The Kent Island Yacht Club offers indoor and outdoor space and a million-dollar view!  We sit snugly on the Kent Narrows with breathtaking views over  10 acres.  Our Dining Room, outdoor lawn, and grounds are large enough to accommodate up to 125 guests indoors and 400 guests on the lawn for a tented event.  We also offer complimentary parking, on-site catering, and the best-dedicated staff experienced with executing your special event and catering to all your needs.  

No Membership is required to host events.   We look forward to hosting your special event.

Rebecca + nick : kent island yacht club wedding {maryland eastern shore wedding photographer}.

Math and chemistry go hand-in-hand so it’s no wonder that Rebecca and Nick met while they were both teaching at Washington College in Chestertown, Rebecca being the math girl and Nick being the chemistry guy.  I loved loved loved how they brought that part of themselves into their wedding decor at the Kent Island Yacht Club with centerpieces of lab glassware filled with all sorts of flowers and table numbers with little facts about each number.  The perfect combination.  And being somewhat of a science nerd myself, I felt right at home amongst the beakers, flasks, and dropper bottles.  I thought it was seriously the coolest thing.

This was one of the most laid back and comfortable weddings I’ve ever photographed which, I think, should speak volumes about how great Rebecca and Nick are.  They’re both sweet and smart and completely in love with each other.  I felt like their friend and Nick cracked me up the whole time…….well technically I cracked him up for some reason…..the boy could barely keep from laughing every time the camera was on him which, in turn, cracked me up.  And I can’t go without mentioning that Rebecca and Nick said that one of their favorite things to do together is nap.  Ummm….my kind of people!!!

Rebecca and Nick – thank you so much for bringing me into your lives for your wedding day.  It was truly an honor and so much fun!!

Mel and Kurt were married at the Kent Island Yacht Club overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. They had a beautiful ceremony surrounded by their closest family and friends and we had some amazing weather for their portraits by the docks and boats around the club. We had a wonderful time with this group and loved getting some fun sunset photos with the bridal party and kids!

Geneva’s stunning lace dress was an absolute showstopper -- completing the goal that every bride sets out to accomplish on her wedding day. The close-fit of the dress complemented her petite frame while not feeling overdone. Finishing off her look with a curled half-updo , simple jewelry, and natural makeup, Geneva’s natural beauty shined through during every moment of the big day.

For a dramatic and flowy look that brought effortless beauty and depth to the day, Geneve chose these beautiful burgundy gowns for her bridal party. Dresses varied ever so slightly in style to fit the style and body type of each bridesmaid. These flowing dresses were a hit from the aisle to the dancefloor and complemented Geneva’s all-over lace gown beautifully.

The Schaffles chose to complement the rich burgundy dresses with classic tan suits for the groomsmen. Tying in the warm red tones with maroon ties, the wedding party had a beautifully cohesive look that was perfect for the waterfront venue. However, the couple decided that the groom would wear a navy suit to stand out from the bunch, creating a beautiful color scheme for the entire party. They topped off the look with fun socks on the groomsmen to add a little personality to the dressed-up attire.

In the end, the result was a collection of stunning photographs in full color and black & white that the couple is sure to treasure for years to come.

Catered by the Smokehouse Grill , guests enjoyed a buffet-style selection of delicious appetizers, locally-sourced vegetables and meats, and a selection of fresh side dishes. The Smokehouse Grill served a hot meal to all 175 guests efficiently and with astounding above and beyond service. Both delicious and affordable, the Schaffles were able to please their guests with an unbelievable meal without breaking the bank on their stunning wedding day.

Draping Table Decor & Colored Glasses

The Schaffles adorned their wedding reception with simple, earthy decor that highlighted the elegance of their event. Combining branches of eucalyptus with vintage candlesticks atop draping white linens, Geneva & Benjamin created an effortless, airy look that looks great both indoors and out. They topped the table with colored drinkware for another touch of whimsy and surprising beauty.

Schaffle Cake Topper

A classy cake topper that to end the evening.

While celebrating and dancing the night away, the Schaffles and their guests capped off the evening with a beautiful layered wedding cake topped with a cursive ‘Schaffle’ cake topper . As an elegant alternative the traditional bride and groom figurines, this cake topper helped create a cohesive look for this fun and airy wedding sprinkled with whimsy.

A Kent Island Yacht Club Wedding – Robin & Patrick! 9.15.2012 * Kent Island Wedding Photographer *

Welcome to a beautiful Kent Island Yacht Club wedding of Robin and Patrick! Before we ended up in the gorgeous Kent Narrows area of Kent Island , for a night full of beautiful photos and fun, we started the day off at the equally beautiful, St. Peter the Apostle in Queenstown! You know that little brick church that you could almost run into, on the side of Rt 50, coming home from the beach? That’s where they had their ceremony! I have driven by it for years and have seen photos of the inside, but Robin and Patrick’s wedding was the first time I had ever taken my own! What a charming place to say their vows! Back at the KIYC , we were able to take advantage of their unobstructed views of the awesome sunset and skies, then went back inside, to dance the night away! It was easy to tell that these two are very in love and we were happy to be there, to document it all for them! Congrats to the newlyweds!
