The Selene 38 Voyager Aft-cabin is based on the successful Archer design with several technical improvements like  Diamond Sea Glaze sliding doors, optional Seakeeper gyro stabilization, Li-Ion batteries, a new electricity management system, a sea-chest for easier maintenance, an optional water maker with high-voltage auto-clean system, etc… A happy and classy gentleman’s yacht which has been cruising in British Columbia, the Bahamas, the Greek islands and South-East Asia for decades already. This beautiful and charming pocket yacht has always been incredibly popular because of its unique layout which guarantees privacy to four people or two couples. Because of its moderate size it can be hauled-out by the smallest Travelift and accommodated in almost any marina anywhere in the world. Thanks to its classic lines designed by Howard Chen and the legendary marine architect Ted Hood, winner of the 1972 America’s Cup, the Selene 38 Aft-cabin model is, and will remain, one of Howard Chen’s favorite yachts. When creating this yacht the designers adopted the unique concept of the “Whale Back” hull, that was a trademark of Ted Hood’s designs. This is why the aft cabin concept has so much headroom and space in the engine room. It probably has the best engine room layout for its size anywhere.

While the Selene 38 Voyager Aft-cabin is a legendary yacht, she doesn’t compromise on modern technology and first class components, like the recent addition of Diamond Sea Glaze doors, improved sound-proofing, optional air-conditioning, generator and larger aluminum fuel tanks for extensive cruising. Howard says that the best-selling yachts of all time were the Grand Banks 36-42, but when their production ended for a while Howard decided he wanted to bring a high quality compact trawler back to the market. He wanted to build an elegant yacht with traditional timber joinery, leather upholstery, teak & holly floors, a spacious interior with two cabins and two heads, a cozy salon, a practical galley and safe decks. Gather around the spacious settee with "Buttery Soft" leather-like fabric for a meal, playing games or reading a book while sipping on your favorite libation from the liquor cabinet.

Spacious 2 cabin layout. Both cabins come with custom (Extremely Comfortable) Inter spring mattresses, reading lights and Hella Turbo Fans. 

Beneteau did a great job with the galley layout. Located aft on the stbd side. Meal prep is a breeze with spacious counters, double S/S sink and storage. Plenty of handholds and a gimbaled 3-burner propane stove/oven. Under-counter refrigerator sits athwart-ship, so when you are on a tack and the door is opened, contents are less likely to empty in front of you. By the way, the Adler-Barber unit is NEW.  The freezer is DEEP and cold, perfect for cruising and putting a chill on your favorite beverage. A microwave along with pots and pans are included.

September is a classic Down East yacht built by Jarvis Newman who was noted for building commercial fishing boats and classic yachts. These yachts do not become available very often and when they do, they don’t last long on the market. September is a 2-stateroom yacht with 2 heads, a fully functional galley, a larger salon, and a fly bridge with plenty of room. There are two steering stations, both with fully functional helms. There is a large teak aft deck and, throughout the yacht, teak and holly flooring.  

In 2000, the engines were replaced with Caterpillar 3196s, which have just been rebuilt and now have only 60 hours. In 2023, extensive work and upgrades were done bringing the yacht to excellent condition.

For the last 12 years September has cruised up and down the east coast and to the Bahamas. The owner has finished his cruising and has decided to sell the yacht.

The Tiara 43 LE is the first in the company’s new series of performance cabin cruisers. If it looks fast, it’s because it is fast. This boat, powered by twin Mercury V12 outboards churning out a combined 1,200 horsepower, gets up to 30 in about 11 seconds and tops out around 54 miles per hour.

As is expected from a brand like Tiara, this small motor yacht is beautifully appointed and well-equipped. The entire port gunwale opens into a large swim platform, opening up the cockpit space for water-fun or entertaining.

Down below, the boat has a large island berth forward and a separate double stateroom to midship. The pilothouse is enclosed with tempered glass all around and provides awesome visibility and all-season comfort.

All in all, the Tiara 43LE is a cabin cruiser that drives with power and elegance. Unlike other vessels in the class, however, this boat lacks a common area to work and eat, like a large cockpit table or a dinette in the pilothouse. The seating arrangements work great for socializing on the water, but you might want to look at the 48LE for overnights or longer-distance voyaging.

Beyond helm features for easier docking, this cabin cruiser is designed to carry you and your family comfortably. There’s not really another 40-foot flybridge that offers as much as the 1295 for the same price point.

As an update, this model seems to be discontinued, but as a used boat for sale with low running hours, it could be an affordable way to satisfaction.

This is a plus model option to Juneau’s 35 foot flagship NC1095 that adds the flybridge for those lovely sunny days when you can lavish in getting closer to the sun. It has ample space in the aft section of the cockpit with a movable sofa seat when tilting the two outboard motors.

The salon itself is full of storage cubbies, a long galley table with sink and stove and a modular table that doubles as an additional berth. With the cockpit enclosure around the aft seating area, the living space becomes that much more impressive in a 35 footer.

The Fly is easily big enough for a family or a small party to while away a weekend or a summer playing cards, reading, while cruising to another horizon.

As a performance vessel, the NC1095 Fly handles like a bowrider . A Quick Guide to Cabin Cruisers 

They need a little more than just a cabin under the deck to be called a cabin cruiser. Think  bowrider or runabout  and expand outwards with a mind toward extending your daytrip so it potentially never ends. That entails more space and comfort like you get with your typical luxury yacht combined with performance associated with the bowriders.

The cabin cruisers we have on the list are designed with a maritime intelligence that incorporates deep and fundamental logic required to make recreational sailing as a lifestyle both safe and enjoyable. A model like the NC1095 Fly is a great example of a modern interpretation of a cabin cruiser that really embodies the maritime equivalent of a newer RV.

When deciding what vessel is right for you, figure out how much space you need, how long you’re going to be cruising and pay particular attention to how comfortable you feel navigating tighter waterways and docking. Smaller craft like the Chris-Craft 34 are easier to wrap your head around and if your needs and horizons are closer to home than this is a good vessel for cruising shorter overnight excursions and even navigating smaller waterways like river systems.

The bigger boats, like the Grand Banks 44, will appeal to longer voyages further out at sea. These are vessels that could even traverse the Atlantic–for the intrepid mariner–and have a great go of the Mediterranean.

While size will increase the challenges when navigating and docking (make sure to use boat fenders when docking), these modern cabin cruisers have been designed so well in order to make the pilot seem a steady, old hand at the helm.

Consider the need for bow thrusters, whether you want inboard motors or outboard motors (the latter tend to be cheaper and easier to maintain), air conditioning/heating, where you can get a boat slip and how readily available guest slips are for boats with the different beams (width).

These boats are still relatively easy to operate but they can go quite fast on the water. Remember to observe the customs and rules on the waves. Most importantly: enjoy.

The boat companies all like to hide the cost and not knowing the brands I am spending most of my time trying to figure out which one is the best value. SUMMERTIME II is a US built, Canadian flagged, Tri-Deck Superyacht. Stepping onboard you enter the Main Salon from the large covered Aft Deck. Here you will notice a customized interior by Palmer Johnson in a blend of exotic woods finished in a tasteful high gloss. The woods are complemented by fine neutral fabrics, with granite and marble throughout. Carpeting was installed throughout the vessel in 2020.  

Moving forward into the Dining room you pass a granite topped credenza with a pop-up TV, electric blind controls, and stemware storage. The oval glass top dining table seats 8 and for convenient service the dining area has a sink, icemaker, and a Sub-zero undercounter refrigerator.  

Continuing forward is a custom spiral staircase made with polished stainless and pomelle sapele dark woods which connects all decks. Forward of that are the pantry, galley, a day head, and crew quarters furthest forward on this deck. In the Pantry to port, you'll find ample food storage, a wine cooler, and two full sized LG freezers with storage racks for provision. The Day Head in the port passageway has impressive custom wall paintings, fixtures, and cabinets.  

The galley is designed as a country kitchen finished to guest standards and has been completely refit with full-sized side by side LG refrigerators, Thermador ovens, high end Kitchen Aid burner cooktop. Guests will also enjoy the circular custom breakfast table that can seat eight while enjoying the morning news on a 50" Sony Satellite TV. Large windows all around make this an inviting spot to dine or play games.  

Below the spiral staircase is a foyer on the staterooms deck with a laundry room to port, full beam owner’s stateroom aft, a twin bed ensuite guest stateroom starboard, and two matching queen ensuite VIP staterooms forward.  

At the top of the spiral staircase is the Skylounge with comfortable sofas and chairs to enjoy the expansive views. TV and audio-visual equipment provide streaming movies, DVDs, satellite programs, music, and radio. It is possible to accommodate two guests on the sleeper sofa for larger guest parties. Here you will find a Sherrill Wagner sink, a large capacity icemaker, a Sub-Zero refrigerator, and stemware storage. A Day Head is found forward in the short hallway to the Pilothouse on starboard, effectively making the Skylounge a convertible 5th cabin as needed. 

In the pilothouse, there are two new 24" Simrad MFD screens, and two Octoplex monitoring displays, all with a separate screen switching control display unit. There is a Fusion sound system, starboard and port docking stations, two 72-mile radars, up-to-date navigation software, radios, computers, and controls for equipment like the thruster and stabilizers. 

Aft of the Skylounge on the Boat Deck is covered seating, sun lounges, a teak game table, 10'x14' custom umbrella, 2500 lb. davit (currently inoperable), and circular stairs to the aft deck. If you take the ladder from the Boat Deck to the Flybridge (Sun Deck) you'll be 35'above the water with good views and more lounging chairs. One can also pilot the yacht from this deck with a full set of controls and helm seats. 

A well-proportioned lazarette is accessed from the stern engine room door allowing access to the engine room forward of that.

The two Owners’ Suites on SEA CLOUD II follow in the maritime spirit of always keeping exclusive quarters white-glove ready for the ship’s owners. Today, these luxury spaces are reserved for guests who appreciate the elevated side of sailing with the comforts of a private yacht. Both light-filled suites are located on the lido deck and feature panoramic windows for a unique view of the sea, even from the four-poster bed. The opulence includes a fireplace, elegant cabinetry, high-end furnishings, and a spacious marble bath outfitted in our legendary golden fixtures.

CAT. B Junior Suites

With rosewood furnishings, ornate wall finishings and a detailed marble fireplace, the junior suites are the epitome of luxury. Panoramic windows welcome in the sea, creating a bright, airy ambiance filled with casual elegance and upscale comfort. A separate sitting area makes the fireplace cozier. A majestic marble bath with golden fixtures is classic in this top tier. The Junior Suites are located on the promenade deck, with the restaurant, boutique, and reception close by.

Their location in the front of the promenade deck follows the elegant line of the SEA CLOUD II, enhancing the exhilarating feeling of sailing on a private yacht.

CAT. D Deluxe Staterooms

The three large porthole windows give these SEA CLOUD II deluxe staterooms a special maritime flair. With a luxurious yacht ambience, these upscale spaces magnify the feeling of being part of an extraordinary journey on an extraordinary ship. The spacious room exudes elevated coziness with sophisticated furnishing and finishings, a glamorous palette and a beautiful sitting area. The six deluxe staterooms are located mid-ship on the same deck as the massage and cosmetic treatments, fitness room, swim platform and hospital.

CAT. E Deluxe Staterooms

These outside deluxe staterooms with large porthole window are the epitome of nautical luxury on SEA CLOUD II. Located on both sides of the cabin deck, these are exclusive retreats of serenity that have made our sailing yachts famous. Sophisticated style comes in the form of rich wood finishings, Italian marble and golden fixtures.

CAT. F Staterooms

These three outside staterooms with porthole windows spotlight a design inspired by officers’ cabins on traditional windjammers. They’re located on the same deck as massage and cosmetic treatments, the fitness room, swim platform and hospital.
