Who We Are?

Lazy days skippered boat charters uses a 46foot Azimut flybridge motor yacht owned and operated by Richard and Pat. There is ample seating inside and out plus our sky lounge with sunshade if required, sunbath on our fore deck at anchor or use our large swim platform (with hot shower)to swim from, paddle boards are available or just paddle your feet and watch the world go by with music of your choice. There is a large cool box that will be full of ice and soft drinks you are welcome to bring your own alcohol. All prices include all fuel skipper and host. We include hot and cold refreshments and lovely sandwich platter. There is a tender aboard for trips to the beach and extra water sports can be arranged.

All Day Local Charter 9:30am - 4:30pm (7 hours)

Our all day charter is seven hours aboard normally starting at 9.30am, this can be changed to suit your needs, we will welcome you aboard at pool quay boat haven, settle you in then give you a safety briefing before cruising through Poole harbour past brown sea island and the sandbanks peninsula where we can if you wish speed up for an exhilarating ride to east Swanage where we can anchor in the shelter of the cliffs a lovely spot to swim or use our paddle boards, or just relax and take in the views. We can then get up close to the cliffs travelling past the old Harry formation for some great pictures and on to Studland Bay, where we will serve you lunch, another opportunity to swim or paddle board. Additional Watersports can be arranged on request ,then a nice sedate ride back to Poole and a tour of furzey South deep and green island before returning to Poole quay. This for guidance you may customise your own day. pastries, sandwiches and fruit platters included! £1400 for 10 guests, £65 per person for extra 2 (12 guests)

Yacht Charter Poole

With its beautiful natural harbour, sheltered sailing and cosmopolitan vibe, the Dorset town of Poole is one of the jewels of the English South Coast.

It looks like we couldn't find a boat in our system.

The harbour itself is sheltered thanks to its shape, with the Sandbanks Peninsula protecting the waters inshore from the weather and seas. Its natural protection make it popular with all sorts of water sports enthusiasts from kite surfers to canoeists, and yes motor yacht and sailing yacht sailors.

A short sail from Sandbanks is the uninhabited Brownsea Island where Baden Powell used to train the Boy Scouts. Today you can enjoy its unspoiled wilderness before pottering back to the main town.

Ashore the town has an excellent seafront overlooking the Sunseeker superyacht factory where you can enjoy your favourite tipple over a good dinner at the local pubs and restaurants and watch them - even if you may only dream of owning such a luxury vessel yourself!

The RNLI also has a lifeboat factory and is based in Poole, teaching its volunteers the essential techniques you will hope you'll never have to receive. The town is a water sports enthusiast's paradise and well worth a visit at the start of your yacht charter.

Explore Poole By Renting A Yacht

Just to the south west of Poole is Studland Bay on Dorset's Purbeck Peninsula, a magnet for tourists every summer. Do be aware that a stretch of the sand dunes is still a nudist colony so not always a sight for the younger crew's eyes!

Round the famous Old Harry Rocks to the west and you will see the start of the Jurassic Coast with its fossils and quaint seaside towns like Swanage. Just beyond though is the military artillery firing range, which has a 12 mile exclusion zone out to sea - to get to Lulworth Cove on the other side for example, you'll need to do a detour of around 30NM instead of heading straight there.

The firing range is often why sailors in these parts tend to look east to the Solent, Isle of Wight and much of the South Coast as opposed to the South West. On your Poole yacht charter you can cruise to the east or perhaps follow the ferry out to the Channel Islands, a day's sail to the south.

How To Get To Poole

Road: Poole is just off the A31 dual carriageway that connects to the M27 and is around 2.5 hours from Central London. Those coming from the west can come down the A35 from Exeter.

Rail: Poole is on a main train line to London Waterloo. Trains run every hour during the week. Nearby Bournemouth has a cross-country service running to the Midlands.

Air: Nearby Bournemouth Airport has flights to much of Europe.

There are five major marinas in Poole that are home to yacht charter boats. You can bareboat charter or take a skippered yacht charter on a catamaran , monohull sailing yacht or motor yacht out on the out to the Jurassic Coast, Channel Islands or Solent with these as a base. They all have excellent marina facilities.

Suggested Sailing Routes From Poole

Where would you like to go on a Poole yacht charter? Many sailors are happy just to stay within a few miles, such are the delights to be had of the local waters! Brownsea Island and Studland Bay are enough for most! The Jurassic coastline or the Isle of Wight are less than a day's sail away - though you could reach the Channel Islands on your luxury yacht charter or bareboat boating holiday, the choice is yours.

The Solent - 7 days: On a seven day trip down to the Solent you can take in a stretch of the Jurassic Coastline, pausing at Swanage on your way east to Cowes on the Isle of Wight. The yachting nightlife is as good as Poole's but you may wish to take a break so why not head to Chichester Harbour for its laid back salt marshes. Heading back west you can stop at Portsmouth for another good evening ashore and then perhaps Lymington or Christchurch on the way back.

7 days - Poole and the Channel Islands: With a 60NM first and last leg, you may wish to do this on a skippered charter though with the appropriate offshore sailing skills it is almost always within sight of shore. The almost unspoiled island of Alderney is your first stop, that has escaped the throng of tourists through the years. Guernsey would be another day ashore, and then the smaller Channel Islands of Sark and Herm before you head back. It's worthwhile considering a pause at the Isle of Portland on an evening and you can see much of the Jurassic Coast from before returning to Poole.

Best Times To Hire A Yacht In Poole

The sailing season runs from late March to mid September on the UK South Coast, though you will see hardier types afloat throughout the year. There can be gales at any time of year, with Westerlies especially fierce along the Jurassic Coast and the Solent. In the peak boat rental season of July and August it can still be fun sailing, though the bars and marinas can be expensive and full.

The Purbeck Peninsula and Sandbanks Peninsula can be extremely busy in peak summer of July and August so it could pay to do a Poole yacht charter at a different time of year.

Sailing Weather In Poole

April and May: Westerlies prevail but you will often find warm days with brisk sailing conditions of a F4-5. Gales will come through earlier in the year. This is Britain - expect rain!

June-August: In June there will be southerly and westerly gales at times but these tend to die out in July and August with the Azores High moving north and providing settled conditions and light easterlies. Expect temperatures in the high 20s C range with the odd few days at 30C plus. As ever, keep your oilies to hand as even in the height of summer things can change.

September-October: Grey skies and gales start to return. While often in the high teens Celsius in September with some great sailing conditions, the westerly procession of lows start coming up the English Channel and things can get a little uncomfortable by early October.

Frequently asked questions

The main points to consider are what is your budget, have you got the necessary sailing experience and qualifications to manage the boat if it's not going to have a skipper, whom you are taking sailing, where exactly you wish to go and what will the weather be like on the proposed dates of your trip.

There are five main marinas in the Dorset town of Poole - Cobbs Quay has 850 berths while Salterns has 270. The Portof Poole and Poole Quay have 200 berths, and the smaller Parkstone Bay Marina has 50 pontoon berths and 100 swinging berths.

May to August is best for sailing, though the first week of August is Cowes Week and launches the peak sailing season locally where it can be difficult to get a berth or table at a restaurant!

You will typically pay 50% upfront on booking the yacht hire and the balance on arrival. You will either pay a security deposit with your credit card on departure or can get insurance covering damage in advance. In some cases (such as the recent Covid situation) charter companies may be more flexible but this depends on the individual charter companies themselves.

If you are at sea and in danger, call MAYDAY on VHF Ch16 or ring the coast guard on your phone if you have reception. If you have a mechanical fault and can make it to or are on a mooring you will be able to phone a help line number given by the boat charter company.

You should consider do you have the experience to handle the yacht charter or boat hire before you book and where do you want to go along with what the weather will be like. Bring warm weather and cool weather clothing if it looks like the weather can be cool as well as warm and remember at sea it can be cool on most evenings.

If you want to sail without a skipper then you will need relevant qualifications like RYA Day Skipper/International Certificate of Competence (ICC)/ASA 104 Bareboat certificate or the US Sailing Certificate. For small 'day boats' or if you choose to have a skippered on board your yacht charter you typically don't require licences.

Where does the poole private boat go.

For a shorter cruise, or a cruise from November to the end of March, City Cruises Poole will sail around Poole Harbour, sailing past Brownsea Island, Sandbanks Peninsula, Millionaire’s Row and more (2 – 3 hours). Weather dependent the cruise can also sail towards Old Harry Rocks past Studland Bay. For a longer cruise (3 – 4 hours) the boat will take you through The Harbour, then past Studland Bay, Old Harry Rocks, The Jurassic Coast and into Swanage Bay, then back to Poole Harbour through Poole Bay.

What sights will I see on the Poole private boat hire?

Harbour & Islands Cruise – Poole Quay, Brownsea Island, Brownsea Castle, (Furzey Island, Green Island – subject to tides), Sandbanks Peninsula, Millionaire’s Row. Jurassic / Swanage trip – Poole Harbour as above + Studland Bay, Old Harry Rocks, Jurassic Coast, Swanage Bay.

There are 4 boats in the Poole fleet. The two smaller boats can accommodate up to 80 guests and the two larger boats can accommodate up to 120 guests for a private party.

Does your Poole charter boat have an outside deck?

Yes, all our boats have at least one outer deck as well as an indoor saloon. All decks have seating on them

Are kids allowed on board your Poole charter boat?

Yes of course! They would just need to be accompanied by an adult.

Can we have decorations on the Poole charter boat?

Yes of course! You can decorate the Poole charter boat in whichever way you wish, ie. Balloons, banners, flags, bunting etc. However some items are not allowed such as glitter, confetti, small streamers or open flames such as candles.

Is the Poole charter boat wheelchair accessible?

Due to the fluctuation of tides our boats are not fully wheelchair accessible. Guests must be able to walk the gangway onto the boats and the wheelchair will be stored on board during your trip. Of course our crew are there to help!

Which pier can we embark/disembark at?

Poole Quay is our main location, but we also offer our Jurassic Circular Cruises and Swanage to Poole sightseeing cruises from the victorian Pier in Swanage.

Can we have our Poole private boat hire event go past 10:30pm?

Unfortunately not.

Do you cater for all dietary requirements?

Yes, we cater for most dietary requirements, including gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, lactose free, coeliac, peanut & seafood allergies. Please speak to our sales team on booking as we need to be notified of any allergies 2 weeks prior to the day of the event.

Do you do vegetarian and vegan options?

Yes, we do vegetarian and vegan options.

Do you do halal food?

Yes, all our food is halal, except for the dishes containing pork.

Can we bring our own food and drinks on the Poole private boat hire?

If your Poole private boat hire event is off peak, you may be able to bring your own food onboard. This would need to be with a licensed caterer, and we would need to discuss their requirements and see proof of insurance. You wouldn’t be able to bring your own soft drinks or alcohol. The only exception would be for specialty drinks we can not supply. There will be a corkage fee in these cases.

When do you need to know final numbers?

We would need to know final numbers at least 2 weeks prior to the Poole charter boat event.

When do you need the final payment?

We would need final payment at least 2 weeks prior to the Poole private boat hire event also. We ask for 50% of the full charge on confirmation as a deposit and this is non refundable.

Do you allow ticketed events?

We may consider a ticketed event and this would need to be discussed with the sales team when enquiring. Any ticketed events need to book our security guards at the ratio of 1 guard to 30 guests. All guests will be expected to carry ID with them and bags will be searched on entering the boat. Any incidences on board will mean the trip will be terminated and the boat will return to harbour immediately.

Do you allow 18th and 21st birthday parties?

We do not host birthdays under 25 as standard. If it is a small sit down family event, an exception may be granted.

Do you allow smoking on the Poole charter boats?

Yes, in the designated smoking areas only.

Moving up a level we have our capacious flybridge area.  With plenty of seating to accommodate all 12 guests, this is the exterior area you are likely to spend most of your time.  The flybridge is fitted with a hard top roof, covering the main body of the deck.  Within the structure there is a retractable roof and a further aft sun canopy, with a flick of a switch the flybridge can either be in full sun or full shade.  A bar, complete with ice maker and fridge, further enhances this spectacular entertaining deck.

The 32.00m (105') luxury motor yacht ROGUE was built by Poole Chaffee in 1984 and refitted in 2020. Her classic and inviting interiors offer accommodation for up to 8 charter guests in three deluxe cabins, while a crew of 4 offers a professional and friendly service throughout the entire charter vacation.

From the lower deck aft, the spacious swim platform provides an excellent place to spread out with the water toys or sunbathe, and there is direct access to the sea via the ladder. Two staircases lead up to the main deck aft, where guests can dry off in the sunshine and enjoy an alfresco meal on the stern sofa with raised dining table and additional chairs to serve up to six guests.

A port staircase allows for quick external access to the upper deck, where guests can wallow in the Jacuzzi while the expert on board chef prepares a meal on the barbeque. The wet bar is placed forward and has an excellent selection of drinks to complement any meal, and a TV is available for a wide selection of films. To the stern, L-shaped seating is integrated into the starboard side with a movable table for drinks and dining, and the port section has a sun pad for resting after a hearty meal.

Another port side staircase connects up to the sundeck, which has an outdoor helm station shaded by a hardtop, plus a selection of sun pads and a forward loveseat for uninterrupted views of the scenic location.

In front of the bridge, a spread of sun pads can be accessed via a set of stairs above the padded sofa seating, and sun pads are also integrated into the bow.

INTERIOR Luxury yacht ROGUE retains her original classic styling in the wooden panelling used throughout the interiors yet the furnishings have been updated to offer modern comfort and styling in neutral colours that blend perfectly with the surroundings.

The lower deck contains the tender garage, engine room, crew accommodation in the bow and guest accommodation amidships consisting of three queen cabins and one twin, each with an en-suite bathroom. The main deck contains a spacious lounge fitted with a forward bar that has an excellent selection of beverages to suit all events. Two sofas on the port side form an L-shaped seating area completed by armchairs and a coffee table, and a widescreen TV is mounted on the aft wall for evening films or while in transit. Opposite, a large formal dining table provides understated elegance for meals between six guests.

A pair of Caterpillar (3412) 1,350 HP diesel engines produces a maximum speed of 12 knots and a cruising speed of 10 knots.
