We are looking for a Chief Engineer to join a 55m world cruising, private and charter motor yacht. The yacht is travelling to the US and therefore a B1/B2 visa is preferred. Ideally, the successful candidate will be an accomplished Engineer, comfortable working with IDEA and managing a Second Engineer. The opportunity offers the chance to work on a world cruising, private and charter yacht with a good team and established yacht owners. Yacht Agent Shoreside

Wilsonhalligan are looking for a Yacht Agent to join an established company in the Caribbean. The ideal candidate will: -Forward mooring requests to authorities and input vessel data in AYPRO, gathering as much information as possible about the vessel and visit purpose. - Inform the captain about harbour access and stay guidelines, including required documents before and after arrival. - Assist clients pre-arrival by collecting specific requests and offering services to organise their stay. - Be present at the yachts arrival berth, ensuring no obstacles during berthing. - Welcome clients on board, gather necessary documentation for authorities, collect ID documents for border control, provide information on requested services, and manage additional requests. - Quote all services during the stay and pre-arrival to get the captains approval and avoid disputes. - Organise provisioning during the yachts harbour stay. - Monitor and promptly address any service issues or changes. - Collect all service information and costs in the vessel folder and/or AYPRO to assist the administration office with invoicing. - Share information with colleagues to plan services according to Company standards. - Make purchases if needed, following the Administration Departments guidelines and obtaining invoices/receipts. - Handle all information confidentially and in compliance with GDPR. - Support and help train new staff in collaboration with HR and under the Office Managers supervision. - Follow Company procedures and policies. - Be available outside working hours for any contingencies. The ideal candidate will: -Forward mooring requests to authorities and input vessel data in AYPRO, gathering as much information as possible about the vessel and visit purpose. - Inform the captain about harbour access and stay guidelines, including required documents before and after arrival. - Assist clients pre-arrival by collecting specific requests and offering services to organise their stay. - Be present at the yachts arrival berth, ensuring no obstacles during berthing. - Welcome clients on board, gather necessary documentation for authorities, collect ID documents for border control, provide information on requested services, and manage additional requests. - Quote all services during the stay and pre-arrival to get the captains approval and avoid disputes. - Organise provisioning during the yachts harbour stay. - Monitor and promptly address any service issues or changes. - Collect all service information and costs in the vessel folder and/or AYPRO to assist the administration office with invoicing. - Share information with colleagues to plan services according to Company standards. - Make purchases if needed, following the Administration Departments guidelines and obtaining invoices/receipts. - Handle all information confidentially and in compliance with GDPR. - Support and help train new staff in collaboration with HR and under the Office Managers supervision. - Follow Company procedures and policies. - Be available outside working hours for any contingencies. Ready to join Neptune's Navy? Sea Shepherd Global welcomes passionate individuals to crew aboard our global fleet of four ships. We're looking for people of all ages, backgrounds and skills who are ready for the adventure of a lifetime as they defend and protect the world’s oceans.

Neptune's Navy Needs You

We are looking for passionate ocean defenders who aren’t afraid of hard work, no pay, long hours, dangerous conditions and extreme weather. We need volunteers motivated by the fight to defend, conserve and protect our seas and marine wildlife from the many threats facing them today. Sea Shepherd operates on very limited resources, most of them going directly to maintain and operate our fleet. Our volunteer crew members are key to the success of our direct-action campaigns!

Sea Shepherd’s fleet is crewed by volunteers of all backgrounds from over two dozen countries and five continents. While the average age is 30, volunteers range in age from 19 to 61 years old, though we have no upper age limits to join our crew. Women make up almost half of our ships’ crew, including captains, marine engineers and officers. While preference is given to technically-skilled volunteers for positions such as marine engineers, navigators, radio operators, cooks and medics, we also need deckhands to keep the ship running smoothly. Previous experience working on board a ship is not required if you’re willing to learn new skills!

To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:

- You must be a minimum of 18 years old.

- You must know how to swim.

- You must comply with the Sea Shepherd “zero tolerance” drug policy and smoking rules.

- You are financially responsible for travel to and from the ship and all personal items.

- You must agree to be filmed/photographed while on campaign.

The Benefits In addition to adventure, fulfillment, new friends, and the experience of a lifetime doing the hardest work you’ll ever love, all Sea Shepherd crew are given full room (bunk and bedding) and board (three hearty vegan meals a day), as well as onboard training by veteran crewmembers.

Positions Available There are six primary areas on our ships: Bridge, Deck, Engine Room, Galley, Communications and Media. We are looking for navigators, sailors, marine engineers, mechanics, electricians, carpenters, welders, cooks, doctors, medics or nurses, small boat operators, photographers, videographers, computer and networking specialists, electronics hobbyists and experts, software developers, radio and antenna technicians, and even a few unskilled dedicated Ocean Defenders who are willing to be trained. Timeframe Sea Shepherd’s campaigns take place throughout the year and rarely last less than a month, with many lasting up to four months or more. Preference is given to volunteers who are available for the most time. For new crewmembers with no specialized skills we look for a commitment of three months, where you’ll often be working on a ship while in port before qualifying for a sea campaign. Crew with specialized skills can usually join sea campaigns directly.

Locations Our campaigns take place in oceans around the world, including the Antarctic, Africa, Europe and the Americas. Transportation to and from the ship is the responsibility of each volunteer.

Yacht and sail boat crews are teams of highly trained and experienced professionals providing an on board care and hospitality service.  They are expected to work together towards a common goal of providing the best bespoke service for their client, their client’s family, guests and associates.

Every crew member plays a key role in providing a premium on board service. Generally, a strict hierarchy ensures that each individual is able to perform his or her tasks to the necessary level of excellence, to meet or even exceed their client’s high expectations.

What are the roles and responsibilities of Yacht or Sail Boat Crew ?

The yacht or sail boat captain.

The captain is responsible for operating the vessel and maintaining security. This includes managing the crew, equipment and materials, relations with the employer, their family and guests. This role is at the top of the hierarchy with every crew member ultimately answerable to the captain. 

The yacht or sail boat engineer

The engineer is responsible for technical maintenance and operations of the vessel. He or she reports directly to the captain and manages the engineering team (electricians, IT specialists, technical assistants etc.).

The yacht or sail boat first officer / chief mate

Mega-yachts, super-yachts and larger sail boats may necessitate a second in command to the captain, or even a third (a second officer).  These act as direct subordinates, many of the captain’s responsibilities may be delegated to them and they are responsible for ensuring that his or her orders are carried out.  

The yacht or sail boat head steward / stewardess

The head steward(ess) is responsible for managing and overseeing cabin crew operations on board, inclusive of stewards, cleaning and kitchen staff. They are expected to handle all client requests relating to care and hospitality services, to organise calendars, meetings and cabin crew recruitment.

The yacht or sail boat chef

Every private yacht or sail boat owner and its cabin crew take great pride in the available on board cuisine.  The chef is a crucial member of the cabin crew and contributes to creating a luxurious, five-star service and relaxing atmosphere.  They are responsible for sourcing supplies and regulating stocks, ensuring that only the freshest, best quality produce is used and is available at all times. On board chefs are also generally required to cook for the engineering and cabin crew.

The yacht or sail boat sous-chef

On larger vessels, a sous-chef is often employed to works alongside the head chef, who is often Michelin-starred. They are required to assist with cooking and cleaning duties within the kitchen.  

The yacht or sail boat skipper / sailor

The skipper or sailor is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the exterior of the yacht and assist the captain in its operation. During dockings, the skipper helps guide the captain, secures the vessel and ensures it is sufficiently protected from potential damages. Larger vessels may require up to eight skippers. 

What accommodation should be expected for a Yacht / Sail Boat crew ?

When at sea, accommodation must be provided aboard the vessel.  On land, the crew is generally expected to arrange private accommodation. Crew members may sometimes be requested to stay on board in the absence of the employer to ensure the vessel is secure and well maintained. 

All our yacht and sail boat crews are required to:

• Hold clean criminal records in both their country of employment and country of origin
• Present all certificates and qualifications from training centres and/or schools they attended
• Successfully pass two interview stages
• Provide at least three positive references from previous employers
• Complete professional dossiers containing: CV, cover letter, proof of identity (photocopy or scan), proof of address, proof of the right to work in the country of employment (if applicable), driving license and pay slips from previous professional placements.  Candidates should be aware that other documentation may also be required.

Gary King’s Below Deck Sailing Yacht Scandal and Sexual Misconduct Allegations Explained

Bravo announced this week that Below Deck Sailing Yacht would make its triumphant return for Season 5 after a bit of a pause. Back at the helm is Captain Glenn Shephard . And Daisy Kelliher returns as the chief stew. One other familiar face will be returning, and that is Gary King . The rest of the cast is a bunch of greenhorns who will all live, work, and party together in Ibiza. The newest season comes after over a year since the series called time on Season 4, which aired back in July 2023. Gary’s position on the show has very much been up in the air since a production assistant accused the First Officer of making unwanted sexual advances.

Shortly after Below Deck Season 4 wrapped, Gary found himself in the middle of quite the scandal . In August 2023, a woman on the production team spoke out to Rolling Stone about Gary’s alleged bad behavior. The production assistant also accused the show of covering up Gary’s sexual indiscretions. Samantha Suarez opened up about Gary crossing the line with her more than once when she worked in the makeup department. She went as far as to allege that during Season 4, Gary tried to force himself onto her. At the time, the cast was in Sardina filming back in 2022. At the time, Samantha explained that the cast and crew were put up in the same hotel. Part of her job description was to assist the talent manager with daily tasks. This included keeping the cast sequestered in their room due to the COVID-19 rules.

Samantha explained that the entire cast, including Gary, were all disobeying the rules set by production. The victim told the outlet that she was given the task of walking a drunk Gary back to his room. She said, “There is no limit to alcohol consumption whatsoever, which I think poses a really big problem.”

Gary King was accused of crossing the line

As Samantha continued, the story seemed to get worse . According to the production assistant, Gary asked that she climb into bed with him. She claimed, “I was like, ‘I have to go—I need to go bring other people water and food,’ and he’s like, ‘No, no, please.” The assistant admitted she joked with him. She told him “that she would sit outside of his door to make sure he wouldn’t leave his hotel room.” As Samantha turned to leave, she claimed the Below Deck Sailing Yacht star moved behind her and “grabbed her and pressed her against his body, and refused to let go even though she says she tried to kick and elbow him.”

After the article was released , Gary was canceled from the 2023 BravoCon lineup. While his co-stars attended the Bravo shindig, some spoke out in defense of Gary. Colin MacRae shared via People  “I had a chat with him after that all came out. I think he’s going through a really tough thing. I don’t think that’s a nice thing to go through for anyone. There were two people in that room, and only they know what happened.” The engineer refused to comment further, adding, “So, yeah, I feel for him.”

Gary King could still be at risk of losing his job

If Bravo had kept to the same timeline, Season 5 would have already been filming by the time the Rolling Stone article broke . This means that Gary was already fully immersed in the show and still the First Officer. But there could also be a reason for the extremely long wait for the premiere date. The network could have been waiting to see if the allegations were dropped or debating editing Gary out entirely. However, since Gary is happily promoting the new season on social media, I would wager that he will play a big part in the upcoming season.

Gary has always maintained his innocence. The Below Deck Sailing Yacht star tried to acknowledge his Season 4 antics , which showed him in a love triangle with Daisy and Colin. He took to Instagram to note, “Contrary to what many of you may believe, I am still friends with Colin and Daisy. The last season of #belowdecksailing was not my best; having watched some episodes, I know that I have a lot of work and growing to do and will do everything to be a better person.” Gary sent a message to haters adding, “To all those people that constantly comment negatively and try bring me down, sticks and stones! You will not bring me down.”

Video posted on social media shows the moment Steve Jobs' former superyacht Venus collided with another yacht in Naples, Italy.

The video, posted by Mexican telecom billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego on X, shows the moment the 257-foot-long Venus, now owned by Steve Jobs' former wife Laurene Powell Jobs, collided with Pliego's 344 foot-long Lady Moura on July 22.

"You guys won't believe this, but our yacht was hit while we were in Naples," Pliego wrote to his followers on X. "Apple founder Steve Jobs' yacht (now owned by his wife Laurene) hit us while we were anchored off Naples."

Pliego added his boat only suffered a few large scratches, which "will cost a lot to repair."

"I would like to know what the (Venus) captain and crew were doing that they didn't see a yacht the size of mine in front of them."

In a statement to Business Insider, Emerson Collective, an organization that Powell Jobs founded and is president of, said the collision happened while both boats were anchoring off Naples, adding only the crew was onboard.

Designed by famed French architect Philippe Starck, Steve Job's Venus cost $120 million when it was built in 2012. The boat had its first voyage shortly after the Apple cofounder's death.
