The Most Impressive Superyacht Beach Clubs in the Business

Written By: Naomi Chadderton

Designing a superyacht is no easy feat. From lighting and cabin space to furniture, materials, artwork and accessories, there are 101 factors to consider. First things first? The beach club.

Oasis 40 beach club

Perhaps more important than ever before, the leisure space at a yacht’s stern, otherwise known as its beach club, has recently catapulted its way to the top of the list of priorities for superyacht owners who, alongside their designers and superyacht builders, are placing more emphasis on being close to the ocean than ever before.

From terraces complete with sea views to heavenly wellness centres, these seven slick superyachts are taking beach club design to a whole new level.

Resilience

As one of the newest yachts on the charter market, built just last year in 2021, the 64.76m superyacht Resilience was certainly designed with entertaining in mind. Brainchild of Enrico Gobbi and the Team 4 Design team, it’s home to two serene pools, one of which is located on the main deck aft with steps that lead down to the swim platform. Here the stern door folds down to sea level, creating an extremely sleek beach club with its own lounge complete with Murano glass bar.

An ideal setting to have a drink or two while waiting for your crew to swing around one of the Castoldi tenders, jet skis or many other water toys, it also makes for both a comfortable and stylish spot to laze away the day. On a wellness break? Resilience also comes complete with gym, Turkish bath and sea-view massage room on the lower deck.

Resilience beach club

A popular charter yacht since her inception back in 2008, the Abeking & Rasmussen-built B2 is a first-class vessel in every regard complete with fully-equipped gym, massage room and elevator to all decks.  Yet while her most impressive feature is perhaps her glass-bottomed pool which is located to aft on the main deck, what lies below it is one of the most stylish beach clubs on board a charter yacht which, with fold-down balconies port and starboard and the influx of light through the pool above, is bathed in rippled sunshine. Designed to be welcoming, she also has access to a whole host of advanced water toys – a strong selling point for any guest.

Taking the seaside resort philosophy to a whole new level, the Benetti Oasis 40m deck is as grand as they come. In fact, so successful is the superyacht’s design that she won a prize in the DNA Paris Design Award for its interior design, which was led by the team at Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture.

Flowing seamlessly from the cabin, the aft deck offers uninterrupted 270-degree views of the glistening ocean which is possible thanks to the pair of fold-down bulwarks that create free-flowing additional space. Guests will also find an integrated pool as part of the deck, which sits alongside loungers and a sun pad, making it one of the comfiest beach clubs to laze about on in style. If the sun gets too much for you, there’s also a partially-shaded space in which to recline.

Discreet sliding glass doors to keep the beach club cool, even on a scorching hot day? Check. Fully fitted bar? Check. White marble steam room inspired by the Turkish Hammams? Check. Everything about O’Ptasia’s serene beach club screams good times, right down to the generous swim platform with additional section that raises and lowers for easy access to the sea. But that’s hardly surprising seeing as her design was masterminded by the renowned Studio Vafiadis. Ideal for all weathers, whether you want full access to O’Ptasia’s array of water toys or simply want to relax on your sunbed with a freshly-mixed smoothie, this is the place to do it.

Tatiana

When Tatiana’s owner briefed Bilgin about the design of his new superyacht, the beach club was the first port of call. “They spend a significant part of summer on board so it was vital the yacht had generous socialising areas including a huge spa and beach club,” explains Tugba Sengun, marketing director of Bilgin Yachts. Created in collaboration with Antalya-based Unique Yacht Design, the team did just that.

Unusually placed on the lower deck in the middle of the yacht, Tatiana’s beach club is home to a stunning swimming pool complete with a special heating system that allows it to be enjoyed all year round. Its clear glass sliding doors allow for a sea view even in cold weather, with one opening up to a massage room and the other leading outside where sunbeds await.

Rather impressively, the beach club is also directly connected to the main saloon via a dramatic staircase and features a second pool – the two sit one above the other with the main deck pool boasting a glass bottom, allowing guests to see their friends and family swimming from below. Elsewhere, a fully-equipped gym with sauna on the portside lower deck and large movie theatre seal the deal.

When Golden Yachts unveiled is 95 metre charter yacht O’Pari back in 2020, it’s clear that the Greek yacht builder used its experience gained from the 13 vessels conducted before her to really outdo itself. Once more drafting in esteemed partner Studio Vafiadis to work its magic on her design scheme, she comes complete with huge longitudinal swimming pool on the bridge aft deck, touch-and-go helipad on the foredeck, forward jacuzzi on the sundeck plus outdoor cinema where guests can relax at the end of the day with a screening of the latest films under starlight.

Perhaps most impressive though is her multi-faceted beach club which has been painstakingly designed with guest enjoyment in mind. Here guests can relax with a treatment in the massage room, dry Finnish sauna or Turkish Hammam, with easy access to both the main and spa pools. Surrounded by sliding glazings, the lounge creates the feeling of being outside yet in the comfort of air conditioning, while a louvre-style ladder leads guests into the water below.

Tranquility

If you’re after a luxury wellness charter, the 91.5m Oceanco superyacht Tranquility could be just the ticket. Not only is her impressive lower deck wellness area home to a sauna, a hammam and massage room to name a few, but at 42 square metres, her open-plan beach club comes complete with bathing platform, fully-equipped bar and indoor lounge area that is the perfect chillout haven.

A generous and welcoming space, it also serves as the gateway through which guests embark when the yacht is at-anchor and from here they have direct access to the generous toy and dive store from the beach club and swim platform, as well as the aforementioned wellness area and its 64 square metre spa and 57 square metre gym. Whether you choose to fold out her balcony to starboard and roll out your yoga mat or pull up a sun lounger onto her bathing platform before cooling off in the sea, it doesn’t get more zen than this.

A closer look at 5 unique superyacht beach clubs

With endless options and limitless innovations when designing the aft deck of a superyacht, the beach club is a prized space onboard for spas, cinemas, cocktail bars, and much more; the opportunities are endless. Discover our round-up of some of the most unique superyacht beach clubs.

Ahpo | Lürssen Yachts | 115.1-metres | 2021

Impressive and brimming with details of distinguished craftsmanship, the 115.1-metre superyacht Ahpo , first delivered in 2021 by Lürssen Yachts, has mastered the art of onboard luxury. With interior design penned by Nuvolari Lenard, one of the superyacht's standout features is her hybrid beach club/wellness area, an opulent and exquisite space for guests to indulge in onboard. The beach club has a stylish bar, Jacuzzi, plunge pool, luxurious massage room, and a hammam. Each space is adorned with artisanal creations such as vibrant mosaic tile formations, curved metalwork, and handpicked natural furnishings crafted to stimulate a sense of peace. Ahpo's beach club brings guests closer to the water's edge while blurring the lines between an outdoor and indoor retreat, where everything is imaginable.

B2 | Abeking & Rasmussen| 85.65-metres | 2008

As radiant as the seascape it reflects, the 85.65-metre B2 superyacht is a floating oasis expanded across the entire aft deck. First delivered in 2008 by German yacht designers Abeking & Rasmussen, B2's beach club echoes that of a luxurious beach house with access to the water on both port and starboard.

As though plucked from a David Hockney Pop Art painting, the B2 beach club displays vibrant pops of colour, mirroring the recreational intention behind this bright aft deck space. The walls and deck are wrapped in natural materials like wood, linens, glass, and rattan, with the highlight being a splash of canary yellow upon the well-stocked bar. The B2 beach club is completed by a glass-bottomed pool on the main deck, forming the expansive ceiling for this abundant entertainment space perfected for pool parties, water sports, and aperitif tipples before dinner.

Faith | Feadship| 96.55-metres | 2016

Faith is one of the largest superyachts to be delivered by the Netherlands-based Feadship. First launched as Project Vertigo in 2016, the 96.55-metre superyacht is a "floating playground" with a beach club fully equipped with a gym, massage room, and an elevator to all decks. Faith's beach club is configured by the extensive 30-foot glass pool on the main deck, where the 8-foot deep end of the exceptional swimming pool dips down to form the transparent ceiling for the beach club below.

Faith's interiors were crafted by Chahan Interior Design and RWD, who opted for a classic nautical style — adorned with warm wooden surroundings and soft white textiles scattered with accents of royal blue. The expansive beach club is centred around the encaved wooden bar, which gives guests ultimate privacy. Completely open to the water, this beach club pays homage to the traditional navel style and provides ample amenities for opulent cocktail parties and family barbecues.

Andrea | CRN | 74-metres | 2017

CRN's exquisite 74-metre superyacht Andrea , previously Lady Jorgia and Cloud 9 , was delivered by the Italian shipyard in 2017. The substantial fold-down beach club is the primed place to relish in your morning ritual.

The large beach club showcases handcrafted tables, an elongated coffee bar, sun loungers, and an external shower with an extended sea-level platform. Timeless styling in the form of sumptuous furnishings and contemporary art features throughout, creating an elegant and comfortable atmosphere penned by a collaboration between Winch Design and Zuccon International Project.

The focal point of Andreas beach club is her espresso bar. Carefully crafted from variations of oak interwoven with flecks of mother-of-pearl, this luxurious furnishing allows guests to blissfully sip on a cappuccino after enjoying a morning dip. Andrea's beach club epitomises the joys of a superyacht where everyday moments, such as a morning coffee, are celebrated in the utmost luxurious conditions.

Here Comes The Sun | Amels | 89-metres | 2016

The largest superyacht ever built by Amels with a design by Tim Heywood at 89-metres, Here Comes The Sun , is impressive inside and out and features a beach club with boundless opportunities for those onboard. First delivered by the Dutch shipyard in 2016, the superyacht returned to Amels and Damen Yachting to undergo a radical one-year refit in 2020, extending the yacht from 83-metres to 89-metres, making way for a much larger aft deck.

Her replenished beach club boasts a sauna, steam room, plunge pool, massage room, and hairdressing salon. This classically designed beach club oozes elegance with dedicated details, even down to the bespoke light fixtures, creating a timeless yet homely ambiance. Open platforms on both sides of the beach club unveil panoramic views enabling abundant natural light to flood the space. An impressive bar against the forward bulkhead sweeps the entire wall expansion. Seharahn gold and marble furnishings punctuate the sophisticated beach club design, which pays homage to the original characteristics of the penned interiors by renowned Winch Design. Textured off-white hued walls compliment the plush white upholstery, forming a seating arrangement for indoors and outdoors, which is at the heart of this tranquil space.

Tatiana | Bilgin Yachts| 80-metres | 2020

The expansive 80-metre Tatiana , was first delivered in 2020 by Bilgin Yachts. The superyacht has a total volume of 1,689 GT with an impressive amount of space dedicated to the multi-level 110-square metre beach club.

Unlike other superyacht builds, the original owner of Tatiana was driven by the prospect of the beach club concept and set out to design a superyacht with the beach club acting as the core focus of the design process. Located on the lower deck starting from the centre, Tatiana's beach club is uniquely connected to the main saloon via a work of art sculptural staircase. This design choice is unorthodox. It allows for a subliminal flow throughout the yacht and further interconnects the beach club to the rest of the living quarters. Featuring two swimming pools, a fully-equipped gym, a cinema and a sauna on the portside lower deck. Guests onboard can relish in the delights of alfresco dining and outdoor activities. To top it all off the incredible swimming pools within the beach club are constructed to be a perfect temperature all year round.

Aquila | Derecktor | 85.06-metres | 2010

The Derecktor superyacht, Aquila has a substantial length of 85.6m. Delivered in the US in 2010, Aquila , previously named Cakewalk , is the largest British refit project to date by the renowned Pendennis in 2016. The UK-based shipyard honed in on Aquilas' beach club and gave her a makeover which included flooding the area with natural light courtesy of additional skylights along with a fully equipped gym and an array of storage for many water toys with access from the starboard stairwell.

Guests onboard can also indulge in a family movie night within the beach club space and relaxation can be taken to new heights with an extensive spa. The neutral interior aesthetic was penned by Dalton Design, which opted for a timeless and calming style. Off-white upholstered seating and stripped-back wooden decking carve out a space whereby the modern world becomes muted. Warm-hued lighting matched with soft beige furnishings overflows onto the deck area, where a sitting space provides endless views to gaze upon after a midweek massage or steam.

Aquijo | Oceanco| 86-metres | 2016

Aquijo is an 86-metre super sailing yacht built by Oceanco in collaboration with Vitters Shipyard, delivered in 2016. Aquijo is the largest high-performance, ketch-rigged sailing yacht built to-date, and the sixth largest sailing yacht in the world.

One of her outstanding features is her substantial beach club – rarely found on sailing boats – which features modern interior design by Dölker + Voges GmbH reminiscent of a cosmopolitan apartment transcending the traditional sailing yacht spirit to new elevated heights. Her expansive beach club includes a spa area with a steam room, a sauna, a lounge area and panoramic views. A notable feature within the Aquijo beach club is the centralised Jacuzzi taking centre stage whereby guests can enjoy expansive seascape views from the warmth of the bubbling water. Extending forward from the serene spa area is an impressive swim platform, offering guests direct access to the sea.

The Best Superyacht Beach Clubs For Easy Access To The Water

Expansive beach clubs onboard yachts for sale or charter..

The entertaining sundeck , comfortable bow seating, aft deck al fresco dining, and cozy main salon get all the attention on a yacht. But let’s not forget the humble beach club — a platform along the waterline between the port and starboard staircases.

A superyacht beach club is more than a place to swim and splash around, it’s an additional socializing and entertainment area. Often called the swim platform or transom garage, some yachts capitalize on this space to offer lounges, dining, a wet bar, gym, or spa. And boy, does it pay off. Beach clubs add a noticeable boost of luxury to the yacht. Whether you’re keen to transform your yacht’s garage or seeking a yacht with an established swim platform — we found 5 superyachts with the best beach clubs. Let’s get the party started.

Superyacht Beach Clubs

Nearly a decade ago, the stern of a superyacht wasn’t utilised for anything more than a temporary storage space for kayaks or diving equipment, it’s now been transformed to a stylish space for charter guests to relax and unwind. Beach clubs create an additional space for relaxing, dining, swimming – in fact, they enable guests to be as close to the water whilst still surrounded in total luxury. Our charter team have rounded up five amazing beach clubs within our charter fleet.

Launched by Sanlorenzo in 2017, the award-winning, 52m superyacht features a huge beach club that many other charterers will lust after. Think fold-down balconies, sauna, gym, and a glass ceiling looking upward to the yacht’s swimming pool. And for that James Bond touch, the centre section can lower and flood to allow tenders to drive right in.

Imagine yourself here with an ice-cold drink and the warm summer sunshine on you, it might just make for one of the most perfect moments during a yacht charter vacation.

SEVEN

The beach club is a destination in itself. Guests can relax here with drinks or snacks at the water’s edge and watch the world go by or get in on the action with the vessel’s great selection of water toys.

Yacht Beach Clubs

Yacht Beach Clubs

The best and finest models of luxury yachts have decks that allow more proximity to the water, simulating (almost perfectly) a beach ambiance. There are different types of beach clubs adapted for various yachts models. Many of them have details and workmanship in wood – or other materials more suited to the contact with water. One of the best examples is the beach club inserted in the Aquila’s yacht model (formerly Cakewalk), which has bars, lounges and an easy access to the spa, made in a beautiful wood finishing.

3 Top Luxury Yachts With Beach Clubs

Perhaps few beach clubs are as refined as the one of the Aquijo model (which is simply the largest ketch-type boat manufactured in the world), manufactured by Oceanco. This super-yacht has a space that functions as a true beach bar, with a beautiful whirlpool and a fantastic sauna. The ambient illumination is guaranteed by a magnificent skylight, ensuring that the sun will be your best travel companion.

Aquijo model by Oceanco including Beach Club - PerfectYachtCharter.com

If there’s an artwork made by Riva, it’s definitely the Excellence V luxury yacht , which has a beach club that is a real masterpiece. With a large space of 60 meters, it has a private bar that, with the opening of a side door, guarantees more space for lounge chairs with intense sunlight, which makes it perfect for sunbathing.

Excellence V luxury yacht by Riva including Beach Club - PerfectYachtCharter.com

Another excellent example is the Royal Denship’s Pegasus VIII , which has a beach club that’s a true veranda. With 78 meters, it’s one of the larger beach clubs. It’s more than enough for an incredible panoramic view and the perfect place to enjoy with family and/or friends.

Regardless of the model and the general characteristics of a beach club, the most important is the space’s ability to offer comfort, safety and convenience while providing a typical beach setting. Beach clubs with more space, favoring of natural lighting and accessibility should be at the top of the list. The good news is that, with the great competitiveness in this luxury market, your “job” will be to choose between the great and the excellent.

The 11 Most Exciting Superyacht Debuts at the Monaco Yacht Show

The Monaco Yacht Show always promises a stellar lineup— last year had an unusually large number of wild launches—and this time around will be no exception. More than 120 superyachts, including 20-plus that measure 200 feet and above, will be on the docks at Port Hercule, with beautiful Monte Carlo in the hills above.

Among the fleet of anticipated launches is the 400-foot Kismet . Built by Lürssen and launched earlier this year, this stunner will be shown before the winter charter season, at a weekly rate of $3.25 million. The vessel is sure to stand out, thanks to the large silver jaguar sculpture fitted under its bowsprit.

Besides bling, showgoers will notice the concerted push toward sustainability this year. Rossinavi has introduced the Seawolf X , its first hybrid-electric catamaran, and Nautor Swan’s sailing maxi yacht, DreamCatcher , is also its first hybrid. Sanlorenzo is launching Almax , its first 50-meter (165-foot) vessel with hydrogen fuel cells. It was developed with Siemens Energy.

Siemens is also sponsoring the show’s Sustainability Hub, which has become a breeding ground for eco-friendly concepts and new ideas to promote a greener superyacht sector. This year’s conference will cover alternative propulsion, outlining how it will be adopted over the next five years. The show’s Yacht Design & Innovation Hub takes a less technical approach to sustainability. It’s the place where leading designers and mainstream innovators converge, presenting vessels that will shape the future of superyacht design.

Here are 11 must-see boats at this year’s show.

Lürssen ‘Kismet’

The 400-foot Kismet is the most anticipated boat on display at Monaco this year. True to form, Shahid Khan’s third Lürssen, which charters for $3.25 million per week, will be an exceptional landmark in a marina of superyachts. Alongside its Nemo lounge for viewing marine life, a Balinese-inspired spa with the first chromotherapy bathtub on a yacht, and upper-deck dining options for 24 people, the vessel has a duplex owner’s apartment with two separate marbled bathrooms, a fireplace, and gilded wall coverings. When guests have had their fill of the DJ station and Bogányi piano, the ’80s retro matrix dance floor should keep the party going.

Royal Huisman ‘Special One’

Set to make a splash is Royal Huisman’s 171-foot Special One , the largest sportfisherman in the world. Commissioned by an experienced yachtsman and passionate fisherman, the monster sportfish is kitted out with a fighting chair, 22 fishing rods, insulated cooler boxes, and a dedicated bait-and-tackle room. The teak foredeck can transition into a sheltered private lounge area and also converts to an outdoor cinema. Designed by Vripack, the vessel offers up proportions and seakeeping capabilities that are matched by its impressive 30-knot top speed.

Rossinavi ‘Seawolf X’

Looming large above the water, the 140-foot Seawolf X is Rossinavi’s most ambitious build to date. The hybrid-electric catamaran is the Italian shipyard’s first multihull, which can stay in electric mode during transatlantic trips for 80 percent of the time. Even more impressive is the onboard artificial intelligence system—Rossinavi AI—which analyses the operation of the vessel, predicts the needs of guests and optimizes crew service and logistics. The interior is designed by New York-based Meyer Davis, with an exterior penned by Fulvio De Simoni Yacht Design. Its wow features include a cockpit centered around a pool, a second hidden pool on the bow area, and an outdoor cinema.

Bilgin ‘Eternal Spark’

Eternal Spark is the first hull in Bilgin’s 163 series. In addition to six outdoor and three indoor lounge areas, the yacht can host over 100 people while at anchor from its five dedicated bar areas. Hot Lab’s use of wood inlays and embossed natural leather create a refined interior aesthetic, while the combination of a huge beach club, sauna, pool, and two cinemas—outdoor and indoor—should keep guests happy. Built with over 200 different materials, it shows how advanced the Turkish yard has become with its last few launches.

Sanlorenzo ‘Almax’

Sanlorenzo’s first fuel-cell-powered 50Steel model joins a growing list of yacht launches exploring alternative power sources. The fuel-cell technology converts biomethanol (green methanol) into enough electricity to cover the hotel load so the yacht can anchor all night without generators. Almax also has Sanlorenzo’s newly patented Hidden Engine Room (HER), located on the lower deck. This novel configuration creates enough interior volume to include a 1,615-square-foot beach club with a pool and unfolding sea terraces, while keeping the yacht below 500GT. The shipyard has confirmed the sale of four units to date.

Custom Line50

Making its global debut a Monaco, the four-decked Custom Line50 is the Italian shipyard’s new flagship model. The dedicated owner’s apartment on the upper deck includes full-height windows, a full-beam suite, and a large private terrace. The sun deck’s lounge seating, cocktail bar, uninterrupted views, and glass-edged infinity pool amplify the sense of being on a floating island. It’s an effective design that is replicated on the main aft deck. This area offers stepped access to the sea, a scenario that is reinforced by an aquamarine-and-cream interior color scheme.

Damen ‘Five Oceans’

The newest model from Damen’s Yacht Support 53 range, Five Oceans was built for Tommy Allen, an entrepreneur committed to ocean exploration and marine conservation. The vessel will be easy to spot in Monaco’s Port Hercules, thanks to its powder-blue, orange, and white hull. The custom build is Allen’s second yacht-support vessel from Damen. It has a sprawling aft deck to carry toys and tenders as well as a 15-ton deck crane for the launch and recovery of the electric boats and Triton 3300 Pro submersible. Five Oceans also carries an Icon A5 amphibious aircraft.

Tankoa ‘Diamond Binta’

Conceived as a world explorer, Tankoa’s 190-foot Diamond Binta blends a hybrid propulsion package with high-gloss finishes over a wooden interior. Penned by Francesco Paszkowski, Tankoa’s long-time design collaborator, the full custom build has an owner’s suite with a fold-out balcony, a forward helideck for shore-based excursions, a large beach club with a spa, and massage room as well as a sundeck with a gym and pool. A corridor on the lower deck connects the yacht’s five guest cabins to the beach area, passing through a viewable engine room.

Nautor Swan ‘DreamCatcher’

As Nautor Swan’s first hybrid yacht, the 88-foot DreamCatcher is described by the shipyard as a “no-compromise cruiser with a racer’s soul.” Designed for guest comfort with a maximum heeling angle of 20 degrees, its exterior is penned by veteran Swan designer Germán Frers, while the light-wood interior with gray accents is done by Misa Poggi. The aft cockpit has a new coachroof design with an integrated sprayhood, bimini, and modular benches that can be used for both lounging and dining. The stern area incorporates a large beach club area and tender garage. On the foredeck is the “sunset lounge.”

Oceanco ‘H3’

Built in 2000 as 312-foot Al Mirqab for a member of the Qatari royal family, the renovated H3 emerged from Oceanco’s facilities in 2023 looking brand new, with an extra 476 gross tons of internal volume. The vessel’s 33-foot extension—to accommodate the owner’s request for an infinity pool with a convertible dance floor and waterfall—and a fully replaced superstructure were enough for Lloyd’s Register to classify the yacht as a new build. A spa on the lower deck has a hammam, a sensory shower, a hair salon, and treatment rooms. The beach club with its rippled mirror ceiling offers stepped access to the sea.

Conrad ‘Extra Time’

Extra Time , the second hull in Conrad’s C144 series, has an exterior by Reymond Langton Design and naval architecture by Diana Yacht Design. The interior is by M2 Atelier. Much like its sistership Ace , Extra Time has a beach club, four guest lounge areas, a cinema, two bars and an infinity pool. Standout personal touches include an attention-grabbing King Kong  sculpture in the main salon and the main-deck owner’s suite that’s accessed via a private study with an electric piano.

At the center of the C lies an atrium with floating stars and a lift without walls that allows seafarers to navigate decks in a novel fashion. Highlights of the living quarters include a duplex owner’s suite, a partially enclosed sea lounge that can be used at anchor or on the waves, a beach club with a sea-level dining area, and a private observation deck with an articulating crow’s nest. To top it off, C is outfitted with two infinity pools that match the hexagonal shape of the atrium and other seating areas.

Feadship Project 821

C also shines on the technology front. She features a sleek hull and a fully electric propulsion system similar to sisterships Breathe and Savannah that renders her 30 percent more efficient than a typical 246-footer with dual shafts, propellers, and rudders, according to Feadship. Her streamlined underwater profile means less wake, too.

C will also be equipped with fuel cells and lithium-metal batteries that will together cover all power needs. (Feadship has also incorporated fuel cells on Project 821 .) Green methanol will be the fuel of choice due to its relatively high density and ease of use. Normal cruising speed on the fuel cells is 14 knots, while a top speed of 17 knots can be achieved by adding the battery power. In addition, two wave-actuated fins can generate enough grunt to cover one-third of the hotel load.

C will be fully unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show next week. The yacht is just a concept at this stage, but Feadship says she is completely buildable. Perhaps the yard will land a buyer in France.

Feadship C concept yacht

Feadship announces 75m superyacht concept powered entirely by fuel cells

Dutch yard Feadship has announced a new, 75-metre concept known as C, with full details to be revealed at this year's Monaco Yacht Show . The superyacht has been designed by Studio de Voogt to commemorate Feadship's 75th Diamond Anniversary.

C is inspired by the design of a diamond and how its facets reflect and magnify light, which manifests in the use of glazing to "draw light deep into the yacht's interior". Her hull shape and fully electric propulsion system marks an evolution from the shipyard's concept Breathe, revealed in 2010 and the award-winning Savannah .

This concept is predicted to be "30 per cent more efficient than a typical 75-metre yacht", according to Feadship, with dual shafts, propellers, rudders and an underwater profile tailored to produce less wake. The yacht will also follow on from Feadship's ground-breaking Project 821 by drawing 100 per cent of her power needs from fuel cells directly running on methanol and complimented by lithium-metal batteries.

Other "innovations" on board C are the partially enclosed lower deck sea lounge, to be used at anchor or underway, a beach club with sea-level dining, a duplex owner’s suite and an articulating crow’s nest rising from a private observation deck. A pair of infinity-edge hexagonal pools match the shapes of various seating areas and the atrium.

The new concept also follows on from an earlier concept, Pure, and the recently-delivered Ulysses with a fully digital command centre and navigation hub that includes "the latest in intelligent situational awareness technology with cameras and data fusion".

The yacht is expected to reach a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots. Additional power for the hotel load will be generated passively by two pairs of wave-actuated fins that fold out from the hull aft of the anchors.
