1975 Morgan 33 out island What is it worth??
- Add to quote
I have a 1974 oi33 that I got for free. The boat sank at the dock and needed all interior replaced-still in the works. The boat is big for 33ft and heavy/solid. The price of 24k is in the ball park of what they were asking 5 years ago when I got the boat. Actually from 19k-32k for what I saw listed back then. Allot depends on the condition of the boat and all its big ticket items,ie engine model and condition, sail inventory and condition, hull and bottom condition, dodger/bimini. and all electrical/electronics. The boat is a solid foundation and is worth what someone is willing to pay. A marine survey is warranted if you get serious. DO a google search to see what others are asking for their boats, and what condition they are in. This is a hard time for boat sales, so you can certainly make an offer and see what happens. My boats PO was asking 3k, but was talking about what all the parts were worth if parted out. I told him I would take it off his hands for free and he accepted. I pumped out all the water, patched some hole cleaned the inside, attached and outboard and bracket and sailed it home some 100NM singlehand. The boat has a history of hull-to-deck joint leaks so I filled inside with bondoglass and fiberglassed from the inside. good solid boat and I plan to retire and live on it when the time comes. good luck.
Look at website 'sailboatdata' 1 tab with Morgan OI 33 Another tab with most any glass sailboat in the ballpark Compare the weights You will find the Morgan OI weight is a ton (2,000 pounds) more than 99% of same size glass sailboats Look at sailboatdata website for any boat in ballpark, see "displacement" , subtract weight of ballist, divide by length in feet, giving you average weight of stuff that makes a boat , and compare the M-OI to any glass sailboat. You will find Charlie Morgan went bankrupt giving you more bang for the buck Never go inside a Morgan OI 33 cabin, as the interior volume is double 99 % of other 33 foot sailboats and you will never be able to go into the cabin of another 33 foot sailboat without felling sad for its owner. Put more (removable) ballist in the air space below the engine in the keel, and a bowsprit, if you want more sailing performance.

Charles Morgan was already well known as a designer of one particularly successful racer, ‘Paper Tiger’, when he started building another of his designs, the TIGER CUB, on his own. But it wasn’t until 1965 when he joined forces with long time friend, Bruce Bidwell, and began to build the successful MORGAN 34. This was followed, most notably, by the MORGAN 24, 30, 41, and 45. The OUT ISLAND 41, introduced in 1970, became legendary as a no-frills, center-cockpit standard, especially in the charter trade. Charles Morgan’s involvement in the company ended in 1972. Since that time, the company was passed from one corporate entity to another, until it came into the hands of Catalina Yachts in 1984. Catalina continued with a few models, including the OUT ISLAND 41, before the Morgan name was retired.

Morgan OI 33 side drawing3000×4000 1.16 MB. Hello thethomaswastaken, After taking a closer look, the drawings we had for the Out Island 33 were taken from the preliminary plans drawn in 1972. We have what we believe is an original brochure showing an interior layout similar to what you have sent so we replaced the drawing.
