Sonne, Wind und ein Törn mit bleibenden Erinnerungen Vom 26.08. - 02.09.2024 durften ich mit zwei "Plattbodenschiff-Verliebten" Segelfreunden auf der Lemsteraak "Dorothée" einen wunderbaren Törn auf den Friesengewässern geniessen. Ein paar Schläge durch die Waddenzee zu den Waddenhaven Terschelling und Oudeschild Texel, anlegen im Tidenhafen Harlingen und dann kreuz und quer über das IJsselmeer. Das alles durften wir bei idealen Winden von 3 bis 5 Bf erleben und dazu unter der holländischen Sonne bräunen. Nur schade, dass wir unser primäres Ziel,... 4,5 Peter

Kurzwoche mit der Zonnewind Moin. Wir, eine fuenfkoepfige Familie, haben zum ersten mal eine Aak gemietet. Damit haben wir ab Workum bei bestem Wetter Kanaele erkundet und sind zwei Tage auf dem Ijsselmeer gesegelt. Ein Erlebnis fuer uns alle, in schöner Umgebung mit einem tollen Schiff. Die Übernahme des Schiffs, als auch die Abgabe am letzten Tag an den Vermieter verliefen reibungslos und sehr freundlich. Vom Schiff selber sind wir begeistert und das Handling hatten wir nach kurzer Zeit heraus. Wir können dieses Erlebnis... 5,0 J.B.

In the Bavaria fleet of 8 Segely eighth from Lelystadt we partly offer you the larger yachts with bow thrusters, so that you can sail safely into the box and navigate in the harbours and narrow lock chambers. Among the largest marinas and harbors on the Ijsselmeer are Waterland Jachthaven (‘yacht harbor’) in Monnickendamm with 230 berths, Seaball marina in Makkum in the Wûnseradiel regon with 600 places, Workumer Jachthaven with 200 spots, the Jachthaven Marina Den Oever with 200 berths, and the Jachthaven Bouswana with 100 spaces. There is also lots of room and modern facilities at Marina Stavoren Buitenhaven (200 spots), Stichting Jachthaven (150), Regatta Center Medemblik (200), Jachthaven Andijk (200), Jachthaven Enkhuizen (650), Jachthaven De Vrijheid B.V. in Warns (245), Jachthaven De Brekken (200), Jachthaven Friese Hoek (275), and Jachthaven Iselmar (300) in Lemmer. Jachthaven-Camping and Jachthaven Exploitatie Z.C. in Kapen (each with 170 spots), Jachthaven Ketelmeer Stichting Dronton (300) and the small but fine Jachthaven De Oude Zeug B.V. in Wieringwerf-Zuid with its 20 berths are also all recommended marinas. All skippers heading from Ijsselmeer, especially south-southwest with the main winds, are highly encouraged to keep track of the weather while they are at sea. The rising and lowering of the water, which also serves as a source of drinking water for the area, is also important to take into account. The levels can change up to 20 centimeters between the winter and summer. You should also keep an eye out for the red and white flags that mark the buoys where the shallow waters – just 1.5 meters deep – start. Black flags warn you of fishing nets that are in the water. The most famous regattas that happen in the region regularly include the Markol Cup in April, the 50 Mijls Doublehanded in April or May, the NRW Cup in May, the DYC Cup in May or June, the 24 Uurs Zeilrace in August, and the Köln Cup and Pott Regatta in September.

UNESCO World Heritage Site Shokland, and the Zuiderzeemuseum: attractions for excursions on land

Numerous monuments, examples of historical architecture, and many museums make for lovely day trips around the Ijsselmeer area in the towns mentioned above. The Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen is known throughout the region and already in 1984 won the title European Museum of the Year. It is set up in two parts – the Buitenmuseum (outside museum) and the Binnenmuseum (indoor museum). Fishing huts, a windmill, a church, a pharmacy, a school, a small handicraft business, and shops as well as a harbor and canals dating from the period 1700 to 1900 are some examples of historic and pleasant architecture to experience in the outdoor part of the museum. Inside an old warehouse from the 17th century, the museum’s interior collection consists of the whaling equipment that used to be used in the Zuiderzee and collections of farmers’ and fishermen’s old boats and tools. In the summer, actors play the roles of villagers doing old craftwork activities such as the manufacture of ropes and wooden shoes. Similarly authentic to the region are the many men’s choirs and the fishing village Urk, on the western side of the Noordoostpolders, which boasts the country’s highest birth rate. The island Shokland is also an important and interesting place to visit in the region. It played a special role as a place of refuge for the Dutch resistance during the German occupation during World War Two until 1945, and its polder landscape, which is enclosed with dikes, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The landscapes and the ruins of the local church are well worth seeing. North of Urk lies the small village of Rutten with its three sculptures and artworks, “Fleeing Waterfowl,” “Crow’s Foot,” and “Village Feeling.” The nature area Oostvaardersplassen in Almere, the culture and convention center De Meerpaal in Dronten, the Polder Museum (Nieuwland Erfgoedcentrum) and the Aviodrome Naval Air Museum in Lelystad are also worthwhile to visit.

Much to see in the West: West Friesland, Kennemerland, and Waterland

The western shore of the Ijsselmeer is far more densely populated than its eastern coast. The province Nordhooland is home not only to the Dutch capital Amsterdam, but also the capital of the province, Haarlem, with its 150,000 inhabitants. It is also home to the oldest museum in the Netherlands, the Teylers Museum on the banks of the Spaarne river, which dates back to the 18th century. The city Alkmmaar, with a population just under 95,000, is also located on the western side of the Ijsselmeer. With its famous cheese market held every Friday since 1622, Alkmmaar is an easy daytrip from the port city of Hoorn in West Friesland. Kennemerland is another area nearby that has very nice vacationing options. Camping spots and two marinas accommodate travelers in the small town Andijk, a large vacation home development called Zomerpark (summer park) West-Frisia awaits visitors in Venhuizen, and in Heerhugowaard you will find the local holiday areas Geestmer Ambacht and Blaue Loper. The municipality Langedijk is known for its more than 120-year-old auction house and the Broeker Veiling Museum, where even still today auctions are held for agriculture and horticulture products, and the town Opmeer is home to the Scheringa Museum, which has a good reputation among art connoisseurs. Stede Broec is the venue for the annual Messe Westfriese Flora (West Frisian Flora Convention), for flowers and other gardening and horticultural products, held every year in February. In Wervershoof-Onderdijk you can visit the museum workshops of smiths, and in Schagen you can see a castle from the 15th century and the Grote Kerk (big church). The Waterland region is especially known for its heavily visited tourist areas, the Edam-Volendam municipality further north is of course known for its famous cheese (Edam), and in the small towns, tourists can see the traditional production of cheese at some farms.

Roam the Ijsselmeer with Yachtico

Experienced sailors can aim for a longer roundtrip cruise, such as from Lemmer via Makkum, Vlieland in the North Sea, Enkhuizen, Hoorn, Medemblik and back. Sailing across IJsselmeer

Sooner or later, every aficionado of large water bodies will set course for IJsselmeer. The loop consisting of Markermeer, IJsselmeer, Ketelmeer, the lakes between former coast and empoldered land and IJmeer, offers a lot to water sports enthusiasts.

Picturesque and charming villages

In contrast to modern marinas, the Frisian villages and towns in which they are located are often picturesque and charming, such as Makkum, Workum and Hindeloopen. You will see stunning mansions that have been lovingly restored and which are reminders of the heyday of fishing and trade. Similar places can also be found in the province of North Holland. Examples are Medemblik, Enkhuizen, Hoorn and Monnikendam. Another place worth visiting is the picturesque peninsula of Marken, from where you can sail to Volendam.

On a beautiful summer's day, the white sails of sailing boats can be seen everywhere. On the shores of IJsselmeer are numerous charming and busy marinas.

Good to know

IJsselmeer is a large expanse of water. Although you can see at least one shore on a clear day, a harbour is always a long way away when things go wrong. The boat has to be properly equipped for such waters. Therefore, there must always be a reliable waterways map (map 1810) on board and at least a compass, a log, a watch and a plotter. Having GPS equipment on board makes navigation a whole lot easier. If visibility is poor, you have to be able to find your way using maps. Properly dimensioned anchor equipment is essential. You have to be able to shelter from rough weather. You should, of course, also have life jackets and distress rockets and there should also be a radio on board so that you can monitor the weather forecasts. A marine telephone is also advisable (you will need to obtain the necessary papers) because large areas of the IJsselmeer are not covered by the GSM network.

IJsselmeer is known for its short swells. That is not so dangerous by itself, but it must be taken into account. Motor yachts in particular experience a lot of hindrance from transversely incoming steep waves. If the vessel does not have the required stability, it will even risk capsizing. Safe sailing is a matter of assessing the conditions of a certain route in advance and to select a safe heading when you are being surprised by excessive swells.

The first pavilion of Crocus Expo IEC hosted an extraordinary exposition of the 5th International exhibition of yachts and boats Moscow Boat Show. The show had been incredibly famous for five years already not only thanks to the specialists of the market segment as well as professional sportsmen but also thanks to those who consider sailing sport to be their hobby and well cherished dream.

Moscow Boat Show 2012

The organizer of the project was the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre. The show was supported by Aston Martin Moscow, Burevestnik Group logistics department and the Yachting specialized magazine.

The exposition space increased up to 30 000 sq m and was accommodated in all 4 exhibition halls of the fairgrounds! 280 Russian (Arkhangelsk, Vyborg, Kazan, Kaluga, Republic of Karelia, Moscow and Moscow region, Nizhny Novgorod, Novorossiysk, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, St. Petersburg, Sverdlovsk region, Sochi, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen and Yaroslavl region) and foreign ( Denmark , Germany , Holland , Greece , Spain , Italy , Cyprus , China , Latvia , Poland , USA , Turkey , Ukraine, Finland , France , Montenegro and Croatia ) companies participate in the show.

Moscow Boat Show provided the perfect platform from which to preview new products, evaluate market trends, and establish long-lasting and commercially profitable partnerships. Despite the dynamic changes taking place in Russia and the rapid growth of the yachting sector, the show continued to complement and reflect the industry’s demand and is a promotional opportunity not to be missed!

Unique exhibits were presented at the show for the first time: exposition of private submarines from U-Boat Russia company, Marquis Yachts 420 SB motor yacht from Sport Bridge S. Marine series, SAGA-415 yacht from Saga Boats Norwegian shipyard, Jetlev-Flyer from MS Watersports.

Moscow Boat Show a Great Success

More than 400 yachts were displayed within the frames of the event including the largest boats ever exhibited in Russia – the 19-meter giant motor yacht Princess 54 as well as the Princess 50 yacht from Nord Marine and Baja speed boat from Burevestnik.

Domfinland OY unveiled a luxury project from Finnish real estate: a seaside premium class hotel in Hanko named consonant with the location Merihanko.

The trade fair was traditionally opened by a Gala Opening Ceremony. Arcady Zlotnikov, First Deputy Director Crocus Expo IEC, was the first to take the floor at the official opening ceremony. He greeted warmly exhibitors, guests and visitors of Moscow Boat Show. Nikolay Krjuchek, Deputy Chief of the State Inspection on Small size Vessels (GIMS) of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of Russia, Georguiy Shaiduko, Acting President of the Russian Yachting Federation (VFPS), Olympic champion in Atlanta and Ekaterina Grishechkina, Director of exhibition Moscow Boat Show also spoke at the ceremony.

The high-ranking guests noted dynamic development of the branch which well reasoned the intensive growth of the exposition and appearance of rather unique “gems”.

A number of business meetings and negotiations were held within the frames of the project: the exhibition was visited by a large delegation of Greek businessmen for the purpose of establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation with the Russian colleagues.

More than 400 yachts on display at the Show

Russian Yachting Federation (VFPS) celebrated its 100 anniversary within the frames of Moscow Boat Show and arranged an exposition of future sailing sport museum (rare awards, gifts, articles from private collections, pictures and etc.) which had been collected since 1912.

Due to carefully chosen running dates the show was visited by more than 26 000 people. The majority of the visitors were of targeted audience – vessel owners and specialists of the branch.

The work at the next edition of the show is under way! The show will be held in March 2013. The overall exhibit space will comprise 40 000 sq m. The exhibition will impress with exclusive exhibits and the latest technological achievements.

Moscow Boat Show was not only an entertaining but at the same time a business promotional event. Participation in the trade fair was a unique opportunity to present a company and products to a distinctly selected targeted audience of industry specialists. They were well prepared to discuss business in the Russian market and even to close a deal on-site.

The show helped representatives of yachting business to get acquainted with their Russian colleagues and gradually improved national yachting market to a new level. It is obvious that for 5 years of its running the project has turned to a status event of the international exhibitions calendar.
