left. This is the only bus stop for the Yacht Club, so if your room is a bit further away you might want to account for the walking time when you’re headed to the bus. While the Yacht and Beach Club each have their own bus stop at the resort, they will take the same bus from the parks, so make sure you’re getting off at the right place.

Of course, the Yacht Club is so close to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios that it might just be faster to walk. In fact, if you’re trying to do anything other than walk to Epcot, you’re going to end up costing yourself time! In terms of the Studios, it can be a bit of a hike, so there are a few other options you might want to take.

disney yacht club secrets

Since the Yacht Club is on the water, you have access to Disney’s water transportation . These boats are a fun and relaxing option, particularly if you have the time just to enjoy the ride.

There are several stops along the boardwalk ring, making it easy to cross the lake if you don’t want to walk. This boat will take you on to Epcot as well, but again walking is the most direct route. You can also take a water taxi over to the Swan and Dolphin then to Hollywood Studios. This transportation option does move at a more leisurely pace, so if you’re in a hurry you might want to choose something else. Otherwise, skip the bus and board a boat!

disney yacht club secrets

Yacht Club guests have easy access to the newest travel method, the Disney Skyliners . A Disney Skyliner station is right at the International Gateway to Epcot, which is the back entrance of the park. Scooch on over from the resort and you’ll be off through the air! This is a great way to get to Hollywood Studios or to the other resorts on the line – Riviera Resort and Caribbean Beach.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is part of the Epcot Resort area. When getting off of Florida’s I-4, you’ll want to exit on to Epcot Center Drive before turning on to East Buena Vista Drive. The resort will be on the right, past the BoardWalk resort. Make sure you don’t turn into the Beach Club by mistake!

While you can trust your GPS to take you there, it might be worth looking at the map ahead of time. Occasionally, the GPS will take you to the incorrect entrance.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort VIP Top Tips

Yacht Club

While room requests are not guaranteed , at the Yacht Club ask to be closest to the lobby to limit the amount of walking needed to the pool area and transportation to the Theme Parks.

The Yacht Club has a beautiful wedding gazebo in its gardens. From the balconies of some of the Garden View and Water View rooms, you can overlook this area and glimpse a Disney wedding.

At Disney’s Yacht Club Resort , all rooms have a full balcony or patio.

Enjoy the close proximity to Epcot’s World Showcase . While there is a boat launch available at Epcot, you can get there faster by walking.

You can access Disney’s Hollywood Studios by boat. You may also enjoy a brisk walk around the BoardWalk down to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In general, you may find the boat ride shorter than walking to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

These resorts offer one of the best pools on Walt Disney World property. While separate, the Yacht & Beach Club Resorts share the pool area. There is a “shipwreck” that offers the entry point to the main water slide. Some areas of the pool have a sandy bottom.

These resort hotels are located near the BoardWalk, offering a short walk to additional restaurants and nightlife that do not require park admission.

Sometimes Disney’s bus transportation may share buses with the other resort hotels in the Epcot area around the BoardWalk. If you find yourself stopping at multiple stops, you may want to get off at the first stop and just walk the rest of the way. This is sometimes quicker than stopping at each resort hotel if the bus loop is being shared with multiple resorts.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Review (Is it worth it?)

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is one of the most beautiful and convenient hotels in all of Walt Disney World. With its classy design, enormous pool, and prime location, it’s easy to see why the Yacht Club at Disney World is such a highly sought after place to stay.

My family and I have visited numerous hotels on Disney property, but the Yacht Club always keeps us coming back for more. We love the close proximity to Disney’s Boardwalk, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios.

The multiple transportation options are a huge plus, especially for those who don’t like to solely rely on Disney buses. And of course we have to mention the Yacht Club’s pool, Stormalong Bay. This elaborate resort swimming area is arguably the best pool at the Walt Disney World Resort!

If you’re still not quite sold on the Yacht Club at Disney World or if you would like more information, continue reading below. In this post, we will cover everything you need to know about this deluxe Disney resort , including the activities, restaurants, and rooms available at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

(This post may contain affiliate links. If you make a purchase through one of these links, I may receive a small compensation at no extra cost to you. Please see my disclosure policy at the bottom of this page for more details.)

Yacht Club Restaurants

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is full of all different types of restaurants. Since this hotel shares dining options with its sister resorts, you’ll find even more places to eat within a short walk of your room.

blue walls and club chairs with sign reading Ale and Compass Lounge

These are the Yacht Club restaurants you will find just a short stroll away:

  • Ale and Compass – sit-down restaurant in the Yacht Club that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner (also available to-go)
  • The Market at Ale and Compass – quick service restaurant at Yacht Club with to-go items and menu options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Yachtsman Steakhouse – fine dining restaurant at the Yacht Club that is open for dinner
  • Crew’s Cup Lounge – bar at the Yacht Club that features a small dinner menu and full bar
  • Cape May Cafe – offers a character meal breakfast buffet and sit-down dinner with no characters
  • Beach Club Marketplace – features to-go items and menu options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Beaches and Cream – available for lunch and dinner with reservations highly recommended
  • Martha’s Vineyard – offers appetizers and full bar
  • Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill – pool restaurant with full bar and lunch/dinner options

Furthermore, the Yacht Club is located just a short walk away from Disney’s Boardwalk , where you’ll find additional restaurants and bars.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is home to the most popular pool on Disney property. It’s such a hit that you’ll find cast members handing out wristbands at the entrance so that only hotel guests can enter.

pirate ship water slide

The main pool, Stormalong Bay, features a large sand bottom swimming area that’s super shallow and great for toddlers and little kids. There’s also a lazy river that’s a fan favorite in my household.

Guests can also enjoy other large swimming areas at Stormalong Bay, including an activities section where you’ll find games like pool volleyball. Stormalong Bay offers a large waterslide as well as a smaller slide that empties into a shallow pool.

empty pool and clubhouse at Yacht Club

In addition to Stormalong Bay, the Yacht Club in Disney World features a “quiet” pool that is seldom busy. This is a great spot to relax or swim laps.

Rooms

My family and I love the nautical decor and ambience of the Yacht Club guest rooms. Additionally, we appreciate that the rooms offer full balconies. In our post on Disney’s Beach Club vs Yacht Club , you’ll read about why these balconies are a major pro for Yacht Club compared to its sister resort.

toilet room, shower, and vanity and Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club features standard rooms and club level rooms. If you book a room with Club Level benefits, you get access to the Regatta Club. Here, you’ll find food and beverages offered at certain times throughout the day.

2 Queen beds and day bed at Yacht Club

Guest rooms at the Yacht Club come with views of the lake, pool, garden, or hotel rooftop/parking lot. These rooms typically feature 1 king bed or 2 queens. Some of them also offer a daybed. This means that if you book a room with 2 queens plus a daybed, you can sleep a family of five!

Prices at Yacht Club

Since Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is classified as a deluxe hotel at Disney World, you’ll notice that the prices are higher than at some of the other hotels. This is because the Yacht Club offers deluxe room space, extra amenities, and a prime location.

We will explain all the significance of all of these perks in more detail below, but it’s important to note that Disney’s Yacht Club truly offers a deluxe experience. The updated guest rooms feature plenty of space, including private balconies. Plus, the hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of other Disney hotels, restaurants, theme parks, and more.

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

If you would really like to experience the location, amenities, and entertainment at the Yacht Club without the hefty price tag, we suggest booking a room at the sister hotel through David’s Vacation Club Rentals. You will be blown away by the cost savings on David’s DVC rental site! We usually save hundreds of dollars per night by using this method to book a room at a deluxe resort.

Just use the cost calculator to see exactly how much a room costs at Yacht Club’s sister resort, Disney’s Beach Club Villas. These villas are located just a short walk away from the Yacht Club hotel, and they both share restaurants, pools, and activities. While you can reserve one of the villas on the official Disney website, we prefer to book through David’s DVC rental website . We have used this reputable company for years to rent timeshare points at Disney villas.

Things to Do at Disney’s Yacht Club

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort sits on the same property as two sister resorts: Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Villas. These three hotels share restaurants, activities, amenities, and entertainment options with each other.

sand bottom pool with Disney's Yacht Club in background

One of my family’s favorite things about the Yacht Club is that you don’t need to leave the property to have fun. So, if you’re looking for activities at Disney outside of the theme parks, the Yacht Club offers lots of great options. These are our favorite things to do at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort when enjoying a relaxing day at Disney:

See Epcot Fireworks

We recommend walking to the bridge that connects the Disney Boardwalk to the Yacht and Beach Club Resort to enjoy the nightly Epcot fireworks show. You can even grab some ice cream to enjoy during the presentation.

Take a Ride on the Skyliner

Since the Disney Skyliner sits just outside of Epcot’s International Gateway entrance, you can easily access it from the Yacht Club Resort. Just take the short (less than ten minutes) walk toward Epcot and hop on the Skyliner for free!

Book a fishing excursion on Crescent Lake for a truly unique experience while staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

Eat Ice Cream

Disney’s Yacht Club is home to one of our favorite WDW restaurants, Beaches and Cream . While reservations can be difficult to snag at this popular dining spot, you can access the walk-up window to order shakes and ice cream to-go.

Dine with Characters

Check out Cape May Cafe during breakfast/brunch when it becomes Minnie’s Beach Bash. Guests can meet Goofy, Minnie, and Donald while they dine at the breakfast buffet.

Float along the Lazy River

The Beach Club’s main pool, Stormalong Bay, offers many fun features. One of our favorite things to do at the pool is to grab (free) tubes to float along the lazy river.

Play Games in the Arcade

Lafferty Place Arcade offers lots of fun games for kids and adults to enjoy. This is a particularly great place to spend time at Disney World when it’s raining.

Ride the Friendship Boats

The Disney water taxi picks up visitors near the Yacht Club. You can ride this free boat to the Disney Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin Resorts, Epcot entrance, and Hollywood Studios entrance.

Build Sandcastles

Did you know that Stormalong Bay features a shallow, sand bottom pool and beach area? Kids love digging in the sand and splashing around in this section of the pool.

Make S’mores

Visit the nightly campfire to roast marshmallows during your visit. You can even purchase S’mores Kits for a few dollars.

Rent a Boat

Spend time on Crescent Lake on your own private pontoon boat. Guests can rent boats from the marina near the Yacht Club.

Disney’s Yacht Club offers a large fitness center for guests to use during their stay. Ship Shape Health Club is even open 24 hours a day, so you can squeeze in a workout at any time.

Stroll along the Disney Boardwalk

The Disney Boardwalk is full of amazing activities and entertainment options and is just a short walk away from the Yacht Club.

Play Volleyball

As you walk along the boardwalk in front of the Beach Club, you’ll notice a sand volleyball court. This is a great spot to pick up a game with friends or family. You can also often join a game of volleyball at Stormalong Bay Pool.

Enjoy an Evening Movie

Each evening, Disney Yacht Club guests can watch a movie under the stars. These family friendly movies are a great way to unwind after a long day.

Play Mini Golf

Stroll over to Fantasia Gardens and Miniature Golf Course where you’ll find two 18-hole courses. This fun spot is located near the Dolphin and Swan Resorts.

Swim Some Laps

If you’re looking for a quieter poolside experience to swim laps or relax, check out the leisure pool at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. You’ll also have access to the quiet pools at Beach Club and Beach Club Villas.

If you’re not into running or jogging on vacation, you can spend time strolling along the jogging paths at the Yacht Club. You’ll find lots of great spots to take pictures and may even catch some surprises along the way.

Join a Kid Friendly Party at the Pool

Each afternoon, Stormalong Bay hosts fun poolside activities like hula hoop competitions and limbo.

Play Tennis

Guests can find tennis courts near the Yacht Club’s quiet pool.

Zoom Down Waterslides

Stormalong Bay features two separate water slides for guests to enjoy. The main waterslide stretches from the pirate ship and across the Beach Club boardwalk to the main pool.

You’ll also find a smaller slide that’s perfect for toddlers and small kids at the entrance to the main water slide.

Book a Fireworks Cruise

Take in the sights and sounds of the Epcot fireworks show from your pontoon boat on Crescent Lake.

Transportation

As mentioned above, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort sits in a prime location in the center of all the magic at WDW. If you’re planning to visit one of the theme parks, you’ll be happy to know that several of them are just a super short walk or ride away.

hotel lobby with seating areas

These are our preferred ways to get from Disney’s Yacht Club to other places in Walt Disney World:

  • To Magic Kingdom – You can access the Disney buses in front of the hotel. The ride to Magic Kingdom should take 15-20 minutes.
  • To Epcot – Exit the back of Yacht Club (toward Crescent Lake) and turn left. Epcot sits just under a ten minute walk away!
  • To Hollywood Studios – You have several options for getting to Hollywood Studios. We find the quickest option *usually* is walking. Hollywood Studios sits just a 15 minute walk away from the Yacht Club. You can also ride a Friendship Boat to Hollywood Studios. However, by the time you wait on the boat to make stops, this method can take longer than walking. You could also walk toward Epcot to catch the Disney Skyliner. With this method, you should be able to reach Hollywood Studios in around 25 minutes.
  • To Animal Kingdom – You can hop on one of the Disney buses to get to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. This is roughly a ten-minute ride.
  • To Disney’s Boardwalk – You can make the five-minute walk around Crescent Lake to easily reach the Disney Boardwalk. Guests can also take the Friendship Boat from the Yacht Club lighthouse and ride across the lake to the Boardwalk.
  • To Disney Springs – You can take a bus to Disney Springs, which typically takes 15-20 minutes.

Is Disney’s Yacht Club Worth It?

Since Disney’s Yacht Club may be my personal favorite resort in all of WDW , I would definitely say it’s worth the cost! I love the classy guest rooms and bathrooms with their nautical decor.

The lobby seems to be quieter and calmer than that at other resorts, and the cast members are super friendly and helpful. My family and I enjoy the food at all the restaurants on site, and we appreciate the ability to easily walk from the Yacht Club to the Beach Club’s dining options.

pin for Disney's Yacht Club Resort

The close proximity to Epcot makes the Yacht Club an ideal place to stay since there’s no rush to get to the park in the morning or back “home” at the end of a long day. Plus, you enter and exit through the International Gateway entrance to Epcot (near World Showcase), so the lines to enter are basically nonexistent.

Additionally, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is just a short walk, boat ride, or Skyliner ride away. And if you feel like venturing out, you can take the scenic stroll around Crescent Lake to the Disney Boardwalk.

A word of warning though, the latter of the two options is not the most efficient and phone calls to Disney have been taking upwards of two hours just to talk to someone.

If you do see a reservation for the restaurant you should go ahead and book it even if it’s not at your intended dining time, because it’s always easier to modify an existing reservation versus make a new one.

Meals start out with a bread basket filled with savory pull-apart onion rolls and cherry multigrain sourdough rolls.

Bread Service

The bread is served with the restaurant’s signature roasted garlic and salted butter.

Yes, that means you can literally smear pieces of roasted garlic and slather butter all over these delightful breads.

When it comes to starters, I really enjoy the French Onion Soup , which is perfectly rich with plenty of onions, sourdough croutons, and topped with melted gruyĂšre cheese. You definitely have to try the Beef Carpaccio as well.

Entrees and Dessert at the Yachtsman Steakhouse

Entrees obviously mean having a steak , and no matter which one you choose it comes with a sauce or butter, and your choice of side. I always order the 14-ounce roasted prime rib with horseradish cream.

Each entree comes with your choice of accompaniment, with either mashed potatoes, potato-leek gratin, or house-made French fries. I typically choose the gratin or the fries.

When dinner is done, do not leave the restaurant without trying one of the delicious desserts.

The signature dessert at the restaurant is the Yachtsman’s Chocolate Cake, which is made with dark chocolate mousse, chocolate cake, mixed berry curd, peanut butter crunch, and mousse, and serves two.

Here are a few tips to ensure your experience at Yachtsman Steakhouse is the best that it can be.

  • Security at the front of the Yacht Club can be very strict about who they let into the parking lot at the hotel.
  • If you don’t have a confirmed dining reservation at the Yachtsman Steakhouse , your better option for dining here will be to take a ride share or take the Disney Skyliner . This is best if you’re staying at one of the resorts that the transportation service goes to and from.
  • I f you’re at EPCOT and want a break from the park and think Yachtsman Steakhouse sounds like a nice place, you’ll want to walk to the back of the park to the International Gateway to get to the Yacht Club and to the restaurant.

6 favorite gems about walt disney world’s yacht club resort.

Posted by: Jennifer Nelson May 25, 2016

disney yacht club secrets

One of Walt Disney World’s most exquisite waterside resorts, the nautical New England-style Yacht Club has a fascinating architectural history and a slew of recreational amenities that today’s guests may not know about. Here are six favorite gems that will help you get the most out of your stay at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

6. It has an impressive architectural history

While many visitors will admire the Yacht Club’s beauty, what they may not know is the rich architectural history behind the resort. The Yacht Cub is the work of renowned architect Robert A.M. Stern, who envisioned the resort as a “village across the water”—in other words, a peaceful, relaxing place for those looking for a bit of respite from the excitement of the Walt Disney World theme parks. It was designed to look like a turn-of-the-century seaside town in the Mid-Atlantic or New England, like Cape May or Coney Island, and Stern’s vast expertise in East Coast seaside hotels of the late 1800s is evidenced all throughout the opulent resort.

5. It has a waterpark

Okay, so it’s no Blizzard Beach or anything, but many first-time guests of the resort are delighted to discover that the Yacht Club is home to Stormalong Bay, a three-acre swimming complex complete with a life-size shipwreck. The Yacht Club’s elaborate pool boasts the tallest waterslide at all of the resorts on the Walt Disney World property, and the sand that covers the bottom of the entire pool is a must-experience feature. A separate kiddie pool also offers a miniature waterslide for little ones. Meanwhile, Mom and Dad can relax in the lazy river or one of the three whirlpool spas, or soak up the sun on the elevated tanning deck.

4. It shares amenities with a sister resort

Unlike many of the other Disney World resorts, the Yacht Club Resort is closely connected to another Disney World resort : the Beach Club Resort and Beach Club Villas. That means guests can easily take advantage of all of the restaurants and pools that are shared between the resorts, along with other amenities like a business center, salon and spa, and fitness center.

3. You can walk to the theme parks

Deluxe resorts like the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Contemporary may get all the credit for being just a quick monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom, but if Epcot is your park of choice, you might be surprised to learn that it’s less than a 10-minute walk away from the International Gateway entrance—not to mention a hop, skip, and a jump away from all the shopping, dining, and entertainment at the BoardWalk. You can also catch transportation to other destinations by boat, including the entrance to Hollywood Studios, and the walking time to the transportation loading areas from even some of the most remote rooms is a measly seven minutes.

For a no obligation, FREE Quote with new bookings contact our sponsor Magical Vacation Planner by calling: 1(407)442-0289 Or for a free no obligation quote with new bookings you can fill out the form by Clicking HERE!

2. You can embark on a pirate adventure

Needless to say, the Yacht Club is all about sailing, and what better way to treat your young buccaneers to a once-in-a-lifetime nautical experience than with a ride on a seasoned vessel in the pursuit of treasure? The kids-only Pirate Adventure Cruises sail from the Yacht Club to exotic “ports of call”—resort marinas—and kids will be treated to pirate legends, discover hidden treasure, and enjoy snacks and drinks as they gather their final pirate booty. There are four two-hour cruises to choose from, and they’re designed for children ages 4 to 12.

1. You can play sports (and sail your own ship)

Many of Walt Disney World’s resorts offer various recreational activities and amenities, but even the most outdoorsy and fitness-minded guests may not realize just how much the Yacht Cub has to offer. Along with guided outdoor adventures like bass fishing excursions, guests are welcome to play a game of volleyball, show off their skills on the lit tennis courts, go for a quick run along one of several jogging trails, or play 18 holes on the miniature golf course next door. You can also become the captain of your own ship when you rent your own motorized boat from Bayside Marina, ranging from private mini-powerboats for two to Sun Tracker pontoon boats for small parties.

Hidden Gems at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts

By AJ and the DFB Team Leave a Comment

Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts

are located in the Epcot resort area, just a short walk or boat ride from the International Gateway at Epcot and a short boat ride to Disney’s Hollywood Studios ! And, they’re two of our favorite Deluxe Hotels.

disney yacht club secrets

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club, Beach Club and Beach Club Villas Resorts share many of the same amenities including the sand bottom Stormalong Bay mega-pool that features a giant water slide and “lazy river”, health club, hair salon, full service marina, Albatross Treasure Cruise, bike rentals, arcade, tennis, gym, movies under the stars, a playground and a jogging path. They are also within close proximity to dining, shopping and entertainment at Disney’s BoardWalk.

While the Yacht and Beach Club share multiple facilities, when you explore these side-by-side Disney resorts, you will discover they are very different.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort

Disney’s Beach Club

is reminiscent of an early 20th century Atlantic seaside resort. The décor suggests “casual elegance,” featuring rooms sprinkled with wicker, seashells, sandcastles, and painted beach scenes. The resort’s pastel color palette of peach, seafoam green, pale yellow, and white reminds us of a box of saltwater taffy.

Landscaping at the Beach Club includes sand dunes with sea grass and a quiet beach dotted with lounge chairs. The beach is perfect for a game of beach volleyball or simply steal away to a secluded spot to escape with a book.

Guests can enjoy the nightly New England Style Clam bake at Cape May Café (or the super fun character breakfast ) and enjoy double scoop cone — or a Kitchen Sink —  from Beaches and Cream .

At the Yacht Club , the mood is more formal. The lobby features antique globes and maps, ship wheels, patriotic icons and brass lamps to create a nautical theme. The maritime color palette is rich in deep tones including navy, burgundy, red, and gold.

Yacht Club Lobby

Outside, there’s a definite nautical vibe thanks to the marina full of boats and seagulls. Throughout the day you’ll hear the horns from the Friendship Boats as they take guests to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s BoardWalk.

If all this nautical inspiration at the Yacht Club has you craving a lobster roll, head over to Ale & Compass for lunch or dinner. There’s also a new breakfast buffet available for guests at Ale & Compass — in case you miss that buffet at the former Captain’s Grill.

6 things to know about walt disney world’s yacht club resort.

Posted by: Katie D March 6, 2016

disney yacht club secrets

6. It has one of the best locations in all of Walt Disney World.

The Yacht Club has one of the best locations of all the Walt Disney World resorts. It is the closest resort to EPCOT with just a 1/3 mile walk to the International Gateway entrance. It is also the Skyliner, a short boat ride, or slightly longer (about 20 minutes) walk to Hollywood Studios.

[google_ad_btf]

5. There is so much to do at the resort, you barely need the theme parks!

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort really can stand alone as its own attraction. Since it shares amenities with the Beach Club, there are a ton of things to do without leaving the resort! Stormalong Bay, the over 3-acre pool area complete with sand-bottom pools and a waterslide, can keep kids and adults entertained for a day or more. There is also an arcade, nighttime movies and campfires, the Shipshape Health Club, boat rentals, volleyball, tennis, and walking paths. All of this means you can enjoy one or more relaxing days at your resort and save money on park passes!

4. It is home to one of the best steakhouses on property.

The Yachtsman Steakhouse is known for having the best steaks on Disney property. The craftsman-inspired interior, open kitchen, and window into the room where the steaks are aged make it an entertaining experience as well as a delicious one!

3. You can watch Epcot’s fireworks from the bridge.

Want to watch Epcot’s fireworks without the crowds? Or maybe you’re back at the resort enjoying a lazy evening but still want to light show entertainment. The bridge between the Yacht Club and Boardwalk Resorts offers the best out-of-park viewing.

2. It is a great resort for adults.

The Yacht Club has a more reserved feel than its sister resort, the Beach Club, and tends to attract more adults. You get the benefits of all of the amenities of both resorts, with a quieter atmosphere. With EPCOT’s World Showcase and the Boardwalk just a stone’s throw away, the Yacht Club has the best location on property for dining and night life. The Yacht Club also has 56 rooms with king size beds that are ideal for couples.

1. If you want to work out or be pampered on your vacation, it is the place for you.

The Yacht Club is home to the Ship Shape Health Club, where guests have complimentary access to a state of the art fitness center. The Ship Shape also offers a variety of spa and salon services for those who want to be pampered or try out a new look!

10 Reasons to Stay at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

disney yacht club secrets

We absolutely love Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. You can definitely tell that it is a deluxe resort from the moment that you arrive. If you don’t know much about the resort, or you are having trouble selecting a resort for your next vacation, then definitely check out this list of reasons why the Yacht Club could be a winner for you and your family:

10 – Amazing location and theme.

The location for the resort is right on the water close to various parks and amenities, which is absolutely perfect. The theme is a nautical theme meant to transport you to an old yacht/nautical club, and it does that perfectly.

9 – Discounts are better than the Beach Club.

For some reason, when discounts are offered, the pricing tends to be better for the Yacht Club over the Beach Club, even though they both share many amenities and recreation activities. Check the prices and try to save yourself a few bucks.

8 – You can walk to Epcot.

This is definitely a huge selling point. It is a huge plus to be able to just walk over to Epcot and not have to wait on transportation. The walk is about fifteen minutes or so at a slow to moderate pace, and it lets you enter right at the World Showcase entrance between France and the United Kingdom.

7 – The Stormalong Bay pool area.

The pool area is seriously like its own mini waterpark. There is a huge pool and pirate ship slide, a lazy river, water play areas, and more. You definitely want to plan pool time when you stay here so that you can take full advantage of this amenity.

6 – Yachtsman Steakhouse.

This is one of Disney’s Signature Dining locations and is known for some of the best steaks on property. The restaurant offers the highest quality cuts of beef, along with delicious seafood options. This is definitely a perfect date night location and then a stroll by the water afterward.

5 – You are only a boat ride or Skyliner ride away from Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Another huge selling point is the close proximity to a second Disney World theme park. No need to wait for a bus as you can just take the boat and get right there. You can also walk if you wanted to. However, if you make the short walk over to Epcot International Gateway, you can enjoy a fantastic Disney Skyliner ride over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

4 – Close proximity to Disney’s Boardwalk.

Disney’s Boardwalk is home to various shops and entertainment, along with restaurants, snacks, a piano bar, sports club, etc. It is a great place to get an ice cream with the kids during the day and go out for adult fun in the evening. And all just only a short walk or boat ride away.

3 – Lots of recreational activities.

You can rent a surrey bike or regular bike to explore, go on fishing excursions, rent boats to enjoy the water, and so much more. You definitely want to check out the recreation rentals as well as the events that the resort puts on each day.

2 – There are club-level room options.

The rooms are already spacious and amazing, but if you want the highest level of service, there are club-level room options, which are only available at deluxe category resorts at Walt Disney World. These rooms come with a price, but they do include unlimited access to the private club lounge, including food and drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). There are also private concierge cast members that will help plan reservations, handle room arrangements, and even handle check-in and check-out.

1 – Deluxe accommodations.

The resort is a deluxe category resort, so you can expect some of the most amazing service and lush accommodations. The resort is stunning, and the rooms are spacious and beautiful with large balconies. There is a spa and salon on-site if you have an interest in those services. There are multiple restaurants to choose from, and a large number of free-planned activities around the resort. You definitely won’t want to leave once you have checked in!

5 Reasons To Love Disney's Yacht Club Resort

It's no secret that Disney's Beach Club is one of the most popular deluxe resorts on Disney property, but have you spent any time at its adjacent sister resort, Disney's Yacht Club ? This beautiful grand New England-style yacht club is nestled along the shore of Crescent Lake and if one of my favorites. Check out these 5 Reasons to Love Disney's Yacht Club Resort .

Located just next door to the Yachtsman Steak House, this low key and comfortable lounge offers guests a place to kick back and relax while enjoying a cocktail or two. The Crew's cup shares a kitchen with the Yactsman and has ample food offerings, making it one of the best kept secrets in Disney Dining . There are few better places to relax at an indoor table for a great meal without a reservation. The Crews Cup is typically open from Noon to Midnight.

Yachtsman Steakhouse

Leaving nightly from the Yacht Club Marina is a very special excursion that guests can book for their enjoyment. Pontoon boats holding up to 10 people can be reserved starting at $346.13, the cost includes a driver. The boats take a short cruise from the Yacht Club Marina over to Epcot and sit beneath the International Gateway Bridge to watch the nighttime spectacular . If you would like to add a little something more to your cruise, food and beverage items are available through Yacht Club Private Dining.

I've stayed at the Yacht Club once and had the pleasure of overlooking the weeding gazebo. The few days I was there I was also able to witness a wedding. I've also stayed at the Beach Club villas a half dozen times - this past March break, August and at Christmas (Xmas Day had a nice dinner at the buffet). The proximity to Epcot is amazing. The convenience to The Studios is great (I did walk there this time). You can pick up a rental car at the Dolphin (also within walking distance), great views of the Boardwalk, and short access to the eateries there, too. I rented a bike for an hour ($9) and toured around. There's a quieter pool, too, for when they start the afternoon kids portion of their "entertainment", which can make staying at Stormalong Bay a little less pleasant than it ought to be. It also has a pretty decent fitness room for when the weather isn't as nice to do something outside. By far this is the pretties set of resorts, and they also have great amenities and location.

I have visited the Boardwalk many times and dined at the Yacht Club and Beach Club, walked around the properties. It wasn't until this past fall that I actually stayed there. I live in the Orlando area but my sisters and I were planning to run the Tower of Terror Ten Miler and decided to stay "on property". I have stayed at many Disney properties but the Yacht Club is now listed among my favorites. What a delightful venue. We had ice cream at Beaches and Cream and enjoyed all the amenities of the resort. I will DEFINITELY stay there again!

Was just there in February. First time visitor to this resort. Everything you wrote about the convenience of the water taxi to Epcot and the Studios is spot on correct. Who needs the hassle of the buses when you can take a 5-7 minute relaxing boat ride. Oh, and Beaches and Cream was the perfect extra.

The Steakhouse is definitely better than the Canadian Le Celleur (?). My wife and I ate at both and the Yachtsman was superior. The steak was so perfectly prepared and tender it was almost like liquid steak....melt in your mouth ! The vegetables were crisp and not overcooked, the potatoes (mashed and baked) were likewise perfect. In all, one of the 2-3 best meals I have ever had !!! Dan F.

6 Reasons You Must Stay at Disney’s Yacht Club

by Mickey Blog · August 20, 2018

NBA Bubble Resorts

The Walt Disney World resort that you select for your vacation functions as your home base. You’ll spend all of your downtime here, getting ready each morning and winding down each evening. You want to pick a place where you’ll feel comfortable and happy. Disney owns and operates many hotels that could work, but we’re going to prioritize one of the best today. Here are six reasons to stay at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

The Ambience

Are you familiar with Major League Baseball’s Winter Meetings? It’s a formal event wherein high-level MLB executives from all 32 teams get together and discuss the league’s most pressing issues. Lots of baseball trades and free agent signings take place during these meetings, too. It’s a huge deal.

disney yacht club secrets

On several occasions, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort has hosted this event. MLB could choose literally thousands of other hotels across North America, but they keep coming back to this one. They do so because of the resort’s ambience. Yacht Club is upscale in the best possible way, a Deluxe Tier Disney property that feels welcoming to all. The beachy vibe of this themed hotel fosters a comfort level that you’d find at any island getaway. The fact that you’re close to a couple of Disney theme parks is just a happy bonus.

The Boardwalk

Crescent Lake is the body of water that rests behind Epcot’s World Showcase. Three resorts reside on the two sides of Crescent Lake . On one side is Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, while Disney’s Beach Club Resort mirrors it on the other side. Just beside Beach Club is Yacht Club, a kind of fraternal twin.

Disney's Boardwalk

Obviously, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn is right beside the BoardWalk. Yacht Club is on the other side of the water. It’s only a few hundred steps away, which is nothing for people used to walking around Disney parks all day. At the BoardWalk, you’ll discover a carefully crafted entertainment district complete with shopping and dining. You’ll even find some dancing available here after dark.

The BoardWalk is a lovely place to visit, and it’s also visually gorgeous. When you stay at Yacht Club, you can see this beautiful area from your hotel and, if you’re lucky, your hotel room. By the way, when you want to save your feet during a hectic vacation, Disney’s boat transportation system is your best friend. You can board a boat on your side of Crescent Lake and get dropped off at the BoardWalk in a couple of visits. It’s the next stop on the boat route.

boardwalk at Disney

Should you want to go the other way, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is only a few stops away. You’re roughly 10-15 minutes away from this park when you use the boats at Crescent Lake. Remarkably, that’s not the closest park access, though

International Gateway

Disney insiders are smiling knowingly right now. One of the best-kept secrets of Walt Disney World is the International Gateway. Think of it as the back entrance to Epcot. Guests who stay at the Crescent Lake hotels are right beside this location. In fact, the aforementioned boat system will transport Yacht Club guests to the International Gateway in only a few minutes.

Epcot World Showcase

By taking the International Gateway entrance, you’ll avoid longer security check lines that occur at the front of the park. You’ll arrive at the World Showcase close to the France Pavilion. Yes, the beauty of the International Gateway is that you’re a brief walk away from E Ticket attractions like Soarin’ Around the World, Frozen Ever After, and Test Track. Plus, you aren’t fighting the crowds from this back entrance, a huge advantage early in the day when Rope Drop takes place.

Stormalong Bay

Do you like to swim while you’re on vacation? Or maybe you like to hang out by the pool while sipping margaritas? Stormalong Bay is the unquestioned champion of Disney resort pools. Many (accurately) describe it as a mini-water park rather than a pool. And it’s exclusively available to guests of Beach Club and Yacht Club!

Beach Club pool

The Stormalong Bay area comprises three acres of land, and its sand-bottom pools mimic the actual beach experience. Once you dip your toes in the sand flooring, you’ll instinctively worry about jellyfish for a moment before remembering that you’re in a controlled environment at Walt Disney World, not the actual ocean, a place known for The Meg-style attacks.

Should you prefer to sit by the pool, the lounging area at Stormalong Bay is vast. Plus, the pool bar isn’t technically swim-up (although it’s very close). You can work over to place your order without getting wet. This place even serves light entrees, which makes it a terrific place to hole up for several hours. Of course, if food is your highest priority, you can do better at Yacht Club

I could (and probably will at some point) write an entire article about the food at the Yacht Club/Beach Club area. For now, I’ll merely hit the highlights. Yacht Club features a restaurant called Yachtsman Steakhouse . It’s in the conversation for best steak at Walt Disney World. It’s also one of the most elegant meals on the campus. I highly recommend it for a romantic date. And the hotel also offers the Ale & Compass, a new gastropub that opened over the past 12 months.

Yachtsman Steakhouse

Since Yacht Club is connected to Beach Club, the restaurants at the two places are synonymous in my eyes. At Cape May CafĂ©, you’ll discover a wonderful Minnie Mouse-based character breakfast and an evening seafood buffet. At Beaches & Cream , you’ll step back to the 1950s, a time when jukebox burger joints were all the rage. The food here is simple comfort food, and the ice cream is exquisite.

Also, I’ll get kicked out of Disney Writing University if I fail to mention the Kitchen Sink, a decadent ice cream dessert that serves (at least) four people. I think it has more calories than the full Cape May CafĂ© seafood buffet. Suffice to say that you’ll never go hungry while staying at Yacht Club. It features one of the finest restaurant selections at Walt Disney World.

The Logistics

Let’s complete the Yacht Club discussion by tying together a couple of threads while adding a third one. Earlier, we discussed the boat ride that takes guests from the resort to Hollywood Studios. If you think that’s valuable now, imagine what it will be like when Star Wars Land opens next year.

Then, there’s the back entrance to Epcot. This unheralded locale is where you can enter the park more quickly while avoiding standard Disney mobs. You’ll also start near a couple of World Showcase pavilions, and you’ll be quite close to the end of Future World (i.e. the middle of the park).

Future World Epcot

At the main entrance to Epcot, you’ll only have to walk a few steps to reach the monorail system. This particular monorail is a one-way trip to Magic Kingdom. From there, you can go other places, of course, but let’s remain park-specific for now. Let’s say that you’re done with Epcot and want to take a ride on Space Mountain . You simply walk to the front of the park and ride the monorail to Magic Kingdom.

Sure, other resorts have transportation options that will take you where you need to go. Only the hotels located at Crescent Lake, however, have such strong logistics. From these three resorts, you can board a boat to Hollywood Studios, walk or ride a boat to Epcot, and take a monorail to Magic Kingdom. That convenience is the strongest selling point possible for guests who want to max out on park time during a vacation. You should speak to an agent at MickeyTravels to discover the best rates at Disney’ Yacht Club. The logistics more than justify the cost.

Theme parks, disney cruise line – what you need to know, cruise line ships, disney private islands, recent walt disney world, recent disneyland, disney world reviews, other park reviews, recent reviews, allears style, newsletter home, 5 need-to-know secrets about disney world hotels everyone should read.

disney yacht club secrets

Are you getting ready for your upcoming trip to Disney World ?

disney yacht club secrets

If you’re planning on staying on property, we’ve gotta talk because there are a couple of need-to-know secrets about Disney World hotels that you should read right now!

As we were saying, if you’ve just nailed your Disney World hotel booking, there are some things you should know before checking in. Let’s dive right in!

Split Stay? No Problem — Bell Services Has You Covered!

Disney knows how exhausting it can be packing up after just one or two nights, especially if you’re bouncing between hotels during a split stay. So here’s the “secret”: Bell Services will transport your luggage from one resort to another for free!

disney yacht club secrets

That’s right, you don’t have to worry about lugging your suitcases around the property or calling an Uber just to switch hotels. Just drop your bags off at Bell Services, and they’ll do the rest. Just keep in mind though that your bags might take a few hours to arrive at the new resort, so pack anything you need in a day bag.

Swan and Dolphin: Disney Vibes with Marriott Perks

If you didn’t know, the Swan and Dolphin hotels are on Disney World property, but they’re operated by Marriott. This means you get the best of both worlds — both Disney perks and Marriott Bonvoy rewards!

disney yacht club secrets

Staying at either of these resorts gives you access to Early Theme Park Entry , which gets you into the theme parks 30 minutes before the general public. You’ll also get access to Extended Evening Hours , just like Disney-operated resorts. Plus, if you’re a Marriott Bonvoy member, you can rack up those points or redeem them for your stay. Who doesn’t love a good hotel rewards program, am I right?

8 Reasons You’ll Regret Not Staying at Disney’s Swan & Dolphin Resort

Even deluxe hotels have the same cheap toilet paper.

Okay, let’s talk about one of the less “magical” aspects of Disney World hotels — the toilet paper. So, even though you might be shelling out for a deluxe resort experience, you’ll still find that thin, scratchy, one-ply TP in your bathroom.

disney yacht club secrets

Whether you’re staying at the Grand Floridian or an All-Star Resort, prepare yourself. If you’re picky about your bathroom essentials, you might want to consider bringing your own or making a quick trip to a nearby store.

No Pool Hopping

If you’re thinking about taking a dip in another resort’s pool (because let’s face it, some of them are spectacular), just know that pool hopping is not allowed unless you’re staying at a resort with shared pool privileges (like Beach Club and Yacht Club).

disney yacht club secrets

Every hotel keeps an eye on who’s coming in, and you’ll likely be asked for your MagicBand or room key to verify you’re a guest. Stick to your hotel’s pool unless you want to risk an awkward “excuse me, you’re not on the guest list” situation.

Views Aren’t Always What You Think They Are

Here’s a big one — just because you book a certain “view” doesn’t mean you’ll have that “picture-perfect” panorama. For example, you might pay extra for a “theme park view” at Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary, only to find that your “view” is a sliver of Magic Kingdom peeking from the side of your balcony.

disney yacht club secrets

Similarly, the “preferred view” at Disney’s Riviera Resort might be a “grand” sight of the Skyliner or Caribbean Beach Resort , instead of the fireworks at EPCOT . So, the moral of the story is to not get too hung up on the labels when booking a room. You’ll be surprised how even a standard view can sometimes offer better sights!

This Secret All-Inclusive Disney World Food Festival Features 45 Dishes and More Than 170 Beverages

Two food and wine festivals in one weekend? Talk about Disney magic.

Megan duBois is a travel and food journalist who has traveled around the world in search of the best bites and experiences. She has been to three continents and countless countries seeking out new adventures to share with readers.

Fall at Walt Disney World brings a lot of excitement from Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom to the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival taking over World Showcase. But just outside of the gates of EPCOT is another food and wine festival that many Disney fans don’t know about: the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic .

The two-day food festival is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year and will take place on Friday, November 15, and Saturday, November 16. “It’s an honor and privilege for us to have successfully hosted the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic for 15 years. This milestone year is a testament to our continued commitment to ensuring culinary excellence remains a major part of the guest experience here,” says Greg Sherman, director of food and beverage at Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin .

The 2024 event will have the longest hours in the event’s history, starting at 5:30 p.m. and lasting until 9:30 p.m. In another first, the Food & Wine Classic will have an event record-setting 45 dishes to try and more than 170 beverages to taste from 85 booths set up along the causeway between the Swan and the Dolphin, reaching down to the resort’s sprawling pool area. What we love about this secret food festival is that all of your food and drink are included in the ticket cost — so there’s no whipping out your wallet each time you want to try something and there will be no fiddling with food or drink tickets, either.

The food samples and booths are all a tribute to the resort’s on-site restaurants and chefs. In addition, there are also larger themed areas that showcase regional and international cuisine, like a miniature Chinatown and an area dedicated to fresh Florida cuisine.

“Our most important goal is to leverage our expertise and creativity to the delight of our guests and we are immensely grateful to those who come from near and far to experience what we have to offer each year,” says Sherman.

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic’s culinary highlights

With more dishes than ever to try, you’re going to want to attend both nights of the Food & Wine Classic. And it’s important to note that the menus for each food station are different on Friday versus Saturday.

“The culinary experience is a key element of that [Disney] magic. We showcase our innovation in food and beverage with constantly evolving offerings which give us an opportunity to present new flavors, styles, and approaches,” explains Sherman. “We empower our culinary team to bring forth ideas and concepts that are certain to surprise and delight our guests.”

On Friday, guests can try some of the innovations in food such as hand-crafted smoked bacon with braised greens, carrot purĂ©e, artisanal bread purĂ©e, and shaved vinegar heirloom apple from Smokin’ D’s BBQ. Another highlight of the Friday menu is a new dish of hand-made harissa spiced lamb sausage that’s served alongside bulgar wheat, smoked yogurt, and fennel onion salad.

Saturday brings an all-new menu to try at some stands. From The Fountain, you can try a Reuben sandwich with pickled mustard seed, Russian dressing, house-cured cabbage, and marble rye bread. An all-new dish to the festival lineup for Saturday is the Korean “No Mayo” Salad, with rice noodles, bean sprouts, cucumber, kimchi, and cashews.

disney yacht club secrets

Some of the more popular restaurants at the resort complex will host the same menu on both nights of the festival. This is the case for Shula’s Steak House, where Roasted Linz Heritage Black Angus Beef Tenderloin served with marble potatoes, caramelized onion purĂ©e, horseradish, and bĂ©arnaise sauce will be served on Friday and Saturday. Todd English’s Bluezoo will also feature the same menu of Roasted Sablefish with black garlic miso butter and a Shaved Asparagus Salad with cured yellowfin tuna as its two dishes. Rosa Mexicano rounds out the restaurants serving the same menu. At this booth, there will be tempura-fried cauliflower tacos, fish tacos, and the restaurant’s signature guacamole.

Food & Wine Classic will have four themed food areas that will serve the same menu on Friday and Saturday. The first is an ode to fresh Florida dishes at For The Love of Florida. Here, you’ll find dishes like Seminole Pumpkin Fry Bread and Grilled Florida Oysters with a side of house-made kumquat hot sauce. At the Beer Garden, hot buffalo wings are always a hit — along with boiled peanuts and miso butter-tossed Brussels sprouts. Adults will instantly be brought back to childhood at Carnival Corner, where corn dog bites and chipotle macaroni and cheese are on the menu. An all-new dessert zone, called Pastry, will feature sweet delights like Caramel Banana Creme BrĂ»lĂ©e, Mandarin Cream Beignets, and Chocolate Blackberry Choux Puff.

disney yacht club secrets

All-you-care-to-drink wine and more

As part of your ticket to the Food & Wine Classic, you’re privy to trying 170 different drinks from around the world. While the festival mostly focuses on wine from places like Argentina, California, France, and Spain, you can also try craft brews at the beer garden. Eagle-eyed festival goers will also notice that the Japan drink booth serves sake, which is a real treat.

Each drink is included in your ticket price, so try as much as you wish. Just be sure to never drink and drive. If you plan on partaking in alcohol, consider booking a room at the resort for the night, getting a rideshare to and from the resort, or having a designated driver in your group.

Learn how to create cocktails and pair wine at interactive seminars

Every year the Food & Wine Classic features educational seminars where guests can learn how to do everything from blend wine to create craft cocktails. Each of the $85 per person seminars is led by a member of the resort’s food and beverage team. This year, the event has three seminars, two of which are new. The first new option is called Beer Here! , where guests learn about and taste some of the craft beer made in Florida. The second option is Salud! A Journey Through Spain , which showcases wine from Spain, teaching people about wine regions, types of wine, and how to pair wine. The last seminar of the weekend is a fan-favorite, Craft Cocktails . With this class, you’ll learn how to make a perfect cocktail no matter where you’re at, from finding the best ingredients to learning if something should be shaken or stirred. All of the seminars take place on Saturday before the outdoor portion of the Food & Wine Classic starts.

Where to stay

To stay directly in the heart of the festival area, try getting a room at Disney’s Swan, Dolphin, or Swan Reserve. The three sister hotels are part of the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin complex. They are owned by Marriott, so if you have any brand loyalty you can get your Marriott Bonvoy member perks here. After booking your ticket to the Food & Wine Classic, you can lock in your room by calling (888)-828-8850 and mentioning the Food & Wine rate for a discount.

Alternatively, you could stay at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn or Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts for Disney-owned properties that are within walking distance of the Swan and Dolphin. All three of these Disney hotels are considered deluxe resorts and as such, are priced at a premium rate. If you want to stay at a Disney hotel for less, consider one of the moderate resorts like Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside or Disney’s Coronado Springs. If you stay at one of the moderate resorts listed, you will need to find your own way to the Swan and Dolphin.

How to get tickets

Tickets for the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic are currently for sale online . Tickets for Friday or Saturday night alone are $195. If you plan on going to both nights of the festival, you can save 15% by bundling your tickets for both nights, making the total cost $331.50 before taxes and fees.

Whether you decide to go for one or both nights, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic is a great way to spend an evening. We love that every bite of food and sip of wine is included in the cost, too.
